Update stock in MD04

How the stock gets updates in MD04?Where is the inter link between the sales order and MD04?
Can some give a brief explation about this....

There are 2 controls that update the requirements in MD04. The 1st is the "Availability Check" field in Sales:General/Plant view of material master (MM02 T.Code). Here there are 2 options. Individual requirements and Collective requirements. If it is individual requirement, then the requirements in MD04 will be generated individually for every order, line item and Schedule line. But if it is collective requirement, then it will generate collectively based on criteria such as Plant, Str. Loc., Batch, Requirement class, etc. which can be created on a daily or weekly basis.
The second is Transfer of Requirements (TOR) that is triggered based on Strategy group maintained in MRP view of material master (If standard settings are not changed). In TOR you specify if it is MTO or MTS scenario. If it is MTO scenario whatever you maintain in Availability check will be ignored and always Individual requirements would be triggered.
I guess this will help you understand quiet a bit. Let me know if you have any specific query.

Hi Laura
No, it's not possible on standard. On OPPI you can choose if blocked stock will be available or not to MRP. However, if you choose that it's availabe, it will be included on the total stock available for planning.
I can suggest you some workarounds:
1 - Use a storage location excluded from MRP and move the blocked stock to this storage location. The quantity on this storage location will be displayed on a separated line and will not be considered by MRP.
2 - Develop your own logic using BAdIs MD_CHANGE_MRP_DATA and MD_ADD_ELEMENTS.

Since updating to Firefox 4, my MSN home page no longer displays hotmail emails or my stock informtion. I have to click on hotmail or stocks to open another window to see if I have email or updated stock values. Why is this happening?

I recently updated to Firefox 4. Now my Norton password protection does not work; My hotmail view on my MSN home page does not work; and my stock updates to not work. I have to click on "hotmail" to see if I have new e-mails and click on "stock quotes" to see updated stock values. Prior to the "upgrade", my new emails could be viewed on my MSN homepage as well as my stock prices. Does anyone know why this is occurring?

I was able to fix the issue here. Steps Taken: From the comand line I ran
dscl /Search read /Users/jdoe HomeDirectory
It returned # No such key: HomeDirectory
This was the big clue.... it should have returned
HomeDirectory: <home_dir><url>afp://files.hihllc.lan/Users/jdoe</url><path>/</path></home_dir>
I unbound the Mac from AD and ran the following command in terminal.
dscacheutil -flushcache
I then went into OS X sharing preferences and renamed the computer slightly, so it would create a new computer record in AD. I rebound the machine to AD making sure in Directory Utility Advanced, under User Experience that Force local home directory on start up disk was unchecked and Network protocol to be used was AFP.
I then ran
dscl /Search read /Users/jdoe HomeDirectory
and it returned
HomeDirectory: <home_dir><url>afp://files.hihllc.lan/Users/jdoe</url><path>/</path></home_dir>
I had the user reboot... which was necessary. When he logged in HomeSync fired up. He had quite a few conflicts, so I told him to select use files on this computer for all conflicts.
I checked the FileSyncAgent.logs and it was good.

Error -while updating stock in MB1C for make to order (561-E)

Hi all,
I have created a sales order with reference to quotation.
Stock is updating for Quotation number. But i stock should be updated to the sales order number.
When i am updating the stock for this sales order number, its not accepting. Its asking the preceding number.
system shows the following error,
"Account assignment cannot be carried out because of different origin no.
Message no. V1134
Diagnosis
The sales document to which you want to refer is based on sales document 10000001 and item 000010. Therefore, the settlement and possibly inventory management are carried out using the number of the preceding document.
System Response
This entry is not allowed.
Procedure
Enter the document and the item number of the preceding sales document."

Customer consignment stock in MD04

Is it possible to include "Customer Consignment stock" in to MD04 "Available stock" ?

Customer consignment stocks are basically not taken into account or
planned in material requirements planning.
Sales orders for the special stock 'Consignment at Customer'
(technically: SOBKZ 'V' or 'W') are not taken into account in the
material requirements planning either.
Material requirements planning in this case assumes that these
quantities are located at the customer site and should then no longer be
available for (any) requirements at the plant of the distributor.
For the same reason, the corresponding orders (technically: VBBE
records) are not taken into account in the material requirements
planning.
You can refer to SAP Note 301681 for more information.

Removing access to Stock Requirements - MD04

Hello, we are changing our business process at some of our locations and we would like to remove access to the Stock Requirements screen (MD04). This transaction is in almost all of our roles, and I am trying to avoid going role-by-role to remove this access. Is there a way that I can restrict access to MD04 without going role by role?
I thought I could use RSCSAUTH to assign an authorization group to the transaction, but the SAPMM61R program does not come up in that transaction. Can I use RSCSAUTH for this?

Hi,
As a temporary solution you can lock transaction u201CMD04u201D via SM01 which will lock the transaction for use and you can then do the role by role modifications.
Also you can take help of ABAP to develop a BDC to modify the menu and u201CS_Tcodeu201D auth. Object of each role you want to modify which is not a very standard solution.

How do I update stocks widget?

Every time I try to add a stock I get a message saying "failed to validate symbol". I am trying to add well known stocks from a published list such as DJI? Why am I getting that message and how do I update my list?

