Update of iP3G to IOS4 wiped out all contacts, calendar etc.
Is there any way to get those back?
I've had the same problem, which I posted at <http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2529384> Earlier, I tried to retrieve the lost iPhone Calendar data by doing a "restore from backup" in iTunes. First, iTunes restored the data, causing a retrieved Calendar alert to show up onscreen after the phone did a restart. But then, iTunes began syncing the phone again (something I didn't want &, as far as I knew, hadn't set iTunes to do!). Sure enough, when the new sync was complete, the restored iPhone Calendar data had been wiped again.
After this, I checked the backup list in iTunes Preferences: Devices & saw 2 backups listed. Mousing over them, showed they both had the same date & time info, but I guessed the one on the bottom of the list was probably the older version I wanted to restore. So I turned off everything I could in the iTunes iPhone Info page, checked to be sure that MobileMe syncing was off on my computer, then tried the "restore from backup" again--being careful to choose the 2nd backup on the drop down menu that appeared. After the restore, I waited for the phone to restart & was surprised to see iTunes announce that it was starting to sync the phone. To prevent this, I clicked the Eject button next to the phone in iTunes, then ripped the phone out of the USB cradle. This triggered a spinning beachball in iTunes, but the phone was fine, my lost Calendar data was restored, & iTunes eventually got over its sudden ejection trauma.
I'd still like to update iCal on my computer with the restored iPhone Calendar info. But, frankly, at this point I'm afraid to try anymore syncing. I've had so much trouble with my formerly indispensable iPhone since I updated to iOS 4 that I reluctantly switched to another brand of smart phone & now simply want to transfer data from my iPhone to the new device.

Please Help!! When I updated my Ipad2 it wiped out all of my calendar entries. Is there a way to retrieve them? I have looked in Icloud and itunes and am not finding the calendar there, as it comes on the ipad and is not an app.
Were you syncing calendar events over the air with your iCloud account or syncing calendar events direct with a supported calendar app on your computer via the iTunes sync process?
If your planner is your life, not a good idea to depend on one device for your calendar events. They should be available on your computer as well along with the data included with your computer's backup. -
I uploaded the 5.1.1 iphone update. It seems to have wiped my phone clean of apps, contacts, notes, etc. How do I get them back?

apps you can get it back by either syncing with itunes, or on your phone app store - update - purchased - all or not on this phone, select the app you want by clicking on the cloud next to it. -
Okay so me and my mom have both downloaded the new iPhone update and now she has both her contacts and mine along with my calendar info and more. We both think its due to iCloud seeming as it didn't happen before we set it up. It is a nightmare and we just want it FIXED!. We have tried turning them off individually such as the contacts and the calendar yet they still were there! next we tried pressing the option that deleted them all from iCloud yet it just deleted all of out contacts so we turned it back on.
What is going on??????
I just want her contacts and calendar information GONE i really dont want me texting my nan thinking its my mom cus its written as mom mobile for both mine and hers AAAAH.You will have to have two separate Apple IDs to keep each of your sets of data separate. I assume your Mom has her own computer and/or Apple ID so you can buy all that music without her knowing about it. Just go to "settings" and then "Mail, contcts, and calendars". Click on the icloud account and remove it from your device. Then create a new icloud account using your Apple user name and ID (assuming it is seperate from your Mom's Apple user name and ID. Your devise should begin syncing just your stuff to your device. This is all predicated (again) on you and your Mommy having separate contact lists, email accounts, calendars, etc. - and MOST IMPORTANTLY - (did I already say this?) separate user names and Apple IDs.

My computer shut itself down overnight. The only clue I have is Firefox announcing that it's now all updated. BUT my entire computer has been stripped. In addition to loss of tabs, bookmarks, history, there are no docs, no photos, no downloads, missing software, the entire tree of folders is *gone* including the docs I was working on for a.m. client meetings. Nothing in the trash folder.
Firefox has messed with its own settings before but today it seems to have viciously reset my computer to nearly naked.
I realize that you understand how serious this is. Surely it has happened to others. Please, please have a fast and effective solution. Thank you.Firefox can't Reset your computer's profile. what most likely happened is you are having a problem with your computer, and it got started up in a default profile (and Firefox probably didn't update last night, it may have given that message because Firefox's profile was gone too).
Do you get a message like "Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system" in the bottom right hand corner when you start your computer? If so, contact a reputable local computer repair company, they can assist with recovering your data. -
How can I get my phone to sync and put the songs back? I also made back up discs but it won't sync.
Thanks but I solved the problem...it was really simple. Out of 160GB I had only used 34GB, so I knew I had space. What happened was in the process of downloading songs I also downloaded a few episodes of United States of Tara, which was taking a long time to download so even though it said I had 1019 songs the 26 undownloaded were on iCloud, not on my computer. So I paused the downloading of my episodes so my songs could finish downloading. Now my iPod and computer are in sync.
I don't know how this works so I'll give the points anyway, for being the only one who attempted to solve my problem. -
OS 3 Upgrade wiped out all contacts
Hi there.. this is heart breaking! I lost all my contacts after upgrading to OS 3.0. Tried the restore thing by right-clicking on the iphone settings in itunes. didnt work... unfortunately i do not have a backed up copy of my contacts. I know, a big mistake! Is there no way of restoring my contacts? I'm a windows based user.

