Ok, tried message boards everywhere to try and figure this out before having to post a question. Have a 21.5" iMac running Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  After updates no wireless capability for ipad or laptop, imac connects fine but nothing else. No dashboard widgets work, Skype won't work. What goes?

Your post is pretty lengthy and I have to admit I didn't read it all. Please try restarting in Safe Mode, if that doesn't work please do both a SMC and PRAM reset. These may take 2-3 attempts.
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

  • Can't update apps - Incorrect program for iPad

Has anyone run across a problem with trying to update applications on the iPad 2 where it gives an error message "Unable to update. Incorrect program for iPad"?  This has just started happening but I've no idea why.  I tried downloading the latest software update but it is still giving me this error message.  I would appreciate any assistance or ideas someone may have.  Thanks.

I have the same, it is id related, and only for already installed / to be upgraded apps !
Ipad 1 and 2: first id, can only download new apps, not previously installed apps.
Ipad 1 and 2 : other id, can download and upgrade.
This annoys me to dead ! Apple, go and fix this !

  • HT4757 Can the digital camera RAW compatibility update 3.13 work for iPad?

Trying to transfer photos from my Nikon 3200 to iPad using the camera kit.  Can the digital camera RAW compatibility 3.13 update work for iPad?  Attempts to download it directly to iPad sends it to Evernote and then message comes up that synchronization failed.  Not a tech geek by any means so if you can help, please explain as simply as possible.  Thanks much.

45 views and no replies? Isn't there anyone that can answer if I need this update or not or is my question not clear? Does anyone else have a similar question relating to  the Digital Camera Raw compatibility update 3.11?

  • Update download speed requirements for ipad 2

Does anyone know what the update download speed requirements for the 4.3.3 update version is?  My connection keeps timing out and my internet company says everything is within expected range on their end.
    Thanks.

Temporarily disable your Anti-Virus and Firewall software.
    Download the update.
Re-enable the AV and Firewall software.

  • Is the 5.1 update a good idea for iPad 1?

Since I still have the original iPad, and there isn't much mention of how it functions with the new 5.1 update I would like to ask the experts and other users whether the update is useful or not. My 5.0.1 works just fine (apart from sudden app shutdowns occasionally) so not really sure I sould try and "fix" something that isn't broken, well, isn't THAT broken.
    Any thoughts on the matter?

I haven't noticed any slowdown since upgrading to iOS 5.1.
I think some of the slowdown issues may have to with things like what capacity iPad you have?
I have an iPad1(soon to be a New iPad owner) that is the 32 GB model and have not had any type of
performance hit. I make sure not many background applications are running. I only have notifications turned on for certain apps and not globally. My iPad is a WiFi only model. Unless I need it, I, also, turn off Location Services.
If anything, I have less app crashes, too! Especially either in my browser of choice or Safari.
Many apps are more stable now, but also many app updates are bloated up larger now to accomodate to New iPad's Retina Display which the old iPad's can't take advantage of.
IMHO, the update is very much worth doing.
Have had this iPad for two years and this will get handed down to my girlfriend once I receive and setup my new iPad.
The original still works great, but with all of the improvements and the fact that I really need the max storage capacity of the 64GB model for my creative and media watching/listening needs.
It is ironic that a device and technology that is still evolving that the very first iPad would be now considered obsolete only after two years.
At least the OS can still be updated and can run on the "original" iPad. That's gotta say something about how useful the original iPad still is.
I figure my girlfriend will get, at least, another two years use out of this before she'll have to take the plunge and get herself her own iPad.
My "older" iPad will be my girfriend's first introduction to Apple. She has never used any Apple product or computer in her past.
I am hoping she'll like the iPad, over time.
    Sorry. Got a little off-topic.

  • Non-USB External Mic for iPad

    Hey Everyone,
I have an applause meter app that I will be projecting on to a screen for an event from my iPad. From my understanding, I cannot a attach a USB external mic because the port will be used for the video projection. Is there an external mic that can run from the audio-in 3.5mm port and produce a good quality recording? Thanks.

    N_Peters-
I mentioned the headset because it has a microphone, and plugs into the iPad.  If you can get the correct 3.5mm plug, you should be able to wire an adapter between XLR and 3.5mm.  I understand the iPad's  3.5mm connector has additional circuits compared to the run-of-the-mill stereo earphone connector.
You might be able to jury-rig a bluetooth headset to replace its microphone with an XLR adapter, but that is not a neat way to go!
Another approach is to use the Griffin iMic with Apple's Camera Connection Kit USB adapter.  You may be able to connect your XLR microphone through the HDMI AV adapter's extra iPad connection.  I have not tried that, but others have reported the iMic will work. <Griffin iMic>

  • External Mic for iPad 3

I recently purchased an audio technica ATR 6550 and Startech.com MUYHSMFF 3.5mm 4-pin to 2x 3-pin 3.5mm headset splutter adapter M/F for my iPad 3.
I've tested the mic and adapter on my Macbook and they worked fine.  When I plug them into my iPad however, it doesn't seem to read them.  I've tried a couple of different apps including garageband but the mic just doesn't register.  Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on how I might get this to work?
    Thanks

I think you just answered the USB option question I've been researching.  We found the iRig mic is sketchy.  sounds good for spoken voice when they work.  We've been using them for a mass messaging campaign and they keep breaking (if they worked out of the box to start with).  We've yet to find anything better.  We need a mic with that street interview look that we can put a mic flag on.

