Update Power View reports properties using custom code
Is there any way to update power view reports uploaded in SharePoint 2013 shared data source link using custom code?

Someone out here must have an answer???? I know that SharePoint 2013 saves the view created in Power View therefore the metadata must be accessible somehow? Can someone explain
how to find that metadata in the SQL tables maybe? I would be surprised to find out I am the only one who needs this?

Hi All,
I got a client requirement to create reports using SharePoint List as data source. The report should show reflection depends on values changed (I mean animation).
I have heard about the power view/power pivot which does this kind of animations in reports.
Can someone please guide me on creating reports which shows animations
In power view/power pivot using SharePoint List as data source in SharePoint 2010.
Thanks in advance.
MercuryManHi MercuryMan,
Yes, Power View, a feature of SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services Add-in for Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 or SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Edition, is an interactive data exploration, visualization, and presentation experience.
It provides multiple views featuring tiles, slicers, a chart filter, and a number of visualizations, including cards, small multiples, and a bubble chart. So, we can use Power View to do intuitive ad-hoc reporting for business users such as data analysts, business
decision makers, and information workers.
Currently, Power View report only supports two types of data models: PowerPivot Worksheet, and data models based on Analysis Services Tabular Model or Multidimensional Cube.
In your scenario, you can create PowerPivot worksheets using SharePoint List as data source, deploy the PowerPivot worksheet to a SharePoint Library or PowerPivot Gallery, and then generate Power View reports based on the PowerPivot worksheets on the SharePoint
site.
To use SharePoint List as data source in Excel PowerPivot, you can refer to the following resource:

Poomani SankaranHi Aditya,
Thanks for your reply.
I am using Enterprise edition of SharePoint 2013 only. SQL Server 2012 SP1.
I have configured Reporing Services also successfully. I got "Reporting" folder in "15" hive location "C:\Program Files\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Server Extensions\15\WebServices"
SSRS Service application also i have created success in CA Manage Service Application.
I have done "Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint" also which is "rsSharePoint.msi".
What should i do apart from this? Can you tell me. Its frustrating like anything.
I have added the "PowerPivot" excel in "PowerPivot Gallery" and clicked the icon "Create Power View Report"
Thanks in Advance.

Using custom code in SSRS PDF rendering
Hi,
I have a written some custom code ( a simple function to maintain a counter ) in SSRS Report properties.
Everything works fine when I render the report in Report Viewer, but the custom code is not recognized when I render the report to PDF.
What is wrong with my code?
There is no error reported. The custom code is just getting skipped when I render to PDF.
My custom code is as follows..
Public Shared Dim iCounter AS Integer = 1
Public Function IncrementCounter(SomeValue As Boolean) As Boolean
iCounter = iCounter + 1
Return SomeValue
End Function
Public Function GetCounter() As Integer
Return iCounter
End Function
and my call to the custom code is..
=code.GetCounter()Hi ha_emp,
From your description, it seems that custom code work well when you preview the report. While it would be skipped when the report is exported to PDF. After testing the custom code in my environment,I find that the custom code will run again when exporting
the report, so when we run the report on Report Server and export it to PDF, the custom code will be run twice, the value will be counted twice.
Based on my research, I find that we can delete the “Shared” in the first row of the custom code to fix this issue. Then the custom code will works well on Report Server.
If there are any misunderstanding, please elaborate the issue for further investigation.
Thanks,
Katherine Xiong

Power View Reports Dynamic filter
Greetings Everyone !
I have a requirement to create a trend chart to show trend for last six months. So on trend chart, it should reflect previous 6 months (i.e. Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec) and value against each month.
Problem:
I am using Power view in SharePoint (for multidimensional model) to create this report from SSAS (SQL 2012 SP1) and it doesn't support any custom MDX query to filter data.
Please help if you have any solution for this.

