Update HP MediaSmart DVD Error

I have an HP HDX X16T-1200 notebook and the HP Health Check software told me I need to update the HP MediaSmart DVD software to VERSION: 1.00 Rev. B.  It downloads, extracts and begins to install the program, but the install always errors out with "Error!! The product definitation file lost."  See below.
Has anyone had this problem before and know how to resolve it?
Thanks

OK, I believe I've solved the problem. Followed steps above to remove old version and clean registry, removed "DVD" folder from C drive. Downloaded latest HP Mediasmart DVD version to a saved file on desktop. The trick is to NOT click and run the self-executing installer from the icon. Instead, extract entire file to a folder with Winrar or similar app. Locate Setup.exe file (in "SRC" folder), right click it, run as administrator. Installer, finally, launches, and program installs A-OK. Sheesh. Now if I could just get my "touchsmart" buttons to work. Don't want to get greedy, though.

  • HP MediaSmart DVD C++ runtime error

    Hey guys,
I have a little problem with MediaSmart and I hope someone will know what to do...
Today, I bought "Back to the Future" trilogy on blu-ray. When I tried to play it, MediaSmart asked for update, which I did. Without the update the movie wouldn't start at all. After the update, I finally managed to get in the disk menus and went through some of the bonus materials, but when I tried to play the main movie, MediaSmart crashed with error caused by Microsoft Visual C++ runtime library. Even tried to reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ but nothing changed.
All my other blu-ray movies are working perfectly and I really have no clue what is wrong. Anyone here with similar problem?

Do a Windows restore point and go back before the time I had you install the Media Smart DVD version I gave you, At least this will get you back to square 1.
Before you do that go to drive "C" and click on "Program Files x86"  >  Hewlett-Packard  >  Media. If there is still a folder there named "DVD" then there are remnants of Media Smart DVD left that should not be there. Right click and "Delete" the DVD file and run CCleaner's registry cleaner again. Restart and run the cleaner ounce and try to install Media Smart again.
Also see this thread, it's kind of long, but there may be a solution in there.

The link takes you to page 7 where DavidPK found an Windows update that causes problems.
Try installing a trial version of Cyberlink Power DVD 10 to see if that works, ounce you are certain that Media Smart DVD is gone.

  • HP MediaSmart DVD player: sp49489 doesn't seem to fix blu-ray player "update loop"

    Good day,
I found a few threads were folks were having issues playing back blu-ray discs (BD) with HP MediaSmart (some going so far as saying things like "... not so smart", etc). I applied update sp49489 and one BD worked fine, and now I am attempting to play a more recent BD (ie, "Stolen") and I get stuck in a "update loop" where the HP MediaSmart DVD player constantly asks to check for updates, whether I hit "yes" or "no".
Any ideas how to fix this?

The first link leds to a cyberlink page where i can't continue because theres nothing to click on.
mediasmart is up to date with me, but the cyberlink BR advsor means my laptop doesn't habe a BR Player neither a software.
    i'm using Win7_64. Any suggests?

  • MediaSmart DVD update for Blu-ray on Win7

An update for the HP MediaSmart DVD application to resolve problems with Blu-Ray playback after updating to Win7 is now available.  The SoftPaq for this should show up on the each model's support and driver page in the next day or so - but here is a link to the direct update for SP44615 (non TouchSmart) and SP44616 (TouchSmart).
They will only install on HP consumer desktop systems that originally shipped with a drive capable of playing BD titles.
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL31762/pv-78788-1/sp44615.exe  for non TouchSmart PCs
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software11/COL31763/pv-78791-1/sp44616.exe for TouchSmart PCs
A couple of people from the forum have reported problems with the update - but some seem to be using it OK.   I've provided the feedback to the patch team - they are looking into it.

It sounds like there is an issue with the IDE storage driver and the drive - the fix may be in a different IDE driver or tweaks to what driver is used for the Blu-ray drive.
It sounds as if the fix that went into the update works - but likely have run into something different.   I will feed this information back to the appropriate people....

