Update from Solaris 10 1/06
I want to install the latest Sparc Solaris 10 recommended patch cluster
Readme says it can be applied to a system running Solaris 10 3/05 ("FCS") or a later Solaris 10 Update release.
I am running Solaris 10 1/06
I assume that is earlier then 3/05 ????
If so, what are my options for upgradeing to the latest patch level?
Well..
The X/YY number indicates the month/year it was shipped (or built)
So
Solaris 10 3/05 was probably built in March 2005
Solaris 10 1/06 was built in January 2006
.. so Solaris 10 1/06 is newer than Solaris 10 3/05..
.7/M.

Just updated the latest Epson software printer update from Apple. Now all my prints look solarized. How do I get rid of the new update and go back to the perfect prints I had before? Help please. Wasting ink and paper at the moment!!!!!!
I have tried the printer with my laptop (not updated) and everything is fine. It's just the beautiful 27" Imac that can no longer print.Might be a corrupted printer preference file ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Preferences
Click Go
Move the com.apple.PrinterPrefs.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, restart the printer... -
Upgrading from Solaris 10 Update 2 to Update 7 (05/09) on V125
I am trying to upgrade a V125 from Solaris 10 Update 2 to Solaris 10 Update 7. When the installer runs, it does not give me a choice for upgrading. I have tried also using text mode (boot cdrom - text) with no luck. Anyone else run into this?
Best!
FrankYou should update all the way to 10.5.8 using the combo updater, which you can download from here:
http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_5_8_ComboUpdate
Do I have to buy iLife 09 outright?
Yes.
Can I buy just iMovie 09?
Nope!
Lastly, you have plenty of RAM. The only way to increase this would be to sell your two ram sticks on eBay and buy two new 2GB sticks. -
Upgrade to Solaris 10 from Solaris 8
My client has upgraded from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10. In the process the
partition /lu (live update) was created at about 8GB. The root partition is currently at 94% and removal of /lu has not recovered this space. Please
advise best practice to resolve this problem.
regards,
OraclWzd.Thanks for the reply. I guess I did not make it clear. The /lu (live update) directory needs to be removed in its entirety. It sits under the root partition and is the result of the upgrade from Solaris 8 to 10. We backed-up the directory to tape (over 8GBs) and removed all the files and sub-directories under /lu. The utilization under the root partition remains at 94%. Why would the over 8GBs removed not be returned the available space under the root partition?
thanks,
OraclWzd -
Solaris 10 01/06 liveupgrade from Solaris 8
Hi all,
I have to upgrade a few SUN V100 and V210 from Solaris 8 >>> 10 01/06 in the next time.
Does someone know, if its possible to run liveupgrade therefore , and if such an update from 8 >>> 10 is possible at all?
... other ideas ?
Thanks for a comment
TOROWe are researching just such a thing now with Sun. If you have the partitions to devote to Solaris 10, then yes, Liveupgrade will work. I can't give details as we have not worked out the details but Sun has shown it too us.

Updates to solaris 8 x86 early access?
I have finally updated my solaris 7 to solaris 8 and I am unable
to find any updates on the net. I have the early access version from
November, 99 and its causing me some pain (a lot more pain than
solaris 7).
There doesn't seem to be a recommended patch cluster, but I have to
believe there have been many changes since November.
Any pointers would be helpfull. The final product is available since march 2000. There's also a
june 2000 release now. The media costs 75$, the licence to run it
on as many systems as you like is free (for systems with <= 8 cpus).
http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/binaries/
It's true that there's no (public) recommended patch cluster for
solaris 8, although there are patches for solaris 8. It seems
as if the patch process for solaris 8 is somewhat broken: patch
reports are not updated since april, required patches for some
products not available, like http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-solaris-patches.html#2.8,
etc... -
Upgrade from Solaris 10 06/06 to Solaris 10 11/06
Hi,
I need to upgrade from Solaris 10 06/06 to Solaris 10 11/06
What's the best way of doing this? I looked up Live Upgrade and regular update.
It seems like an upgrade is exactly the same as a fresh install. Use a DVD and boot from it.
For the Live Upgrade I can upgrade while system is in production.
Shouldn't this type of upgrade (same main release, just updated) be easy, like updating packages or patching the system?
Any comments, maybe I missed something major like upgrading by just adding a few simple packages and rebooting. When I try an upgrade, I never get prompted to
upgrade.
I get all the way to the point where it asks which
disk to install to.There are various things that can disable the upgrade option, but the installer is very opaque about what it's doing.
The most common thing is if /etc/vfstab can't be easily parsed to find all the OS filesystems. If there's any strange mounts that aren't OS related, you might want to remove them from /etc/vfstab and just make sure that you preserve the location that the data resides.
You need to have one and only one partition visible on your disks with tag 'root'. I think that confuses the upgrade if there's more than one.
Is the upgrade option after this? From the manuals I
got that all info such as hostname, ip and everything
else should be recognized from previous installs.
But it asks me to input all of these. It's after the host identification section, but at the beginning of the Solaris installation section.
So if it's asking for cluster level or which disks, it's past the point.