  • Mic for iPad 4?

What is the best solution for connecting an external mic to an apple ipad 4, please?

"Best" depends on the use to which you need to put this. What are you going to need to record? Is this just voice notes with relatively low-quality mics, or are you using this in a more professional setting and if so what will you be recording? If you can give us information about your needs, I'm sure someone can offer suggestions.
    Regards.

  • Need to update Adobe Content Viewer for iPad?

The adobe content viewer app on my ipad is saying I need to update my app to a newer version to view my folios.  However, there is not a newer version of the adobe content viewer available in the app store, only the one released February 21, 2012, which I already have installed.

Yes, I downloaded the required updates for InDesign today, but the app was created yesterday before these updates were available.  What is the fix for this?  Is there going to be an updated Content Viewer released any time soon?

  • Any update on wifi disconnect for Ipad Air 2? Jan 11, 1015

Lots of documentation of many people with the same problem.  None of our other devices including iphone 6 phones do not have this problem.  I will be returning this Christmas gift within 2 days if there is not a fix.  This is too frustrating.

    Hello ahyankee,
Thanks for the question. After reviewing your post, it sounds like the iPad will disconnect from the WiFi. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections - Apple Support
Be sure you're in range of your Wi-Fi router (access point).
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi off and on. If your Wi-Fi setting is dimmed, follow these steps.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi router and cable or DSL modem are connected to power, turned on, and connected to the Internet. If not, refer to your network administrator or Internet service provider (ISP) for assistance.
    Restart your iOS device.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you're connected.
    Tap  and Forget this Network.
Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network.
Note: You may need to enter your Wi-Fi password again if your network requires one.
Turn your Wi-Fi router off and on2. If your ISP also provides cable or phone service, check with them before attempting this step to avoid interruption of service.
Update your device to the latest version of software.
Update your Wi-Fi router to the latest firmware2. For AirPort Base Stations, install updates using the AirPort Utility.
Wi-Fi disconnects or signal strength is less than expected
Move closer to the Wi-Fi router (access point).
Check for sources of potential interference.
Remove any case, stand, or other accessories from your iOS device and see if signal strength improves.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    Have a nice day,

  • Wireless or bluetooth mic for iPad

I would like to record a series of lectures using the iPad. There are plenty of apps to allow for this, but if the iPad is any length of space away from the lecturer, the fidelity will be awful and I want very good fidelity for the recordings.
I'd like to find a small, clip-on wireless or Bluetooth mic to use for the recording of these talks. Anyone know of something like that out there?
Thanks for any help you can give.

The company that make iMuff has just emailed me a reply.
    REPLY:
We haven't announced official support, but it does work. It's not a perfect match though.
    From a recent forum post:
I know a lot of you are interested to know if the iMuffs support the iPhone. The good news is that it does work, but there are a few limitations that we've noticed so far. It's too early to be 100% conclusive, but here's what my testing has shown so far.
    1) The iPhone does not have A2DP support built in, so you can't use the headphones without the iPod adapter.
    2) When you plug in the iMuffs iPod adapter, the iPhone asks if you want to put the iPhone into airplane mode where it turns off it's radios. If you hit "no", it'll go ahead and give power to the adapter and everything wills start to work. So far, this seems to work fine, but the radio range and reliability of the iMuffs might be worse because of interference.
    3) Unfortunately, the iPhone seems to behave a little differently than the other iPods and one thing we've noticed so far is that when the iPhone goes to sleep (after pausing the music for a minute or so) it kills power to the iPod adapter. What that means if that if you pause the music for a while, you have to wake the iPhone up manually before you can get music again. Depending on how you use it, that might not be that big of a deal.
So that's what I've noticed so far. We'll continue testing, of course, and I'd be curious to hear what others have experienced, so feel free to post your own insights.

  • How can I test a mic for iPad mini?

    Hi All:
I may face mic problem with my new iPad mini, it seems people very hard to hear my voice over internet when I talk to my friends.
       How can I test it?
    Thanks a lot,
    King

Try recording a short video of anything at all and talk while you are recording. Listen to the audio when you play the video and see what you think.
There are also free voice memo apps that you can download if you want to use one of those.
