Update Free Apps installed by another user?

As a support admin, I was given the CEOs iPad to set it up for him. He asked me to install apps that would be beneficial to him. I installed several FREE apps, which are now indicating they need to be updated.
We created an Apple account for the CEO, but whenever I attempt to update the installed Free apps, I am presented with my login ID and being asked to enter my password.
Short of deleting and reinstalling every Free app, is there another way?

Nope, no other way than to delete and reinstall, sorry bud, but you're outta luck there!

  • App downloaded by another user locked into my computer

We're using Casper to distribute applications across the campus, so we often download something in a dedicated machine and do the deployment there. Last month, I made a mistake by downloading iBook Author 1.1 using the other machine, and uploaded the app to the casper distribution points by my own machine.
The effect is that when I try to update my own iBook Author to 2.0 via App Store, it asks me for the username/password that was used to download the deployment copy, not my own AppleID. I tried downloading iBook Author (both) 1.1 and 2.0 by another machine using my AppleID, and copied them to the machine in question, then deleted both versions from the computer using LaunchPad (which I was told that would erase all traces of the software).
The problem is that I now only see "update" button in iBook Author even though all iBook Author have been removed from my computer, disregarding which AppleID is logged in, or if no one is logged into App Store. When I click that "update" button, I am asked for the password for the deployment account (i.e. not my own account), the username part is filled in, and greyed out, so I couldn't edit it.
This problem has been driving me crazy for over a week now. I guess I need a way to remove any cache that the local App Store app created for the updates. Any idea or pointer would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers
    Kenneth

Narrowed this problem down a bit more, this issue seems to only be with Windows 7 x64.  On x86 domain users are able to access the certificate as long as they have local admin rights.  I need to look into this more as we don't want our users having local admin rights, but at least it shows that a user can access a cert installed by another user.
With Windows 7 x64, which we will need to work, if the pc is not domain connected local admin users work fine.  Once joined to the domain, even local admins can't use the cert installed by another user.

I have downloaded e-books from Leserskring on my computer. I would like to download it to my Samsung Tablet as well. It says I cannot as it was already installed by another user. I contact Leserskring and they said I installed it on my computer without creating an Adobe ID and cannot change the "authorization information" on my Adobe Digital Editions.  If I do it now on my computer, after installing my books, I will loose all my books. Is this true or how can I correct it.

  • HT4623 I am trying to update my apps with a new user ID - I have changed it in settings but how to I change it in apps store - it keeps asking me for a password for my old user id?

I am trying to update my apps using a new user ID.  I have changed it and I can't get it to change in the App Store.  It keeps asking me for a password for my old ID??

YOu can't update your apps with the new apple id.   All apps are tied to the apple id that was used to purchased it, you will need to enter your password from you old id to update.

  • HT201303 Can't update free app without putting credit card information? Why?

Cannot update free app without updating my credit card information! Says I am using new device to connect with app store ? This is not true as I'm using and have always been using my I phone. And why do I need to provide credit card info for free app?

Change your payment information to none on your iphone, goto settings > store  , tap on your apple ID , tap view account , tap payment type , change to none.
This is all provided that you don't owe itunes any monies, if so then attach a credit card or itunes gift card and pay your arrears.
Free app or paid app, you will not be able to use your apple id until you settle one of the above.

  • Why am I being asked for my billing info for updating free apps? This has never happened before! Now I can't update anything. Is there anyway around this?

I am being asked to provide my billing info for updating free apps... This has never happened before. I don't have a credit card so is there anyway around this??

The only way is to create an Apple ID without a credit card. The one you currently created will not work, it has to be a new one, and use this support document to do it. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2534 Make sure you follow the directions exactly.

Sorry... But... You cannot use other Countries iTunes Stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..

  • How can I purchase an app already installed by another user?

We're using MacBooks in our business and I'm the new IT guy there. Basically I've discovered that due to lots of disregard by my predecessor (who is now my boss...>_>), people have apps installed on their computers that they don't "own" due to the fact his Apple ID is the one that they belong to. This presented a problem today when one of my coworkers tried to use Keynote, required an update to open a file, and was denied further progress due to needing my boss's Apple ID (eventually we just logged in as him and installed the update in order to keep things moving).
Is there some way to clear off apps that don't belong to a current user so that user can repurchase the app from the App Store with their own account and/or not be nagged by updates they can never complete due to Apple ID mismatches? Otherwise they just say "Installed" or "Update" and the users can't do a thing about it. I'd like to be able to reinstall Keynote to his machine under his Apple ID and also know how to fix this problem down the line when it's sure to happen again so people can reinstall apps/update apps already on their machines with their own Apple IDs.