  • HP Mediasmart DVD uninstall/upgrade Win 7 Problems -HELP ME!

    Hi Everybody,
So, I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9180t CTO Desktop PC that came equipped with Vista Home Premium. I upgraded to Win7 Home Premium through HP's upgrade program. I have a Blu-Ray drive and use HP Mediasmart DVD (Cyberlink) for Blu-Ray playback. I am trying to upgrade to the latest version to be able to watch the latest Blu-Ray discs.... Now, if I try to go through the update that is offered by Mediasmart the update fails. I either get stuck in the loop of the installer telling me"cyberlink dvd suite detected in your system please uninstall first" and then it asking me to do so, it then fails to uninstall. Or, if I try to launch the sp44451 that I downloaded from HP Support, I get the "product file definition lost" error.... Basically, I am stuck with a 2.xxx version of the Mediasmart and I cannot upgrade to a 3.xx or 4.xx version... I have been all over the web. I saw this link http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-TV-Tuners-and-Media/HP-MediaSmart-DVD-won-t-play-Blu-Ray-s/m-p... and follwed the instructions from fkee4 (about 2/3 down). This basically screwed me and did not solve my problem but only gave me more... A couple of things I have seen:
-Some people say I should have uninstalled HP Medasmart before my Win7 upgrade from Vista (Ok, I did not. Didn't know had to) But what do I do now instead? How in the heck do I uninstall ver 2.xxx?
-Some people say use Revo Uninstaller to get rid of HP Mediasmart. (I tried it, didn't work and got rid of HP programs I actually liked)
I cannot be the only one out there with this issue, yet I can't find a decent source for telling me how to accurately fix it. I really don't want to have to call HP (India) to try and get this resolved as my previous experiences with them were a joke. Has anyone resolved this problem? Do I just do a fresh reinstall of the OS? I would like to not have to, but if it will solve my problem, then I will. Is there some patch out there I have not found? Any help would be great. Thanks for your time.
P.S. Is there a HP moderator out there watching this who can help?

I would try ordering a set of the Windows 7 recovery disks from HP.  Contact HP support and see if that is possible. That way everything is clean for W7.  I don't know if your buildID will prevent the W7 recovery disks from working but the disks are fairly inexpensive.  Be sure to backup your data.

  • HP Mediasmart DVD - Blu Ray Problem

    Hi I have a HP Pavilion dv6t-2300.
Last month I had a problem trying to play some blurays with the media smart. It was like the player tries to rplay the disk but after a while nothing happened, so I tried to update the software but it displayed an error during installation (something about it couldn't find a dll file in the mediasmart dvd folder), I tried to uninstall it but the same problem was displayed. After struggling with that, i decided to restore my laptop with the recovery disks.
It worked, I was able to watch my blurays, but recently the same problem returned. So I did a little research, and I found that the PC or the device manager sees 2 BD drives (F and H). I also found that I can see all the bluray disk files but I cannot play any of them on the media smart dvd.
I also installed the Power DVD 10, to test it as a trial and it cannot play the movies either, it says that the disk has an unrecognize media format, or something like that.
So I decided to try to update with the lastest version (4.2.4701) but the error I talked about earlier appeared again, I have the previous version (4.1.4328).
Since the media smart dvd worked until now I only run a few windows updates and some HP updates (like Quick launch buttons and chipset). I wonder if these updates have some relation with the problem.
BTW: I can watch DVD movies with no problem in the Media Smart DVD, the issue only appears with BD disks.
I hope you can help me...
    Thanks in advance.

  • HP Mediasmart DVD continues to start

I am using a DV7. Recently  HP Mediasmart DVD has started to spontaneously start-up. I will not allow to close. It also starts when trying to run recovery or any other action. About half of my desktop items have changed to the microsoft logo. The only action I can link it to is a Microsoft .NET update. As I cannot delete HP Mediasmart, and I cannot run recovery, I have lost my options for fixing. Anyone else any ideas?