3G won't sync after update. Lost all contacts, calendars, etc.
Since I installed the stupid 4.0 update I can't sync. I get an error message that says "Sync Server and Mobile Device Helper has encountered a problem and has to close". Also "Itunes could not back up phone because session failed".
I am so angry and of course Apple wants me to pay for them to help me with a problem they caused.
I have already uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes. It didn't work. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know how to fix it?If you are trying to get your mail and calendar from an Exchange Server (typically corporate e-mail and calendar) or Google Apps / Google Sync (not sure if that is the right name, but it is the Google Service that is also using Exchange) then check out [this Knowledge Base article|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3398] for a work around. If you are not using Exchange or the Google service that uses Exchange you'll have to keep looking for someone that is experiencing your problem.

7.1.1 update wiped out email, contacts icon
The update of 7.1.1 wiped out all buttons at bottom of screen. It is just a gray bar. I have turned on and off several times. Please advise. Thanks

Firefox update wiped out all my preferances!
I'm getting rather fed up with Mozilla Firefox. First of all the UPDATE nag cannot be disabled despite the fact that I chose the setting "Never check for updates." Firefox ignores that preference and reverts to either automatic, or "Check and let me choose." THAT started the whole mess. Listen please FIREFOX developers: I DO NOT want you to control my updates. Too many times in the past, you have more or less forced an update on me only to result in my having to reset EVERY preference and add-on I had previously installed. When I complained about this inability of Firefox to remember my update preferences, I was informed that I absolutely had to update to 20.0.1 because 19.0.1 had "security holes". You know what, at this point I DON'T CARE, especially if I have to go through all this crap simply to have a decent browser. Nonetheless I bit the bullet and updated. Right out of the gate, the WELCOME page hijacked Google as my homepage and didn't go away. I reset everything back to Google and then the browser opened Google alright, but was immediately re-directed to the damned WELCOME page...every time I started the browser. I tried everything I could but nothing worked. The next step was to RESET Firefox. Well, it reset. Boy did it reset. I am now faced with reinstalling EVERYTHING including ALL my add-ons, extensions...EVERYTHING. I am really annoyed at the arrogance of Mozilla, assuming that THEY know what's best for my machine and my preferences. I really hope you fix this Mozilla. I'm sure I'm not the only one who is getting weary of having to re-do everything each time an update comes along...which, BTW is altogether too frequent.
This problem has persisted for me for several months. My recollection is that there once were actually one or two additional unique posts on this update wipe out effect. This is my first time using the new Firefox update stub. Maybe this has something to do with it? In any case, despite configuring Firefox to NOT update me automatically AND not in the background, the update occurred oddly. As contributor tdp2101 has said, the effects can be inconsistent. In my case, a manual update over the last several months has occasionally been successful, that is, without the wipe out, complete or partial. Somewhere in my current process I a) told Firefox to not update, b) was presented with a page that my version was out of date. I do not remember the exact sequence. There finally came a moment, however, when the stub for v22 seemed to not execute two times in a row. Specifically, clicking on the downloaded stub icon resulted in nothing happening on screen, twice. System did not freeze. Just nothing seemed to happen. I immediately, cold booted my machine, opened my extant Firefox to download the stub yet again but never got the chance. Firefox autoupdated, wiped out ALL preferences, presented the Google home screen. I reset all my preferences including Never Update, Never Check, and, this time, Require me to okay cookies. Then I sought whatever updated solutions Mozilla might have offered. Finding none, I wrote this post. In the past, I have implemented all the Profile changes, duplications, substitutions, and edit solutions that I guess have disappeared or aged out of this support archive. Yet the problem continues. I am Win7 x64. Thanks for any help.

After syncing and updating my iphone my iCalendar on my computer lost most of my information. Including wiping out an entire calendar group. When trying to readd the calendar group it won't let me add events to my calendar under that category. A message pops up that says: "You can't add events or to do items to a calendar group. Select an individual calendar in the calendar list, then create your events or to do items." Any help here would be greatly appreciated! I would like to either retrieve the old information or find a way to add the category back in to start over. Thanks in advance!
hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

My iphone 3GS has wiped out all my contacts and I need help to recover them. I tried a restore back up and a backup from itunes but I don't use itunes at all so I don't think it worked. I tried also wonderfone and some type of DFU mode and couldn't find the contacts. What can I do please help.
Go to settings do a reset when reset is done you will need to enter your Wireless key for your router. Then go to software updates and download new update 8.0.2 That help me. Bsydd uk
