hi all in sunny cyberland. is there anyone that knows of an update for the n70 operating system or when there will be one?as of now, there aint one on the nokia site. cheers ears.

First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
Hard reset:
1. Switch off the phone.
2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:

If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.

these phones should be most likely updateable on PC using Nokia Suite, though I can't test/verify this at the moment. The question is whether the recent versions of Nokia Suite still has support for these older products - they were supported by Nokia Software Updater in the past.
The latest generally available sales software for N70 is 5.0705.3.0.1 and for 6630 it is 6.03.40.

Nokia Software Updater for N70 crashing

Hi
Am having trouble using Nokia Software Updater with my N70. I would be really grateful if anyone can help.
The Software Updater launches ok (although sometimes takes an age to get to stage of blue progress bar appearing), the welcome page appears, I click 'Start', 'Getting Started' page appears, I click 'Next' and then programme crashes with following error message from Windows:
'nsu_ui_client.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'
For info I am running :
Dell Inspiron 6000 laptop with Windows XP SP2, PC Suite 6.81.13.0 (PC Suite is off)
Connecting to N70 via cable, Connectivity Cable Drivers Version 6.81.1.2
N70 on Vodafone UK firmware V 5.0609.2.0.1 01-03-06 RM-84.
Nokia Software Updater 1.0.86en (tried reinstallation once)
MacAfee firewall is off (same result when on, no error message from firewall), Windows firewall is off.

Follow up to previous message.
New behaviour today, Updater this time hangs and just sits there on 'Setting up the Update, Loading a List of Supported Phone Models ...'. Seems to do this whether my phone is connected or not.
Am wondering if there is a connection between this issue and the one reported in my other post : http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=pcsuite&message.id=6699
(this has now been resolved as you will see if your follow the thread)
Any ideas out there?

Browser update for N70?

When the N73 was released, it seems a new browser for the N-series phones was also released. Is there a way of upgrading the browser software on my N70 directly on the phone?

Nope. The new browser is only available for S60 3rd Edition based devices. (And an even newer one in S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 based devices.)
The N70 is an S60 2nd Edition Feature Pack 3 based device. If the built-in browser there is not good enough, your options are to try Opera or Acess' NetFront, instead.

When will a software update for my "generic" N70 w...

Now its been months that the NSU has been out. I already posted my problem that the NSU tells me that my software is upto date and there are no updates available for my phone. But im still running firmware version V 3.0546 RM84. I check this website regularly about once a week to see if any update is available but till date nothing has come up.
Can someone tell me when the NSU will have updates for my simfree /generic N70 please ?

I need the LAST line on *#0000#. It says: Nokia N70, plus a code between parentheses (i.e.: (02) or (57.02). If your code is four digits (xx.yy) then it's NOT "Generic", and you might have to wait a little longer. If the code I mean is TWO-digit (0x), there should be an update available, and if you continue to get the message that none is available even if you have a two digit code, you should consider posting your product code (which is to be found under the battery compartment on a sticker (code: #######) and consists of 7 digits. if the first digit is a 0, pleae DO include it when posting.

Next Firmware for N70

I have update my N70 firmware to v5.0616.2.0.3 but i am not found something special from this firmware. I wish the next firmware make my N70 phone support wma files, and i hope the realplayer can play all 3gp & rm files. I found some 3gp & rm files which can play in nokia 6600 but can't play in N70. Sorry for my english, i am indonesian

You find your current version by typing:
*#0000#
In the standby screen.
If you're having problems with the firmware, ask the Service Centre about it, they may be able to do something for you - possibly try reinstalling the firmware... Always worth asking though
As for keepsmile's original post - this isn't the place to suggest things to include in firmware updates, you should use the Contact Us link up there ^ and either call Nokia, or use the online form... or it may be possible to email [email protected], though I'm not sure if that's the appropriate address lol
I can't really see Nokia focusing much on adding new features to the N70 now - I would have thought any future firmware updates would just be for bug-fixes etc. Not that I'm an expert or anything though

NSU ties available updates to both the mobile and your operator. E.g. N80 with O2 gets firmware A, N80 with Orange gets firmware B, N70 with O2 gets firmware C, etc. You get the idea.
In your case, I suspect your operator and mobile match to 5.0609.2.01 as the latest.
Also, it may be that 5.0638.3.01 may be too new. NCC told me that it typically takes around a month for NSU to be updated after official launch of firmware.

Firmware for n70 up to date but it's not

Hi can somebody help me. am with 3 network, ive been to nika repair center's for new frimware update for my phone N70 but no luck as 3network dont provide that up date only update they is which is v2.0539.1.2. ive download the nokia updater but it say that firmware is up to date which it is not has i want v5. can some body plz tell me how get v5 update for my n70 which is still in the iceage Kind Regards huss

yes... I think I need fw version 5.xxxx to fix the bluetooth bug (connection drops and won't reconnect until reboot of device) this includes moving mp3's or videos on/off the device and also soon my bluetooth gps device.
O2 will not return up to date firmware to Nokia for them to use on o2 devices yet. I asked the technician in Preston Nokia Service Centre: what it is that Nokia and O2 want me to do? return the product that won't work???? ... that would seem to be the answer. If I had the energy I would go down to o2 store and negotiate for a sim-free n70... I'm 4mths into my contract.
Of course at year end when waranty out, I will pay £15-00 to reflash to generic at true current version. Might even do that now, technician advised that some generics were returned for waranty repair and this was honoured, reflash to generic overlooked... presume some sympathy?
Starting to wonder if this post will be wiped. Will be sorry if that happens, and glad any comments/assistance..,.

Software Update for Nokia N97 Mini

I'm curious when will there be a new software update for Nokia N97 mini.
The latest update was on June or July last year v30.0.004
Would be cool to update it, don't you agree? Almost a year now....

Firmware update for n91

My nokia software updater tells me there are no available updates for the n91(current versio 2.00.052), but i heard about a version 2.10.013. This version has issues with a few 3rd party tools which the later version does not. My product code is 0537293.
I have an n91-5 RM-158 model. Is the firmware update out, and how can i update it?

That is very strange.. I have the phone from India and the code is RM 43.
And as of today the 2.10 is not yet authorised by Airtel atleast.

That message means that you have to restore the iOS software because something went wrong. Follow the instructions here. I hope that you have a backup.

Tasc_redleader which update exactly are you trying to apply? Your screen shot indicates an update to Photoshop CS6 but your installation log appears to be for Extension Manager CS6.

Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac OS 10.10: Installation Failed error message.

Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac: Installation Failed error message. Update downloaded directly from Adobe website. Newly purchased Mac Workbook Pro, OS 10.10, using Photoshop CS5. Other updates successfully accomplished. Camera Raw 6.7 Update was downloaded multiple times with multiple installation attempts. Any recommendations?

thanks for the prompt response...i appreciate it. according to the link you listed, that's correct. the strange thing is that prior to the upgrad to mac os 10.8.4, photoshop CS5 was working just fine and i was able to open my canon raw files with my current camera raw plug-in version 6.7 which adobe has indicated is the last camera raw update they'll be offering for cs 5
so it's clearly an issue related to the "upgrade" of the os. seems like every solution creates 6 new problems...further evidence for the notion that if it ain't broke don't fix it! thanks again.
