Update OS X 10.8.3 - Some Apps wont launch.

Just as the title explains, I updated to osx 10.8.3.
Now when I've opened, Skype/Numbers/Pages/Steam/Origin/Drobo Dashboard.
Itunes/mail/safari/Photoshop all open just fine.
Is anyone else experiencing this also?

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Have you tried syncing with iTunes again to restore them - assuming that the apps were synced with your iTunes library before you updated the iOS like you should have done.
Connect your iPad to your computer, launch iTunes, select your iPad from the sidebar on the left side of the iTunes window, click on the Apps Atb at the top of the iTunes window on the right side. Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is selected and make sure that all of the apps in the list are selected to sync as well. Click on Aync or Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes to restore the apps to the iPad.
If you were not in the habit of syncing with iTunes or can't find your apps again for whatever reason, download them again in the purchased tab of iTunes on the iPad or they can be downloaded again in iTunes on your computer and then synced to the iPad. You can download apps again at not charge as long as you use the same Apple ID and iTunes account that you used to buy them with originally.

I used an AppleID yrs ago to buy some apps on my Iphone well now I am trying to sync my Iphone to my itunes account on my pc and it wont allow me to cos it says my pc isnt authorized for it. It wants me to put in my password for those apps and I not only forgot the password for it but also no longer have the email that I used or know the answers to the questions. Now it wont let me back up my phone or sync it or even update it without losing all those apps. Which is like $200 worth of apps and songs I will lose if I cant fix this problem. Can anyone help me with this problem asap? I have been tying to fix this for like 5 days now and read everything on every page available about this but found no answer to my problem. It wont allow me to authorize my pc with my current ID for those apps it wants the old password and I dont have it and cant get into it at all. What do I do?

If you forgot the answers to your security questions, try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you're not sure you remember the answers. If you're confident that you can't remember them, try one of the following:
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID password, sign in to My Apple ID and select the “Password and Security” tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password, contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
Note: If you forgot your password and answer your security questions incorrectly too many times in a row, you will be unable to try to answer your security questions for a period of time. During that time, you will not be able to reset your password and will not have access to your account.

Some apps wont open

Some apps like VLC, Skype etc. won't open. They show up in the dock and starts to bounce, but all they do is keep on bouncing for 1-2 minutes. I started up my Mac in SafeMode and then the applications worked just fine! So i think its some thirdparty application that messes with my apps. Any ideas?

the only thing I might try is cleaning/rebuilding the user and system caches. Way in the dark ages of OS X (like 10.0 or 10.1) before I knew better I defragged. I fixed the problems by cleaning the caches. I tend to use the paid application TinkerTool System. But there are some free applications that can do it, like Onyx.

I forgot what they call it in Lion, it's a way of reinstalling the OS while leaving the old OS, applications, User directories, etc. on the HD. So you don't have to reinstall everything again.
Agree in principle with Grant about external HDs and backup/cloning software. I prefer Firewire because it's generally faster than USB. For clones I use SuperDuper! but Carbon Copy Cloner should be good to. I haven't used CCC in years.

Adobe CC Apps wont launch on my Admin account but will on a guest account on my Macbook Pro

Hi,
My company owns an Adobe CC lisence. I've downloaded Prem Pro, AE, Photoshop and Bridge on to my brand new retine Macbook Pro running Mavericks, and none of the apps will launch properly on my main administrator account.
Prem Pro just crashes at the splash screen, Photoshop loads to a new project screen then crashes, AE says its can't load because of an error, each them a different reason.
However, I can get them to work when switching user accounts to a guest account. Both the Macbook and Adobe CC subscriptions are new, so I can't understand why it's working on one account and not another?
It's useless to me that it doesn't work on my admin account, as the laptop is both my work and personal computer, so everything is on the main admin account, a guest account is literally just for a guest to login.
Any help?

App wont launch when i click on it?

I have downloaded the creative cloud and then installed the 30 day free trial of premier pro, the app says it has installed, however when i click on the icon for premier pro or on the name of the app it wont launch, i have tried uninstalling it and installing it again but have got the same results.

Premiere pro CC application is not compatible with 32 bit computer , hence you are unable to launch it.
Apps like After Effects. Premiere pro requires 64 bit support processor.

