I tried to update my ipad air from IOS 7.0.4 to 7.1 on iTunes. I clicked download and update, it started to download normally but when download finished iTunes shows error that "The software for the iphone was corrupted during download".
How can I fix this error ?

I had the same problem. In the end I downloaded it manually. Here's the steps assuming you are on a Mac and have an iPad Air (Wifi). If not you can find other restore links here.
In the terminal (it kept failing to download in Safari):
    curl http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS7.1/031-4521.20140310.D2Ydl/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Rest ore.ipsw >>~/Desktop/iPad4,1_7.1_11D167_Restore.ipsw
Once the file has downloaded, move it to ~/Library/iTunes/iPad Software Updates/
    Quit and relaunch iTunes.
    Should now work for you.

  • After updateing my iPad Air 2 to iOS 8.3, it no longer works

After updating my iPad Air 2 to iOS 8.3, it no longer works.  It is a 64 GB model.
The opening screen is the same as when I first starting using it, with "welcome" in various languages.
I have gone through the operations requested, iCloud, etc. but at the very end I get my home screen for about 1 second, then the machine shuts down.
I backed up and synced the iPad before installing iOS 8.3, and tried a restore, but it made no difference.
You guys out there have never let me down yet!  I hope you can help!
    Thanks in advance.

You're not alone in this problem.  My iPad Mini 3 was working great until the iOS 8.3 update, which kicked into the same loop you're describing.  Sounds like at least one person has had luck with factory restore.  Check out the thread here:  Anyone else seeing issue with iOS 8.3 update on iPad Mini 3?

  • Unable to Restore iPad Air With iPad 2 Backup

    Hello All,
I just purchased an iPad Air 128Gb Wi-Fi version to replace my iPad 2 64 Gb Wi-Fi version. I tried to restore the iPad Air with the iPad 2 backup through iTunes, but each time it aborts with a message to effect that the iPad 2 backup is either corrupted or not compatible. I tried backing up the iPad 2 again and then restoring iPad Air with the newer backup - but get the same message.
The result of this is that it is trying to sync all my old Apps but without their data - i.e. no previous game saves and the like. It also is not maintaining the folder structure that I previously had on my iPad 2.
Is there some kind of compatibility problem with restoring from an iPad 2 backup? This seems strange since my iPad 2 is only 2 years old. I've seen that other people had similar problems but with different devices. I'm just wondering if anyone has had this problem trying to restore to an iPad Air from an older iPad backup, and how do you get around this problem?
Any help would be tremendously appreciated. I really need to get my old App data and App folder structure from the old iPad backup.
FYI, I made sure that both the iPad 2 and the iPad air are both using iOS 7.0.3 in case that matters.

New problem following up on the previous.
My iPad Air restoration from iPad 2 backup is not proceeding smoothly. Specifically, the Apps are taking forever to download - it's been 48 hours and I have yet to complete the download process. Granted, I had a 64gb ipad 2 but I'm using a cable internet connnection. Also, some of the Apps are being copied without preserving the folder structure from my iPad 2. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to why this is happening.
I tried plugging my iPad Air into iTunes thinking it would reload the Apps faster, but this only results in one of the following situations each time I sync:
    1) The iPad spends a long time syncing, specifically, it hangs on Step 6 without end. If allowed to go overnight, I will discover it the next morning still on step 6.
    2) The iPad finishes syncing (per iTunes), but when I check the iPad, there are still Apps waiting to download.
    3) The iPad syncs, but then it says that 20+ apps could not be copied because of insufficient free space. A look at the status bar shows that there is at least 14-20 Gb free on the iPad Air. (***?)
    4) The iPad syncs, but the few Apps that do copy show up without the folder structure preserved from my iPad 2.
Now, the reason I didn't want to restore from an iCloud backup is to avoid the eternal restore process. I can't figure out why it's taking so long. I kept my iPad next to my wireless router, so I know it's not a router problem. My internet was working so that's not the problem. Now.... I would be happy to restore from an iTunes backup, but I was unable to do so in the first place - kept getting "file corrupted or incompatible" message, which is what prompted me to post in the first place.
    Is anyone else experiencing this?

