Update of iPod after restore/reset

Any idea why, after a restore/reset of my 60 Video that I can only "re"update 100 songs at a time from iTunes? At 8,500 this is proving quite time consuming.

Restored and updated to Version 1.1 (latest current).
It is set to update all automatically but stops of its own accord around 100 songs through. It isn't exact but rather a round number.
Perhaps it "times out" after the minute or so it takes to update that number of songs from iTunes to my iPod?

  • [?] Main Menu not showing after "Restore", resetting not helping

    Hi,
I recently received my 30GB iPod Video 5G (got it for myself for Christmas). I began charging it. Meanwhile, I uninstalled my old iTunes, and installed the iPod / iTunes / Quicktime software on the CD that came with the iPod. All fine.
I checked the iPod after four-five hours and it had finished charging. I restarted my computer, plugged it in, and iTunes wouldn't detect it. After some frolick, I went to the iPod Updater and clicked Restore. Bad idea!
Since then on, I haven't been able to access the main menu in any way. I've tried reinstalling the software a few times, and nothing helps. I've tried resetting the iPod, but I keep getting that little sign with the exclamation point. My iPod is fully charged.
I'd try the "5 Rs", but I can't reset my iPod, and I restoring it doesn't help, and I've reinstalled all I can.
I've a question - does restoring actually erase the little main menu? If so, where can I reinstall it? If not, what should I do?
    - by the way, throughout this little crisis, I got iTunes to start up at one point.
Don't think it's my USB port.
To recap, the problem is that I'm stuck, and I can't reach the main menu. I don't always see "Disk Mode", although I can get to it by holding the select button and the play/pause button at the same time.

look here for info on the exclamation point.

Simply restoreing your ipod to factory settings resets your ipod to the way you recieved it when you unpacked it. It does not erase the main menu it simply erases all the music/photos/videos from your ipod if there was any.
sound like when you say that your ipod is stuck its frozen did you folow this

  • Syncing iPod After Restoring iPod to Original Settings

I am having a problem syncing my iPod with iTunes after restoring my iPod to it's original settings. I have a 20GB iPod with a click wheel that I recently restored to its original settings because the iPod was locking up. To complete the restore, I had to first force my iPod into disk mode, which allowed me to restore the iPod. After successfully restoring my iPod, I connected my iPod to my computer to sync it with iTunes and download my music library back to my iPod. At first, 3 to 4 songs/podcasts began to download, but then I received the following message:
"Windows-Delayed Write Failed. Windows was unable to save all the data for the file G:\iPod_Control\iTunes. The data has been lost. This error may be caused by a failure of your computer hardware or network connection. Please try to save this file elsewhere."
My OS is Microsoft XP. I went to the Micosoft webpage, but didn't find any helpful information. If anyone has any suggestions on how to solve this problem, your input would be apprecicated.

  • Can't drag music from iTunes to iPod after restore and sync

I did a restore on my 80 Gb iPod classic because the 'catalog' became disorganized. The restore (from latest iTunes under Win7) and the sync/loading of songs seemed normal. The iPod works completely normally EXCEPT when connected to iTunes. Then, I can no longer drag albums to the iPod and the iPod song display is in grayed text instead of black.
My only theory is that I may have responded to a dialog box during sync which showed my very old and no longer used apple ID. iTunes uses my current ID.
If that IS the case, how do I fix it? Or, what other kinds of things could be wrong?

Probably. I ran in that mode since the thing was new, only changing after restore because sync is the default and when I uncheck sync music there is this ominous dialog box saying that 'not sync' will cause all of the content to be removed (or words to that effect).
I'll mess around a little. The worst thing that could happen is losing this tound and going back to restore!
    Thanks

  • Itunes not recognizing my ipod after restoring it

My ipod decided to go crazy on me, so I followed the 5 r's. After restoring the ipod it is no longer being recognized. I have restarted my computer, downloaded the latest software, used different usb ports but to no avail.
There is no icon in devices that pops up. When i run a diagnostic is states that an ipod is connected.
    Any helps?

    Hi Jim,
Thank you for your reply to my posting about iTunes not recognizing my iPod Touch after upgrading to Leopard.
iPods & Finder. Some other postings incorrectly lead me to believe that the iPod would show up in the "Finder". Thanks for setting me straight on this.
iTunes Not Recognizing iPod Touch. Prior to your posting, I had already read the article you referenced (to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service per article "http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1747").
Prior to your posting, I had also read other articles in various "Apple Discussions" (forums) that suggested this recognition problem could be resolved by uninstalling/re-installing iTunes 8.0.2. Some implied that you could just re-install iTunes 8.0.2 right over the currently installed one without bothering to uninstall it.
Based on those postings, I "gambled" last night and simply downloaded and re-installed iTunes 8.0.2 (without uninstalling it first). I noticed during the installation that the Apple Mobile Device agent you referenced was also re-installed. Well, my gamble paid off! After the installation (and a reboot?), iTunes onces again RECOGNIZED my iPod Touch.

  • How to get music back on ipod after restoring

After restoring my iPod, all of my music and videos were deleted but there still pn my iTunes account, how do I get them back on my iPod?

