Update rules are red..?

Hi Guru's ,
The update rules for a particular currency fields are not gree in update rules when we are updating the data from ODS to Cube.There two currency fields which are associted with a currency fields one is with 0currency and other one is 0crm_currency.It is avialable in ODs and also in the cube.
What might be the reasons for the update rules to be in red status,

From the error, it is clear your mapping is not done for that particular infoobject
You just press any infoobject mapping..go to charecteristics tab...here you are supposed to write a routine for that infoobject depending on your requirement
Or give it as initial value or give some constant date if routine is not applicable for your business requirement...then it will become green

I deleted the inactive update rules(6 nos) and installed again from BI Content, then the same issue raising.

Hi Vassu,
here are some of the reasons for getting error in update rules activation.
1. Check the formula or routines that are used in Update rules and check is there any syntax errors.
2. check whether the mappings are correct or not.
3. check the info objects which ur used for mapping are in active or not..
(or) if the info object may be deleted which ur using for mappings.

In your update rules ,i hope there some start routine of update routines couls be there and those rotines didn't transported successfully .Check your update rules in DEV

In bw testing I have activated the update rules and saved in different request but I now updates rules not acitve .

Update rules are inactive

Hello All,
i have added another dimension 0mat_unit to the existing infocube of multiprovider to create a report.
As i added new dimensions underlying update rules became inactive and when i try to activate them iam getting message IC=xxxx IS=yyyy error when checking the update rules.
can you please give ur advice to solve the problem

When you add some new objects to your cube then you have to add them in your info source and data source in order to get correct data and if you dont want to populate data to them from source then you can have your own rules like routines and formulas so please add them to comm structure and transfer structure and map the rules and then try to activate them it will work,

This usually happens if if you have added new fields in the cube and if that field is not properly mapped , ie
no mapping being done but it looks like some routine there for that field but we would have not written the routine
just simply routine symbol appears in that case
if you dont have mapping assign it as initial in update rule or map them properly which will resolve your issue.

Example: If the cube contains calendar month and your transfer structure contains date, the date to month is converted automatically.

Can not view update rules on production BW server

This can be quite a time-consuming problem as I can't always tell if the latest update rules are successfully transported to production.
Most every where else in production I can choose to DISPLAY however this is not the case with update rules only.
Is this a typical setting for most companies? Can I turn off this setting so I can at least DISPLAY the update rules?

as far as I know you can only see any rules (transfer, update etc.) in BW in change mode.
if you know where to change this setting (i.e. to see rules) - do it
you only have to remember to change it on dev and transport.

How do I tell if a particular update rule is used

I have inherited a sales reporting application in BW 3.5. It has update rules from 2LIS_13_VDITM to 4 level 1 ODS. There are update rules from those 4 level 1 ODS to Level 2 ODS and cubes. So far so good. However there are also update rules from 2LIS_13_VDITM to the L2 ODS and to the cubes direct.
My belief is that these update rules are never used. This is based on the production infopackage settings which do NOT have these objects ticked as data targets. However i would like to know for sure that these update rules have never been used.
Question: Is there a way to tell this eg.
a) is there a table linking infosource to destination with a date last used,
b) or a table linking infopackage to destinations showing when a particular destination was last changed,
c) or some other mechanism?

Chk the L2 ODS which have update rules from 2LIS_13_VDITM if it has data loaded in it in production.
If its loaded means it is used.
You can also chk whether the InfoPackage which loads this data is used in any process chain, and then chk if that chain is scheduled in production.

Error while activating the update rules related to Inventory

In standard Cube 0ic_c03, I am including a field 0MAT_DOC that is available in the transfer rules of 2lis_03_bx. And when I include that info object in the cube my update rules are getting deactivated.
When I try to activate the update rules, I am getting the following error message:
1. InfoSource 2LIS_03_BX is only set up for the initial run for non-cumulatives.
2. IC=0IC_C03 IS=2LIS_03_BX error when checking the update rules.
Requesting you to please guide me on how do I go about solving this issue.

For implementation of inventory in the BW side, first you need to carry out following steps sequentially:
1. MCNB: Filling set up tables for initial entry of stock balances from 2lis_03_BX
2. OLI1BW:Filling set up tables for stock movements from 2lis_03_BF.
3. OLIZBW:Filling set up tables for inventory revaluations from 2lis_03_UM
Check the Business content cube 0IC_C03.
Also check the document how to inventory management.
For report install the business content report for the cube 0IC_C03 and check it.

I didnot changed any thing in ODS,I Just created the new infosource with only two characteristics and created the update rules direct updating,with out any routines.
I activated the update rules in Dev couple of times and transported to PD,but every time it is giving same error,there was no issues upto QA,
Please suggest anybody how to resolve this issue.

Iam checking from transport request error log,iam getting error message as I mentioned in my question,
iam not getting detail information on error log,Update rules are available in PD system but in inactive state,
I did the Update rules check it is giving message 'no erreors found in update rules'.
I collected all dependent objects from transport collecter,still same error,I tried from Program
RSAU_UPDR_REACTIVATE_ALL,but my PD system is in not modifiable state.

My infocube is having warnings for 4 key figures as "InfoCube contains the key figure 0DSCT_PCT1 with the impermissible aggregation NOP" .But when I ma trying to transport I am getting eroors in transport but still The cube got migrated in active form.But the update rules are not getting transported.They show me an error Error when activating update rule 3CFLSNV4LN26C1URF15PR6XSA ". This is very urgent for me.

How to get the PSA name in a Start Routine in the Update Rules of a Cube.

I have an InfoSource that loads data directly in an Infocube.
In the Start Routine of the Update Rules I need to retrieve the PSA table name for that InfoSource, to access it and check some data.
I can't use the PSA name you seen in the DataFlow because it will change once the update rules are transported to another system.
Please advice.

we do it as follows:
first get the request ID:
DATA: tp_request(30) VALUE 'REQUEST'.
FIELD-SYMBOLS: <wa> TYPE ANY, <tp_req> TYPE ANY, <tp_dtp> TYPE ANY.
READ TABLE datapak ASSIGNING <wa> INDEX 1.
IF sy-subrc <> 0. ABORT = 4. ENDIF.
ASSIGN COMPONENT tp_request OF STRUCTURE <wa> TO <tp_req>.
IF sy-subrc <> 0. ABORT = 4. ENDIF.
requnr = <tp_req>.
then we get the table with
SELECT odsname_tech FROM rstsodspart WHERE request = requnr.
you may need to adjust this code, I've just pasted the relevant parts...
another way is to get this info from RSTSODS where the different versions are maintained...
let me know if you need further detail about this stuff...