Also reposting another post I left on another thread with more info of my situation:
"But for real. I was trying to explain this issue to my girlfriend last night and she was like, "but my crappy old DVD player has never had an issue playing any DVD I put in it, so why would your $1200 computer have a problem?"
And there we are. I totally agree with her. It is complete BS. Not to mention I took the other poster's advice and downloaded Slysoft and whala...perfect picture quality, no encryption or "need to update your software" errors at all.
So this is 100% a licensing / copyright update issue and HP / Cyberlink are just behind the curve. What I can't understand is how can Netflix and others be sending out discs that don't work in people's stand alone Bluray players?? And if they do in fact work in the stand alone players then why in the hell would they NOT work in a high speed / media center spec built always online always connected computer which could download new codecs/updates every single day if it required to do so??
I don't get it. I'm gonna complain to HP today because this is 100% a licensing issue. And to think they almost had me roll back my whole **bleep** computer and delete all my files and settings. All I had to do was a 10sec download and everything works perfectly. But I don't want to pay for Slysoft...its F-ing expensive. I'm pissed."

  • Audio playback problem with HP mediasmart DVD player

Hi I have just set up my computer and linked it to my tv with a HDMI lead, I have been able to toggle between my pc speakers and my tv speakers on programmes such as windows media player and other HP mediasmart programmes but when I use HP mediasmart DVD player - a DVD will allow me to change from pc speakers to HDMI but I cannot change to HDMI (TV) sound when playing a Blu-Ray disk. I have tried changing my defult to HDMI and its just not working when playing BLU-RAY disks. anyone got any ideas? i have all the latest updates (running windows 7)

I have a ThinkPad T61p which I got one year ago. About one month ago the following problem suddenly appeared: When I want to play a DVD with WinDVD, I get the message "no valid Drive/Disc Found". When I eject and then start the DVD again, it takes about 4 minutes to start the DVD. Everything is very slow, the movie is croppy and I can often hear the laser head moving back and forward. I don't have any problems with other media like CDs or self printed DVDs with no region code and copy protection. I also have no problems with another DVD drive of the same kind (I have a DVD/CD-ROM drive). I tried to solve the problem with the troubleshooter (I have Windows XP), but nothing helped. My settings seem to be all right. Could anyone help me with this problem?

  • HP Mediasmart DVD on a6750t will not output 5.1 channel data via SPDIF or HDMI

So I got a new customized HP desktop on Friday. Started to play with it on Saturday. I called Sunday morning to request an RMA number and return shipping label. Here is my saga:
Started HP issue calls at 3:47am FEB 15th 2009
Gion (per rep spelling) stated return will be handled through warrantee/support department). He stated HP does not allow them to release a badge number. Ticket# xxxxxx3374.
    (Transferred to warrantee/support department)
(The line was full of static- asked for the 800 to call back. Person said he didn’t have the number I called in on. Had to log on to www.hp.com. Found the number to call was 1 (800) 474-6836. I called this number.)
Satya (per rep spelling) answered the line. I informed rep that I am not receiving any 5.1 output from the Blu-ray disk software that was provided by HP (HP Mediasmart DVD). Advised him that all MS products, DVD's, and HD devices were sending 5.1 channel output to my Yamaha receiver. [DVD’s are the important part. As the same drive is used for BOTH DVD and Blu-Ray, it is my opinion that the hardware is working fine.] I reiterated many times that the only thing not sending 5.1 channel data was the HP MediaSmart DVD software player for Blu-Ray disks.
Satya ran various tests and wanted to “call back tomorrow with a solution“. He seemed to think that perhaps there was a problem with hardware and possibly I had not received something in my order.
I clearly started I wanted a RMA number and I wanted to return the product. Satya refused saying he had to "research" the problem before he could issue the RMA number and return the product. He said he would call me between 2pm and 5pm tomorrow (MST) (I informed him it was currently 4:49 am at my location.)
The problem is not with the hardware. All Microsoft software products that offer 5.1 channel support are sending via SPDIF (optic cable) 5.1 channel data. Again, all DVDs and other 5.1 devices (HD PVR) are sending (via SPDIF) 5.1 channel data to my Yamaha receiver. The only thing not outputting in 5.1 is the Blu-ray disk software player (HP Mediasmart DVD). DVD’s are ran using the Blu-ray drive (only one on the system) and are sending 5.1 channel data with no issues.
Ended HP issue calls 4:52am FEB 15th 2009
So, any other suggestions? I have tried various things like HDMI-Passthrough, HDMI-PCM, SPDIF, and 6 speaker output on the HP MediaSmart DVD Blu-ray software player application to no avail.
    This question was solved.

