Update Genius info while connected to a different computer?

So I'm spending the year over seas and I brought my iPod touch(gen 1) along for the ride. only problem is, I can't sync it with the computer in my room due to the fact that it doesn't have my music on it. Therefore i can't use Genius. Is there any way i can update genius on my iPod without syncing?
P.S. I don't really want to pay money to but a program to move my songs off of my iPod (or jailbreak it)

Connected to a different computer and now ipod won't mount

I've searched through the discussions and I can't find anyone who has had this specific problem, but apologies in advance if this issue has already been addressed somewhere I didn't see..
My ipod and ibook have been working perfectly fine together for 6 months. Yesterday I connected my ipod to a friends ibook so we could listen to some music off my ipod on his itunes. He disconnected it without ejecting it first (I wonder if this caused the problem although I've done it before by mistake and had no major problems) and now my ipod won't mount on my desktop.
It shows up in the system profiler and in ipod updater it says ipod connected but unable to mount. When I plug it in I get two error messages saying "You have inserted a disk containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read" and "A disk attempting to mount -unknown has failed verification or has failed" When I open the disk utility and click repair in the first aid it says "Invalid BTH length" "ipod needs to be repaired"
The ipod still plays perfectly fine when not attached to the computer.
I know the simple solution is to restore the ipod but I'm VERY reluctant to do this as I have some music on my ipod that I can't reload because I didn't keep it in my itunes to save hard drive space and I've just moved countries and the hard copies are back home.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Updating to the new OS on a different computer

I want to update to the new OS, but I don't have the computer I usually sync my iPhone with. Will I loose all my apps, music, etc if I update it on a different computer?

There are about 120 irreplaceable picture from our trip through the National Parks last summer. They were taken on the mini. When I updated the OS I discovered that only a few of the pictures I took long before our trip were on the mini. All the albums were gone and there were no pictures from our trip. I remembered that we had an I cloud account and went to my PC, opened the Icloud account and there were my pictures - relief! However I wanted to get them back on my mini so I could show them to friends using "mirror" So you now know - as Paul Harvey would have put it - "the rest of the story" why I wanted to get mirror back. Is there a way to do this restore without losing my pictures?

Hi, pardon my ignorance but...
I keep all my ipod music on an external hard drive since I only have my work laptop, but the programs are on the computer. I used to never have a problem accessing itunes through my work laptop once I plugged the hard drive in.
The last time I synched my ipod there were about a dozen songs that I got a message "Some of the items in the itunes library, including..., were not copied to the ipod 'My iPod' because you are not authorized to play them on this computer". Some of the songs were explicit content, some weren't. Some I bought on iTunes, some were loaded from cds.
If I take my external hard drive and plug it into a different computer what will happen? Is there a way to get those songs back on my ipod? Again, sorry for not being too saavy. I have a 30GB video iPod.

So, were you expecting them to play when the exHD isn't plugged in? Because they won't!
Also, you need to have the exHD plugged in before you even start up iTunes, or your library file will get messed up.

I am also facing the same issue and I am not able to su to root user as the password is expired. and the user I am currently logged in does not have permission to change the root password. I just want to know how I can change the root password now? I am connected to my SPARC Solaris 10 T1000 server through hyperterminal.
The worst thing is that, I do not have IP to the server through which I can try ssh to the server and change the password. Please let me know the solution if you know.

Cannot Update Windows 7 while connected to my WRT54G.

For some reason the computers that are connected via wired or wireless through my WRT54G Vers. #6 (Firmware Version v1.02.8) will not connect for updates (Error Codes: 80072EE2-Win7, 80072EFD-Vista) especially OS, anti-virus, malware updates. This looks like I have some sort of virus, trojan, worm, or what have you, but I have Eset anti-virus software on these systems and there is no detection of anything. I have ran Spybot Seek and Destroy with no sign of spyware. These computer are not sharing files, just connected for internet. Now when I connect them each directly to the internet via cable modem they have no problem updating. All indications point to my router being the suspect, but I have not changed any settings that would have restricted any access or connections. I have Googled this to death. Is there a simple explaination for this problem? Any help is appreciated.

Ok, I'm back to being able to OS update again as well for my anti-virus updates. Some how my router was updated with some Static DNS address. I performed a complete reset of my router for I did not know what else may have been reconfigured without my knowing. Once reset I then reestablished the password for the router and network, then I rebooted my computer. All is working great. I spent a total of 4 hours working this issue with very little help from the cyber space. I hope my pain helps someone.

Can I update my phone with iOS5 on a different computer than i normally sync my phone to?

My personal computer had some issues a while back and i cant get it to update to iTunes 5. So I updated my work computer and i am wondering...
Can I update my iphone 4 with iOS 5 on my work computer, realizing it will erase my phones music, etc; and then resync my updated iOS 5 phone to my personal computer to update my media files? Will my phone keep iOS 5 and resync all my media?

The computer you normally sync to has all your data on its hard drive. Any other computer does not, and that is what it will sync to your phone: nothing.
One phone: one computer. It's a symbiosis sort of thing.

Updating Website made in iWeb from a different computer/location

I've created a wedding website for me and my fiance using iWeb on my computer - right now i'm in Greece and she is in Canada.
She has a mac and iWeb but she would like to update our webpage on her computer.
Is there a way she can change things and update the site without my computer?

My laptop totally failed and is now in pieces. I want to transfer all my songs to our desktop from my Ipod. I know how to do that but I was wondering if there is a program that maintains all the information from the songs, I really don't want to go through almost 1000 songs and enter all the information. I have tried Copytrans and Ipod2PC, but so far I don't think they can do that. And a lot of my songs are in the WAV format, so support for that would be needed too.

You might struggle with the wav format songs as you will need a tool that interogates the iPod's library rather than just examining the files & their tags since (as I'm sure you're aware) wav's don't have tags.

Updating from Elements 3 to 9 on different computer

I just purchased and installed Photoshop Elements 9 on a new computer. I have Elements 3 on an old computer (which I fear may die any day now). Is there a way to transfer everything to the new computer or am I going to have to copy the photos and recreate the catalog? I have a full backup of Elements 3 on an external drive and am hoping I could just attach that to the new one and somehow import that.

Simply use the backup/restore method.
- Be sure the catalog is clean (reconnect, repair, optimize...)
- backup from the Organizer menu to an external media (USB external drive for instance)
- Install Elements on the new computer
- Do a restore to a custom location. That means you create a new folder and when you do the restore, you state that folder in the destination path.
All files will be restored and if necessary, the catalog will be converted to the new Elements version format.

You've tried the other things on those pages e.g. tried a different USB port on your computer and a different cable, tried the other pages that the first link
If there’s an issue with the USB port, cable, dock, or hub, or if the device becomes disconnected during restore, try troubleshooting the USB connection, then troubleshooting your security software.

Updating On Different Computer

I have my ipod connected to a different computer and I have unchecked every sync option but I want to enable disk use for my ipod. It has to update to enable it. If I update it will it take everything off my ipod and put nothing on since I have everything unchecked?
