I have a iPhone 4S purchased recently.I also get this problem that my sim card num can not be shown on the iPhone and I even can not edit this. When I connecting my iphone to iTunes , summary tag of iTunes also could not show the correct phone num.However, I used the same sim card on other brand handphone, there was no any problem with showing up the number. Is any one who can explain to me what the problem with my iphone 4s is?

Read this and pay attention to the very last part of the article. Basically, you have to turn off Messages and FaceTime on the phone and then start over again and then the iPhone number should be available on the iPad.

I am trying to set up iCloud keychain and it will only keep saying it will send a code to an old UK mobile number that I do not have. I have checked in my Apple ID and my current phone number is listed as the only number with my account, how do I get keychain to acknowledge my current US cell and forget an old UK number?

It sounds like you need to update the phone number associated with your iCloud Keychain. You should be able to update that with the steps outlined in the following article:
Get help using iCloud Keychain
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, tap Settings > iCloud > Keychain > Advanced. (In iOS 7, tap Settings > iCloud > Account > Keychain.) Make sure the phone number under Verification Number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
On your Mac, choose Apple menu > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Options next to Keychain. (In OS X Mavericks or earlier, click iCloud, then click Account Details.) Make sure the phone number under Verification number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
If you can't access a device that has iCloud Keychain enabled, contact Apple Support and verify your identity to get help setting up iCloud Keychain.

Updating Phone Number for FaceTime and iMessage

My husband and I both have iPhones, iPads, and I just got a new MacBook Pro. We also share an apple ID. But for some reason I can't seem to get Facetime or iMessage to use my phone number... only my husbands. How do I make the contact number MY number? I already changed it on my Apple ID, but when I open FaceTime, it still only gives me the option to add my husband's number.

You can add an email address only with FaceTime and iMessage with an iPad and with any Mac or other iOS device besides the iPhone.
iMessage can be exchanged with any iOS compatible device and with a Mac running OS X 10.7 with the Messages Beta app.

How to update phone number in iTunes after porting?

On your phone, Settings>Phone>My Number...tap the blue chevron next to the number shown, edit the number, then sync your phone.

I have iPhone 4s with ios8 and macbook pro retina with Yosemite.
Lately I wanted to start using keychain with iCloud, but the number where keychain sends the verification code its still my old number, and even changing my number in settings iCloud sends the message to my old number.

My sent text messages are received, but are from my email address rather than my phone number since updating to iOS 7.

Fellow iPhone users have complained that my text messages are not longer associated with my phone number. Instead, they see my texts messages as from my email address.
The problem started after I updated to iOS 7. How can I resolve this? I would rather not continue to confuse friends/family when they receive a text message from an email address they do not recognize when it was in fact sent from my phone.

I think it's odd that the default setting is now your email rather than your phone, however... Very confusing for me and other iPhone users I know.

TS2755 Updated to ios 7, contacts that I have texted are all messed up, just get a phone number or part of a phone number listed when I text, no name. Not even sure my texts have gone through, no response from recipient.

I have updated to ios 7 as has my daughter. Now when I send her a text all that shows up is her phone number or part of the number, not her name. I'm not even sure she is getting the texts because she hasn't responded at all. She is usually very prompt. Is this a glitch with the new ios?

Actually you are not texting if she has an iOS device. Is the balloon the typing is in blue? Check your Settings>Messages and see if it is activated. You might want to call your daughter and ask her the same thing. Check her contact in your contacts app and see if the number is correct and everything is still there.
Then go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. This will not affect data. After that, if iMessage is activated, then try sending her a message.

Phone number not listed in Messages accounts post OS Mavericks updated

I updated to OS X Mavericks, and now my phone number is no longer listed in the Messages accounts.
So when I send messages from my phone, it creates a new thread using my email and those messages do not show up on my phone.
Likewise, messages that are from my phone are no longer updating from my computer.
Any suggestions on how to reconcile this?
Messaging back and forth from my phone and my comp were working simlessly prior to me updating to OS X Mavericks.
Is this a known issue? and is there a solution because it's annoying.

You can have any Apple ID and "register" it for use with Messages for the iMessages side.
Same for FaceTime
In fact the Apple IDs for iMessages and FaceTime and iCloud can be three different IDs

Very true, howevere if you use the same apple id for all 3 of them then it should work as it did for me. Its worth a try.

IGNORE!!! After updating to OS X 10.8.3, my iMessage on my MacBook Pro and my iPad 3 no longer recognizes my phone number or receives messages therefrom. I have signed out of my account, signed back in and synced. No avail.

I have synced my phone to my MacBook Pro. I have signed in and out of my account on all devices. The iMessage properties do not even list my phone number any longer. I can send and receive based on my e-mail, but it doesn't even give me the option to add my phone number. Anyone else having this problem after updating to OS X 10.8.3?

Thanks to all who responded. You are all absolutely correct. However, this Ipad was a gift to my wife who was dying of cancer in the hospital and wanted some entertainment. So I started it out with her Apple ID. After she passed away I moved from Sacramento to Austin and eventually proceeded to get the Apple ID changed from my wife's to mine. Meanwhile when she was in the hospital I opened an Itunes account in my name to buy movies for her. That was the first mistake.
Then during the move to Austin I lost track of the IPAD and later found it and tried to use support but could not remember the proper ID. Later the folks at the Apple store helped me create a new and novel Apple ID that was unfortunately unlike any other.
The botom line is that I am stuck with three Apple IDs and three passwords. I am told by Apple there is nothing they can do about this as IDs cannot be changed or destroyed. I can quit using them or start a new account but when I try to do that the system keeps remembering too many things from the past and resists.
Even if I sold this Ipad and bought a new one, the system memory is still there.
I think the real problem is that destop and laptop computers are totally owned by an individual and that individual can control logins and passwords to his liking. IPADs and similar Apple products are different in that the corporation has built in their own intrusion detection schemes because of the relation to Itunes.
One thing I thought about is to open a new Itunes account pretendding to be a new customer with my regular Apple ID. Perhaps I could do the same with Apple Support.

Phone Number Unknown after ios5 Update?!

I am also having facetime and imessage problems. I can only use facetime if using email. However, when I went into 'settings', then 'phone', my phone number is listed as 'unknown'. Before the ios5 update, my actual phone number was listed. I am unable to change this, and have already tried the system restore with no luck. Help?

I had already attempted to resolve the issue using those tips; however since it's a generic error message it could be for anything, and no, nothing i tried worked.

Updated to iOS 7.1 and my phone number won't work.

After updating to iOS 7.1 my phone won't allow me to send or receive iMessages from my phone number only my Apple ID email. Same for FaceTime.

Prompt to Update Account with Mobile Phone Number WON'T STOP APPEARING

When signing in to Verizon a box keeps coming up to enter mobile phone number. I have been checking off "No Number" and it says account settings updated but the box keeps appearing. I have deleted cookies and history as instructed by cust. svc but that did not fix the problem. Using Firefox.
