Update for iLife??

I have an emac with Mac OS X Version 10.2.8 with 512 MB of Memory, a 800 MHz Processor, and is a PowerPC G4.
This past weekend I bought iLife '05 and discovered when I got home that I had all the requirements except for the fact that I needed Mac OS X 10.3.4 or later.
I really don't understand if I can just download OS X 10.3.9 right away - or if I need to download .3, .3.1, .3.2, etc. before I download 10.3.9.
I am so confused! I didn't know that I was supposed to update as much as possible. This is all new to me. I didn't even know that there were different versions of OS X. So, if someone could help and explain all of this in simple terms - that would be SOOOO helpful.

Unfortunately, you'd have to buy 10.3; it may be available somewhere. Be careful that you don't get a machine-specific version, then upgrade it to 10.3.9. (You don't need to do any interim upgrades.)
Or get 10.4
Good luck

  • ILife Support 9.0.4 Update for iLife 08 ~ use Updater version or download?

    I have iLife 08.
In Apple Support Downloads (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1009) this update is recommended for all users of iLife ’09, iWork ’09, and Aperture. File Size: 67.13 MB.
In my Software Update panel the iLife Support 9.0.4 download is 2.3 MB.
I gather the discrepancy in File Size is because only a teeny bit of the update from 67.13 MB download is for iLife 08.
    Question:
I prefer to install updates from downloads rather than from auto-Updater, will the 67.13 MB File know to install just 2.3MB of its load or should I use the Updater for this one?

Use the Updater. It's tailored for your set up.

  • I can't transfer one Apple ID to my another ID for updating the iLife

    Hello everybody!
    Good afternoon!
I purchased a Mac mini Midd 2011 from one store the last month end. My Mac mini came with iLife, because if I formatted and reinstalled the Lion, it came with iLife too. But at Mac App Store, I can't update the apps of iLife, because the iLife apps were already assigned to my seller's another ID, and Apple didn't accept my another ID to update the iLife, forcing me to buy the iLife.
I contacted my seller. I and my seller used the TeamViewer, he tried to transfer his iLife apps from his store account to my account, but he can't. He hide the apps, but the Mac App Store still keeps the notifications of iLife. Then he went to iTunes via TeamViewer to unauthorise my Mac mini and to authorised it with my account, and we were going to update the apps, but it wasn't well-succeded. He told he would take a provsion and contact Apple to transfer his account to my account. But after two weeks, he didn't return to answer me. I tried to contact Apple support via Express Lane.
    Some solution for this?
Thank you a lot for your attention, understanding and help!
    Gustavo

because the iLife apps were already assigned to my seller's another ID, and Apple didn't accept my another ID to update the iLife, forcing me to buy the iLife.
Apps purchased from one Apple ID acccount cannot be trasnferred to another.
Apps can only be updated from the Apple ID account they were purcahsed from.
I understand your plight, but there's nothing Apple can do.

  • Updates for iPhoto (and other iLife Products)

I have no problem getting the list of available updates for my computer. The problem is when I push the button for "Install 3 objects" and the download is supposed to start. Well, it kind of starts also, but it is not able to download a single byte. This happens with iLife08 products only, not the other updates.
Anyone got a clue what is wrong?

  • Software update failed for iLife apps

A few weeks ago Software Update brought up some updates for iMovie HD, iDVD, and Garageband. These 3 updates always end in an error, and Software Update closes. I've tried each of these individually, the same always happens. Other than ignoring these updates, is there anything I can do?
    powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Hard to say if this is a receipt problem, from a bad install.
Download the 3 updates from apple.com/Support/Downloads. Then, got to Library/Receipts (main Library), and remove the receipt that applies to just one of the applications. Best to do this to one at a time.
Now, after you finish, or maybe before, this might be a time to Repair preference.

  • Software update and iLife help not working in Admin account

For the last few weeks (maybe since iLife 11 was installed) software update and iLife help has quit working on the single administration account on my iMac. All works fine on the secondary accounts.
If I try to use software update it says everything is up to date, even though I know there are updates available that can be seen if checking from a different account on the machine. In iLife, if I try to access the help files it tells me I need to download them. I click to download and after a few seconds it takes me back to the front help page and I then go through the entire process again but the help download never happens. On secondary accounts the help files work no problem.
I've tried many of the tips for deleting helpfile plists, but nothing seems to work for me.
Can any kind person list for me everything I should look to delete or move in the account to get these things working again?
    It would be much appreciated!

Since the issue is specific to your original user account, you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything on that other account's list from the original account's Preferences folder into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

  • I changed my AppleID a long time ago to an email that I no longer use and I have updates for apps that I can't update because my old email is filled in to where i sign in and it wont let me change it to my new one???

I changed my AppleID a long time ago to an email that I no longer use and I have updates for apps that I can't update because my old email is filled in to where i sign in and it wont let me change it to my new one???

The problem with those two apps is that they are supposed to be in your Apple ID and you didn't set up the Mac properly/completely when you got it.
You might try deleteing them and using OS X Recovery to install them again.

After that, before you open any iLife apps go to your Mac App Store account, to the Purchased pane and Accept them into your account.

  • How to download versions of apps compatible with OSX 10.7 not the ones updated for 10.9

how to download versions of apps compatible with OSX 10.7 not the ones updated for 10.9?
I'm trying to download iLife and iWork apps for my MacBook. For example: The GarageBand app will not download because it says it is compatible with 10.9. I have 10.7 and cannot update to 10.9 because I'm on a 13in. Late 2007 MacBook. Any suggestions?

Click here and follow the instructions. If they’re not applicable, you can’t download them and need to install them from a DVD.

