Update Problem in CUBE from ODS.

Hi Experts,
I have problem in Updating data from ODS to CUBE and ODS to INFO-OBJECT.
In brief, ODS has the Up-to date data ( Means till today - 28/07/10 ) . But the cube has Data till 22/07/2010. If I am trying to activate the ODS , Its is showing NO REQUEST TO ACTIVATE. And the DATAMART status is also not available . But the thing is , I checked in ODS till 22/07/2010 also DATAMART status is not available. And Its a Delta .
Please help me out, How can I update the data In CUBE and to an Info object.

It's showing , there is no data in INFO CUBE after 22.07.2010 and    in ODS the same Date Request is Missing. So my DELTA go Inactivated. After Updating the REQ on 22.07.2010 to CUBE , Unfortunately DELETED without maiking that RED.    My mistake was that.
Please guide me ... What should I do ? Should I delete the Data in both CUBE and ODS. And Reload .

After upgrade to BI NW4.0S issue in loading cube from ODS

Hi,
I have an SAP delivered ODS(0CRM_OPPT_H) which I was loading for some time. The cube 0CRM_C04 was loaded from the ODS a couple of times. I have now deleted all the data from the cube and want to load the data from the cube to ODS, In between our BW was upgrade frpm 3.5 to BI NW0S..
I have done all prerequisite , replicated the 80 datsource , deleted and re activated the update rule and transfer rule again.. and then tried to load the Cube from ODS.. however everytime I am getting the following error
DataSource 80CRM_OPPI does not have the same status as the source system in the Business Information Warehouse.
The time stamp in the source system is 12/23/2005 10:09:36.
The time stamp in the BW system is 11/09/2005 13:02:29.
Is it due to the upgrade?? I have done everything so that this dosen't happen, still could not resolve..

Are you sure you've replicated the DataSource 80CRM_OPPI? Try replicating it individually again. If that doesn't help, have you tried reactivating the ODS Object itself?

Problem when loading from ODS to the CUBE

Hi Experts,
I am facing an unusual problem when loading data from ODS to the cube.
I have a first level ODS where the delta postings are updated. I have checked the active table of the ODS and the data is accurate.
I have deleted the entire data from the Cube and trying to do a full load from ODS to the CUBE.
I am sure when I run a full load the data goes from Active table of the ODS.
After the full load the the keyfigure values are 0. I have tried doing the testing by loading couple of sales documents and still the keyfigure values are 0.
I wonder when I load the full. The data should be picked exactly the way it is in active table of the ODS.
I also dont have any fancy routines in the update rules.
Please help me in this regard.

Check the procedure did u do that exactly or not. just follow the the laymen steps here:... and let me know ur issue
o     First prepare a flat file in Microsoft excel sheet for master data and transaction data and save it in .CSV format and close it.
o     First select info objects option and create info area then create info object catalog then char, & key figure. Then create id in Char, Name as attribute activate it then in key figures create no and activate it.
o     In info sources create application component then create info source with direct update for master data and flexible update for transaction data. The flat files would be created for master data create info package and execute it.
o     For transaction data go to info provider then select the file right click on it then select option create ODS object. Then a new screen opens give the name of the ODS and create other screen opens then drag character to key fields.
o     Activate it then update rules it will give error to it then go to communication structure and give 0Record mode then activate it then go to update rules it will activate it.
o     Then go to info source then create info package then external data then processing update, Data targets then the scheduling then click start then the monitor.
o     Then other screen opens there we can see if we doesnt able to see the records then come back to the info provider right click on it then other screen opens then select the option activate data in ODS then a screen opens.
o     so select the option QM where it would be in a yellow co lour then by double click then another screen opens then select green color option then click continue it and it comes to the previous screen then select the option and click save it would be underneath of it just click it up and close it.
o     Then come back to the main screen to the info source to the info package go to the package and right click on it then a screen opens then click schedule without distributing any of the tab directly click the monitor tab. Then refresh it until the records come to the green.
o     Once it is green the click the data target and see the file executed.
o     Now go to the info provider then a right click on the file name then create info cube. Then a new screen opens and gives the name and activates it. The drag the key figures to the other side, time characteristics to the other side, and chacetristics to the other side.
o     Then create the dimension table then assign it and activate it .Then go to file name right click on it then select the option create update rules select ODS option and give the file name and activate it .
o     Then come back to the main screen and refresh it. Whenever you see 8 file names you will know that it is undergoing the data mart concept.
o     In the main screen click ODS file right click then a pop up screen opens select the option update ODS data target. Then another screen opens in that we are able to see 2 options full update, initial update then select initial update.
o     Then another screen opens info Package there the external data , data targets , scheduler select the option later in background option then a another screen opens just click immediate then click save automatically it closes then click start option.
o     Then select monitor option then the contents then the field to be elected then the file to be executed.

Can I use one infosource to update data to CUBE and ODS???