Blog : http://youdhbir.blogspot.in/Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you wanted to add alert and subscription for the power view report in sharepoint 2013.
You need to Additional Configuration to provision for subscriptions and alerts when you install Reporting Services SharePoint Mode for SharePoint 2013.
The Reporting Services subscription and data alert features may require the configuration of SQL Server Agent permissions. For more information, see

PerformancePoint Services is a SharePoint Server 2013 service application. It enables users to create business intelligence (BI) dashboards that provide insight into an organization's performance. You can create custom reports, filters, tabular data sources,

Where can I find metadata for Power View reports created in sharepoint 2013.
I am looking for what I would assume is the sql server tables that would hold the MDX (DAX) Queries for the power view reports. Example my customers may create say 30 reports and I need to know quickly if an attribute I am changing is in those reports.
How can I find out what report(s) are using that attribute/measure? Not sure that it matters but using sharepoint 2013 on premise and connecting to Analysis Services (molap).
Ken CraigP.S. if this is still not making sense create a power view report in SharePoint from a SSAS cube. Save that power view report in SharePoint. The power view report should
have a couple of measures and 1 or 2 dimension. Open the report just to confirm it is saved correctly. Now go to SSAS and rename 1 of the measures or dimensions that you used, Save and rebuild your olap . If it’s a calculated measure
you just need to save olap. Now open your power view report and notice that that measure/dimension you changed is no longer in the report.
IN one hand it is great that reports do not error and break; however, on the other hand the users might not know what measure/dimension changed and then be lost/mad because the report no longer
works like they want. In my opinion it would have been better if the power view broke with an error message that it cannot load because measure x does not exist than to just load fine.
In any case I need a method to know when a dimension/measure is modified what reports are using it. Another example is this could even be a case where the dimension values are getting
modified and we need to potentially make a update to any power view/pivot using this dimension as a filter?

Error while subscription on SSRS report that uses custom assembly
I am new to SSRS. i have created a report that uses custom assembly that runs an oracle procedure and bring back result to report. this works fine on sharepoint mode interactive report. while i subscribe the same report, i am getting below error

i am breaking my head to find the root cause and fix for this.
i tried adding below permission on server machine.config file,
<SecurityClass Name="OraclePermission" Description="System.Data.OracleClient.OraclePermission, System.Data.OracleClient, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089"/>

<IPermission class="OraclePermission" version="1" Unrestricted="true" Level="High" Flags="FullTrust"/>
</PermissionSet>
it doesnot work and i am getting the same error on subscription.
can anyone help me to solve this issue. this is very urgent. thanksCan you see data for Custom object @ BEx level??
YES, then just try to re-create the same variable and Save the BW query.
Now do View - refresh Strusture @ Universe. And you can see Filter for the same, just Parse it, just whether it is OK or not.
OK -- then Export the Universe and create WebI reports, this will come as Prompt.
Hope it will helps you.
Thank You!!

Get Pagination in power view report
Hi all
We are trying to create power view reports in Sharepoint 2013 using SSAS cubes as our datasource.
But most of these reports return a huge amount of data. Is there any way I can provide pagination (Like in SSRS reports) ?
Thanks in AdvanceHi,
Yes,you can display the Power View Report in the Page Viewer Web Part and then you can find that the pagination controls at the bottom left & bottom right are active.

Kenny_IHi Kenny_I,
Based on the error message, the issue may be caused by the incorrect configuration of Claims to Windows Token Service (C2WTS). The C2WTS is required because the communication between the web front-end (WFE) and the Reporting Services shared service will
always be Claims authentication.
The domain account used by the Claims to Windows Token Service needs to be granted the following rights through the Local Security Policy:
Act as part of the operating system
Impersonate a client after authentication
Log on as a service
We can find these settings under Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment. And we should add the service account to the local Administrators Groups ahead.

