Update iPad without syncing?

Hi,
I am in America for vacation and I want to update my iPad without loosing my music and some big PDFs that can't be transferred in my new laptop. When I click update I will loose these files? I transferred my apps, photos, movies, and some books and PDFs. How can I update the iPad without syncing? Can I update it and then click restore from backup to get my music and my PDFs??? Plz help... I am not good with iTunes and syncing and very often I delete my data on iOS device...

Ok! I'll be waiting... Thank you very much for the reply, i though a restore from backup includes music etc... And i was ready to click update... Thanxxxx! When i return back to Greece maybe iOS 5 will be available, so i will go right from 4.3.3 to 5.0... I need patience! Thanx again.

  • Does iCloud back up photos, and can I view iPhone pictures on my iPad without syncing camera rolls?

I know this question may have been asked but please bear with me:
I have a iPhone 4S ( 16 GB ) and a iPad Air ( 32 GB ). Most of my photos are taken on my iPhone and I can view these photos on my iPad via the Photo Stream (which I know will only display photos for 30 days). I wanted to delete some photos off my iPhone to make room, but how can I still view these photos on the iPad without syncing my iPhones's camera roll to the iPad. Shouldn't iCloud be keeping these photos (and I heard that photos, music and maybe documents don't take up iCloud space, just other non-iTunes stuff count towards iCloud storage space but I don't know if that's right).
I just wants to know how iCloud works because what is the point of downloading other iOS devices' camera rolls onto my iPad and then risk my iPad runningout. Of space. Wouldn't I just run into the same problem? I thought iCloud would backup photos so if they were to be deleted off one iOS device, it can still be accessed on another iOS device (something like a Photo Stream but I ninnies it only lasts 30 days).

Hey! I am moving from icloud backup to itunes backup and i have not checked photos, contacts(see 1st image below) to sync to itunes. And on my phone in settings under icloud photos, contacts, notes and other stuff are selected(see 2nd image below). Does this mean i am backing up apps(and app data), music, settings to itunes but photos are still backed up to icloud. If not what should i do to back up my photos?
Could you please help me with this i am a little confused. Thanks!

  • Move audio between GarageBand and iTunes on iPad WITHOUT syncing to a computer?

Is it possible to transfer audio on my iPad from GarageBand to iTunes WITHOUT syncing with a computer?  Specifically, I would like to edit some audio for an iMovie project.  I feel like I should be able to take an audio track from iTunes, chop it in GarageBand, send it back to iTunes, and then use it in iMovie without being dependent on a separate machine.  Am I dreaming too big here?

I guess I wasn't completely understanding what exactly you would like to do. The article HT4972 refers to updating your software, and you are right it does not explain how to back up the contents of your ipad and restore and there should be a link within the article for that. The following article we explain how to restore your ipad software and there's link to an article expalining how to back up. Make sure your version of itunes is completely up to date, and the computer for that matter. Connect your ipad to the computer, open the summary page and choose backup to this computer.
(go to #5 for restoring from a previous backup)

  • If I purchase something on AppleTV is it possible to access it through my iPad without syncing?

Hello I recently purchased an iPad 3 with retina display and I'm using Apple TV and I've just bought a movie on there was wondering if it's possible to access the movie through Apple TV without syncing my iPad to my MacBook Pro? I guess I'm wondering if iCloud has a hub where it shows everything that you've purchased like Apple TV but is accessible on iPad iPhone etc to stream everything with ought having to sync it to the device itself. Sorry If this is a rather basic question I am a new user to all of this thank you for your help I appreciate it!!

If you purchase iTunes content from any device, you should be able to download it to another device from the Purchased section of the itunes app/store. There are some restriction on Movies/TV content based on locale, but in the US it shouldn't be a problem.
On teh iPad, open the iTunes app. Tap Purchased (bottomof screen), then Movies (or TV Shows, etc.) on teh top menu. You can view all of your purchases, or just those not on the iPad, as well as sort by Most Recent or Name.

  • How Can I Get MP3s On My iPad Without Syncing

While away, without computer/iTunes access, how can I get my husband to send my audio files to my iPad? What alternatives are there to syncing? We've tried Google Drive and emailing...

Ask your husband to upload the songs to Box.net or Sygarsync; you'll be able to access the song using the same apps.

  • Deleting Photos on ipad without syncing to itunes

I have an ipad, I have pics that were synced from a computer which crash and I do not have any more - how do I delete those images from my ipad -

You cannot delete those photos without removing them using iTunes or unless you totally erase the iPad using Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings.

  • Trying to update ipad but syncs all the iphone apps over?

Hi there trying to update my ipad but when syncing it syncs over all iphone apps how can i disable this to only update the ipad apps?

With the iPad connected and selected on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, you can use the Apps tab on the right-hand side to select which apps to sync to the iPad - there isn't a setting on that tab to say only sync iPad apps, but there is a tickbox (under the list of apps) for whether or not to automatically sync all new apps.

  • Update iPad without iTunes connections

I started an update to iOS8.1 (i think) on my iPad while away from home.  It won't complete without plugging in to iTunes.  I can't do that until I return home next week.  How can I proceed and get my iPad working again?