You company has started a journey down the wrong road and you could have a mess of a future ahead.
Company Macs are not consumer Macs and should not be set up with personal Apple IDs. You should speak to the Volume Licensing division of Apple for advice on setting up Macs with company Apple IDs and volume licenses.

  • Install Lync Web App Plugin For Another User

I'm wondering if there is a way to install the plugin for the Lync Web App for another user. The reason why is that administrative permissions are required and our users are not allowed to have those permissions. I have the MSI but when I look at it, it
    says
"Cannot install [ProductName].Setting the AllUsers property is not allowed because [ProductName] is a per-user application."
Is there a way that I can install the MSI, maybe through the command line or another method, and specify another user so it installs to their profile?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    This is typically achieved by allowing exceptions in your software control strategy for the required executable;
    LWAPlugin.exe
    LWAVersionPlugin.exe
    AppSharingHookController.exe
    AppSharingHookController64.exe
This typically occurs in VDI deployments where users are not able to install software onremote server, so the above rule is added to the Software Restriction Policy (providing that's what you're using to control application installation).
I'm not familiar with any associated cmd line switches I'm afraid.
    Kind regards
    Ben

  • Updating VPP apps installed via Configurator

We are setting up a series of iPads using a common AppleID. They will be used as kiosks by any of a number of users. The iPads will be managed using Meraki's MDM.
We have abandoned using app distribution because it would require individual AppleIDs for each device. Instead we are simply installing the paid app using Configurator during the setup process.
It was tricky to get this to work, but I found hints in various threads here: make sure to sign in using the common AppleID in both iTunes & Mac App store on the Configurator Mac. Also, authorize this Mac on that account in iTunes. Now the installation works.
However, app updates are posing a problem. Whenever I try to update the app on any of the iPads, it asks to sign in using another AppleID: the AppleID used to download the original .ipa app file that was loaded into Configurator. How do I get the app to be associated with the AppleID that's on the iPad (same as the ID currently on the Mac in iTunes & Mac App store), and ensure it won't require a password each time there's an update?

I'll break you the bad news. I've spoken to a Crapple 'engineer' today and was advised that you can't really bypass having an itunes account per device.
Apple Colloquially known as Crapple. Need to run 2 models. Why they haven't done this is beyond me, its killing their market. Especially in the education sector.
    1. The current model where by you can distribute licences to the end user's itunes account - and revoke.
    2. The devices remain under a central account and scope of control through an MDM and licences are bound to the UUID of the device.
It couldn't get any simpler than that.
Will we ever see it? I highly doubt it. Another half *** company dealing half assed solutions to the world.
I live for the day Apple forcloses due to the ridiculous close minded garbage they put out.

  • I can't install updates to apps installed via a CD

My iMovie and iPhoto was originally installed via a CD, and for the last few months I keep getting requests to install updated versions. But the installation never works because the originals didn't come from the App Store, yet there's no way to refuse these updates. It's been really tiresome to keep getting asked to update these apps. Do I have to uninstall the apps from my Mac to get these update requests to stop?

Depends upon the versions your have. You can upgrade from immediately prior versions, otherwise, you must purchase the upgrades. Plus in order to be eligible for a free upgrade, if any, you must have installed Mavericks.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.
iWork and iLife for Mac come free with every new Mac purchase. Existing users running Mavericks can update their apps for free from the Mac App Store℠. iWork and iLife for iOS are available for free from the App Store℠ for any new device running iOS 7, and are also available as free updates for existing users. GarageBand for Mac and iOS are free for all OS X Mavericks and iOS 7 users. Additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available for a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 for each platform.

  • Can't download free app purchased under another account once Family Sharing is enabled

I "purchased" Onedrive for iPhone years ago. Then I turned on family sharing on my daughters phone. She couldn't update Onedrive because she hadn't purchased it, so I deleted it as I had for others and tried to download it again. However, this fails with the error message:
"Redownload Unavailable with This Apple Id
This redownload is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
    OK"
I tried finding it from her phone under my purchases, but it is not listed there. However, on my phone, it does show up as a purchase. I'm completely baffled on how to work around this. Anyway to force a repurchase of a "free" app?

If you are using the Purchased tab where your purchases are listed to re-download it then you shouldn't be charged. If you are being asked to enter your credit card details when trying to download it via that tab then that will be for account verfication purposes - you are currently in the country where your account is based ?