  • Import form cam no longer works after Update to iLife 09

Hi, I've updated to iLife 09 and installed the most recent patches. With iLife 08 my Fujifilm Finepix F30 was recognized by my mac book pro, iPhoto starded up an the contet of the cam was presented for import as soon as I connected it by USB. With iLife 09 all this no longer works. iPhote is fired up but nothing else happens but that iPhote freezes so the only thin I an do is to kill it ... now it's more or less useless for me
    Please help !
    TIA
    frantek

    Start with the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
    2. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.

  • Is there any upcoming software updates for the version 10.5.8? Also how do I backup my mac?

I really want to update my mac to the new version of Snow Leopard or Lion but to my understanding I must buy the disks to update it. However I feel like buying a macbook pro to my replace my mid-2009 white macbook, once I graduate so I could use it for college (which is 2 years from now and I'm saving up for it).
Also how do I backup my mac (hardrive)? I'm quite lost. I'm told that I must use Time Machine, but how? Do I use a CD to back up? Some external drive and if yes where could I buy one?
P.S. I'm a newbie with tech stuff. I'm no genius with it so I suggest to take it slow with me. PLUS there's no Apple Store here to help me out.
    My quetions in a nutshell:
    1) Upcoming software updates? *secretly wishes they were FREE*
    2) Backing up my hardrive?
    My Mac
      - Version 10.5.8 with a 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    The 2.13Ghz MacBook is a Mid 2009 model 5,2 http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook/specs/macbook-core-2-duo-2.13-whit e-13-mid-2009-nvidia-specs.html
There will be no updates for 10.5. it's been out of production for 3 years. You can order a Snow Leopard 10.6 install disk for $29 as long as you have at least 1gb of RAM and 5gb of free space on your hard drive.  http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC573Z/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
You can upgrade from 10.5 to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.5 should run under10.6. See this list for compatibility with 10.6: http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/  You might have to upgrade some drivers for printers, etc.... And you will have to install Rosetta if you have any third party Power PC applications http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/snow_leopard_installing_rosetta/
To upgrade your iLife and iWork. If you only want iPhoto or other single apps from iLife '11 you can get them from the App Store after you've upgraded to 10.6.6. iPhoto, iMovie or Garage Band for $15 each and Pages, Keynote or Numbers from iWork '09 for $20 each.
You can upgrade from 10.4 to 10.6 with no problems. Any program that runs under 10.4 should run under10.6.
Once you are at 10.6.8 you can buy Lion for $29 from the App Store. Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. As for third party programs see this list for compatibility with 10.7 http://roaringapps.com/apps:table Also Lion doesn't run any Power PC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When System Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under Kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC. Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. Power PC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the Power PC processors need the application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped all support for Power PC applications.

  • Where do I get MPN for iLife that came with my computer?

I purchased a MacBook about a year ago. I just now have occasion to use iPhoto. I'd like to register it in case there are updates. When I attempt to do so I am asked for the "market product number" [MPN]. The methods explained for locating the MPN on Apple's website -- e.g., opening the Apple System Profiler -- do not work for me.
How can I locate the MPN? Alternatively, do I need to register my copy of iLife? It's iLife 08 and was purchased late December of 08.
    Thanks,
    Eric Weir

    Eric:
iPhoto is only available with the iLife suite of iApps, not by itself. As for iLife 10 no one knows what the schedule is. In the past it had been released at the time of the MacWorld Expo. Since Apple is not participating in the Expo any more we don't know if there will be a scheduled release or not.
Since the Expo is only a few weeks away I would at least wait until it's over before ordering iLife 09 if you are interested in ordering 09. Otherwise, start using 08 and get familiar with it. Then compare the differences between 08 and 09 to see if it's worth it for you to upgrade.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • Front Row Does Not Display Photos After Updating to iLife '11

I just updated to iLife '11 and now Front Row shows only a black screen when it should display photos photos in landscape mode. The background music plays and photos in portrait mode are displayed correctly, but the ones in landscape mode are not shown. Everything seems to be fine in iPhoto '11. What should I do to fix this issue? Thanks.

Same for me on my Mac Mini: I can see the shared pictures but can't see the ones in the local library. Funny thing is that I can see that library from my other Mac.
Also I noticed that one picture appeared in the middle of the (empty) slideshow, only 1 of 67. In the list view, those pictures appear normally, as you can see in this screenshot http://d.pr/eiXB
    I'm a first-time iLife user, so I don't know if the issue is '11-specific.

  • Update for garage band 3.0.4

I can;t find the appropriate update for this version of garage band. I have seen somewhere someone suggested to find a garage band 4 before going to 4.1.1, otherwise it'll be impossible to upgrade, but I never found a free download for version 4.0.0 (unfortunately, apple does not even provide free upgrade for people that own original software!!) Anyhow, I need to bring on the comp. my tracks I've done on my electric piano...what would be easier since this version of garage band won;t work via USB...only as a midi controller? simply, buy an interface or buy a new $79 Ilife'09? thanks for help

  • When updating to ilife I lost all my photos

I updated my ilife and then when i went to open my iphoto, all my pictures were gone. Is there any way i can get them back?

    Restore from your back up?
    Other than that:
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on eight different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.

  • ILife Support 8.3 needed for iLife 06?

I'm setting up an 800MHz PowerBook with Mac OS X 10.4.11 and iLife 06 (iPhoto, iMovie, iTunes). Software Update keeps telling me I need to install "iLife Support 8.3", which is described as:
+iLife Support provides system software components shared by all iLife '08 applications. This update improves overall stability and addresses a number of other minor issues. It is recommended for all users for iLife '08.+
It says nothing about iLife 06. Does anyone know why Software Update is insisting I install this? Is it really needed for iLife 06?

    No you don't need this.
