After updating iOS 8.0, I only see a black screen on my iPad 4 asking for a 4 digits passcode, I've tried severeal times and now every time I try I get this message "Ipad dissable wait 60 min... I do not know what to do???

    Howdy mendjes25,
It sounds like you’ve recently updated your iPad and now it’s disabled because the passcode you’re entering isn’t being accepted. I can imagine that would be frustrating. Take a look at the article linked below, it describes the alert you’re seeing and provides the possible resolutions for that issue.

  • After SL Install - Added HP 5100 blank HP setup assistant screen

The install went fine. On reboot, the HP Setup assistant launches. The first page is a welcome. I click the next button and it instructs to select the HP device. Well, there are no devices listed.
How do I complete the setup and make the setup assistant go away on reboot.

Hmmm, the HP Setup Assistant is launching. Did you perhaps install the old HP software? Print driver support is already included In-OS. As for the easiest way to stop Setup Assistant from running, go into the System Preferences, open up accounts, and under your user select Login Items. Select the HP Setup Assistant and press the minus "-" button.
If its not there (which there is a good chance it won't be with the older LaserJet software, go to:
    /Library/Preferences/Hewlett-Packard Preferences/
    And delete the file com.hp.setupassistant.
Now don't re-install the old software and you should be good as gold.
    Just trying to help.

  • After updating my email wont get past the screen with all the mail options like icloud yahoo ect...

I updated my Iphone4s and went to open my mail I have on my iphone @me.com account. I hit the mail icon and the screen that says "Welcome to Mail" accross the top comes up, I select icloud because thats what account I use, it promts me to enter my appleID and password, I do....this is where the problems happnes..... i get a message that says "This iClous account has already been added to your iphone" I hit OK and it goes right back to the first "welcome to mail" screen and i cant figure out how to just open my email?! I don't want to add any email I just want to check my email @me.com!!

You won't be able to check your email without adding it, but if you're stuck at the welcome to mail screen, you should got to Settings>Mail Contacts Calendars and select your icloud account. Make sure that it's not asking you for a password or stuck on verifying.
What I would do is select delete account from there and sign back into icloud

  • Can't Find Airport Setup Assistant - Help!

    Hello All,
I have been given an airport express unit and wish to set it up to play itunes wirelessly. I have a wireless connection to the internet using a router and want to link airport to this existing network to be able to play music. However I cannot find the airport express setup assistant, the things I have tries are as follows:
    - When I plug in the unit, I get a flashing amber light
    - In utilities the only option is airport utility, setup assistant doesn't seem to exist on this mac
    - Airport utility is unable to discover wireless devices
    - When I put the setup cd in that came with the pack and install, it says 'You cannot install AirPort 4.0 on this volume. Your AirPort software is currently up to date.'
    - I have tried downloading new airport software using software update and it is totally up to date, but I still can't find the mythical 'airport setup assistant' I need
    - All other support articles require the 'airport setup assistant'
Any advice or hints would be much appreciated, it can't be that I am the only one that has had this problem!
    Thanks

    Welcome to Apple's discussion groups.
AirPort Utility is the successor to AirPort Setup Assistant, so you should use that.
    - Airport utility is unable to discover wireless devices
The AirPort Express is probably broadcasting a different network ID. You won't be able to see it wirelessly in AirPort Utility without switching to that network. Until you can complete the configuration process, I'd connect the AirPort Express to your computer with an Ethernet cable.
You should also consider doing a complete reset of the AirPort Express. Press in on the reset button (a small gray button near the connectors), then apply power while continuing to press on the button. Hold in the button until the status light flashes several times.

  • Is there any way to use icloud to transfer contacts onto a new iphone if you have already gone past the setup assistance guides?

I bought a new iphone today and wanted to transfer contacts over from my old iphone.
The person from the shop skipped the setup assistance screens, so now theres no options to transfer things from icloud
I was wondering if there is any way to do this?
    Thanks

    There is a way!
Simply do Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings (assuming this was a brand new iPhone).
That will start the whole setup process over.

  • HT1148 reinstall Lion OX setup assist/time machine.

I Need to do an erases and install of snow Leopard which I can do as indicated in Article HT3910. My question is 6 months ago I updated to Lion but only have the original Snow Leopard install disk, Will I need to update back to Lion before I can run setup assist and restore all my files from my Time machine back up. or will the time machine backup made with Lion run on Snow Leopard.

    hey there,
i will not be able to help you with your problems, but i have the same problem with my NAS harddrive since updating on lion (which i did yesterday). i hoped to find some help in the internet and i got the information that there is a gerneral problem at least with NAS harddrives and lion (i´m not a technician and therefore i can´t explain it properly, but you will find an explanation when you google the problem; it has something to do with the communication code between the harddrive and the mac which was ok for snow leopard but doesn´t work with lion - if i got that right) - so there´s no chance but wait until the company of your harddrive product or apple have solved the problem by some bugfix or update :-/ let´s see which one is faster...

  • Stuck in setup assistant, can't create account or access desktop

I am a new Mac user who received a used 2011 MacBook Air MC966LLA as a gift.
When I first booted it up, I received a login screen. Not having the credentials, I booted in Single User mode to bypass the login screen.
Now when I boot up (using the power button only), I get the Setup Assistant. What mode am I using now?
However, I cannot set up an account. Every time I try to set up an account and press continue, I am returned to the initial Setup Assistant screen.
I don't know if my problem is related to the Setup Assistant infinite loop bug, or if it is something else. I've tried all the weird keystroke workarounds I've been able to find in the various tech forums, but so far no luck. The Safe Mode workaround option doesn't work either, as no login screen ever appears. Just the Setup Assistant initial screen.
Any ideas what to try next? For a variety of reasons, I can't ask the giver for advice.