You can't. There isn't anything that you can do now. If your iPad went into recovery mode with the iTunes logo and the USB dock connector cable on the screen, you have to restore the device before it will function again.

  • How do I use iphoto on ipad, without syncing?

I have an ipad 2 and a PC. I want ot be able to edit and categorize my photos on my ipad but I want to be able to just leave the pictures in shared folderon my PC. I would be doing this over my home wi-fi but just not sure what I need to do. I know how to sync with the ipad via sugar sync and dropbox, but it would be nice to access the pc directly since my photo collection is a lot larger than my storage for both dropbox and sugar sync.

It will run much faster on your computer's hard drive because flash drives are slow. You could instead put it on a portable hard drive in a USB enclosure.

  • How can I get my itunes music to my iPad without syncing it to a computer

    Where is your music?
Why can't you sync the iPad to your computer?

  • How can I sync a (one) song from my computer to my iPad without syncing the entire library even though i have my iPad set to manually manage music?

Whenever I try to move just one song from my iTunes library to my iPad, it will start syncing like 300 other songs randomly so I cancel everything. I have my iPad set to manually manage music but it still does that. And what's worse, I never get that one song I chose in the first place. The same thing with photos. I'll sync a photo and it starts syncing music as well. But at least I get the photo just fine.

Easy solution when on itunes simply go to the music tab and press on music library then browse what file which contains the music you want to be added same with photos

  • Is there a way to import photos to iPad without syncing to iTunes?

I have pictures on my MacBook Pro that my friend would like to have on her iPad. There are A LOT of pictures. I have read the article about syncing photos via iTunes. In that article, it says that "syncing photos with a different computer or user replaces the photos on the device." Deleting current photos on her iPad is not an option. Emailing the photos and then saving them on the Ipad would take too long.
Is there a way (other than emailing or syncing the iPad via iTunes) to get thoes pictures from my MacBook Pro to her iPad?
MacBook Pro (Mid 2010) with OS X Mavericks (10.9)
    iPad 2 with iOS 6.1.3

Yes there is. Use iCloud Photo Stream. You can share up to 1,000 photos in one album, up to 100 albums with up to 100 people per album.
You must first make sure you have iCloud Photo Sharing switched on in iPhoto.
    1. iPhoto Preferences > iCloud > Photo Sharing (check box ticked)
    2. Create an Album with the photos of your friend (up to 1,000 photos)
    3. Follow instuctions from this Apple Help link to "Create a shared photostream" http://help.apple.com/iphoto/mac/9.5/#phtf7fe6394
    4. Your friend will receive an invitation to accept your shared photostream and once accepted all the photos will appear on your friends iPad.

    Hello,
My iPad 2 has never been "paired" with any PC.  My one and only PC is corrupted and will not, after many many attempts, download iTunes.  When I turn on my iPad it insists that I connect to my iTunes.  How can I avoid this and just get the iPad to work like normal?  Any help is much appreciated

You cannot do anything with the iPad until you do as instructed by the iPad and connect to iTunes on a computer.
You probably need to restore the iPad and the only way to do that is via iTunes on a computer.
Take it to an Apple Store and ask for help at a Genius bar or take it to a friend's house that is running iTunes on their computer and try to restore it.
You will lose all of your data and settings now because you never backed the iPad up in the past.

  • Need to sync my ipad without deleting apps.

ok, so i've been put in chrage of updating my moms iPad. so i plugged it into her comp and ran iTunes, thinking it'd be easy. apparently not. it gave me the standard "this iPad can only be synced with one library" message, even though I'm signed into her account on her computer, which is authorized for her itunes account. the only thing I can think of, is maybe the iPad is synced to her old windows laptop, and now it doesnt want to sync with the mac one.
my dilemma is, I dont want to sync with the newer computer if it means that will delete the angry birds saves on the ipad, which my younger brother has spent probably weeks of his life building up. if i do that everyone will be livid. so, how do I fix? i'm about to update iTunes and see if its just a bug, but im wondering if that doesnt work, would I be able to reinstall iTunes on the old computer and set it up, so that the apps may update to that one, then see if there's a way to transfer an iTunes backup from one computer to the next?
*hates the iTunes sync cartel* if the above doesn't work, would there be any chance this could be fixed when iOS 5 comes out, assuming i refuse the 4.3.3 update now and wait? the iPad is on 4.2.1 at the moment, by the way.

In regards to iTunes content, an iPad can be synced with an iTunes on a single computer only and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer including syncing with an empty iTunes library, all iTunes content and photos transferred from another computer will be erased from the iPad first.
You can transfer her iTunes library from her old computer that was used to sync with her iPad to her new computer per the instructions included with this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
Or iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize her new computer with her iTunes account with iTunes if this has not already been done. With the iPad connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of her iPad. Make sure all 3rd party apps on the iPad are now in her iTunes library on her new computer - namely this game everyone would be so distraught over if the game status were lost.
After this, create a backup for her iPad without syncing on the new computer. Right-click or Control-Click with a Mac on the iPad under Devices in the iTunes source list. At the menu window that appears, select Back Up.
Before the first sync, under the Apps tab for the iPad sync preferences with iTunes, make sure Sync Apps is selected and all apps below are selected.
