Update Rules gets inactive automatically

Hello All,
After the transport of the Update rules with the related objects to the not modifiable system, everything works fine for some time. But after sometime many update rules gets inactive automatically. We hav'nt changed the Info provider or transported any thing.
We are in BI 7.0.Can any one help me to analyse this issue.

Hi,
This problem may ocurs due to dependecies on the objects that you transported, any way you can activate them using the below Program,
Go to SE38
Run the program : RSAU_UPDR_REACTIVATE_ALL
Give the necessary details and execute the Program.

i have added another dimension 0mat_unit to the existing infocube of multiprovider to create a report.
As i added new dimensions underlying update rules became inactive and when i try to activate them iam getting message IC=xxxx IS=yyyy error when checking the update rules.
can you please give ur advice to solve the problem

Hi,
When you add some new objects to your cube then you have to add them in your info source and data source in order to get correct data and if you dont want to populate data to them from source then you can have your own rules like routines and formulas so please add them to comm structure and transfer structure and map the rules and then try to activate them it will work,

Firewall rules getting set automatically

When my users try to access the firewall tab of the Sharing preference pane, they get the "Other firewall software is running on your computer" error. There is no other firewall software running and i've tried the 'ipfw flush' solution. This works temporarily, but as soon as I restart the computer, this rule keeps popping up when I run 'ipfw list':
00001 allow udp from any 626 to any dst-port 626
Is there some software that automatically adds this rule to the firewall? Xsan? Remote Desktop?

G5s Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It seems to be this entry that's causing the OS X firewall to think there's other firewall software managing settings and won't allow me to manage the firewall through the PreferencePane.
Is there a way to stop it from being added or a workaround so we can manage firewall settings via the GUI?

Update rules deactivating

Hello All,
In the my productive BW system, a set of update rules became inactive. They were active one day - inactive the next. The system is closed, and no transports moved. No one opened the system. When I double-click on the update rules, it says the rules were modified by 'IMPACT' (what I usually see when I change a data target), at a certain time in the morning - and that - sure enough - they were deactivated due to a change in the data target.
To fix the problem, I had my Basis team open the system and I reactivated manually. There no issues here - the rules just reactivated. Further, the rules from the supposedly changed data target were active - meaning the data target did not, in fact, change. I am on BW 3.5, SP 20.
1. Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else?
2. Does anyone have an explanation for how this could occur?
3. Is there a log that either I or Basis could go to to try and see what happened?
4. Does anyone have any advice about what else I can try to do to diagnose this issue?

Hi,
There are circumstances where your IPs fails with error " Inactive update rules "
Like,
Suppose a load was running and u cancelled it but the processing of packets is progressing.
In the mean while if you repeat the same IP, then we will be getting this error as "Inactive update rules". This is because your update rules are being used by its previous load.
To avoid this, you have to wait till the processing of old load is over. After that if you repeat, It will become successful.
At any point of time same update rules cannot be used in parallel.

Update rule activation......

Hi,
I have added one of the fileds in ODS. This ODS gets data from 6 ODS.
All the update rules got deactivated.
Any reason why?
what we have to do ?
Will all the activation of all the update rules need to get transported again?

Hi,
BW don't know if/how this field should be updated from 1 or several of the 6 ODS'es. Therefore the update rules are inactive and you have to activate them AND updatethe new field if you want or set it to initial if you don't want to update it.
And yes, you should then transport this.

Procedure
Check the proposal for the update rules: Newly added key figures or characteristics are updated directly using the source-InfoObject from the InfoSource if the InfoSource contains these InfoObjects. Otherwise, the calculation type is set to 'Routine'. Newly added key figures, data fields, or attributes are set to 'No Update'.
The rules for key figures and for characteristics must be checked and adjusted appropriately.

If you collect your transport in a big lump of a single transport, the tranport connection may not organize it in the order of the proper dependency, so it is best to split it to separate transports as stated above to ensure the proper dependencies.
To fix the issue right now, you can either
1) take another transport through of only the updated / activated update rule or
2) if you know what you are doing and if the client is okay with it, open the system, activate the update rule and when prompted for a transport, create a new one and go to SE10 to clean up that repair transport by deleting the subtasks.
I would probably recommend option 1 for you. I only do option 2 if it is an emergency and there is no transport window for another week or longer or it just simply cannot wait.

