Update the photo

Is there a way to update a photo after modifying in Photoshop?
If I click on the photo, the updated photo comes in but the preview in the album is still the old image.

Do you have iPhoto's preferences set to use PS as the editor of choice when you double click on a thumbnail? If not then you probably accessed the files from PS, essentially going thru the Finder to find and open it. That will not let iPhoto know it's been edited and is tantamount to the cardinal sin of iPhoto: Don't tamper with files in the iPhoto Library folder from the Finder.
The way you should use PS with iPhoto is to set it up thru iPhoto's preferences. Then when you double click on a thumbnail it will open in PS. The one caveat to that process is if you create a layered image file or do any edit that requires a change of format to psd, you must either flatten the image and save as a jpg with the same file name in the same location OR do a Save As to the desktop and import that new file into iPhoto. Those are the only ways iPhoto will recognize the edit and update the thumbnail.

Not sure what you are trying to do, but the photo is just cached. You might try restarting ATV and see if that will foruce a cache relaod.
What is it you did? Did you update an image, cover art, photo stream? It could also be that what ever you updated it not what is being displayed. For instacne if you updated something in iPhoto, but are pointing to Photostream that will not have an effect. Same problme if you are looking at cover art while the music is playing.

the first one can be resolved by following the steps in article TS3221 which you can search for in the upper-right corner of this page
the second one is caused by security software on your computer blocking the pc's communication with the apple update server. make sure you turn that stuff off or uninstall it if that doesn't work. also turn off your firewall
to be honest, i'm pretty sure that all the instances of error 11 i've heard of have been related to jailbreaking software on the computer or the phone

Updating the photo count for multiple locations of the same keyword

Is it possible to use a keyword on a photo but have it update other copies of the same keyword in lightroom 2.4? I would like to have linked keywords if this is possible.
To help understand this better, here is a rough example or what I would like to do.
I want a generic list of players which in its entirety will contain thousands of names. Then I also want to break those players down into their respective teams/leagues that they played on. This will make the list of players easier to manage when I only have to deal with one team at a time. I also want to seperate by seasons but that is too much for this example. So in my example I have a player who has played in both the AHL and NHL (Daniel Briere).
Now when I am going through my Flyers photos, I want to keyword a Briere photo. So I drag over the NHL/Philadelphia Flyers/Briere, Daniel keyword. So this gives that keyword a count of 1. I also would like the Briere keyword under Players get updated with a 1. Right now, it won't. How can I link those two? Also, when I go into my Phantoms photos, I see another picture of Briere, I would want to drag over the Teams/AHL/Philadelphia Phantoms/ Briere, Daniel keyword. This would in return update that keyword with a count of 1 and update the Players/Briere, Daniel keyword with a 2 since I now have a single NHL and a single AHL photo of him. Of course I need this behavior to be hierarchial. So if I have a photo of Briere in street clothes, I would want to use the Players/Briere, Daniel keyword. This would then give me a count of 3 but it won't updated the values in NHL and AHL keywords since the Players keyword is in a higher/different location.
Can this be done?

You cannot link keywords as you want. Each of those keywords is independent - they just share the same text.
You can create smart collections which group all occurrences of that name. This is obviously duplication, so you would do it only when you need.
I suggest you don't try to get too clever with using your keyword hierarchy to represent teams. Instead, use one keyword per individual person, a separate one for each team.You could have a top level keyword teams, and another for people, but don't structure things as you suggest as it leads to confusion about people. When you need to look at one team, use a smart collection that looks for images with Team X, Shot in year Y - the Library Filter will then break the items down by keyword.

HT5622 I have issues with my iphone putting all my photos in the photo stream and an issue with my icloud on my PC updating the photo s stream.

Some of the photo I take with my iphone will not get saved into my photo stream. Some of these photos were taken while the iphone was connected to the wifi, but did not get saved. Other photos were while not on wifi and they seem to get saved. I have not narrowed down what is the difference between those photos that get saved and those that don't get saved. Is there a way to force a photo to get saved? I would like to be able to access these photos from all my devices.
I also have an issue with the photo stream on my PC getting updated. I have photos in the photo stream that is updated on my Ipad and iphone. However, these photos are not getting updated on the PC. Everything seems to be set up on the icloud and photos stream for the PC.