Users cannot save a Power View report to thier One Drive Site
I have users that have only access to a sub site where public BI reports are kept. They want to open a public report, modify it and then save it on their personal sharepoint site. The problem is when I open a power view report then
edit it then do a save as it does not have the "Sites" option in the list to click on so they can then click on the Social site and save it to their site. Instead it only has the Subsite. Example power users can see this
Sites
http://companyportal
BusinessIntelligenceCenter (site)
SalesBI (site)
Reports (folder)
Public folder (folder)
The users in question only see Sales BI and down. With power users we save reports to our personal sharepoint by clicking on sites and then selecting as example
http://companysocial/personal/ken_craig site. then drilling down to where to save it. I the save as dialog box it does not allow typing in it and does not allow you to select sites.
How to get Sites in the list so they can save reports and other docs to their personal sharepoint site.
Ken CraigWendy,
I am sure it is permissions but that is my questions how do I give the correct permissions so they can do this. Again I do not want these users to be able to save anything on the subsite. I want them to be able to save things on their own personal
site (onedrive).
I have added a screen shot 1 of the Save AS window I receive and others who are power users. The "Sites" is the top menu item I have in this window. When I click on sites (power users) I can see things like
http://eagleviewsocial which is how I would get to my personal site (one drive). Screen shot 2.
The power users have "Visitors" permissions on the Business INtelligence Center site. They then have Members permissions on the subsite like Client Relations BI or Sales BI depending on the group they are in.
My goal is to give power user the ability to make reports on their BI sub Site (Sales BI as example) and then Read ability on the top level site Business Intelligence Center. The second group of people and majority will have Visitor or read only
permissions on their group sub site only (Sales BI as example). They will not be able to see the top level site Business INtelligence Center.
IN all cases I want them to be able to save reports (their own customer versions) to their own sites (One drive). This way we do not clutter production sites with individual reports.

BW reporting authorisation using customer exit
Hi,
We are planning to implement BW reporting authorisations using customer exit, so that authorisations can be filled at the run time, this is to avoid maintaining huge number of authorisations.
If any one has implemented this before, Please send me some documentation for the same. We have BW 3.50 environmnet.
Regd,Hi Anil,
What kind of authorization do you need for your BPS layout? Please explain this requirement further and I will try to help.
Your second question is quite good, where do I find the values to fill the user exit too do authorization correctly for each user, right?
I think this depends heavily on your source system, but a good approach (if possible) is to compare the master data available in the BW system to the logged on user in the system. If not, you will have to maintain data, i.e. in an ODS (like you suggest) in order to have something to work with in the CMOD exit.
For instance, consider this simple scenario (we can discuss it further if you give more details on your scenario and requirements):
User ABC belongs to plant 10. User DEF belongs to plant 20. You have an ODS with mapping between usernames and plants.
<pseudo code>
In CMOD:
data: lv_user(8) type c.
data: lv_plant(10) type i.
lv_user = sy-uname. "this will give you user's login id
select single plant into lv_plant from <your ODS>
where ods_userid eq lv_user.
L_S_RANGE-LOW = lv_plant.
L_S_RANGE-SIGN = 'I'.
L_S_RANGE-OPT = 'EQ'.
APPEND L_S_RANGE TO E_T_RANGE.
User ABC will see plant 10 and user DEF will see plant 20.
Do you have any master data (i.e. 0username) available to map between username and an user number (such as business partner)?
Hope this helps,

Error trying to create a Power View report against a Multi Dimensional SSAS cube
Hi all,
We have installed the Power View For Multidimensional Models CTP, released last November 27 on our Analysis Server instances. I am now trying to create a Power View report in SharePoint that is connected to a Multi-Dimensional cube.
I have followed the instructions diligently:
1. Install the CTP
2. Created a data connection of type "Microsoft BI Semantic Model for Power View" (see attachment #1)
3. Tested that the connection was valid (all is good here!)
I then select the "Create Power View Report" option from the data connection that I created above.
The Power View GUI appears, and then throws an error:
Error text:
