Update from Yosemite beta to Yosemite release

If I install Yosemite beta or Yosemite developer preview, and then I start using it for development and personal use and find that I'd rather just update to the release version of Yosemite, is it possible? Would I need to install the release version of Yosemite, or would I just be able to download an update and it would take the usual ~3 minutes and a restart?

When I look in "about this mac" - it says Yosemite 10.10. Do I really need to download it again?
I found on a blog that someone contacted the Apple service:
“simply install the final version of the software you are testing when it appears in Software Update” – that means the final version of the beta software you are given to test is what will be made public. So we’re on the same build as what is now in the App Store.
My compute OSX is 10.10 but build is (14A388b) while some say that app store version is (build 14A389).
Does it really make a difference? If I don't download it will it continue to update?

Just updated from snow leopard to yosemite and can't use or update iPhoto- help??

i tried to download the free iPhoto 9.6 app but i can't.
Where did you try to download that? This looks like you tried to download an updater.
Move iPhoto.app from your applications folder to the Trash.
    Launch the App Store.
Sign in with your AppleID in the Store menu.
Click the first tab "Featured" and enter iphoto into the search field. Hit the "Return/Enter" key.
You should be seeing something similar to this:
If you see iPhoto, download it.

  • Yosemite beta to full release

    Hi, all.
I was using Yosemite Beta and installed the current version once released. My computer is still very buggy and I am not sure I installed it clean with the final version. Is there a way to be sure or how would it be best to wipe and reinstall Yosemite fresh and new? It says I am running Yosemite 10.
    Thanks in advance!

Boot into recovery mode and reinstall the OS. Then, install the 10.10.1 update that they released today. Reinstalling overwrites all OS-related files. That's a clean as you can get.

  • How to remove updates from app store in yosemite

I'm using iWork '09 installed on Yosemite and i receive the alert to update to the new version Keynote, Pages and Number.
Apparently there is no way to remove/dismiss the update's reminder forever or just delete the update request in the App Store list.
    Any advice?
    Thanks.

I have given you an answer twice: you can't do that. The only way to remove an app from the list of updates in the App Store is to accept the update.

  • Can i update from Snow leopard to Yosemite and still use old programs?

If I update from Snow leopard (10.6.8) to Yosemite will my old programs work? I'm referring to Freehand MX, Adobe Suite SC2, Microsoft office 2004. I cannot afford to replace ANY of them (I got a Mac when I was diagnosed with Dyslexia while at University so the University bought it all for me).
I have an external harddrive and was routinely backing up my computer however earlier this year it stopped working saying that there asn't enough room ( i though Time Machine deleted old copies?).  I've not very tec savvy at all (and don't underatand how to wipe my external harddrive to start again nor how to set up or use time machine properly).
Please can someone help, explaining in plain English (pretend I'm 90 lol)

You are correct in saying Time Machine will delete old files off of the backend of the backup set. Why this is not happening with your Time machine drive I am not certain, but I have seen this error when, for whatever reason the boot drive was selected as the Time Machine drive
Open System Preferences > Time Machine and be sure the correct drive is selected, If not then change the selection to the correct drive.
    STOP
Otherwise, since you say you are not very tech savvy I am assuming you do not have any third party volume repair utilities and since we do not know why your drive is full rather than deleting files off of the back of the set you want to take extra precautions to be as sure as possible the Time Machine drive is healthy. So I am going to recommend an extra step in the process. I am also assuming your Time Machine drive is attached to your Mac with either a USB or Firewire interface — this will not work for network drives.
Open Disk Utility — you will find it in /Applications/Utilities on your Mac hard drive
Select the Time Machine volume and click on the Erase tab
The format should be Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
You can change the name of the drive if you want
Click on the Security Options button and move the slider one notch to the right
Click on the Erase button — this will erase the drive and write zeros to every sector on the drive which should remap any bad sectors to the spare sectors on the drive but it will take some time, so don't get anxious.
Assuming there are no errors when Disk Utility completes close it
Open System Preferences > Time Machine and reselect the Time Machine drive.
You Mac will then start a new Time Machine backup set. This may take several hours depending on the speed of your Mac the speed of the connection to the Time Machine drive and the speed of the Time Machine drive itself.

  • My Firefox just updated from 4 betas to 3.6, why

I had to restart my browser and when I did, it did an update for Firefox, but it went from 4 beta to 3.6.13. I have the addons that were in my browser before I updated yesterday to 4 beta again and I can't access my Firefox 4 beta browser now.