Can anyone tell me if I can load data to OSD and Cube from one the same InfoSource? As I know, I have to have "0recordmode"(update mode) in communication structure for ODS not for Cube. So how can ODS and Cube use the same Infosucre to update data?

Depending on the volume of data and the type of infosource, sometime one update to ODS first and then subsequently update to the Cube or update both cube and ODS in parallel.
For example, if you use AR or AP line item datasources, since you are extracting from both open line and closed line items tables, there could be multiple records for the same thing coming through. First when it appears as an open line item, and when it is paid, it appears again as a paid line item so if you update directly to the cube, you can have multiples of the real value. Thus in this instance you update from infosource to ODS then subsequently use delta update from ODS to cube. CCA and C0-PA on delta mode are example where there are no overlapping, thus you can update both ODS and Cube at the same time.

Adding one object to cube from ODS

hi guys,
i am loading the data from 7 ods objects to 1 cube.
in my report i want to see cost center which is there in 2 ods objects but not in all the ods ojects.
this cost center info object is not available in the cube too.
so when i generate a report i can't see cost center.
i am planning to add cost center in the cube and get the data from ods(using a routine).
my question is when i write a routine and get the data from one of the ODSs,i doubt the consistency of the data .
bcoz we r fetching from only 1 ods.
plz suggest me the feasible options

Hai Sri,
I understand from your question that you have "cost center" thats in 2 of the ODSs and not in other 5 ODSs that are feeding the cube.
If you are worried about the data consistency because you have dependency, then you have to write the routine checking the conditions on dependant objects.
For example:
I need to get cost center but cost center is dependant on lets say "work centers" and "resources".
I would write the logic something like this.
1. In START ROUTINE- Select all data from the ODS containing the three objects into a global table.
2. Declare conditions like for work center = a, resource =b, cost center = c.
3. In object mapping, I would create a routine and say that
In DATA_PACKAGE, if workcenter = DATA_PACKAGE-work center and reource = DATA_PACKAGE-resource, then Result = DATA_PACKAGE-cost center.
The logic given above may not completely suite your requirement but thats just an example if you are afraid that you may corrupt your data if you just get data the way Vrrp suggested to bring. If what Vrrp said works for you, thats the easiest.

Update data into Cube from 2 ODS

Hello Guys !
I have error in updating data from my 2 ODS to Mu infoCube.
I get this error :
10 records sent (0 received)
Any one have some idea why it doesn't work.

I have 2 ODS, I need to update my infocube with these 2 ODS.
on the ods context Menu : Update ODS data into Target ...
I get a Yellow Icon on the monitor.
on the details tab under Extraction, I get a yellow warning :
it says : 10 records sent (0 records received)
I'll check out the updates rules between ODS and my Cube.

JTextField update problem when called from PropertyChangeEvent

Hi,
I'm trying to create forms that can be dynamically loaded with Class.forname(formName).
Those forms should always inherit some methods that make it easy to pass data to
them and receive data from them. The idea is that the data comes from a table which
sends a hashmap (String column/JTextField-name + String Value pairs) with firePropertyChanged
as soon as a new row is seleceted. The JTextFields in the form are marked with setName("FieldName") that has to correspond to the name of the columns of the table.
My problem is that I can't update the fields in my form when I'm calling getRow(HashMap)
from within propertyChangeEvent but that's necessary to keep the forms flexible.
JTextFieldName.setText(newText) just won't work. But it works when I call getRow(HashMap)
from the constructor. SwingWorker and threads to update the form didn't help.
I don't need to call pack() / update() / repaint() on the JFrame, do I ??
update() / validate() / repaint() etc. didn't work on the JTextField themselves.
Below is the code for one of the test-forms (just a JPanel that is inserted in a frame)
with all of it's methods. Does anybody have a solution to this problem ??

The problem of the change in the form not being comitted is that
I forgot SwingUtilities.invokeLater(makeChanges); in the bottom
part in public void propertyChange(java.beans.PropertyChangeEvent evt)
after having created a new Runnable.
Changes to the UI often have to be comitted by SwingUtitlities.invokeLater()
though I don't know that much about Swing yet.

Can we delete particular request from ODS

Hi All,
Can't we delete particular request from ODS?
there are dozen of successful requests in ODS, when i deleted one successful request from the middle, all the subsequent requests lost the tick which indicates they are updated to cube. Is there any way that i can undo this one?
can we do selective request(successful) deletion from ODS?

what i was trying to do is re-arranging the requests according to chronological order, which are not in. imagine the scenario
ODS requests      cube request

3         ->             C
1         ->              A
what iam trying to do is put them in sequence
ODS request        cube request

3                           C
2                           B
1                           A
If i delete 3rd ODS request put it over 2 it won't accept as the request number is lesser than that of 2nd request.
can we reconstruct any request from reconstruction tab or just the latest request?
How does this effect the data which is already updated to cube from ODS?

