Update Rollup 2 for SCO 2012 R2

I have just installed SC2012R2 Orchestrator and then upgraded Rollup 2 through Windows Update.  Do I need to run anything special after it on the database like it is required for VMM Update Rollup 2?
In the installation instructions there was one mention that if SMA is also in place then we need to change the database connection string, but since I do not have SMA at the moment, is it still applicable to me?

Hi,
UR2 is the current update for System Center 2012 R2 Orchestrator (without SMA). You don't need to configure anything after the update.

  • Update Rollup 2 for SCVMM 2012 R2 - unable to start VMM service

I have a 2012R2 VMM installation where suddenly the VMM service refuses to start and I believe the problem is caused by Update Rollup 2. In the event log I see:
    Application: vmmservice.exe
    Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.
    Exception Info: System.Data.SqlTypes.SqlNullValueException

UR2 was first installed on the VMM host by windows update but I have since also downloaded the updates and applied them manually and also run the SQL on the database as specified in KB2932926 but the problem persists. Ideas?
All VMM components running on the same server with the DB on another server.
I have spent a bit of time searching for others with this problem and all I can find is this

    Hi,
Here is a short procedure how you can apply UR2 on HA VMM server:
    1. Apply UR2 server and console on the passive node.
    2. Stop the HA VMM service.
    3. Apply the SQL script to the VMM DB.
    4. Start the HA VMM service on the node that you've applied UR2.
    5. Apply UR2 server and console on the other node that was previously active.
    6. Update VMM agents on Library server, Update Server and Hyper-V hosts from the VMM console
So In short: both vmm servers are updated with UR2. The script needs to be applied once to the database. The library server is updated trough the console.

    Hi,
Did you follow the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2929891 to install the UR2?
    In the article:
We recommend that you install this update rollup package by following these steps in the given order:
Install the update rollup package on the following server infrastructure:
    Management server or servers
    Gateway servers
    Web console server role computers
    Operations console role computers
Apply SQL scripts (see installation information).
    Manually import the management packs.
Apply the agent update to manually installed agents, or push the installation from the Pending view in the Operations console.
Please check whether your operation manager server works well. Please check the event logs for more related information to help to troubleshoot this issue.

  • Update Rollup 2 for SCVMM 2012 R2

In order to apply Update Rollup 2 one needs to first run the update on the Management Server then run the script on the Database that is holding VirtualManagerDB. I have following scenario:
An SCVMM 2012 R2 HA setup with Failover Clustering and a Standalone Library Server.
I have done the above on the active management server of SCVMM Cluster.  Now, in SCVMM Console, I can see the updated version of the active management server, but passive node still shows it to be the older along with the library server.
    1.  How to apply update rollup 2 to the passive node of the scvmm cluster?
    2.  How to apply update rollup 2 to the standalone library server?
    3.  Do I need to just run the update rollup 2 on both server?
    4.  Do I need to run the script again the VirtualManagerDB Database?
    Thanks in advance.

FYI.  I've had the same issue after I installed Update Rollup 3 (KB2965413), seeing the exact same error on event log.  Tried to start the service manually, getting service unable to start error.  This is a machine running
with Windows Server 2012 Standard.  Solution for me is simple. I just install
KB2965414 (Update Rollup 3 for SCVMM 2012 R2), reboot the server, and the SCVMM service auto start up by itself.

  • Console freez after install Rollup 5 for DPM 2012 R2

    Hello,
first domain admin installed Update Rollup 5 for DPM 2012 R2. The DPM console freeze in "Monitoring" area in second domain admin. In first domain admin DPM console works good. Do anybody know where si problem?
    Thanks,
    Jakub

