update/refersh the GUI application contents
How can i refresh/update the contents of a C#.NET GUI application.(contents of a GUI application)
I.e: i need to update the GUI form & its contents after every 5-seconds automatically.
(I have 2 GUI applications, each containing 5-buttons. When i click the button from GUI-form1 it should "automatically" display in the GUI-form2. At present it displays ; BUT, only when i minimize & restore again the GUI form.)
So, how can i automatically update the new state of the GUI form.
(just like reloading the GUI application after every 5-seconds)
(i.e should occur the event after 5-sec)
pls help!

Error in accessing the sample application content from the OBIEE 11g

I installed OBIEE 11g + Oracle 11g database on one machine. Everything went smoothly with no issues.
I can connection to the database from SQLPLUS.
Then I followed instructions to deploy sample app. After everything is done, when I try to access the dashboards, reports etc from the OBIEE 11g home page , I get the error below.
I am stuc kand dont know how to proceed. I verified tnsnames.ora and everything seems good.
In the SampleAPp.RPD, I set DB_SID as "ORCL" and DB_HOST as my computer name (along with domain name). No idea how to proceed from here..
I really appreciate any help.

1) Was the oracle installed in multiple instances ? if yes set the Variable path correctly pointing to your right folder
Yes, oracle had multiple instances. I tried copying the tnsnames.ora from my oracle home to the Oracle_BI1/network/admin directory as 11g apparetnly comes with a Oracle client as BIFACTs suggested in his/her reply. I put the same in the path variable
2) Try to ping the service_name tnsping service_name(SID) from command prompt
This works.
3) check whether you may have "white spaces" in tnsnames.ora file at starting of entry
No white spaces appeated
I still see the same issue! I logged in as developer credentials as mentioned the sample app documentation.
I get the same "cannot connect to database" error.
I once in a while see an issue with javahost not starting. Not sure what is the impact of javahsot not running and all the other managed processes running.

Taking screenshots won't update in the Photos application.

When ever I go to take a screenshot or delete a screenshot on my iPod Touch, it won't work. I have restored my iPod to see if that would fix it, and it wouldn't. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks.

What happens when you try to take a screenshot? Do you get a flash of the screen?
Lets review the procedure:
To take a screenshot all you need to do is hold down the Menu button (the black circle) and press the power button at the top of the device – you will see a white flash on your screen which means the screenshot was taken.
In order to access the screenshots just go to your Pictures on your iPod Touch. It will appear within your saved images. If you would like to email it to someone, click the image once and you will notice an arrow on the far bottom left click that and it will give you three options – Email, Set as wallpaper, and set it as a contact’s icon. Select email and it will open Mail (assuming you have it configured to work with your email and a WiFi connection) just enter the person’s email and hit send. That’s it!

Joanne please remove your current installation of Photoshop Lightroom using the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.
You will then want to download Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1 from Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh. The update contains the entire application. Photoshop Lightroom can not be installed through the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop application and still be licensed with a serial number.

Updating Mail (the application)

Mail is acting funky, crashing. Tried deleting lots of messages (9,000 in inbox). No success. I haven't updated Mail since July 2009. What updates have come out since then? I found an update for those using X10.5 (I'm using 6.8), but it told me it couldn't do that update to my "volume."
I am using Mail 4.5
Surely there is a newer update.

Any updates to the Mail application would come as part of the updates to Mac OS X. There are no separate updates available.
For assistance with the crashing problems, I'd suggest posting in the Mac OS X 10.6 forum. Posting here unnecessarily limits those who'll see your question to MacBook users, where someone running some other model might have suggestions. When you repost, please include more details, especially the type of mail account(s) you're using (e.g. POP, IMAP, Exchange). Also list any third-party plugins to Mail, if you have any installed (SpamSieve, MailHub, et. al.)

