I cant update garageband to 6.05 ... App Store says i have update available but when i try to update ... there is an error ... i have an imac 21.5 garageband was preinstalled.. tyied to download and this messege apperse ....

The GarageBand Update at the App Store will only update GarageBand if it was purchased from the App Store.
To Update the preinstalled version of GarageBand, open GarageBand and then go up on the Menu bar to Check for Updates...
Note the above screenshot is for the preinstalled version of GarageBand 06' and may not acuratlly represent the location of Check for Updates in GarageBand 11.

  • IPad 2 keeps saying "Application cannot be downloaded at this time" when I try to update GarageBand

I'm trying to update GarageBand on my iPad 2 and I keep getting an error message saying that the "Application cannot be downloaded at this time." It's been saying that for nearly a week. I have 4.8GB of free space. And I just updated to the most current iOS. I've shut down and restarted the iPad multiple times. I've deleted multiple other apps. Anyone have any ideas as to what is wrong?

    Hi tmcrae
First check that your device is not full, maybe you may have to delete some photos or apps to make space to do updates. if its not full then you will have to try pluging it into your pc/mac running itunes then doing a backup and restore. Then you should be able to do your updates.
Sorry but i cant think of any other way if its showing as installed already but is not there.
    Hope that helps

  • The update "GarageBand Update" can't be installed

"The update “GarageBand Update” can’t be installed
A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
Once while installing an update I lost net connectivity. Since then whenever I download this particular update i get an error msg. All other updates work just fine.
    How do I rectify this?

try downloading the update by hand from the apple website instead of using Software Update.

  • Problem updating GarageBand Version 5.0 to current

I have GarageBand 09 Version 5.0 (356). I went to GarageBand "Check for Update" and it said:
I clicked on the "Learn More" where I then navigated to the iLife 11 upgrade and to the individual iLife software upgrades. When I selected update to GarageBand, I received the following message:

p.s. I tried to update the other software i.e iPhoto, iMovie and I received the same responses I got when I tried to update GarageBand.

A new version of GarageBand is available with iLife ’11

GarageBand is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates.
It is like I am stuck in a loop. Go to Update says an Update is available, then I try to Update and it says the  Garage band is already installed and for me to choose Software Update again.

That's what I figured from what I've been reading. Will have to see what the cost might be and if it's a worthwhile investment considering the age of the computer.
You can get a first-gen Mac Pro on eBay for around $300. It can run OS 10.4 through 10.7. Something to consider, depending on the cost of a logic board and the hassle of replacing it. You transfer your existing drives, as long as you have a spare external drive. You would clone your G5 drives to the external drive as disk images, then move the G5 drives to the Mac Pro, re-format them GUID, and clone back the contents from the disk images on the external. I did this recently when I retired my G5.

  • Can't Update Garageband.

ok. so is there a regular update for garageband, just like there's one for iTunes? Because I know my school recently updated garageband, but when I tried the other day, it said that 2.0.2 was the latest version, and couldn't be updated.
mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   I like Chicken Wings

2.0.2 is the latest (last) version of GarageBand version 2. To get version 3 you need to buy iLife '06

  • Why do I have to pay for update garageband in lion?

I just bought new macbook air which is os x lion. so garageband come with it. But I saw update garageband in app store, then i clicked. I lost money for update.
I need to know why i lost 14.99$ with update for garageband? If it come with lion, i should update for free?

It's not really a "problem" since the version of Garageband on the Mac App Store and the version on your Mac you just bought are the same version you did not need to buy Garageband. In the future all updates to Garageband, and the other iLife apps that came pre-installed on your Mac will come through Software Update.
You can email MAS support from this page and see if they will help you.

You mean, MacOS X 10.9.2 and GarageBand 10.0.2?
How far does the download proceed? Do you get an error message?
Try to resume the download as described here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4485

  • Question about updating garageband!

Hello! I am trying to update garageband, which is currently 6.0.3 to version 6.0.5. I have run the general software update, as well as try to update the garageband app from the app store and was told I needed "Mac OSX 10.9.0 or later." what's next?!

Just a caution,Lilly; before you decide to update to "Mac OSX 10.9.0 or later." , check, if you are using any applications or other software (device drivers for printers, scanners, audio devices) that will no longer work with Mavericks 10.9.1. Look at the developer's websites.
And make a full TimeMachine backup of your system, before you upgrade. This way you can always revert to the previous system, if you should not like it.
The upgrade to MacOS X 10.9 and GarageBand 10 are free. You can download both simply from the AppStore.
The "GarageBand 10" installer will leave GarageBand 6.0.5 installed in a subfolder, don't delete it, for you may need it for the things, that GarageBand 10.0 does not yet support, like podcasts or custom sampler instruments.

I will be most appreciative for any help.

  • How do I update GarageBand after upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1

I have GarageBand on my MacBook Pro but have recently upgraded to Yosemite OS X 10.10.2. I wanted to use GarageBand but rec'd a message that there is a newer version. I didn't think I should have to pay for an upgrade in the App Store. How do I update my version of GarageBand?

Which version of GarageBand do you currently have?
Updates are free (when the first number of the version number stays the same), but upgrades to a major new release require a purchase (when the first part of the version number changes).  So the upgrade from GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5 to GarageBand 10.0.3 is a major upgrade, that requires a purchase.
If you decide to upgrade, do not replace your current GarageBand version, if you are currently running GarageBand 6.0.5. Keep both versions. The new GarageBand is very different from version 6.0.5 - it is more like Logic than GarageBand. It comes with nice new features like smart drummers, but but older audio units are no longer support. If you decide to upgrade your system, keep your current GarageBand as well. Both can be used in parallel and you will need the sounds and loops from the previous version to play your older projects. This forum is full of desperate questions about how to get the previous version back, because instruments are missing or podcasts no longer supported.

  • Help needed - How to update Garageband 3

    Hi!
I got my friend's old Macbook (Mac Os X 10.6.8) and am not familiar with the whole Mac world yet, so my question might be a little naive
Garageband 3 is installed but not working properly as all the loops are missing.
How can I update version 3? I downloaded version 10.0.1 but cannot be installed as it's not fitting.
Before you ask: I tried the update link in the program itself, but it's dead. I guess it's just too old now. I also tried to download the newest version, but it's only compatible with Mac Os X 10.9 and further).
    Help!!! :/
Thank you very much in advance!
    B*

The original loops are not sold separately, only additional JamPacks, if you can find them, and they are are much more expensive than buying iLife.  And I do not remember, if the JamPacks are compatible with GarageBand 3.  Did your friend transfer the installation CDs to you, when you got the Mac? If MacOS X 10.6.8 was the original system of the Mac, the installer CDs may contain bundled iLIfe applications.