Relink failed when migrating EBS from Solaris to Linux
Hi,
I am migrating EBS 12.1.1 instance from Solaris 10 to Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.5.
Oracle version 11.1.0.7.0.
And binutils version is :
$ rpm -qa | grep binutils
binutils-2.17.50.0.6-14.el5
Using note when doing step 8 of 438086.1 note, Download and apply the customer-specific update with AutoPatch
There is plenty of space available in the partition and R+W access is given to os user.

Maintenance updates for Solaris 8
Can some one help us find maintenance updates for Solaris 8. I am particularly looking for update 7 on Solaris 8 on Sun SPARC. I am unable to track this from sun site downloads. Please help us urgenly.
thanks,
MohanSolaris 8 is E.O.L.
Limited support is available to customers with Service Contracts.
http://www.sun.com/service/eosl/solaris/solaris_vintage_eol_5.2005.xml
Also see Infodoc 70063 (accessible for contract customers only).
If you have such a contract on your Solaris licenses, contact Sun Support directly. -
How to flash bios on Sun Fire X2100 (without cd/dvd drive ) from solaris.
Hi I have the following problem. I need to udpdate bios in my sun fire x2100 (not the m2 version). Installed system on it is the latest solaris 10. I have also one laptop with sxce b107. I need to update bios to support zfs root/mirror.
Both devices are int the one subnet.
I download supplement cd from sun, but I was pretty amazed that there is available only remote update from rhel (32bit) or boot from cd/dvd drive.
Any help is welcome.
Lubos Kocman1. If an OS is installed:
- log in as you described
- shutdown the server with `init 0`
- this should bring you to the OK prompt
- Insert the bootable system software CDROM into the CDROM drive
- On the OK prompt, type `boot cdrom`
2. If no OS is installed:
- connect to the serial management port with your PC (Hyperterminal)
-> NOTE: you will need a DB-25 Adapter (Part No. 530-2889)
connect this adapter to the serial port of your PC, then connect the adapter
with an RJ45 cable to the serial management port of the server
-> Serial Port Settings in Hyper Terminal:
Duplex: Full
Bit Rate: 9600
Parity: None
Databits: 8
Stopbit: 1
Flow Control: Xon/Xoff
VT100 Emulation (if applicable): ON
- change to the OK prompt by typing `break`
-> if this does not work, try `reset -x`
- make sure your OS Installation CDROM is in the drive
- at the OK prompt, type `boot cdrom` -
Upgrade from Solaris 11 Express to Solaris 11 Release (11/11); Guide MIA?
Would there be an easy way to upgrade from Solaris 11 Express to Solaris 11 Release (11/11)? The FAQ for Solaris 11 Release has the following hopeful text:
Can I upgrade to Oracle Solaris 11 from Oracle Solaris 11 Express or Oracle Solaris 11 Early Adopter?
Yes. Customers can upgrade to Oracle Solaris 11 by using the package management tools. Refer to the Oracle Solaris 11
Transition Guide (http://www.oracle.com/pls/topic/lookup?ctx=E23824&id=MF JAI) for more information
But that link comes up with an error page 404, "topic not found".
The one transition guide I can find is:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E23824_01/html/E21799/index.html
But that covers Solaris 10 jumpstart, not Solaris 11 Express or Early Adopter.
The Solaris 11 documentation at:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris11/documentation/index.html
Also seems to mention only Solaris 10, not 11 Express or Early Adopter.
I have already downloaded the full repo for Solaris 11 Release, and the live installer, but I'm hoping it's something as simple as pointing the ips manager to a new repository, or just loading the full repo I already have as a local source. I would also like to keep the dtrace and sun studio set up I have now in the Express version, without reinstalling them on a new release version on bare metal.
If it keeps the features of the express version while ironing out a few kinks (gdm authentication bug, etc.), that would rock.
Many Thanks,
GordonAlan, Thank You, that worked with no problem at all. 11 Express was already using the correct repository, and only required a pkg command update, then other updates.
So here's what I'm guessing:
1. The Oracle Solaris maintained repository for Express and Early Adopter are now the same as Release, but they do require an updated pkg executable and pkg update command.
2. The second form of the command mentioned in the update guide:
# pkg set-publisher -g http://pkg.oracle.com/solaris/release
-G http://internal.co.com/solaris solaris
is for using a local copy of the repository within our lan or vpn wan.
3. Updates should be fairly regular now that Solaris 11 is in release version.
I think the new hash (SHA 256) fried some of our old gdm settings for our users, so we're creating new user accounts, and migrating the older accounts. We don't have too many, so it's not a problem for us. But that brings up another point:
4. The graphical user manager in Express is now gone, and user and group management are now done with command line interface.
That's fine with me as well. I always use ssh to connect to the machine and then run the screen command for administration. The graphical user manager was always kludgy in Express, and I couldn't get it to work correctly anyway.
This is great stuff so far. Well done.