How delta update works for info cube
When you are updateing the data to cube from ods then data would extracted from change log their delta pointer get setup in the source request (in Source you can check the option beside the reqest says updated to target object.... it means the records are updated to target hence we would not update the same request )
Incase of PSA to cube Also in the PSA request get stamped as last updated .
Regarding Generic Datasource
When we don't find any standard extractor then we can go for Generic(if i want information sales along with finance information in a data source then generally we dont get standard one hence we can go for generic DS)

for Delta capturing you can use
Timestamp(if the table has time stamp filed so it can stamp the last changed record in that table hence it is easy to get delta based on the time stamp)Calday- (If the table doesn't have the Timestamp filed then search for Calday where you can stamp the delta based on the date when documents are changed )
Numericpointer : If the table doesn't above both then we go for this option where you can the numeric value change stamp )

Transfer of data from ODS to ODS

Hi,
I have update rules set up from ODS 1 to ODS 2. I would like to take all ODS data into the ODS 2. In BI 7.0 we use transformations for this. How do we do this in the older version?

Hi,
If the system is still 3.5 then you will have to go to generated infosource object for this DSO in Infosource tab.
Find the generated infosource for the source DSO1 begining with 8* like 8DSO1.
Create an infopackage here at the data source below this infosource.
Now you can schedule a full repair load from DSO 1 to DSO2.
Its just like scheduling the data load from data source to PSA in BI 7.0.
The only difference is here is with infopackage you can schedule the data directly into the targets and not till PSA only.. as it is case with BI7.0
Create a new a new infopackage- init without data transfer .
Create another infopackage-Full repair
Here give selections if the data is huge and cannot be scheduled at one go.and load selectrion by selection.

Problem with update from ODS to Cube

Hi All,
I had an issue, when i was loading from ODS to Cube everything was fine except one data package failed coz of some object locked( User : myself, though i wasn't running anything else except this), but i check in SM12 no locks exist for that particular time.
apparently the load failed coz of this single package, its a load from ODS to Cube, so no chance of Manual update from PSA.
any suggestion: do i have to repeat that load all over again( sucks !!! it is for 40 mil)

Check the Job log fro ur Job in the SM37 and check for that Datapackage is there any thing failed liek
"ARFCSTATE-SYSFAIL" if this is there .. it means its an Deadlock .. please check the ST22 dump...
U can use the PSA...
1) go to the 8ODS infosource and copy the Delta IP
2) check the option in the processsing as Update PSA and the subsequently into the data targets
3) Schedule the IP manually

i need to do a datamart from a cube to an ODS, when i create the Update rules (in 3.5), this ask me "the infoobject 0RECORDMODE doesnt exist in the infosource", thats ok because the cube doesnt need the 0RECORDMODE, but the most weird is, all this that i need to do, is created and it works, now i dont know how that consultan could do it, how can i do this? help guys

You just create the export datasource for this infocube then create the flow from cube to ODS.Because from cube to ODS delta work on request based.So it will update the ODS according to the new request which will be load into the infocube...

Updating the last date request from ODS to CUBE

Dear Friends,
Please can someone explain me.
i allways update request from ods to cube, sometime there will be 3 to 4 request in the ods which wont have the Data mart (Tick) and when i update it to the cube. i can only see 1 request which is current date request. i dont know whether the previous days request has been updated to the cube.???
but i see in the ODS that all the data mart (tick) is available for all the request.
And please can someone explain me, if i have many request in the ods, current date previous day and so on.
Is there any way to update in such a way, where i can see all the dates in the Cube instead of only 1 request with current date in the cube.
when i delete the request from the cube and remove the tick from the ods, and refresh, then suddenly the current request and all the previous request TICK will be gone...

if you know everday how many request are getting updated in infocube as one request the you can check the added records in infocube .. it should be equal to the sum of all those request ..
but transferred can be more or equal .. also its depends on the
update rules ..designing ..

If you want to do like that, you have to create an infopack which updates data from ODS to cube.....Go to datamart ODS in your Infosouces...create an infopack....and you can giv request id in selection and do one by one

This is a flat file load from the datasource to the ODS and then from the ODS to the CUBE.
In the CUBE, I am trying to populate fields by using the ODS fields.
For eg.
In the ODS, a CHAR Infoobject has the data in the timestamp format(i.e. mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm ). I need to split this data and assign them to the two individual DATE and TIME Infoobject in the CUBE.
For this, I have done the coding in the Transfer Structure in the Rule Group.
The time field is gettin populated , but the date field is not getting populated.
I get an error as Eg:
Value '04052007' for CHAR 0DATE is not plausible
Due to this, the corresponding records is not getting displayed
Also, the records where the time id displayed, the date is not getting displayed inspite of the date being correct.
Please help me with a solution for this.

SAP accepts the date format in YYYYMMDD, so in the routine where you have concatenate the day month year...just do it in reverse order.....