Stock in MD04 is also considering Blocked stock with Unrestricted Use

Hi PP Gurus,
In MD04, the stock which the system is showing also considers Blocked Stock for Planning means stock= Unrestricted Use Stock + Blocked Stock.
We Dont want blocked stcok to be considered.
We are using 01 availabilty check with PP checking rule.
In OPPJ, the check box for Stock-Include Safety Stock is only Checked.
Can anyone Please explain why the system is considering blocked stock for Planning???

Pls check in OPPQ - Available stock tab - Blocked stock would have been activated and hence the system is considering the Blocked stock also.
This indicator when activated causes blocked stock to be included in the MRP calculation.
The indicator you enable in OPPJ will come into effect only when you carry out an avilability check.

FHMI is updating stock quantity when GR to PO (F)

Dear gurus,
in our system, if i do GR to PO with account assignment N to a material (material type FHMI), it is not updating the stock quantity.
if i do GR to PO with act.assignment F to the same material, it's updating the stock quantity!
the settings for the act.assignment F and N is the same (consumption posting V)
FHMI is quantity updating.
could you show me some clue on why this is the case?

Yes, unfortunately, the need for the storage location in this case is hard-coded in the system and I would advise you not to change it:
This depends on a System Table: T156SY: There is a field in this table (XLORT) which states whether the Storage Location is mandatory in a posting or not.
When you post to a material which makes quantity update (MENGU = X) and value update (WERTU =X) with no special stock (SOBKZ = empty), reference to a purchase order (KZBEW = B) and this purchase order is not a stock transport order (KZZUG = empty), you see the following table entries in this table:
(Note: Sorry for the wrong format!!!! but I did not manage to align the table entries here, please, check in your system the right display of the table T156SY with SE16):

So, as you see here, the storage location is not needed when you update the consumption (KZVBR = A or V). The storage location is only mandatory when the consumption is not updated.
If, you make the same posting but the material is not valuated (WERTU equals space), you find the following entries:

101                    X                       B                      V         WE06     ME01   X
So, when the material is not valuated, the system requieres the storage location as mandatory entry (XLORT = X).
The program checks the contents of XLORT, and if the storage location is mandatory and it has not been entered, then sends the error message M7 018. Once the storage location is specified in the posting, the stock is updated in the corresponding table. The consumption is not increased this time.
As mentioned previously, this table T156SY is a system table, so I deeply recommend not to make any change at all in any of the fields of this table. This setting cannot be customized either, and no user exit or BAdI will modify this standard system behavior.
In answer to your second question, if you decide to make your material as no quantity update also, then, as you say, there will be no way in the system to force it to update the quantity later.

GR for Production Order, not updating Stock

Issue:
I am posting a GR for a production order, but the stock qty is not getting updated. I checked in MB51, i find the document being posted, but in MMBE the stock is not updated. In the system, there is 2 settlement profiles, one which allows settlement on material & the other only on G/L or Cost Center. I find this issue only when i create orders which have settlement receivers as G/L or Cost Center, also in MB51 i find that the sloc field is blank, even though it is maintained in the order & the same is seen when i receive via MB31.
Await your inputs as to where i need to check to resolve this issue.

I believe your pointing in the right direction. My suspicion is on similar lines.
A brief backdrop:
Order is created, whose settlement is to be done on a G/L acct, the settlement profile does not allow settlement onto material & hence in the GR tab, the GR non-valuated indicator is ticked. I manually ticked the GR indicator to post GR via MB31.
In MB51 i find the material document, but what is interesting is, the storage location field is blank, even though the order contains this value, which was later seen during MB31 posting as well.
But a similar order has been created in the legacy system with the same parameters as above & i find the stock to be updated.
So i suspect, it is something to do with the account determination, which is not allowing the quantity updation to take place, because of the GR non-valuated tick in the order header.

Deleted delivries reserving stock in MD04

Hi,
We have an issue where delivery documnet is created and before PGi it is deleted . Once it is deleted system is removing from MD04 but still stock is reserved . System runs avaiabilty and promises but into delivery no stock is copied because the stock is already assigend to deleted delivery.
Please help how to get the stock back.

Once you delete the delivery, the sales order will become open. But the schedule line category throws the requirement, the same can be seen in MD04. To refresh the requirement in MD04, assign Reason for Rejection in sale order and save. Again in MD04, refresh and see whether your problem is solved.
Still if the issue is not resolved, run the correction report SDRQCR21

Mrp run and seeing the stock in md04 with green traffic light showing green

Hi,
i am running a mto scenario in which sale order is created and mrp run is done and i checked the stock md04 of a finished product in that the rawmaterials and semifinshed products are showing the traffic light green light of show overview tree in md04 when it is first time created there is no stock of the rawmaterial and semfinished product.
with out any stock why it is showing the traffic light green and what is the procedure to show the light red when stock is not there.
rawmaterial is of consumable like paint in which it is not supporting in the bom and it is giving the message it is of process material can any body pls help me how paint is created as a consumable in bom creation.

Hi muralidhar,
MRP is a planning tool, not an availability check one.
It means that you are getting a green light even though there's no stock because the lead time to procure is shorter than the requirement date.
Regarding consumables, I'm not sure what you include in that, but you can either define them as non stock items in the BOM (in which case they will be specifically purchased for the production order), or maybe you meant that these materials are planned using consumption based planning; in this case they are defined normally as a stock item in the BOM, the difference being that they are not exploded in MRP, and the requirements are not triggered by the higher level.
