Update & Install Problems: Anyone Else?

For the past 3 hours I've been doing nothing but trying to update 2 of the apps on my iPhone 4 that had updates available.  I tried updating via my phone through the App Store multiple times but was unsuccessful, despite my WiFi connection being completely fine (each time the app icon would have a "Waiting" message underneath then nothing...I had to reboot my phone each time to get it to "reset" and go back to normal).  Then, I tried updating via iTunes on my PC and each time I tried, I kept getting a "Network Connection Timeout" message.
FINALLY, I was able tp update the apps in iTunes but I couldn't sync those updated apps to my iPhone, at which point I proceeded to smash my forehead against my desk repeatedly until I passed out.  (OK, I didn't really do that last part, but I was very tempted).
So, the cycle repeated.  Each time I tried updated through my phone again, I kept getting a "Waiting" message underneath the app icon until finally, FINALLY, the apps updated! YAY!
So, was there a problem with iTunes today?  Anyone else experience this problem too?  I've only had my iPhone 4 for about 3 months, having switched from an Android because I couldn't stand the slowness, lag, and all around pain in the booty Androids are.  Is what happened to me today a frequent occurence for iTunes?

Time out errors are normally due to the internet you are using. Your internet provided may have had some issues causing the time out. I have hardly ever heard of iTunes causing a time out error unless you are trying to download a huge amount of information at one time.

Did you manage to fix the issue?
I have exactly the same issue as described above : I installed the update 5.1.1 on my iphone 3GS and since then, I can not turn it on anymore. In Itunes, I get an error 37 when I am doing a restauration and it stops.
This error has nothing to do with firewall : I tried to restore the phone on several computers, including in an Apple reseller and it did not work anywhere.
I spent several hours on phone with the hotline from Apple which arrived to the conclusion that it is a hardware issue, but the phone was working perfectly fine until I installed this update!

  • Running FCPx 10.0.8, aborting, errors are rampant since most recent software update. Is anyone else experiencing more problems?

FCPX 10.0.8 is frequently crashing, refusing to share even in prores hq - it aborts.  This has all happened since after the most recent update.  Has anyone else experienced an abundance of problems since the update and what have any of the solutions been?

There are many people who have posted about persistent  export failures since the update. A search will uncover a number of threads just within the past month. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to these problems – and if there is common fix, I haven't heard about it.
However, the update hasn't been a problem for me – nor presumably has it been for the majority of users.

Hold c and reboot off the 10.6 disk, run the installer.
If the machine your upgrading is the 2006, I'd highly advise you stay on 10.6.8
It's a 5 year old machine, you're in the last life stages of that machine and 10.7 will push it right over the edge.
10.6 is a GOOD upgrade for that machine, faster than 10.7 or 10.5.
And 10.6 will run your 10.5 software, 10.7 will not.
Get iCloud with a new 10.8 machine coming out after this summer, seriously.
Your machine is too old to bother with Lion.
Or else you can learn yourself and use this link to get back to Snow, good luck finding your 10.5 programs.

Just for those who are interested, this is what cleared the "bookmark menu"  trbl I had.
    Open System Preferences > iCloud
Deselect the box next to Bookmarks, then reselect it.
Quit and relaunch Safari. Try a bookmark again.

My Iphone will not start. There was an error in updating. Is anyone else having this issue

After connecting to iTunes, I noticed that "Back up to iCloud" was selected (in the middle of the screen on the "Summary" tab, under "Backup"), and "Last backed up to iCloud" reflected the time that I attempted to back up from my phone. Even now, the phone still says "Last Backup: Never," so there is clearly a disconnect. Hopefully Apple will fix this soon.

  • Can't install silverlight - anyone else had this problem and knows how to fix it?

Trying to install Silverlight 5.0 on Firefox 11.0 (Mac OSX Lion). No matter how many times I try to install it (having uninstalled using MacKeeper), I still get the same message telling me I need to install it.
Has anyone else had this issue and knows how to solve it please?
    thanks
    GLC

I've had the same problem. I'm sure it was caused by a MacKeeper cleaning operation. Here's how I solved it:
Download and install EasyFind from DevonTechnologies.com:
    http://www.devontechnologies.com/products/freeware.html
You can also install it from the App Store.
Launch the app and make sure to enable the following settings on the left-hand side of EasyFind:
    Search for: Files & Folders
    Operator: Phrase
    Comparison: Ignore Case
    Include: Package Contents
    Include: Invisible Files & Folders
Then chose your Mac hard disk that contains your system on the upper right-hand side of EasyFind (directly below the search field.)
Enter "silverlight" in the search field and hit Enter. The files and folders will start to populate the window below the search field. When the search is complete, select all of the found items and click the Delete button in the toolbar.
NOTE: REMOVAL OF PROTECTED FILES: Some items cannot be deleted because they require your administrator password. Those items will remain in the list. Right/Ctrl click each of those files and chose Reveal in Finder from the submenu. A new Finder window will open displaying the file. Right/Ctrl click on the file and chose Move to Trash. You will then be asked for your admin password. After you provide it, the item will be moved to the trash.
To be on the safe side, I restarted my Mac, downloaded a fresh copy of Silverlight, quit Firefox, and performed the install. When I relaunched Firefox and navigated to Netflix, Silverlight played the movie properly.
(See attached JPG for more info.)
    I hope this helps,
    Matt