Decided to try some trial Blu-ray programs to see if this issue can indeed be resolved with a different software package.
Corel’s WinDVD9 would not play a Blu-ray disk. I received no errors. The program loaded the disk, after about 10 seconds stopped and went back to the main screen.
Cyberlink PowerDVD had a trial limitation that does not allow Blu-ray disk playback.
ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater (TMT) works flawlessly. Outputs in 5.1 surround with no issues, therefore my assumption that it’s a software issue is correct.
Due to the problem being software related, I will call HP to see if there is a way they can send me a different Blu-ray software player. I like the system and do not really want to ship this back to HP. There is a sale tomarrow and I might even buy another system for my mother if HP will work this out.
HP call start at 2:06 am FEB 16th 2009
Called 1 (800) 474-6836. Satya answered the line. He asked if his supervisor had called me. I stated no, I had only received his call at 7:47pm and I had placed a call to Bridgette at 8:37 pm for a RMA number and shipping label.
I advised him I was willing to try and work with HP now that I found it was indeed a software issue. I asked him if there was a possibility of getting a different software player that would work with my setup. I advised that on my own I found that ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater (TMT) trial version works (based on me installing a trial version). Its my understanding that HP provides many software titles from ArcSoft including a MediaConverter I also purchased for the desktop.
He placed me on hold to find out.
He said HP doesn’t carry or support ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater. He said he would have a supervisor call me back within 24 hours with a solution. I advised him to stop the RMA. He stated an RMA had not been issued yet. I gave him the RMA number I had and advised I had received a shipping label via email from Bridgette per my earlier call. He placed me back on hold to check.
He said he cancelled the RMA and would have a supervisor call me back between 2pm - 5pm (within 24 hours).
Call ended at 2:34 pm FEB 16th 2009
I am guessing that HP support is not enpowered to solve a problem like mine. I would have been willing to work out something with HP but its is seeming more and more that HP really doesnt want my business. The issue here is software limitation PLAIN AND SIMPLE. I paid (in part) for a Blu-ray player that would play Blu-ray disks and output sound in 5.1. The TRIAL version of ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater works fine. Therefore the hardware is fine.
Without a different software player shipped to me OR me buying the ArcSoft TotalMedia Theater software for 80 dollars, I am forced to listen to Blu-ray disks in 2 channels. I would like to work with HP but if HP will not work with me then I have no choice than to return the product.