You probably lost the desktop shortcut to start the Firefox 4 beta version.
The Firefox 4 beta versions install in a separate program folder.
Create a new shortcut to the beta version.
    "C:\Program files\Mozilla Firefox 4.0 Beta 8\firefox.exe"

  • Update from Yosemite Beta to Public Release Issues

I have been using the Yosemite Public Beta for a few months now, and I am wanting to install the public release of Yosemite from the Mac App Store. Every time I download the full install from the App Store and start installation, about 80% of the way to completion, my MacBook just resets and goes back to my desktop? The install app is deleted and the App Store does not show that I have installed it? Am I doing something wrong?

You cannot...there iOS no incremental download.  You have to go to the App Store, Purchases and download all 5.16 GB of the installer.  There were minor changes in going to the final, but the requirement now is to download the complete installer.  It comes into Finder, Applications as OS X Yosemite Installer.

  • There are too many questions "like" mine, so here it is: I updated from Mountain Lion to Yosemite, I can't open iphoto 9.1.5, I am directed to the app store, I "accept" iphoto upgrade and enter my credentials, but no update occurs. :-(

Attempting iPhoto upgrade from 9.1.5 to 9.5.

How many questions like yours should there be? What exactly do you expect the volenteers here to do about what you personally consider "too many questions"?
To move to iphoto 9.6 (required for Yosemite) You must log in to the App store  using the Apple ID that was used to set up the compter (or purchase the application if it was purchased later), backup your iPhoto library and then download and install iPhoto 9.6 from the App store
If that is not working then you must contact App store suport - link is on the right of the App store window

  • Cannot Update From iOS Beta 1 to Beta 2?

Well I've got the iOS Beta 1 Software on my iPod Touch 4th Generation and I know it's the first Beta. It's great but when I go to software update, it says it's up to date on iOS 6.0 without offering me an update to Beta 2. I am positive it's the first Beta. Is there any other way of checking which Beta I have just to be sure or another way i can update without restoring? In General Settings under about I get this for the version: 6.0 (10A5316k)
I'm pretty sure that is Beta 1. So how come I cannot update?!?
    Thank You for any help.

Pls. use the confidential iOS 6 beta forums, thanks.

  • Installation problems when trying to update from 7.7.4 to release 7.7.5.

I had installation problems trying to go from Qtime level 7.7.4 to new version 7.7.5    I get an error message after the download and on the reinstall.  It basically tells me to download and install manually.  Tried this (even running as administrator and get another error message basically telling me the same thing to download and install manually.  Anyone have the same thing happen and if so how did you get it fixed?

I'm having a similar problem. I get a message stating that "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable". It allows me to enter an alternate path a folder containing the installation package (Quick Time.msi). No matter which msi I point it to, I get the same message. I have to cancel out of the installation. I'm trying to get current so I can purchase Quick Time Pro. Anyone know what "feature" it's looking for?

  • I updated from Mavericks to OS X Yosemite without backup

    Hello,
    First , i have a
    iMac (24-inch Mid 2007)
Processor 2.4 GHz intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 4GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
Storage Capacity 32.23 GB free of 319.21 GB
I haven't try any temporary fixes  other than restart and download again.
Problem: I update from Mavericks to SO Yosemite without back-up. Everything is great but now iPhoto will not open even after I downloaded the iPhoto Library Upgraded available from Apple.
Question: Anyone else having the same problem and if so how do i fix this?
Problem: I have an external hard drive of 500 GB for my Time Machine but afraid to use it because it might delete my previous work  and photo.
Question: How can i recover my photos?
    Thanks,
    Eric

I have a 2008 iMac and a 2008 MacBook Pro and had the same issue with iPhoto after installing Yosemite.
I downloaded the latest iPhoto and then got the message to run the iPhoto Library Upgrader which I did. After that I opened the new iPhoto and it upgraded all my pics.
Are you sure you have the latest iPhoto - available free from the App Store?

  • How to update from Yosemite Beta 6 to Public Release?

Does anyone know how to upgrade from the Yosemite Beta (6th release) to the final release? I don't think Apple is suggesting it, but I'm not going to roll back to Mavericks to then upgrade to Yosemite again, but I want to make sure my OS isn't stuck on the 6th Preview.
When I go to the App Store to update, it says I'm already on Yosemite, but still shows "Download" as an option. Want to be sure I'm not missing something.