Any help/pointer would really be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mayank BatraThanks Pankaj and Patrick.
My endeca installation works absolutely fine.
When i install endeca with platform services, mdex and tools and framework , I can create the application, initialize, load baseline and baseline update my application beautifully, until I do the baseline index from ATG side.
Once I do that , I am unable to perform indexing from Endeca also.
What I need to do is reinstall the endeca(platform services for least) to resolve this - I have been doing this for quite some time now :(
My Endeca Workbench instance is up, running and reachable on port 8006.
The PlatformServices\workspace\logs\shell\ATGen.emgr_update_set_post_forge_dims.log has following one liner :
ERROR: Could not open acquire_lock.status.
I tried running the baseline index from ATG again and following is what I get in logs this time around :

Delta records not updating from DSO to CUBE in BI 7
Hi Experts,
Delta records not updating from DSO to CUBE
in DSO keyfigure value showing '0' but in CUBE same record showing '-I '
I cheked in Change log table in DSO its have 5 records
ODSR_4LKIX7QHZX0VQB9IDR9MVQ65M - -1
ODSR_4LKIX7QHZX0VQB9IDR9MVQ65M - 0
ODSR_4LIF02ZV32F1M85DXHUCSH0DL - 0
ODSR_4LIF02ZV32F1M85DXHUCSH0DL - 1
ODSR_4LH8CXKUJPW2JDS0LC775N4MH - 0
but active data table have one record - 0
how to corrcct the delta load??
Regards,
JaiHi,
I think initially the value was 0 (ODSR_4LH8CXKUJPW2JDS0LC775N4MH - 0, new image in changelog) and this got loaded to the cube.
Then the value got changed to 1 (ODSR_4LIF02ZV32F1M85DXHUCSH0DL - 0, before image & ODSR_4LIF02ZV32F1M85DXHUCSH0DL - 1, after image). Now this record updates the cube with value 1. The cube has 2 records, one with 0 value and the other with 1.
The value got changed again to 0 (ODSR_4LKIX7QHZX0VQB9IDR9MVQ65M - (-1), before image &
ODSR_4LKIX7QHZX0VQB9IDR9MVQ65M - 0, after image). Now these records get aggregated and update the cube with (-1).
The cube has 3 records, with 0, 1 and -1 values....the effective total is 0 which is correct.
Is this not what you see in the cube? were the earlier req deleted from the cube?
