Update Installation messed up existing Adobe Acrobat application

I was using my Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro Extended when a message window popped-up for an update installation. Dumb me I clicked yes and went ahead with the installation. After it was all done I tried to continue work but my Adobe Acrobat now doesnt work. Is there anyway to undo the update download and go back to point just before installatio?

As a last resort you would reinstall. Before that, try a repair. If you can open Acrobat go to Help>Repair. If Acrobat will not open, then go to Start>Control Panel>Programs & Preferences and repair there. Then go to Help>Updates for the update process. I do not recommend ever responding to a popup, other than looking at it as a reminder you should check for updates, then check either through the help menu or by going to the updates download site http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. If you have a MAC, the instructions would be similar.
In the case of the repair and updates do not do the job, then you may have to reinstall. In that case, deactivate if possible, uninstall, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, remove any left over parts of the Acrobat folder (typically in Program Files>Adobe), reboot, reinstall and activate. Then do the updates from the HELP menu (or download them and install in order).

    I am very interested in using XMP to better describe my documents; I've also read that Adobe Acrobat 5.0 supports XMP. As such, how would I go about modifying the values of the Dublin Core properties using Acrobat 5.0?

    Dublin Core is a standard schema with set properties and associated values. There's a bunch of them including Graphics, Basic (xap), Media Management, and so on. They're described by a unique name(space) called a URI and not meant to be messed with, otherwise they would not be standards. In order to do what you want today you have to create your own schema namespace, properties associated with it, and values associated with the properties. In order to get them integrated into Acrobat, or any application, you have to build a plug-in that reads and writes the metadata to the pdf or eps output files.

  • Installing Existing Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on new computer - The "Upgrade Check"

    I recently purchased a new computer (Windows 8) to replace my old computer (Windows XP).  I had purchased and installed Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 on the old computer in September 2009.  At that time I had the serial number of the previous edition of Adobe Acrobat to load into the Upgrade Check screen when installing Acrobat 9.  I just deactivated the Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 from the Windows XP machine and downloaded it to the Windows 8 machine and the install went well (still had the serial numbers for the Acrobat 9), until after the reboot when the "Upgrade Check" screen popped up.  I don't have the slightest clue what the serial number for the previous version of Acrobat was, I don't even recall what version of Acrobat I had.  How can I continue to install my Acrobat Pro 9?  I have been using it successfully for three plus years!

    If you no longer have the AA7 information, you will have to contact Adobe to determine the software key you had before to allow the installation. Hopefully you had registered your previous product or at least the installation.

    I have tried downloading Acrobat Pro 3x and I keep getting an error message:
    Uninstallation Dialog cannot continue - one or more applications are using files that are marked for uninstall. Please close all applications before continuing.
    I closed all of my applications and restarted my laptop and I'm still receiving the same error message. please help!

    check your file sizes to see if you have an incomplete download and/or use a different browser to download.
    if all else fails, have someone else download or use a different connection and usb stick to transfer from a computer with a better connection, or use a download manager.

    Open Tools/Options/Advanced/general/Config. editor, copy mail.server.default.fetch_by_chunks into the search box, double-click the preference to make its value false, OK, restart TB, and see if you still have problems with pdf attachments.
    For messages that have already been received in IMAP accounts, you can force a re-download by selecting the Message Source (Ctrl-U), then try to open the attachment.

  • Updated to 8.1.6 adobe acrobat standard

    I did an update yesterday and now when I print to the color printer it does not print correctly.  I have some portrait pages and some legal pages in a document and it wants to print them all as legal.  I dont have that problem on my laser jet black and white printer - just our BIZHUB color printer.
    Is there some sort of default settings that got changed for that particular printer when I did the update.  How do I know what the settings should be?
    I have checked under properties and it shows portrait.

    i get an error when i try to update Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.06 to 11.0.07/11.0.08 or 11.0.09 with the msp files from the adobe download page.
    In the end of the installation procedure the installer is doing a roll-back and the installation returns an error code 1603
    - uninstall Adobe Acrobat and Reader , install Acrobat 11.0.0.0 and Update to 11.0.09 --> 1603
    - uninstall Adobe Acrobat and Reader , execute the adobe cleaner tool and then install Acrobat 11.0.0.0 and Update to 11.0.09 --> 1603
    - uninstall Reader und update Arobat --> 1603

    Running into the same issue over here. It seems like it has to do with applying a transform to the installation, so it could be related with a particular setting put in place using the Adobe Customization Wizard.
    It's really kind of hit or miss, because it appears to affect those with previous versions of Acrobat or Reader installed, but that isn't always the case.
    Had this happen to systems that haven't had any sort of Adobe product installed prior.
    It's always the same thing too. Error 1603 is spit out after it can't remove select files in C:\Windows\Installer
    After digging through the system, the files that it's looking to delete aren't even there to begin with.

  • Adobe Acrobat Installer

    I have no idea how this Adobe Acrobat Installer got installed. Went to update flash, get the message "Adobe Acrobat Installer, Only a single Instance of this Application Can Run". I do not have Acrobat or Reader, only Air. I cannot install Flash. Now what? And, no I cannot find this Adobe Installer.

  • Working w/adobe cs6 - it now won't update adobe acrobat. Adobe found that I am not registered in a sudoer file and said that I had to call Apple. They said I should submit it to this forum.

    I have installed Adobe cs6. After doing so, Adobe Acrobat will not update. I have been trying to solve this problem with Adobe now for 3 months. Today they say they discovered that I was not in a file named "sudoers file." They told me they could not solve that but that I had to call Apple for a solution. I called Apple and they told me that they could do nothing about it (I'm still not sure whether or not they even admitted that it is one of their files). They suggested coming to this forum for a solution.

    Their latest is that my file is not registered in sudoers, whatever that is
    There are two files named sudoer.vim on my drive (each in a different folder). They're text files. Both are very well hidden and the contents of either would mean little to anyone not versed in terms used in the text. What Adobe could possibly mean by "your name not being in the file" is anyone's guess. My actual name or user account name isn't in any of the files, either, and my apps work just fine.
    There is another text file named sudoers (no file extension) that appears to be a list of who has sudo privileges. But again, it's well hidden, requires an admin password just to open it, and means nothing without knowing what to modify, or how without ruining the file.
    Which kind of leads back to this:
    "Adobe Acrobat application was modified."
    Have you run Monolingual or other utility that removes foreign languages from the drive? If so, you can't let it touch certain apps (like anything from Adobe) or you will run into problems like this. Usually, Acrobat won't even launch if pieces of it have been removed, even if those pieces are completely unimportant.
    If nothing else, just reinstall Acrobat from the original disk or downloaded .dmg purchase.

  • Acrobat Update Installation Failure, Error 1310

    I can't complete installation of my latest Adober Acrobat Update (10.1.1). It starts installing, then rolls back and terminates, Error 1310, telling me that I don't have access to a certain directory. What's up with that?

  • Installation Media for Adobe Acrobat Reader and Flash without Extra Software

    Is there a Installation Media format for Adobe Acrobat Reader and Flash which does not have McAfee, Google Chrome or Google Toolbar associated with the installation?  This deployment is for a IT department.  We do not want Google Chrome, Toolbar, or McAfee installed on our workstation, and we want to prevent our users from installing them when performing the upgrades to newer versions.  We want installation media without the extra software for deployment.  Does Adobe supply these?
