Update password request won't stop

Every time I log into any web site I use regularly and which requires a password, Firefox pops up the "would you like to update the saved password" box, even though the password is already saved. Is there any way I can stop this, without disabling password saving altogether?
Many thanks.
David

1.Clean any saved password you have for the affected website.
2.Install the "Saved Password Editor 2.7.1" addon.
3.Have Firefox save the wrong password once.
3.Go into the addon's personalized password manager.
4.Edit the password and save the popup as an image for future reference.
5.Clean any saved password you have for the affected website (again).
6.Go to the website, log in and this time, refuse to save the password. This will put the website on the exception list.
7.Go into the addon's personalized password manager.
8.Create a new saved password and enter the informations as stated in the printscreen from previous step, but input the right password.

  • Help...MacBook Restarts and Restarts After update ...won't stop

Hello, I just ran the Leopard 10.5.1 software update on my MacBook and it restarted and now it just keeps restarting and makes the sound and it won't stop. Does anyone know what's going on?

That just happened to me. Help. I just did a regular software update, which included a combined operating system update, a QuickTime update and a security update. I restarted after the download as instructed, and now the computer keeps restarting. The little dial keeps spinning and the Apple restart bell goes off, but it never finishes. Then after a few minutes, it restarts itself again.
I've got a big college project in that computer and it's due Monday. Please someone help.

  • Major Security Fail since OSX Update - Password Request from Screensaver & Sleep Mode

Like me, I'm sure you walk away from your Mac with the knowledge that your computer is safe from prying eyes once the screensaver or sleep mode activates.
    Not anymore..!
Since the recent 10.10.3 OSX update to fix a hidden backdoor API security issue, Apple have unknowingly left users wide open with an error in System Preferences' Security & Privacy.
It is recommended that users shut down their machine and not rely on screensaver and sleep mode security.
The password request does NOT work...
    Well done, Apple.

My Macs all ask for passwords still, however none of them will automatically start the screensaver anymore.  I have to manually start the screensaver using hot corners.
I would have believed it to be an issue with a 3rd party application or a specific configuration, except all FOUR of my Macs started doing this the moment I loaded 10.10.3.
The other oddity is, if I sit and watch my macs with the screensaver running, periodically the password prompt / login window appears like someone moved the mouse or pressed a key (except no one did).
I have tried resetting to different screensavers, resetting the timeout for the screensaver to something different....and of course, turning it off and on again.
Sure hope Apple fixes this soon.

  • After Update, stacked widget won't stop auto play

    Hello-
On the home page of a website I am creating, I have used a composition widget to scroll through featured youtube videos. It is designed to auto play, sliding from video to video when you land on the page (stacked option selected), and then stop the auto play when one of the thumbnails is selected.
Now that I have updated/upgraded, the autoplay will not stop!  Once you select a thumbnail, the auto play just starts again. This is an issue because I need the user to be able to watch the youtube video in the "slide" they have selected.
Any way around this? or can this be resolved??
    Thanks,
    -Cord

We broke it in the 2.0 update. 2.1 should go live next week. It includes a fix for this. Until then, I'm sorry but I'm not aware of a workaround.

  • Updating iPod Software--Won't Stop 'Updating'

I've recently upgraded to iTunes 7.0. After upgrade, iTunes won't recognize my iPod at all. So I restarted the computer, and simultaneously restarted the iPod. At this point, it recognized the iPod, but said that new software was available for my iPod and that I needed to update. I did, and now a pop up is on my computer reading "Updating 'Ben'". (Ben is the name of my iPod). I've done this 3 times now with the same result.
How can I ensure that iTunes recognizes my iPod each and every time?
IBM T60   Windows XP Pro   30GB iPod Video

Incidently, I too have tried switching from the USB 2.0 hubs in the front to the rear USB's and nothing is happening. I have followed the iPod for Windows software instructions to:
"connect iPod to see if it needs formatting"
when I connect the iPod shuffle the software notices that the "iPod is connected, please wait while the system recognizes the device" and I have even let the program run "waiting for iPod" for HOURS............ and nothing is happening!!