Migrating from iPhoto for iOS to Photos on iOS 8 - Apple Support
The following data will migrate from iPhoto to Photos.
Any photos in your iPhoto library that aren't already in Photos are added.
Image adjustments you made in iPhoto are migrated to Photos.
If you applied image adjustments to photos synced to your iOS device from iTunes, a duplicate of each photo will be created in Photos with adjustments applied.
Photos hidden in iPhoto do not appear in the Years, Moments, or Collections views in Photos, but are placed in an album titled Hidden.
Photo Books, Web Journals, and Slideshows are converted into regular albums in Photos. Text and layouts are not preserved.
Only projects created on the device performing the migration will be converted. Projects you synced from other devices to iPhoto via iCloud must be converted from the devices on which they were created.
Photos marked as Favorites in iPhoto are marked as Favorites in Photos.
Tags and captions from iPhoto are not displayed in Photos, but you can use them as search terms and they will show up respectively as Keywords and Titles in Photos search results.
Flags from iPhoto are converted to the keyword Flagged.

  • Ipad (4th gen) can't be updated/restored.  I get an error message stating "The ipad cannot be restored at this time because the ipad software update server could not be contactded or is temporarily unavailable."

    Hello.
I am using a PC (windows 7) and trying to update my ipad 4th generation  via Itunes.  i was trying to update to the latest operating system.
The error message cited above pops up every time.
I just updated the newest version of Itunes, updated windows 7, restarted my computer, turned off virus/firewall, and none of that worked.
I tried restarting my ipad, but theres nothing there.  It just says to connect to itunes.  The only option Itunes gives me is to restore.  I click that, and still get the same error message.
This is a freshly bought ipad and I don't care if the few things I have on it are erased.  I just want it to work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I read through as many of those threads as I can find.
    They offered the following solutions:
    1. turn off anti-virus
    2. turn off firewall
    3.  update itunes
    4. update windows
    5. restart computer
    6. try different usb ports
    7. update usb ports
I have tried all of those things and none of them worked, so I decided to start a new thread.

  • Download of 8.1.2 update for ipad air 2 consistently fails after 2-3 hours.

I've made several attempts to download the 8.1.2 update for my ipad air 2.  Past IOS updates for earlier ipads typically took 3-4 hours.  With this update for the new air 2, the estimated time rapidly climbs from 4 hours to 14, then after 2-3 hours the status changes to "processing file", then there's a popup that "an error occurred".  Unfortunately I didn't capture the exact error code.  This has happened 4 times now at different times of different days of the week.  Using the latest version of iTunes (side note - where's help/about for version info?) on Windows 8.1.  Any ideas?  TIA.

Thanks but that's no help.  I have a relatively high-speed connection.  The 8.1.2 upgrade for our iphones still took 2-3 hours.  The issue with that doesn't seem to be my connection as it's only managing 1/3-1/2 full out.  I suspect any network slowdown is elsewhere.  In any case the estimate seems to be off because the download seems to complete.  At least that's how I interpret the status change from downloading to processing file. THEN the error occurs.

Has your iPad at anytime been replaced? This seems to be a common aspect of the problem.

  • Restoring iPad from a failed update

I'm trying to update my iPad to iOS5 using a Windows Vista laptop but I keep getting the same error, where my computer is unable to download the required Apple Mobile Device drivers. This disables my computer from restoring my iPad so now it is stuck on the screen with the USB cord and the iTunes logo. The backup went successfully but the restoring is where I'm stuck.
I've tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, restarting the iPad, scanning my computer for viruses - none has worked. Whenever I open iTunes on my computer it does not show up so that I can sync it.
I'm wondering if I could use another computer to restore the iPad, risking losing all my information stored on it and then since the backup was successful if I could simply sync the computer and the iPad and I will get back everything. Will that work? And if not, does anyone have any other solution as to how I can restore my iPad?

How exactly do I restore from the backup? Go to Edit >> Preferences >> Devices and then what?
This is not where you restore from the backup. This is where you can find your backups and delete them if you need or want to do so.
Connect the iPad to the computer
    Launch iTunes
Right Click on the iPad name under "Devices"
    Select "Restore from Backup"
A window will pop up that will allow you to pick from any of the backups that you have for your iDevices. Choose the backup that you want to se in there.
