Update problem; no photos

I have updated to iPhoto 6.0.4 but it presents me with a library that is completely empty. There are folders for "Early Photos," "2004," "2005," etc. but nothing in them.
I have all my earlier library on a backup disk, but when I move them over to my current hard drive, I am confronted with a message stating, for example, "The operation cannot be completed because 'Argent29' is locked." (That is the title of one of my photos.) Apparently there are quite a few photos in one of the rolls that I locked several years ago for one reason or another. I know from messing around yesterday that there are about 20 locked files that are blocking the transfer.
Well, first — how do I search for all locked files so I can unlock them. (I tried doing it one at a time, and it is pretty time-intensive.) And, second — which of the two libraries is the system worried about? The new library or the old library? (Which files should I unlock?)
And, third, am I on the right track in trying to move the old library from my backup disk in the first place? (I actually succeeded in doing that yesterday but to no avail: I was confronted with a message saying something like "You've changed your files so you have to install a newer version of iPhoto to read them.")
So if you could respond with (1), (2) and (3) marked, I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe you could answer No. (3) first?

So I did all that. My photos are in the iPhoto Library on my Macintosh; I looked inside and opened some in Preview to be sure.
I then launched iPhoto, but I was confronted with the same error message as before, viz.:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto. Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process may take several minutes depending on the number of photos in the library.
Quit Upgrade
I chose Upgrade. The next messages were: "Loading Photos," followed by "Examining Photo Library," after which I got a message which said the same thing I had seen before:
"There is a problem accessing one or more files in your iPhoto Library folder. In the finder select the iPhoto Library folder. The choose File > Get info. Make sure you have read and write permissions for the folder and then apply this setting to all enclosed items."
The problem is: When I chose Get info, the Info box appeared to open but immediately flew off the screen in a southwesterly direction. I believe this is because just few hours ago I opened several score of Get info boxes and they proceeded to march out of sight, one by one, toward the lower-right section of the screen, where they disappeared from view. (Maybe they are still down there; I don't know.)
This is beginning to achieve the proportions of a comic opera: I know I have not lost my pix, but I can't see them or work with them under the present circumstances. Maybe I should go back to iPhoto 5, which was working just fine. What do you think?

Problem updating subtitles in photos

Sometimes when I update a title to a 4 sec photo, it deletes the photo and adds the title to the following photo. Photos are imported at 5 sec (Ken Burns effect off) and then add 4 sec title which results in 1 sec of photo without title. No transition between photos. This problem usually occurs after I've added titles to lots of photos. Currently I have an iMovie with 288 photos and problem started after I'd added titles to about half the photos. I can move the photo over 2 photos on the timeline, do the title update and it works as it should, then move the photo back to origional position. iMovie then appears OK, but I'm having the old multiplexing error when trying to create the .img file in iDVD and wondering if this could be contributing to the problem. What if I deleted the iMovie .plist like we do in iDVD? I also wonder if I'm memory limited with 768M memory. I have over 40GB free disk space so that shouldn't be the problem. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks Beverly for responding. I tired deleting iMovie .plist but got the same results (multiplexing errors) as far as creating the iDVD .img file. However I changed iDVD Pref from Best Quality, which I've always used, to Best Performance and it created the iDVD .img file OK. I've now started adding titles to the rest of the photos to see if I continue to have the UPDATE problem. Will know more tomorrow. Thanks.
P.S. I've done many long movies, most of the time without problems, but most were imported video, with limited photos. Seems I've always had one problem or another with mostly photos in iMovie, but until now have always been able to get through it.

Problem sending photos via email since I recently updated to iLife 11.

Having problem sending photos by Email since I upgraded to iLife11.
I followed the instructions.   I used to just select my photos and then a screen would come up to compose an email.
Now it comes up with templates and I had to set up what account to send them from. No matter what I do, it just
never goes thru.
What's the solution?

Set Mail as your preferred email client in the iPhoto Preferences -> General

Sudden Problem Sending Photos by Email

Hi,
After being able to successfully send photos from my iPhone by email ever since I got it, I suddenly have a problem. The recipient does not receive the photo - only a small blue box with a question mark in it. The copy of the email in my Sent folder looks the same.
I've tried a reset and, for info, I use BT Yahoo for email.
Have hunted high and low for reference to this and only found one post but there was no real explanation or resolution.
Any help or advice gratefully received. Cheers!

Problem sending photos by Email. Received a response from T. Devlin. Did not solve problem. I had already done what he suggested.

I had already entered my Email info under preferences.
The screen comes up with the photos I want to send.
I type my message and hit Send. The blue bar appears "Sending".
However, don't know where the photos go, they don't reach destination.
I tried sending to myself at another Email address - they didn't arrive, and they are not shown under Sent Emails either.
How to resolve?
Tried to respond to T. Devlin - but that didn't happen either. Just a Like symbol was there (as in Facebook).

Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 Problem with Photo JPG Codec ?

Hi everyone...
I have been working with music videos for several years using FCP 5.x and photo-jpeg codec, everything works fine. As time going by now I have updated my FCP using 6.0.3 with hopes to get better features. But unfortunately FCP 6 has problem with photo-jpeg codec. The problem is when I load a photo-jpeg video, the gamma will changes every time the playback head is start or stop. And I can't using video transition (standard cross-dissolve) anymore because the video gamma also change at the in transition and out transition. It also appear in my video monitor and output file ! I have searching all day to find out what is exactly the problem, but never get the solution. Should i come back to FCP 5.x ? Is it a BUGS or what ? What happen with Apple, why they let this happened ?
For information the video is in SD PAL & captured using Blackmagic Decklink card.

