Update Greyed out on iPhone

I went to update phone.
I have 5.1.1
update was greyed out in Settings

Possible solution. After researching this for a friend (iPhone 4S) here and elsewhere online, turned out he had AppleCare and a phone call to Apple solved the problem. The Apple tech told him that this occurs in less than 1% of iPhones, and is almost always related to a glitch during a system update over wi-fi. He said people spend too much time on support boards, and should be calling Apple! (lol).
The solution is to plug the phone with a USB cable into iTunes on a computer and do a manual "Back Up Now" of the iPhone to "This Computer", not iCloud. Then completely reset the iPhone to factory settings, using "Restore iPhone" in iTunes, or "Erase All Contents and Settings" in Settings - General - Reset on the phone. Then "Restore Backup", again using iTunes. My friend said this fixed the "grey-out" wi-fi settings slider, and restored full connectivity, and he didn't lose any data. Hope this helps some of you! (I personally had no problem with my own iPhone 5).

Wi-fi greyed out on iPhone 4s after updating to ios 6.1.3

I was given an iphone 4s after a friend upgraded to the 5, I plugged in to itunes to set up and it said there was an update which I did and now the wi-fi is greyed out and will not turn on. I have tried the suggestions that apple give, the reset network seting etc and nothing has worked. There is no warrenty with the phone as its ran out. Is there a fix that actually works or has the update destroyed the phones wi-fi?
Been looking on here and there are loads of people with same problem and a lot are saying they ended up getting a new phone as covered on warrenty, but is there some way to fix this problem for those of us who can not get their phone replaced????

How can i fix a wifi switch greyed out on iphone 4s updated to ios 7

I was using wifi normally when suddenly it stopped working and i thought something went wrong with the internet connection so i turned both the wifi router and my phone off, when i turned it back on my phone s wifi switch had greyed out and i couldnt do anything about it, i tried resetting the networking settings as if it would work but it didnt, any help please ?

This is how I fixed wifi greyed out on iPhone 4S

It happened to me during a trip to Finland, wifi could not be switched on any more after iOS7.1 update, it was greyed out in control panel, I was not able to use hotel wifi, ... that cost me some Euros. Later I found, bluetooth also not working.
But at home, after running a factory reset with iTunes with no success, I finally found the fix with google, my wifi is now working again ! Lets see, how long it lasts. Its 2 weeks now.
Solution, and this is not a joke:
-Place the iPhone on a soft towel or so and keep it switched on.
-Heat it slowly with a hair dryer from the side with the earphone plug.
-After a few minutes, it warns "temperature" and turns itself off.
-Let it cool down. You then can switch it on (wifi still not working).
-Reboot now by holding home and on buttons until the Apple logo comes back. Thats it !
My iPhone 4S straight away connected to my home wifi......and still does for a couple of days now. Also some guys in this forum confirmed that trick to work.
I try to help with this, but you do it at your own risk. On my friends iPhone 4 this did not help.
I suspect, that it has something to do with the control panel. The error occured after switching wifi and flight mode from there. Currently I do only use the settings app for that. Can anybody confirm that ?

You can also try calling Apple per the article posted, or go to another Apple Store, but if you wifi is grey and those steps don't fix it, you will need service (replacement). Sorry, magic wand is out of batteries and pixie dust is depleted.

It that doesn't help, folk wisdom says to put it in a plastic bag (to prevent condensation), then put in a freezer for 15 minutes. When it comes out it may be fixed.

HT1414 My wifi is still greyed out on iphone 4s after a system restore. Help!!

I have done a system restore (via backup and not a new phone) to my iphone 4s to try to get my wi-fi button to toggle again. It is greyed out and won't respond! I would love to fix this. Does anyone have any ideas?

Songs are greyed out on iphone and itunes unable to play music

I have loaded all my songs on to imatch.
Now I am unable to play over half my itunes songs.
On my iphone they are greyed out and don't have a cloud next to them
On itunes the songs have a cloud next to them but i can't download the songs nothing happens when i pressed the button.

Is the Shuffle still configured to manually sync content to it? You can check by making sure the proper configuration is made from under the Shuffle's Summary tab in iTunes while it's connected.

ITunes - Why are certain mp3's greyed out on iPhone?

