Update for microsoft 2008

I have got microsoft office installed and recently received an up date for it. When I ran the update tho it just froze with a black and white cursor and told me I had to shut programme before it could continue but the programme was shut.
Not being used to Mac I am worried that I may have unintentionally put something dangerous on my machine. I have emptied temp int files, cache and cookies.
Any ideas from anybody.

Are you sure that you actually QUIT the program? If all you did was close the open windows, then the program was still running. You have to go up to the taskbar at the top of the screen, select the application name and then choose the quit option. I didn't know this when I first switched to MAC, so perhaps this was your issue. FWIW, I loaded that same update yesterday on my MacBook with no issues. Haven't updated the iMac yet.

    When I installed the recent updates for Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac, my iCal calendar was wiped out, as was the calendar on my iPhone.  I'd rather use iCal than Office and was attempting to phase Office out altogether.  Now, all of my information is on the Office calendar but not iCal.  The iCloud version of my iCal calendar is not up to date.  In any event, I couldn't figure out how to send that info to the iCal on my mac or my phone.  How can I sync my Office calendar info to iCal?  If that's not possible, how can I get my Office calendar to sync with my iPhone?  All of my sync services are set up in iTunes and on my phone.  This happened to me once before and I spent hours on the phone with Apple and on the web trying to work it out.  I NEED MY CALENDAR!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!!!

    The other concern I have is that Office 2011 requires an Intel-based Mac and you posted in the older iMac (pre-Intel or "PPC") forums. If you have an Intel-based iMac (Apple menu > About this Mac..." will say "Intel" if you do) then I think you'll get faster and more accurate ansers to other questiosn in the Apple forums for newer iMacs here:

    I tried to run the update troubleshooter, but it did not help.  I tried Microsoft Fixit50123, but that did not solve the problem either.

    I’ve noticed that similar case occurs on this 2/10/2015 update (KB3032622) in some environments. But still a small number.
    And we suggest you run the Windows Update Troubleshooter first and check if there is something need to fix.
    After that please recheck if this update still in your list of updates to be applied.

    Whenever I try to update ANY version of Microsoft Office:Mac (I have 4.2.3) I get the followng message:
    Office 2011 14.2.3 Update (for Microsoft Office: Mac) can’t be installed on this disk. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.

    Since this question is about a Microsoft product, you might have more luck getting suggestions if you ask in Microsoft's own forums.

    If you want to simply do a 'fresh' install (versus wiping out all of your data and doing a 'clean' install) simply boot to your Recovery partition (hold down the Command and R keys whilst booting) and when the Recovery screen appears, elect to freshly install OS X.
    Don't know that will solve your problem, though... did you do the 'automatic' update or download the update as a disk image (.dmg)? I wouldn't think that would be causing your problems...

    There's no Core Components server role update, as far as my experience, the DB update is not required.
    And I suggest that reboot the Lync Servers once after the updates have been installed.

    During windows update, Update for Microsoft word 2010 (KB2827323) Fails to install. the error details is 80070663. I tried to install this from the Microsoft article and this also fails "error has occurred" message appears.

    Would you please follow the steps below to troubleshoot the problem?
    1. Use Windows update troubleshooter to troubleshoot the problem. Open Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Troubleshooting > System and Security > Fix problem with Windows Update.
    2. If problem persists, try to reset Windows Update components. See:

  • Am I able to use Microsoft Office when i switch users on my Macbook Air? I can find the applications, Excel Word etc, but when I try to open them it keeps taking me to a software update for Microsoft Office. Any tips on what to do???

    I use 2 accounts, one for work and one for personal.
    I have Microsoft Office, in my applications, and I can find it in my work user account, but when I try to open it, it keeps doing start up for Auto updates. and wont open the application. It works fine in my personal (Admin) account which is where I did migration when I bought the laptop. And I've looked on here for similar problems, and everyone says if it's in your applications it should work, but I can't open mine.
    Anyone know what I can do?

    Go to the main Library folder and look for a folder called Application Support / Microsoft.
    There are a few folders in there, and you may have to do some digging. In one of them (mine is called MAU2.0), there should be a file called Microsoft Autoupdate. Open it.
    It looks like this:
    check the button for manual updates.
    That should let you open the apps without triggering an automatic update.