  • HP MediaSmart DVD software and major Blu-ray issues

In September 2010, I bought an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 250-f desktop computer (running Windows 7). This computer was advertised as having a Blu-ray DVD player, as well as players for regular DVDs and CDs. From September 2010 to October 2014, I successfully played regular DVDs and CDs. But in October 2014, for the first time, I needed to view a Blu-ray DVD. Specifically, I needed to view the "Divergent" Blu-ray.
When I tried to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray (which was made in 2014), the HP MediaSmart DVD software (version 3.1.1.3317) and the Windows Media Player detected the Blu-ray but were not able to play the Blu-ray.
Next, I downloaded the Media Player Codec Pack, http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html. This Codec Pack was supposed to help Windows Media Player play the Blu-ray. That did not work.
I then downloaded Cyberlink PowerDVD 14, which played the Blu-ray for only about 7 seconds before crashing.
I downloaded TotalMedia Theatre version 6.0.1.123. However, this software did not even detect the Blu-ray.
Recently, I decided to revisit this issue. I installed the most advanced version of HP MediaSmart DVD. I installed HP TouchSmart DVD, version 4.1.2.5122.
TouchSmart flawlessly played disk 1 of the 2-disk "Star Trek" Blu-ray set (made in 2009). However, TouchSmart was not able to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray at all. After failing to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray, TouchSmart attempted to play disk 2 of the "Star Trek" Blu-ray set. TouchSmart played disk 2 with poor video.
Next, for some strange reason, TouchSmart became totally inaccessible. I could not start TouchSmart. I rebooted the computer. TouchSmart was then able to play the "Divergent" regular DVD, but was unable to play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays at all.
I did a system restore to the point just after the installation of TouchSmart. TouchSmart played regular DVDs well, but still could not play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays at all.
Next, I got rid of TouchSmart and installed HP MediaSmart DVD, version 4.1.4229 (sp49489.exe). MediaSmart 4.1.4229 flawlessly played the "Speed" Blu-ray (made in 2006). However, MediaSmart 4.1.4229 failed to play either of the "Star Trek" Blu-rays. And after failing to play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays, MediaSmart 4.1.4229 played "Speed" with poor video.
So, it appears that any specific version of HP MediaSmart DVD software will play old Blu-rays successfully, and will then subsequently fail to play more advanced, more recent Blu-rays. After that version fails to play the more advanced Blu-rays, that version will play the old Blu-rays, not as flawlessly as before, but rather with poor video quality or not at all.
I have read many threads on the HP forums and on other forums about people having trouble playing Blu-ray DVDs on a wide variety of HP computers. I went back to the specifications of my HP computer, and I found the following disclaimer about that computer's Blu-ray capabilities:
As Blu-Ray is a new format containing new technologies, certain disc, digital connection, compatibility and/or performance issues may arise, and do not constitute defects in the product. Flawless playback on all systems is not guaranteed. In order for some Blu-ray titles to play, they may require a DVI or HDMI digital connection and your display may require HDCP support. HD-DVD movies cannot be played on this Desktop PC. Some HD DVD and Blu-ray advanced features may not be supported. CPU power is dedicated to support HD DVD and Blu-ray playback functions. It is recommended that you close all other applications before and during HD DVD and Blu-ray playback. HD DVD and Blu-ray movies will only play through the HD DVD and Blu-ray player software. Advanced Access Content System (AACS) keys are integrated into your PC for copy protection purposes. Occasional renewal of the AACS key is required, and easily done by connecting to the internet.
I believe that I have gone way above and beyond ordinary diligence, to try to get my computer to play Blu-ray DVDs. The disclaimer states that certain issues may arise and that flawless Blu-ray playback is not guaranteed for all systems. But certainly my frustrating experiences, and the frustrating experiences of others, go way beyond the leeway given by HP's disclaimer, do they not? Has anyone thought about the possibility of a class-action lawsuit against HP?

In "Device Manager", under "DVD/CD-ROM drives", I see the following:
    hp BDDVDRW CH20L
I click on "hp BDDVDRW CH20L", and I see several tabs.
In the tab marked "Driver", we have the following:
    Driver Provider:   Microsoft
    Driver Date:           6/21/2006
    Driver Version:     6.1.7601.17514
    Digital Signer:      Microsoft Windows
In that same tab, clicking on "Driver Details" gives us the following:
    Driver files:      C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys
    Provider:           Microsoft Corporation
    File version:    6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255)
Copyright:       Microsoft Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
    Digital Signer:   Microsoft Windows
I think that, back in October 2014, when this Blu-ray issue first came up, I updated the driver. That may be why you see the following different versions :
    6.1.7601.17514
    6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255)
So, how would I update the firmware? To what version should I update the firmware?