JLabel not updating text in GUI

i've spent about an hour trying to get my label to update from another class. i set the label to public and i tried to invoke setText() on it from the other class, but it doesnt change it in the GUI. i printed the getText() method of the label and it's identical to what i tried to set it to be, but it just isnt displaying the correct text.
i know to update in the GUI it needs to repaint itself, but this is automatic for setText() and it is working for the local calls to setText().
i have a method

Gui application slow with JWS but fast without

I've created and generated a GUI application into a jar file. Starting the application via
the java web start gives me a very poor performance. However starting the GUI
application by double clicking on the downloaded jar file works very smoothly and fast.
I don't want to lose the JWS options of automatic downloads of updated applications etc.,
any ideas of how to solve this problem?

I saw that suggestion when I did a search on problems like this.
It used to go fast, but for some unknown reason, it slowed down w/ CPU maxed at 100% a few weeks ago. The user swears nothing changed.
As for 1.4.1RC1, all I can tell you is I installed the english JRE, then tried the international JRE, then the international SDK for 1.4.1RC1 for Windows. I even uninstalled JRE 1.3.1_04 before that and also uninstalled before each install. In none of the installs did Java Web Start get installed on the desktop. I did a File Find using Windows for "javaws.exe" and it was not on any local drive. It's almost as if the JWS installer was not run automatically during the install process because I didn't see it pop up.
There are no disk space issues. This user is running Win2K and had 18GB (yes, gigabytes) free on his laptop.

I have photoshop CS6 Extended. Version 13.0 x 64. I have the latest version of the Creative Cloud and I am notified frequently that an update for the product is available. But update through the adobe application manager fails. The Error number is (U44M1P7). I have a Mac running OS 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro 1,1 (2006) intel.

Daemon/GUI application.

Hey guys,
I'm working on an application which use a daemon to schedule few operations.
My daemon work well as a launchdDaemon. My daemon executable is a Foundation Tool and it use Objective-C.
My problem is at launch, the daemon read a plist (this of the GUI application), but it's seems that the daemon cant read the user plist at boot. The log in /Library/Logs:

So, can't the daemon read the user preference files?

There are wrappers that can be used to run java programs as deamon / services like:

There are others wrappers to use any native app as a service, but
javaws.exe can't be instructed to ignore the session close signal.
So, it's close at logout and ends your started java program.
Will be very usefull if javaws.exe can be instructed in any way to ignore that signals.

State of GUI application launched from sequence in a STA mode

I have a GUI object that needs to be running from a STA thread, so I created a "GUI" subsequence in my Application.seq. In my Application.seq's main sequence's local variable I created a GUIObj as a object reference variable. When calling my GUI subsequence I call it in a new thread with STA settings and pass GUIObj as a parameter. The passed in parameter is used by GUI subsequence to launch my GUI. My question is when my GUI subsequence finishes my thread seems to end, but my GUI application is running, so in what thread is the GUI application running. My assumption was as long as the GUI applicaton is running the thread with STA settings will be alive.

I'm not in a position to 100% verify this at the moment, but I'm pretty sure what is happening is that your thread is returned to an internal thread pool. For a variety of reasons, the thread must continue to pump messages while in the pool. This causes no overhead when there are no messages. However, it will allow your window to live on when you might have otherwise expected it to hang.

Need Help to update the labels in the GUI syncronously - Swing application

First off, note that this question should have been posted in the Swing section.
GUI events run in a separate thread (the AWT / Event Dispatch Thread) than your program.
You should be invoking AWT/Swing events via SwingUtilities.invokeLater().
If for whatever reason you want to have the program thread wait for the event to process
you can use invokeAndWait().

when i run this service in sharepoint server(where the sharepoint site is hosted),it is working fine. If i run the same service in another machine(sharepoint installed in this machine also). it is giving the below error

I also had similar issue couple of months back when I was trying to access a remote URL from a Windows service when the site does not exists in the server where service resides.
You cannot access a remote url (even though it is SharePoint server and also in same network ) from server object model.
SPSite can look in the current server only. here what is happening is SPSite will look for this in the current server DB and it is not finding this errror.
So please dont use ServerObject model for accessing remote sites. You can use Client Object model for the code /requirement you have stated above.
I wasted lot of time in finding a work around to make to work. It did not. So look for other options.