Currently have iTunes 10.5.0.142 and have an iPhone 4, running IOS 5. After opening iTunes, connected iPhone to computer, and dragged the music files to iTunes. Some songs are greyed out. It has a "Syncronizing" symbol on the left, but does nothing.

I had same problem and took half a day to figure it out... I tried everything i could think or read here and nothing worked. So i decide to restore my iPhone 4S and configure it as a new one. But before, i did some copy/paste of my photos/video folders from Windows Explorer then i've select all then tried to delete it from windows explorer..after few deleted i got a message saying that the device wasnt responding or was unpluged. But wasnt.
some files was not deletable. And in my iPhone the pictures wasnt there too but files was listed in windows explorer....
So, i did a Photos sync but choosing the Windows Sample folder only. It wiped out all my photos folder and did new one, then all my songs were synced again and all is back and playable.
I suggest, look if you have photos, videos, apps that isnt working or not deletable.. then wipe it out by an iTunes sync (unselecting sync those things or sync completely different apps or folder)
It worked for me... Hope you get it fixed too.

Video Purchased is greyed out on iPhone 3GS

I recently purchased the Blueray Combo pack of Pirates of Caribbean "On Stranger Tides". I installed the Digital Version to iTunes successfully and was able to select it to be transfered to my iPhone. It transfered just fine, but when I go under Videos, the Pirates Movie is there, but Greyed out and I cannot select it.
I have OS5 on my iPhone and Lion for an operating system so I believe everything is up to date. The thing is that I recently put the digital edition of Rio (from the Rio Blueray Combo pack) on my son's iPhone 3GS as well and that worked without a problem.
Any suggestions? Is there a setting in iTunes I need to check? I thought perhaps the resolution for Pirates might be higher than Rio, but I don't know for sure. Thanks!

Make sure in settings>music iTunes match is turned on. if that doesnt work, cut it off, then try... are you signed into the store? settings>store and make sure you are signed in.. if you are itll say your account name

Why is the automatic updater greyed out?

Not only is the automatic updater in IPhoto greyed out, I can also not manually download and install the update. I am asked to download from the app store which does not recognise that IPhoto is installed and asks me to pay for a new copy.... any ideas why????

Where did you purchase the version of iPhoto you have? Have you looked in teh App store under purchases?

Nike Settings Greyed Out on iPhone 4S

I have an iPhone 4S, and I wanted to use my Nike + sensor with it (I've been using a nano up to now).
I go into settings, Nike +, and the on/off switch is greyed out, along with all the other settings. The only thing tappable is "Go to Nike +".
I showed this to friends, and all of theirs enable them to toggle the switch to "on". Mine seems to be the anomaly.
I tried activating with a sensor in close proximity (and active), and I even tried plugging a receiver in to see if that would wake anything up, but I just got the "Your iPhone has a built-in sensor" message, with no other outcomes.
Any suggestions?

PrE 8 'updates' greyed out = can't update!

I've been having the recent problems with PrE 8 not loading/crashing and want to follow the instructions to update (An update to Premier Elements is available to resolve crash/quit issues. To install launch Adobe Premiere Elements 8 and go to Help > Updates.)
My problem is that 'updates' is greyed out and not clickable??!""

Someone on this forum mentioned that turning off McAfee solved his problem
with PE8. That suggestion is buried somewhere on this forum and I ran across it in desparation after installing PE8 on my girlfriend's computer.
Hunt (on this forum) recommends one should NEVER use real-time scanning when one is video-editing. He is right. Turn it off and don't connect to the net either. It's best to reboot your computer, turn off the scanning, and close other system tray items (if possible) and then use PE8.
I would also recommend looking for the PE .EXE (there are two) and making a shortcut to the one that is not that start-up screen. It's best to go right into the program.

Instruments record button greyed out with iPhone

When I try to profile my iPhone app using Instruments the record button is greyed out and I can't do anything.
If I try to start from xcode using the "start with performance tool" menu it just says target failed to start.
I've tried removing the iphone from the organizer and plugging it back in.
Any ideas?

I also have the same problem, and running Instruments on the Simulator is not an option, since my problem is that there are sprites that are drawn correctly on the Simlator and are not visible on the Device.