  • 10.4.11 combo update install problem

Has anyone else had trouble installing the combo update from 10.4 to 10.4.11?? Mine almost finishes and says it encounters an unknown error and cannot finish the install. Says it moves the update to trash and says try again from the finder...
    HELP!!

    Updating
Certain steps appear to minimize the risk of an update producing problems.
Number one is to make sure you have a bootable clone backup of your computer in case you do need to back out of it again. This is the only guaranteed way of not having to worry about the results of an update.
Some like to boot from their installer discs or an external backup and verify (and if necessary repair) their internal drives as well as drive permissions. This is done with Disk Utility. You can verify a drive while booted from the same drive but sometimes this produces spurious errors. Repairing a drive (if necessary) has to be done while booted from another disk.

You can also go to the step of booting into safe mode to do the install.

I like to download the update onto my computer and install it from there rather than let Software Update do it. I know a few people who had problems with doing the update via software updater found a manual install to work.
    Repair permissions again afterward.
It helps to only install one update at a time and to run the computer for a while to make sure it is behaving well.
The more cautious even like to unplug third party peripherals (see [comment by BDaqua|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9040746#9040746]).
Almost all of the above steps (except backup) have been questioned (e.g., [Permissons repair|http://www.macworld.com/article/52220-3/2006/08/repairpermissions.html] as to necessity. Probably many people have done successful updates without doing them. I say they can't hurt, they can very likely do good (especially if your computer isn't regularly maintained), so why not do them to be safe?

seconds after double clicking on the Updater the install process
stops with no error message. Has anyone else had the same issue?
If not is there a manual method to install the 7.0.1 Updater?

  • I can't answer or update status in Facebook since the last software update. Is anyone else having this issue?

I can't update my status or reply to someone else's post on FB since I downloaded the last software update to my MacPro. Is anyone else having this issue? I have cleared my cache, history and data. I have restarted and logged off and nothing seems to help.

I did exactly what you said to do.. Resetting my network settings didn't work but restarting my router worked like a charm, no more issue's and my ipad is up and running and working great without anymore problems. THANK YOU!

  • Worse 3g service with new update?? Anyone else??

I was getting great speeds before the 2.0.1 update on 3g. normally around 700kbps using this test site. http://i.dslr.net/tinyspeedtest.html. im in detroit suburbs where 3g is really great. i was so thankful not to be one of the people not getting good 3g service
now after the update, (imnot sure if they're related) im getting speeds much worse than edge. my wifi and edge are the same though. my bars on 3g are still always five bars. anyone else experiencing this? should i do a restore to the old 2.0? is that even possible?

I wouldn't normally consider doing this but I would like to put 2.0 back on the phone - according to Google I need to 'jailbreak' it first but I'm not sure if it will be possible to become legal again and 'de-jailbreak' after the 2.0 software restore. Is it allowed to ask such a question in here?

  • Certain I have an ISP iTunes download problem - anyone else experienced?

I live in Jakarta and I recently switched to a new ISP. I can download all podcasts onto my PC and selected ones from my MacBook Pro but many constantly get the stopped err = -3150. The PC can access all websites I type in but the Mac doesn't allow me to connect to the same ones. It's odd but I think between iTunes and Safari and the PC working just fine that I have an ISP problem with the Mac. Anyone else had this happen and what was the final resolution if any?
    Thanks,

From what I've read, this definitely has to do with your ISP. Give them a call and let them know what is happening.

  • ITunes 6 won't open - automatic update install problem???

    Hello,
I have tried to install iTunes for the first time using the latest version and when I try to open it nothing happens. I have XP and I believe the automatic update install shield is blocking the installation of the program?? I do not have norton anti-virus and I have turned off the automatic update install in the control panel.
    Thanks,

    hi Guido!
I have tried to install iTunes for the first time using the latest version and when I try to open it nothing happens.
replying to you here rather than off in your other post. (let's stay in this thread.)
off in that other post, you described seeing a little yellow shield in your task bar. is that a Norton live update notification, or a Windows update notification? (i've seen it in my task bar too, but i can't recall off-hand which one of those it's signifying.)
    love, b