  • MediaSmart DVD and Blu Rays

Hi.  I know this question has been asked before (because I've read it in a bunch of other posts) but I'm still having a problem.
My Blu Ray player was working just fine (I just watched UP about a month ago) until I bought the new Harry Potter movie.  When I put it in the player, everything went to hell.  It says "content is protected" and something about not being able to play in this display type.  And now my other Blu Rays won't play either
So - I've already gone through the basics....I've used Revo Uninstaller to completely remove the old version of MediaSmart DVD.  I've downloaded several different versions of MediaSmart and installed them (while being sure to restart a hundred times in between installations and making sure I've completely removed the old ones)  I've turned off Norton 360 and Windows Firewall while installing them.  And still none of my Blu Rays will play.
Please please help me.  I have a HP Pavillion DV7 3065DX running Windows 7.  I don't do anything too fancy on the computer except play on the internet and use Itunes (and watch movies....well....used to)  If you can fix this, I will name my second child after you....

That sucks, but at least your itunes are back. I don't have anything else, sorry. Except Nuke and Pave.
Do a system restore and use David's method to install the latest Media Smart.
After that it should work, start installing your programs in one at a time to see what is interfering with the Blu-ray player.
You could also try installing a trial version of Cyberlinks Power DVD 11 before doing a system restore, but unfortunately that's not free.
Personally I have had problems with Media Smart too, and I do have Power DVD 8. I will eventually update to Power 11.
The frustrating thing about this is that my Media Smart plays Harry Potter, something is blocking the playback of Blu-ray's and it's like trying to find a needle in a hay stack.
The people who manufacture the format do there very best to put all sorts of copy protection protocols on the disc's. I found it gets to the point where the things won't even play. Finding what is interfering is a big challenge.
The other thing that would probably work too is running SlySoft's Any DVD HD, that removes all the copy protection stuff, and that's not free either, but it does work.
     http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvdhd.html
It's not HP really. Others like Sony, Acer, Toshiba etc are all in the same boat.
Check this thread out, it doesn't look good for lessien either.

His drive letters are all screwed up, but when I duplicated his situation, my player still worked. Windows doesn't even see the Blu-ray drive at all in his case.

Pending on an answer I am waiting for there may be a newer driver direct from AMD that may work, it's dated 2011, where as the one from HP is from 2009.
There is a good chance that this will solve your problem, but I want to be sure that it will work.

  • Mediasmart dvd 3.0 broken HDMI passthrough in windows 7; solution found

    Hello everyone,
I have a dv6-1253cl and was successfully bitstreaming 5.1 DD to my Onkyo TX-SR606 receiver from blu-rays in mediasmart dvd under vista home premium 64.  This did not work initially under vista.  This laptop has an ati mobility 4650 graphics card, but the default microsoft hd audio driver would not configure for surround sound or streaming dts or DD under "manage audio devices" in the control panel.  Installing the realtek ati hdmi driver fixed this problem.  I then followed hd1's instructions, setting mediasmart dvd's audio option to "hdmi passthrough"  before inserting the blu ray.  (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/HDMI-sound-issue-from-newer-Blu-Ray-s/m-p/1...)
Unfortunately, when upgrading to windows 7, this stopped working.  mediasmart dvd 3.0E would only send 2-channel pcm to the receiver, or it would simply freeze and crash.  Reinstalling the sound card drivers did not fix the problem.
I have determined that this is a problem with mediasmart dvd 3.0 for windows 7.   I uninstalled 3.0, and reinstalled mediasmart dvd 2.2 for vista 64, and everything worked again!
So the major lesson is, if you upgraded to windows 7, use mediasmart 2.2 for vista if you want surround sound.
I'd appreciate any feedback if anybody else has had this problem, and if this solution works for anybody else.