"If you've forgotten the Apple ID password how did you log in to make the last post?"
Exactly! The password I used to log on here and write my post I figured was the same Apple ID password I would use to reset my computer login password. But my computer isn't recognizing it as the correct password so it wont let me update my login password. I have 2 user accounts on my computer.
As far as the link you provided, I already looked to that for help earlier. It states:
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Users & Groups, click the lock to unlock it, then provide an administrator name and password. Select a user, then click Reset Password.
I did these steps, but I don't remember my admin password. The question is: How do I reset my admin password so I can reset my log in password.
Is my admin password the same password I use to log onto this website to post questions? If so, like I said previously, I already reset that password and my computer isnt recognizing it.

  • The NYT website won't stop loading whenever it does an auto-update. While this loading continues, other websites are unresponsive until I force the loading to terminate. This started happening with FF 4.0.1.

When I do a manual refresh on certain sites like NY Times or CNN, or when sites like NYT periodically push an update through, the updates won't stop loading. It's as though the update never completes. The rotating circle icon on the affected tab just continues indefinitely. While this is happening, other websites that I try to open or update are either very slow or unresponsive.
My fix has been to force the update to terminate by using the red X button next to the website name. Then other websites respond normally but often the one that I have manually stopped becomes unresponsive.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • ICloud password request comes on screen and won't cancel or allow log in. other issues before this included flashing screen, safari help line invitation and redirected searches. have done safe reboots with mixed success.

had a new drive installed on my MacBook Pro and since then some problems have come up. at first i'd get redirects on my searches that would often lead to a popup stating Safari had a security issue and I should call a certain number.  I guessed that to be Bull and tried to correct the problem myself. Numerous safe boots would clear it for a use or two then back to the redirects again. Now the iCloud password request comes on after startup. it offers two options, cancel or log in. Neither goes anywhere. Is my next option only take in for a service call?

You might have to enter the password a few times before the prompts stop. If you don't actually use iCloud, sign out of it in the iCloud preference pane.

My Mac book air opens to m the password but won't go any further,  it stop right there!  what should i do?  I am sure i have the right password

Here's an old fix for the problem. Don't know it applies now:
Clearing Caches to Fix Login Problem
You will need to type some Unix commands. If you are not comfortable with this, I don't know of anything other than a re-install. But if you are careful, you should be OK. I recommend you print this out in a largish mono-spaced font so you don't miss any spaces (or add extra ones). Note that case is important.
Be careful. Some of these commands are dangerous, since you are going to be root.
Start up in Single-user Mode. When this has finished you will see a prompt ending in '#', although there may be other messages. Enter the following commands after the prompt:
    /sbin/fsck -fy
Press RETURN. Wait a few seconds for 8-10 lines of output. If the last line says repairs were carried out, repeat this command until you get a message 'The volume <yourdiskname> appears to be OK'. Then continue with:
    /sbin/mount -uw /
    cd /Library/Preferences
    rm com.apple.loginwindow.plist
    rm com.apple.windowserver.plist
    cd /Library/Caches
    rm -r *
    cd /System/Library
    cd /System/Library/Caches
    rm -r *
    reboot
    Press RETURN after each command.
This should now take you to a proper login screen after the normal boot sequence. You should then Repair Permissions by using Disk Utility (in your /Applications/Utilities folder).
If it isn't applicable in your version of OS X, then I suggest:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following
procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select ReinstallLion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from
the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
                    three times faster than wireless.

  • For 4 days now firefox updates are automatically downloading ad won't stop.

The download for firefox updates keeps running and won't stop.

If updating isn't working then do a clean reinstall.
    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • I don't like receiving updates availability requests everyday HOW CAN I STOP IT?

HOW TO STOP CONTINUOUS UPDATES AVAILABILITY REQUESTS?

There is a way to go back 6.1.3 if you do it fast. It's been done by some people on these boards already despite people telling you there's no way to do it but I don't know exactly where the posts were at. Apple is still signing for 6.1.3 as of now but it can stop fast so you have to act quick. It's an ISWP thing you have to install. Try searching the comments on the right hand side to see if you can find it. Try Googling it up and make sure you back up all data before doing it. I don't know if it voids your warranty or not. Apple doesn't support it. Also keep in mind that if you stay on iOS7 you will have to install iTunes 11.2 in order for it to sync.