Error when activating update rule after transporting to QA

Hi,
When we transport Info cubes and update rules along with Process chains. There are the following errors in Transport request(XXXXXXXX).
1. Error when activating update rule 22HSFD3ZMALU46LS0R8PRF2MW
IC=ZSDPCXY2 IS=2LIS_11_VAITM error when checking the update rules
2. Error when activating update rule 7NT4WIDPDCN2ERFDRXIGH95PM
IC=ZSDPCXY2 IS=2LIS_12_VCHDR error when checking the update rules
and etc.
Then we activated and saved all the erroneous update rules in another tranport request(YYYYYYYY) and again we transported alongwith the previous transport request(XXXXXXXX).
The last request(YYYYYYYY)was successfully tranported and still there are same errors in TR(XXXXXXXX).
Quick answers will be highly appreciated.

Hi Vijay,
Next time you would have transport only (YYYYYYYY). Transport Request (XXXXXXX) was not required to be moved.
Normally Update Rule gets deactivated in QA when any changes to the CUbe/ODS are moved.
Thus either you can transport transport request for only active update rule to QA or activate your UR directly in QA system in case you have authorization to do that.

no update and i have no option to change it ,

Hi Rakesh,
select "source chracteristics" radio button and MAP the date field which you have in your infosource though the color will be gray after selecting the radio button but system will allow you to map that field (I mean do not care about gray color).

In Update Rules, in Time Ref tab, we can specify the source field e.g. posting date, to get the calendar Year/Week time characteristics. My question is where does the update rule get the week basing on the source date?
This question is brought up to me because week days can be different from country to country. e.g. in US it is sunday to saturday and in Norway it is Monday to sunday. If we do reporting that consolidates data from US and Norway and probably and use week as part of that report, then we have an issue.
Can you please let me know how then the update rules mapped the date to week. If you have similar issues, can you please let me know how you address it?

Activate Update Rules from Business Content

Hello,
I am trying to install 0QM_C10 from business content. Every thing works fine except there are no update rules (there are 3 info sources for this cube). I am new to this and it doesn't make sense for me to manually create (ofcourse the system does the proposal) update rules. Since that is lot of work. I was expecting some transaction / tool where I can activate the update rules from the Business Content (since I can see the update rules in the business content under "Display Description". Is there any tool like that?
Or, am I doing some thing wrong so the update rules are not automatically installed from the business content along with Cube and info sources?
Note: I did separate installation for cubes as well as info sources from business content using Grouping by "Only necessary objects" option.

Formula in Update rule(Urgent)

Dear Gurus,
Iam written Formula in update rule
Get source system type is SUBSTRING( Source System, 2, 1 )
And Get Client Formula is RIGHT( Source System, 3 )
Above formula syntax is correct.
But when iam loading data getting below error.
Formula in InfoObject /BIC/CLIENT : The argument 'R3DCLNT240' cannot be interpreted as.
In Help node it is showing below message.
This is a specific error message of processing from the handling of incorrect data data records. It enables the jump into the error requests or the PSA maintenance, depending on whether the generation of an error request was desired, and whether or not it was possible.
How to solve this problem?What does it mean?

Instead of using Formula why don't u try with Constant in Update rules for R3DCLNT240.

Urgent....Transported Update rules active version but still not active....

Hi Gurus,
i have changed a datasource and an ODSA
and this ODSA which also acts as a datamart to ODSB
so i have transported, transfer rules, transfer structure, infosource, update rules of ODSA and also the
update rules of ODSB as well
And before realsing the request into quality i have replicated the datasource from R/3 as well and then realsed this request to Quality everything is active like transfer rules, infosource, transfer structure
ODSA update rules
But the ODSB update rules are not active kindly tell how to make them active.
so again i have regenerated the export datasource and then again i transported only update rules of
ODSB.
but still the update rules are inactive, kindly someone guide me how to make them active
as i have to send this to production which is having 4 years of historical data so please kindly
help me.

Update rules not active

Actually i installed the 0CDS_C01 AND ,0CDS_C02( Sales Scheduling agreement Processing).when i'm activating the update rules its giving error message like
"IC=0CDS_C02 IS=80CDS_DS07 error when checking the update rules".
whts reason for this? its urgent...

so go to object type and select the update rule with before collection and then
activate the same

0PS_C02 update rules are not getting activated when i install 4rm BI conten

In BI Dev. sys for PS module- Project System - Dates 0PS_C02 cube- update rules are not getting activated when i install from the business content and its giving the error " IC=0PS_C02 IS=0PS_DAT_PRJ error when checking the update rules Message no. RSAU461" .
I deleted the inactive update rules(6 nos) and installed again from BI Content, then the same issue raising.
Can anyone help me out as i stuck up with this to move to go-live.

Hi Vassu,
here are some of the reasons for getting error in update rules activation.
1. Check the formula or routines that are used in Update rules and check is there any syntax errors.
2. check whether the mappings are correct or not.
3. check the info objects which ur used for mapping are in active or not..
(or) if the info object may be deleted which ur using for mappings.