Everything on the laptop is configured correctly, it even shows that there are 7 channels of sound available on the Denon receiver or 5 if you like, it makes no difference. The only thing that has changed is the Media Smart software. I either have to revert back to the version that worked and not play Ice Age 3 or keep the old version and let SlySoft remove all the copy protection and region code; and then it will play. This is what I wrote on the CyberLink web forums :
After reading the hundreds of people having problems playing Blu-ray discs on their laptops, including myself, it was easier to cut my losses and give up. At present I am using Media Smart which is a cheap version of a CyberLink product and since the latest update I have no more surround sound in my home theatre. I only use my laptop to play region "B" blu-ray's. I rolled back to the previous version and it works fine. I also have Slysoft and that helps a lot in removing the region codes and all that frustrating protection crap !
So here's a revelation. Stop using your laptop's to play blu-ray movies. The cost of the Cyberlink software is a around 100.00 bucks. I just bought a cheap Sony player for that cost (BDPS360) and it plays everything. The cost alone for my time trouble shooting is already in the hundred's of dollars.
Did it ever occur to anybody that this is being done on purpose because the studios don't want people playing their precious blu-rays on laptop's because they are too easily copied on them. I have done it and as the cost of 50 gig discs fall it will make it more cost effective to do this.
It is also in Cyberlink's best interest not to find any solution to your problems when they can charge 30 dollars for useless phone support etc.
Why find a cure for cancer when the industry is making billions perpetuating the disease !
If you must watch a movie on your laptop just use a DVD. Most screens are only 15 inches big diagonally and a regular DVD will look just fine. The biggest is 18 inches and it still looks OK. And yes it pisses me off too that My blu-ray player in my laptop is so problematic, but I have had enough !! CyberLink, Hewlett Packard and the Hollywood studios can go to hell !!
This is harsh stuff, but after spending a little over 2700.00$ it should bloody well work and work properly !  It's incompetence, I am a very patient person, but things like this are intolerable.
Maybe one of the moderators will remove this. I will see what happens.

  • Software Update fails and shows errors in console (No Leopard 10.5.3)

I have a MacMini with Leopard installed with boxed DVD last november (upgrade from Tiger).
Every update (apps and system went fine since them).
I haven't got the java update 6 since my processor is a Core Duo and not a Core 2 Duo.
Since it's availability from Apple Servers, the Leopard 10.5.3 is not appearing.
Neither the direct downoad of Combo of Delta update are not OK to install on my system.
When i select any system volume (internal and an external usb "up-to-date") i have a warning message:
"You cannot install Mac OS X Update Combined on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
    Anyone can help?
    Thanks.

  • When I ran the bootcamp assistance for software update I get an error that it can't download from the server

Install Mac OS X lion fine without any issue
I'm trying to dual boot Lion and Wind 7 on different HD but when I ran the bootcamp assistance for software update I get an error that it can't download from the server.
I also try without downloading the software and do the installation but it fail. It seem that this bootcamp is giving problem so I revert back to SN leopard and it does the same. Why can't the bootcamp assistance update the software, is it something that I did wrong or my system is not supporting dual booting.
    Here is my spec
Apple Mac Pro "Quad Core" 2.66
    Identifiers: Mac Pro - MA356LL/A - MacPro1,1* - A1186

MacPro1,1 has EFI32 and does not support Windows 7 very well, can't boot 64-bit, can't use all your RAM.
There have always been trouble and issues, ways around those, but a big PITA too.
    Select CD-ROM Boot
    Select CD-ROM Boot Error Apple
Nothing to do with Lion actually. Other than downloading drivers from Apple servers has been mostly hit or miss, with miss being 90%.
I have rebuned the DVD (make a new ISO image using Imgburn etc) but now I just install Windows on PC then move the drive to the Mac. A lot easier.
Without 64-bit you can't use more than 1.9GB RAM. And you need Windows 7 Pro to use both processors.