I believe this has to do with using YUV or RGB as the rendering method. RT is always RGB, but try changing the setting for your timeline to whatever it is not now...

Finally I had success, updating the device to IOS5. The solution was, to bring the Ipod to DFU mode. In this mode the update worked immediatelly. I used the already downloaded new OS and the update started without any problem on the first trial.

Problem getting photos

I insert my card reader into the USB port. The path for the photos is into my C: drive. The pictures are successfully shown in Organizer and in fact are in the C: drive. Now comes the problem; I click on each photo in Organizer, and Elements 6 cannot locate the file. When I did a metadata on the picture it shows a different path, into my H: drive which is my external hard drive where my photos are backed up. As you can imagine, I will be happy to hear the solution so I thank you in advance.

I took a screen shot placed it into wordpad but was not able to copy and paste into this email.
What appears is as you have below with the exception of the first line "C:>volumeid c: 66de-00da" and the last line "Volume ID for drive c: updated to 66de-00da"
On the command line I enter the path and "volumeid h: f828-50df g: 595b-27b7" and I get the response as I've just described.

If it doesn't, either type in the exact response or post a screen shot.
I forgot to mention that in c:\windows the file appears as volumeid and not volumeid.exe.
That's because your Windows Explorer is configured (by default) to not show the extensions (e.g. ".exe"). It shouldn't matter.
Next I have been attempting to run the psedbtool which is still on my desktop.
You need to use Windows Explorer to navigate to the folder c:\psedbtool and then double-click "run.bat" (which may show up as simply "run").

Problem posting photos to Facebook Pages. Help!

Is anyone else having a problem posting photos to Facebook Pages? I have been doing so on a daily basis for a few years now. Yesterday, I was unable to post to a Facebook Page (not personal accounts).
Now, when I attempt to create a Published Collection for Facebook, I no longer have the option to select an existing Facebook Page Album.

hi again.. in January it was a facebook problem.. there were no lightroom updates.. same now.. so you can go to facebook and fill in that form That Paul Diming talks about in a previous post
I have reported this problem to Facebook using their own problem reporting mechanism.
It would help if everyone who is having this issue should do the same. Here is the process:
1. Click on the pull down on the far upper right of the screen.
2. Click "Report a Problem"
3. Click "Something Isn't Working"
4. Select Pages on the pull down.
5. Explain the problem.
6. Upload a screen image. I captured an image of trying to create a new published collection with the pull down showing no Page Albums listed.
It might help for Facebook to know that it isn't just me having the problem.

When I restored my phone from icloud, half of my pics and videos have been deleted, the pics that were restored on my phone are very blurry, and the videos won't play. I get a message on my phone that says " the URL you are requesting is not found on this server". I have erased and reset my phone twice, but every time I do it, more pics and videos are deleted. I have backed up to icloud and iphoto, however, some of the pics are no longer on iphoto either. Is there someway to get the videos to play on my phone again? Make the photos not as blurry as they are now and to restore the pics and videos that have been lost? I really would love to have them back, this phone is supposed to be the best and right now it doesn't seem to be. Please help if you can.

Problem emailing photos from iPhoto after installing OS 10.5.1

Since installing Leopard I have had problems emailing photos from iPhoto. I can send from my laptop to another Mac without problem BUT when I try to email pix from iPhoto to a PC user or to post on my Google Group board it only sends the 'title' I gave it in iPhoto or the 'PC134567.JPG' the camera assigns it. I have tried exporting and attaching to emails but that doesnt work either .. at least not all the time. AND when I do send them from iPhoto to my office PC they arrive NOT as an attachment but are embedded in the email message .. seriously what the heck is going on and why is this not working the way it used to pre-OS 10.5.1? What changed? How can I make this work the way it used to?

Problems downloading Photos from 8900 smartphone

Hi
Im having problems downloading photos stored on an SD card from my BB to PC.
Ive looked at the other posts and turned on mass storage accordingly.
When I connect my BB to the PC using the USB link, the BB informs me the mass storage mode is being activated and requests a password, which I enter.
However, the BB does not appear in the Devices list in the My Computer screen on the PC.
Does anyone have ideas as to the problem??
I have lots of photos on there, so want to avoid sending dozens of mails to get the photos off the BB.

Have you checked the Windows Device Manager to see if the BlackBerry and/or Mass storage device shows up? Also, the BlackBerry may show up in "My Computer" as a removable storage device.

Self explanatory.
You could try creating an iPod version of the films.
Use CTRL and B to display the Menu bar shown above. Alternatively, use the ALT key, followed by the F key, the W key and finally the I (eye) key - that's (menu)/File/Create New Version/Create iPod or iPhone version.

Thanks for you reply. I'm 99% positive that I'm using the user id and password that I used to set up my computer. That's why I'm stumped. I read the solution someone else suggested (type your user name without @gmail and create a new password. When I tried it, I was asked for my birthday. It didn't recognize it. I know I got my birthday correct. Oh well...