    Hello Cejka,
The GUI might freeze in one of the the following cases :
    Case1:
You have never protected the DPM server’s System State, with the DPM server itself
You have protected some System State from other Production Servers
    You upgrade to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the DPM Server itself
    Case2:
You have a primary DPM server protecting the System State of a Production Server
You have attached the primary DPM server to a secondary DPM server for Disaster Recovery
You upgrade the secondary DPM server to UR5
You trigger an inquiry on the
primary DPM server in the secondary DPM server UI
    Then:
The UI crashes, and gets hung if you start it again
    Cmdlets are also unresponsive
    Workaround:
Stop all DPM services (MSDPM, Access Manager, DPM Writer, DPMRA, VssNullProvider)
Open the SQL Server Management Studio (Either from Start Screen, or Run: ssms.exe)
Connect to the SQL Instance holding the DPM DB
    Backup Your DPM Backup
Right click the DPM DB and click on “New Query”
    Paste the following SQL script:
    DELETE
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    WHERE
    ProtectedObjectId IN
    SELECT PO.ProtectedObjectId
    FROM dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObject
    AS PO
    JOIN dbo.tbl_AM_Server
    AS SRVR
    ON PO.ServerId
    = SRVR.ServerId
    WHERE (CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'System State'
    OR CONVERT(VARCHAR(4096),PO.ComponentName)
    = 'Bare Metal Recovery')
    AND PO.ProtectedInPlan
    = 0
    AND PO.ProtectedObjectId
    NOT IN
    (SELECT
    ProtectedObjectId FROM
    dbo.tbl_IM_ProtectedObjectAlerts)
    AND LOWER(CONVERT(XML,PO.LogicalPath).value(
    '(/child::ArrayOfInquiryPathEntryType/child::InquiryPathEntryType[attribute::Type="Server"]/attribute::Value)[1]',
    'VARCHAR(4096)'
    )) !=
    LOWER(SRVR.ServerName)
    Press F5 to execute
    Start all DPM services
The UI and cmdlets should work normally as before

  • DPM 2012 R2 Rollup 4, Update Rollup 7 for Exchange Server 2010 SP3 backups with eseutil check fail

    Hi,
It could be a coincidence, but ever since installing Update rollup 4 onto DPM 2012 R2, (which was at UR3 I believe) I haven't been able to complete an Exchange express full backup or consistency check with verification using Eseutil checked. If I have the
eseutil check enabled I get the following error:
    Type: Consistency check
    Status: Failed
Description: Data consistency verification check failed for LOGS of Exchange Mailbox Database Mailbox Database 2011112513 on SERVER.xxx. (ID 30146 Details: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process (0x80070020))
Disabling the eseutil verification allows it to succeed, but I'm not happy to continue with that for too long.
I've had this running for many years and this is the first real issue with exchange, its a single stand alone exchange database.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    Andreas,
the error is stating that something else has a handle to a file or files during the ESEUtil check.  Typically this is AV.  I have also seen where the Exchange limits are exceeded and that causes the issue.
Please ensure you have the DPM AV exclusions for the DPM server and I would advise the DPMRA.exe on the PS.  You can also trying disabling or removing AV as a test.
    DPM AV exclusions -
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh757911.aspx
You may also want to test using eseutil against the logs outside DPM and see if that fails with similar issue.  Let us know.  Thanks

  • VssNullProver stopped after installing Update Rollup 3 for System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 R2

I recently installed Update Rollup 3 for System Center Data Protection Manager 2012 R2.
As part of the update I updated all DPM Agents, including the ones on our Hyper-V Servers (which are part of a cluster). I also rebooted every DPM Protected Servers. After reboot all Hyper-V Servers raise a warning that the VssNullProvider service has stopped.
Backup seems to work properly. I can start the VssNullProvider service manually. But after the next backup the service it is stopped again. Exactly the same issue occurs on our test Hyper-V Cluster. All our Hyper-V Servers run Windows Server 2012 R2 and
we use System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 R2.
Something is not ok with Update Rollup 3. Any suggestions?

  • Installing Update Rollup 4 for R2. Question of post installation task

I will be installing Update Rollup 4 for Service Manager 2012 R2 on our Orchestrator, Data Warehouse, Service Manager and Portal Server as well as updating the client Consoles.
    Following MS article
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2989601/en-us?sd=rss#install.
A bit confused about the Post installation tasks. Particularly the following:
Resynchronize System Center Operations Manager mount point data
To resynchronize Operations Manager mount point data after you apply this update, follow these steps:
Disable all the Operations Manager configuration item (CI) connectors in the Service Manager console.
In Windows PowerShell, check the current execution policy by running the following cmdlet:
    Get-ExecutionPolicy
If the current execution policy is Restricted, set it to
Remotesigned by running the following command:
    Set-ExecutionPolicy –force RemoteSigned
Find the following PowerShell script in your System Center 2012 R2 installation directory:
    OMCIConnector_SyncMetadata_UpdateTimestamp.ps1
By default, you should find this file in the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012 R2\Service Manager\PowerShell
Run the following command from the Primary Management server:
    PowerShell .\OMCIConnector_SyncMetadata_UpdateTimestamp.ps1
Revert the execution policy to the original value that it had in step 2.
Enable and synchronize the relevant Operations Manager CI connectors.
Make sure that all the mount point data is populated in Service Manager.
I am guessing they are talking about the System Center Configuration Manager Connector but not sure. We don't have a Connector for SCOM. If by OMCIConnector they mean SCOM, then I don't need to worry about this.  If would be nice if they would tell
you why you are doing this. I don't even know what "Mount Point Data" is.
Does anyone know if it would cause any problems if I skipped this step? I hate doing stuff when I don't know why I am doing it. For example, step 8 "Make sure that all the mount point data is populated in Service Manager."
    What does that even mean?
Also, I cannot even find the PowerShell script they are talking about in the C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center 2012\Service Manager\Powershell folder so are they talking about SCOM or SCCM?