Ok, so I turned my ipod touch off for 10 minutes, restarted itunes, and checked to add the apps that aren't being removed from the ipod or updating, one at a time then syncing each time I add one. It's working! When I tried to do it en mass, all the apps would attempt to download but failed, asked me to retry or wait. So, I'm slowly going through the 20+ app reinstalls. I've tried to fix this 5 times over the past 2 months, so whatever works is good.
FYI, it's a 2nd gen and is running iOS 5.

You can allow apps to save data in icloud. Not sure of the procedure, but you should search that.

Bootup hang and then some apps not launching

Bought magic mouse at weekend - installed OK and worked. Don't know if magic mouse relevant to problem- saw one thread which suggested reducing speed of double click to cure failure to launch app - tried this after the hang below and no difference - so the hang may be unrelated to new mouse.
Computer (late 2007) hung when booting up few days later. Sound and apple screen normal. Then hung on blue screen. Rebooted - same. Researched and started in safe mode - booted up to normal finder screen. Restarted - normal boot up but various apps eg mail, address book, quicktime, ical won't launch from either the dock or apps folder. Preview won't open file. In the dock icons move up and down jerkily then disappear. If launched from apps folder large pixellated app icon momentarily appears then vanishes. Some third party apps eg notebook launch normally from apps folder.
Have run disc utility from SL - no hard drive errors reported. Fixed permissions etc. No difference. Saw a note which said the SUID ? file had been changed but could not be repaired - don't know what that means. Have reset PRAM - no difference. Downloaded Onyx and SL combo update but neither will launch. Tried re-installing SL but this hung and would not instal with error message 10822 the operation cannot be completed. Computer generally running slowly and jerkily.
Help please! The extra RAM is Crucial and was installed about 9 months ago.

That indicates corruption or conflicts with 3rd-party things in the normal boot account. Create a new admin user account and see if that fixes the problem. As for QuickSilver and the scripts, that might indicate that they're in Login Items and usually mount on startup. I recommend deleting them from the login items. Also, check the various /Library/LaunchAgents/, /Library/LaunchDaemons/, and /Library/StartupItems/ for rogue processes. If you don't have the issues in this new account, then you can proceed in two ways. One is to log into your new account, make a list of the preference files (plists) located in /username/Library/Preferences/, including any in the ByHost subfolder, log back into the original account, move everything not on that list into a newly created folder on the Desktop, log out and back in, and see if the problem goes away. If so, you can copy the ones in the Desktop folder (one at time) back into /Preferences/, restart, and see if the problem returns. If so, you've identified the corrupt/conflicting one. Continue with all of them until isolating the bad ones. That'll save you the trouble of resetting preferences.
The second way is much more detailed and I'll not burden you with the steps unless the above doesn't fix the issue.

I just did the IOS 8 update to my iPad 3 now my apps wont work

I just did the IOS 8.2 update to my iPad 3. It made me put it back to factory settings. Then I did my iCloud backup (and it said that my Apple ID and password wouldn't work) but some how my apps go restored by now all my apps are dark and wont open. And when I try to delete them it says "Deleting ___will also delete all of its data" HELP!!!

I just rang and they helped me with this issue.
Make sure you know your wifi password. The following fix didn't require a restore or for me to lose any other data.
Go to Settings, General, Reset, Reset all settings. Reset, Reset, (It might ask for the devices password).
Once the reset is done, open the apple store and search for the apps that aren't working and download them directly from the app store.
I really hope that it helps everyone. I'd be keen to know if it helps.

ORIGIN app wont launch

Hey guys!
You're my last hope: I talked to the guys from EA and they are simply a bunch of incompetent ********, promising me email support. First step was live support (chat) which didn't lead to anything useful. Chat on day 2 also left me with no results. So EA support closed the case and said Origin developers will contact me directly "within the next 4-5 days". I've been waiting for almost three weeks, but now gave up hoping.
My Origin app keeps crashing as soon as I launch it. I want to play Sim City 5, but the App just won't start.
I looked into the "Package Contents" and the crash reporter says the following:
This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "cocoa".
Can you help me fix this issue?
I updated to OS X 10.10, because I hoped it would fix the problem - but it didn't.

Cocoa is the framework that underlies all programing in OS X, Qt is a cross platform GUI framework. They work in conjunction to provide the interface a program uses.
So that is what cocoa is but there is no 'getting it onto your computer' it is part of the system, the big question is what OS were you running before you upgraded and when was the last time the program ran? If the program was running and then stopped something must have changed on your system, and finding that change may help to fix the problem.
If the program never ran then you either have a bad copy of the program or were not given all the bits you need to run it or else your system does not meet the minimum requirements set down by the developers.