If your media is in the iTunes library on your computer, just sync your iPod with your computer using iTunes. Everything will be restored.
Otherwise, you can redownload most things from the iTunes Store without being charged again:

  • ITunes freezes when syncing music onto iPod after restoring

I have an iPod Touch 4th generation. This thing has become my life, but it has given me ungodly amount of problems since the day I got it. It is updated and always remains that way. Well, due to the amount of problems I had I decided to start fresh and restore my iPod. It seemed to work which was great. I slowly built things back onto it: first all my apps, then photos and onto music. When it came to my music, iTunes would seem to freeze on one song and stop syncing. This has gotten very frustrating for me.
Am I doing anything wrong? I mean, I restored it completely thinking that it would be fine and act as a new iPod again. Obviously I was very wrong.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

I had the windows 8.1 update shown on my app store but due to some problems i factory reset the laptop. when i opened it after the restore i was unable to find the update on my store. Rather it shows 96 apps to be updated

    Hi,
If you want to install Windows 8.1 Update 1, there are two requirements:
    •Windows 8.1 is a prerequisite (vs Windows 8 RTM)
    •KB2919442 is a pre-requisite update - released in March 2014 – you'll need this before 2919355 will be recognized

  • Agent updates not available after restoring DPM database

    Hi,
I am using DPM 2012 R2 which I have recently successfully updated to version 4.2.1297.0 (A hotfix installed to resolve an issue with Rollup 5).
I updated 3 agents successfully and planned to do the remaining 8 at a later date.  However after updating the first 3 I was trying to resolve a reporting issue which I did successfully and I carried out a DPM database restore in the process followed
    by a DPMsync -sync command.
I am now planning to update the remaining 8 agents but under the management tab the agent status is now showing as OK instead of Update Available as it did previously before the restore.  I have checked the protected clients and they do not have the 4.2.1297.0
version installed (I checked this in case the installation had occurred).  I then decided I would try and re-install the hotfix on the DPM server (kb3040326) but it seems I can't first uninstall the update on it's own so will have to uninstall DPM altogether.
I have tried to reinstall the hotfix again on the DPM server without removing it first and I get a message advising:
"A required hotfix KB3021791 is missing.  Install it from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3021791"
This update refers to Update Rollup 5 for DPM 2012 R2 which, again, is already installed on the DPM server and appears under Add/Remove programs.
It seems that since the restore the DPM server is aware that the Rollup and subsequent hotfixes are installed but the DPM application is not (although when I click the About DPM button, the version is 4.2.1297.0).  I am unable to update the agents through
the DPM GUI with the latest hotfix as it is not available to them and I am reluctant to install the latest version directly onto the clients without sorting this problem out first.
If anyone has any advice that would be great,
    Thanks.

This isn't a bug in Leopard or it's recent updates so it's not something you should expect to see fixed in a subsequent release. However, you're not the only one who has found there to be problems after an update and assumed the update was responsible when it's either coincidental, or simply highlighted a problem that existed on the system previously.
First thing to try when any device or ports appear to vanish on the system is to perform an SMC reset:
-From the Apple menu, choose Shut Down (or if the computer is not responding, hold the power button until it turns off).
-Unplug all cables from the computer, including the power cord and any display cables.
    -Wait at least 15 seconds.
-Plug the power cord back in, making sure the power button is not being pressed at the time.
-Then reconnect your keyboard and mouse to the computer.
-Press the power button on the back to start up your computer.
Since the SMC (System Management Controller) looks after all the internal devices, when it goes wrong it can cause very bizarre apparent failures! Resetting usually resolves these. Give that a try and post back to let us know.

  • IOS 5.0 update for iPod touch: restore from backup?

I downloaded the iOS 5.0 for iPod touch and everything got backed up beforehand. Apparently my backups are encrypted and a password is needed to use a backup and restore everything back. I don't know what that password is! Can anyone help?

If you don't know the password, you'll have to set it up "as new device" and start all over again without using the backup. If you did not encrypt your backup and this somehow happened after the update, try to put in one of the password you use on your device, for example the screen lock password or your iTunes account code.
There have been cases in the forum, where users were able to unlock the backup by trying this method, after their backup got encrypted during the update process for an unknown reason.

  • Syncing iPod after restoring computer

I recently had to restore my computer and when I did that, I lost all my music, except what was on my iPod. I hooked it up to my computer only to have it not show up in My Computer, but it will show up in iTunes, except when I go to try and look at it in iTunes, it disconnects. I have no idea what happened or what to do.

    Ha!
I figured it out! It happened to me too and I was really bumming and then I found this!
    http://www.metaphoriclabs.com/articles/5-ways-to-copy-music-off-your-ipod-window s-mac-os-x/
Then it didn't really work so I was bummed even more but what didn't work on mine was because the folders had to be changed from Hidden to Read-Only in the property section of the file. Follow the link's instructions until you find your Ipod_Control -> Music _*Also follow the lastish step of changing the iTunes preferences ITS VERY IMPORTANT!*_.(After following the steps) You can get there by highlighting all files you found on the iPod in the IPod_Control section, going to the very bottom of the right-click menu and selecting Properties. Then from there look for a section called Attributes, uncheck Hidden and check Read-Only.
It works fantastically for me now!
    Hope this helped!