That is the way it is designed to work. If you want the photos on your Mac on your new iPhone, you can sync them with iTunes.

Iphoto update "The photo "X" could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found."

Updating iphoto and get the Alert "The photo “X” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found." Which is because I have archived thousands of photos offline. I can't go through the entire list one by one hitting the "cancel" button, but iPhoto apparently won't update unless this is done. Is there a way to skip this step? I can't run iPhoto at all with the alert live.

Do you have a referenced library (The iPhoto advanced preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library" has been unchecked) which is strongly NOT recommended.
If so then your only choice is to restore the originals back to the exact path they had when you imported them or to rebuild your library using iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ - without them

If you edit photos in iPhoto, will Photo Stream (iCloud) update the photos on your other devices?

Am I dreaming or will Photo Stream (iCloud) update photos on my Macbook when I edit them (enhance, crop, rotate, etc) on my iMac (automatically or otherwise)? If so, do I need to do anything besides the basic Photo Stream setup to make this happen? The movie on Apple's site about iCloud seems to imply this is true, but it's vague. I'm unable to find anything about this in the small amount of Help articles about iCloud. Thanks for any help.

How do I update the photos in Photos to Share on my Apple TV?

I recently upload a number of photos to my Apple TV (version 2), and would like to add more pictures. The pictures are currently in a folder called My Photos and I was hoping that they would automatically show up on my Apple TV, when I added them to the folder. I am using Windows XP, and I do have the Home Sharing function turned on. Any help will be appreciated.

As a workaround I think I'd try to choose a different folder maybe with a couple of images, then change the setting back to My Pictures.

hi, i took tons of pics on my ipod touch and the last couple of months i didnt update the photos using the icloud due to missing icloud space and forgot to actually purchase for more space . Now my ipod got stolen and wondering if there is anything the pics could be restored somehow? any help is greatly appreciated

If they aren't backed up to iCloud or iTunes, and you didn't import them to your computer, there's no way to get them back.

The photos are going insane after the 9.18 Raw Camera update!

I use Sony a700, and after the latest RawCamera update, the photos are going weird.
the color are totally changed, and it couldn't be tuned to normal. seem the new parameters(maybe there are) make the photos totally out of range.
and jpeg format is not influenced only the ARW format.
It seems to the parameters of the camera Raw Algo was mistaken.

Don't panic. There are some who've found a solution!
What you'll need to do is "Downgrade" back to RAW Update 2.1.

Iphoto updating the thumbnail cache

I recently installed ilife 06 and I had just moved all my photos over to my recently purchased power mac, and when I opened up iphoto it said it needed to update the thumbnail cache or something like that. Now when I open a photo even outside of iphoto all the images are much smaller in pixel size. Before I did the cache update the photos were very clear in full screen now they are blury. Also I used to have raw images before the update and now they aren't marked as raw anymore. Is it possible to change this or are the images going to be stuck small? Also i do have a power book g4 with the same photos on it and it never asked to update the cache.

I copied the files over the network from the iphoto folder on my old computer.
The correct way to do that is to copy the entire iPhoto Library Folder as a unit to the new machine, then let iPhoto update it.
Have a look inside your iPhoto Library Folder - in there you should have three main folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
Check inside the Originals folder. You'll find it contains Roll Folders and your pics should be inside them Try open some with Preview - are they full sized pics? What file sizes are reported in the Finder?

When I updated my iPod it's deleted some apps and all my photos and videos. Does anyone have any idea how to get them back? No so much the apps but mainly the photos? I backed my iPod up before I did it and it's still deleted?

When I save an image on my ipod touch 3rd gen then go to the photos, the library updates/rebuilds, then I cannot view the picture as it just comes up as a picture of a grey camera that says JPG. It never used to do this, how do I fix it?

I go to save a picture (bu holding my finger down on the image, then pressing save image, when the option comes up), and then go to the photos to view the picture, its says updating library and takes about a minute to finish loading and rebuilding/updating the library. After it has finished updating the library I cannot view the picture I saved because it comes up as a picture of a grey camera that says JPG (I assume this is some sort of file, because if i save multiple pictures only one JPG, gery camera image shows up.)