All of the steps listed refer to the Operations Manager connections. none of these steps relate to the Config Manager connector.  If you are not using SCOM, or don't have a SCOM connector, then you can safely ignore these steps.

  • Issue with Update Rollup 5 for Exchange 2010 SP3 - Mailboxes that were auto mapped not working

Below is  my response in another thread but creating a new one in the hopes that someone has the same issue and a solution besides mine below.
Ever since we installed Update Rollup 5 for SP3 Exchange 2010 mailboxes that were auto mapped are not accessible. They all get the same error.
Cannot expand the folder. The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log on to the Microsoft Exchange has failed.
What I have been doing is removing the users permission, then adding them back using the noautomap switch in Powershell. After doing that, the user manually adds the mailbox and all is well.
Just a note here, I suspect it may have something to do with the version of Outlook 2010. We are running an older version here. I think only SP1 with no other incremental updates. Office is up to SP2. Also, one of the users I was working with could not access
the mailbox no matter what we tried but she can walk over to another workstation and open Outlook and access the very same mailbox so that pretty much proves its software related particularly with Outlook.
I cannot reproduce the problem on a workstation (XP) with a newer version of Outlook.
This has been wearing me out and I suspected the Update Rollup all long. Now I am confident as others are having the same problem. If you find out anything on how to fix this other than the steps above, let me know.

Not sure why it was suggested to use the auto mapping feature to grant permissions because that is the component that is causing the issue. Also, there is nothing wrong with the auto configuration because the user can access their own mailbox just fine and
also select mailboxes in their Outlook that were NOT auto mapped.
With that said, here is how I fixed them all.
Remove the permissions using the Exchange Console. Don't forget Send As
Wait about 15 minutes. The mailbox should disappear from the users Outlook
Open an Exchange PowerShell window and run the following command:
.\add-mailboxpermissionsnoautomap.ps1 -Identity mailbox -User user -AccessRights FullAccess
Have the user add the mailbox to their Outlook using the manual process.
    All is well....
If you don't have the PS script add-mailboxpermissionsnoautomap.ps1, you can download it. I stumbled across it a few years ago and use it all the time. If you can't find it, just use the Exchange built in command for adding mailbox folder permissions but
    specify automap $false.
The idea here is to grant the user access without auto mapping.

  • Exchange 2010 update after Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 (KB2407113)

Mine exchange server 2010 standard has Update Rollup 5 for Exchange Server 2010 (KB2407113) as latest update.
Can someone help me which update i can install after this, can i start with
Update Rollup 1 for Exchange Server 2010 SP1.
    Many thanks in advance

    My recommendation will be:
    Remove update roll-up 5
Install SP1 check that everything is working
Install SP2 check that everything is working
Install SP3 check that everything is working
I think it will be risky for you to go straight to SP3.

  • OWA Blank Logon Page After Update Rollup 12 for Exchange 2007 SP3

    Hello
After installing Update Rollup 12 for Exchange 2007 SP3, can no longer access OWA - internally or externally through Internet Explorer -  I just get a blank page (with IE). If I use Chrome or Firefox, and it uses the basic logon, I get a page with just
text, and am able to logon successfully. I have looked at several related forums, but have not found a fix yet. I've seen several people with similar issue have had success by copying contents from a previous owa folder version to the latest one, then running
Updateowa.ps1 and restarting IIS. This did not resolve the issue for me.
Another forum suggested running remove-owavirtualdirectory and
new-owavirtualdirectory, however I haven't attempted that yet, as I'm unsure how I could reverse the changes that the command runs if things get worse.
    Any assistance will be appreciated.

  • What is the total space Update Rollup 7 For Exchange 2010 SP3 (KB2961522) will take after installation?

    Quick question.
What is the total space Update Rollup 7 For Exchange 2010 SP3 (KB2961522) will take after installation?
    Hasan

    Hi
Your question is a big vague. Extracting the rollup will use some space but you can delete the files afterwards.
Are you concerned about space while installing? If you have adequate space it shouldnt be a problem.
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
I am asking space after installation, it will definitely install some files so how much space extra space it needed in exchange directory drive.