    Ick.
Can you start from the Recovery HD?
If so, use Disk Utility there to erase the internal HD (indented, under the main line, probably named "Macintosh HD."  See #2 in Using Disk Utility if you're not sure how to do that.  It only takes a few moments.
Quit Disk Utility and use the Reinstall Mac OS X option to download (4+ GB) and install a fresh copy of OSX.  When your Mac starts up after that, you'll be in Setup Assistant, just as if you'd bought it new, so you can select your language, create your user account, etc.

  • Set-up/Migration Assistant: To Transfer ALL OR Just User's Data?

    Hello all.
I am about to receive my new 27" iMac in a few days and I just have one question/advice to seek:
When I am setting up the new Mac, I will be using the Setup Assistant to transfer all my stuff from this current iMac, is it advisable to:
    1. Transfer everything - including Applications? OR
    2. Just my User's data, etc (My music, photos etc etc) and install all the applications (3rd party) fresh?
Bearing in mind that I intend to install the new Office 2011 and also Adobe CS5 Upgrade on my new iMac, and they are not on my current iMac (contains Office 2008 and CS3).
But this would also meant I have to re-install some of the utilities, some are paid shareware like SuperDuper, from fresh.
    Thanks and cheers

    Sweet!
When I am setting up the new Mac, I will be using the Setup Assistant to transfer all my stuff from this current iMac, is it advisable to:
Be sure to do it the *first time you boot* your new Mac.
    1. Transfer everything - including Applications?
You could do that if you first installed Office 2011 and also Adobe CS5 on your old Mac.
You could also migrate all Apps from old, then delete them with their uninstallers and install the new.
But if those are upgrades, they may need to see the old ones, in which case you definitely want to transfer the old.
But this would also meant I have to re-install some of the utilities, some are paid shareware like SuperDuper, from fresh.
If you have the license, there should be no problem. And if you don't have the license, it's free. Don't know what other third party stuff you've got...
If it was me, I'd upgrade the old Mac and then use Setup Assistant to migrate all.
Good luck with the new iMac, I crave one of those!

  • Problem transferring old iPhone 3GS to new phone 5S using computer.  The iMac which I've been using to back up 3GS for years does not seem to recognize the 5S.  No setup assist is coming on screen so I can't begin the transfer.  Any ideas for this?

Problem tranferring old iPhone 3GS (ios 6.1.6) to new iPhone 5S (ios 8.1.2) through iTunes on my iMac computer  (OSX 10.5.8) . I have backed up the 3GS this way since purchase of 3GS.  The computer does not seem to recognize the 5S is there -- no setup assist is appearing on screen. Any ideas welcome.

this may not be your problem my according to the tech specs on apple.com the 5s requires:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:

  • 10.5.1 Update - Locked into Setup Assistant loop

I updated to 10.5.1 using Software Update. Everything went smoothly and I restarted my computer. But when my 20 inch iMac restarted the Setup Assistant came up and had me reenter all the info. After that was done it starts over from the beginning. The Setup Assistant just keeps looping and I can't escape it.

I had this exact problem and here is what you do.
Restart and hold shift as it's turning on. Keep holding until the spinning gear starts. It should take you to a log in screen, DO NOT LOG IN, press restart (if restart isn't there as an option press 'back' and then you will see a restart option) and then the computer will start the update.
I was stuck in this loop for a long frustrating time. But this solution definitely works. Good luck.
Edit: I also re-entered my information about 100 times, it doesn't over write anything and all your files and settings will still be there.

  • Setup assistant in loop after leopard software update

Installed leopard as an upgrade to Tiger on my new Imac when it was launched. I had no problems and everything has been runningfine. Last night I got informed of software updates available, I remeber seeing that one of the updates fwas for the system. I said ok. After a while I got a dialog saying updates required restart of system, hold power key until system turned off. I did so. The system rebooted into the setup assistant. I filled in the details required in each of the steps until I then hit done on the last page. At this point it just goes back to the beginning of the setup assistant again.I've tried this several times, inlcuidng turning off and starting the system again. I've tried holding down the C key at time of boot with the leopard disk in the drive to bbot from dvd and I still get the same symptons.
Very bad experience. Anyone else seen this and got a workaround. Can;t get through to apple support.
    Cheers

I just ran into this nasty glitch on a mac mini running Leopard which I had just attempted to update using Software Update. The only package requiring a reboot was iTunes 7.6 which did FAIL to update along with one other package (I forget which). I told the system to reboot and gave authority to 'kick' others currently logged in. It complied and the screen went black, however there was no reboot sound....hmm...I held down the power button and still nothing. Then held it still longer and finally it rebooted...I logged in then immediately saw Setup Assistant. I was like "hmm...odd...this doesn't look good." After complying I clicked "Done" and then it logged me out (odd?), and then I logged in again only to find Setup Assistant greet me! So here I am..looking for answers on how to fix. Luckily I have SSH enabled and can login to the machine via SSH. Looking for a possible solution to run OS X Updater from command and possibly fix what's broken.
