Update from iOS 4 to 6. Do I have to sync apps?
I'm helping out someone with updating his iPhone from iOS 4 to 6. I synchronized his iPhone with my laptop (only music, so no apps). Now if want to update it says that all apps will be deleted while updating, so I have to update using the same computer as I synchronized it with.
Because I did not synchronize his apps with my laptop I am worried that he will loose his apps when I do synchronize. But I do not want to synchronize his apps with my laptop because that will mess up my apps (right?).
Does anyone know if I can update to iOS 6 without synchronizing his apps with my laptop?

My old iPad 2 is updated to ios 7.1.2 but I have a new 4 which is only compatible with 7.0.4 from setup. How can I backup my account to the new iPad with this incompatibility?
What you need to do is temporarily set up your new 4. Just long enough to update the operating system. Then you can erase all content and settings - which puts it back to its out of box state, then set it up again, this time restoring it from the backup of your two.
So, using the same Apple ID on both - just to keep things easy - set up your 4. Just basically choose 'set up as new' to activate it, then immediately update the iOS to 7.1.2.

Then set it up again, this time choosing to 'restore from the backup' of your 2 and your 4 will be a near clone of your two. -

If I update from IOS 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 will I lose all my GPSHD Motion X map data? When I updated to IOS 5.0.1 I lost about 25GBytes of map data because Itunes will not back up my GPSHD map data.
I havn't used that app, but you shouldn't lose any data by updating to 5.1.1 from 5.0.1.
You can make sure you have a backup before updating.

I searched for some solutions on the internet and applied following fixes:
1- Disconnected iphone from PC and closed itunes.
2- Reset the iphone by holding down the On/Off button.
3- Connected iphone back to PC to sync with itunes.
Apparently this fixed the problem, and iphone synced with itunes.same here, but now you can't downgrade to iOS 7.x, since apple has closed the verification server for that version.

No its not out yet, when I went in to settings it still says 8.0.1 and I just searched on google, it says IOS 8.0.2 will come out in a few days. I just want to get IOS 8, I don't care about IOS 8.0.1 or 8.0.2 .

Im trying to update from IOS 4 to IOS 5, my current software version is 4.2.1 I click the button that says check for updates and it tells me that 4.2.1 is the most up to date version. How do i update an iPhone 4 with IOS 4.2.1 to 4.3.5? Every time i connect it to iTunes (Windows 7 laptop), 2-3mins before finishing to 2 hour download, the screen will freeze and a window will pop out saying "cannot download software, timed out". I tried this on 5 occasions but always got the same response.

As others have pointed out, this isn't malware. That should not be your first (or even fifty-first) thought when your Mac starts misbehaving. For more on this topic, see my Mac Malware Guide.
I know the last ditch effort (after cleaning and maintenance of disc verification and permissions and repairs, is to reboot from the system disc.
You mention "cleaning and maintenance." Have you been running utilities claiming to do those things? If so, you may be the victim of an overly-zealous cleaning job, which has removed important files and damaged your system.
If I'm understanding correctly, you're unable to open any applications at all... is that right? Do you have any backups? If you don't have backups, you're in a sticky situation, as it will be difficult to make backups in your current state, but you shouldn't try any kind of repairs without them. (Actually, you shouldn't do anything with your computer without backups, but this is especially important when something is going badly wrong.)
If you have backups, reboot from your Snow Leopard install disc. From there, first, repair the hard drive with Disk Utility. Once that is done, assuming repairs were successful, reinstall the system. You can simply reinstall it on top of your current system, and it will replace any damaged or lost system files with new copies. (You'll also need to update the system via Software Update after reinstalling.)
If you don't have backups, or if Disk Utility can't repair damage, or if the problem continues even after a reinstall, post back with those details. -
No Service on iphone 4 GSM after update from ios 7.0 to 7.0.2
Yesterday on my iPhone 4 I made the OTA update from iOS 7.0 to iOS 7.0.2
Modem FW is 04.12.09 - no jailbreak, no simlock
Everything just worked as it should but after the update I did not have Service anymore and my iphone is permanently searching a Carrier.
I already have resetted all Network settings but without any result.
I have restored once again via itunes to 7.0.2 but without result.
Any Idea what I could do?
I have to be reachable by phone so now I am going to restore back to 7.0 and I hope that it will work again.

After having switched Carrier search from Automatic to Manual a list appears with all available Carriers.
My Carrier is on the list but when I select it following info appears:
There are restrictions for the selected Carrier, please select another one or go back to Settings.
*** ... this is my home Carrier and I am in my home country!!! I never saw something like this before.
Actually it is the same message as I got when I select another Carrier in my Country where of course access is denied.
For me this clearly seems to be a bug in 7.0.2
