Update timestamp from Version to Master

Hi.  I just realized that I never changed my primary camera's time stamp to DST in November.  Every Image recorded by that camera is off by 1 hour.  (This is not helpful when you are trying to organize Images by solar time.)
To fix this, I selected all Images taken by that camera since the start of DST (11/6/11), and using "Metadata→Adjust Date and Time" I rolled the time back one hour, and checked "Also change Master files".  Four hours later, the operation was done ... with a long list of files that were not changed because they were off-line.  (This list was in a small dialog box.  I could do nothing with the list.)
So I added the additional filter "Off-line", and created an album of the 874 Images that had their time corrected, but not their Masters.
Is there any way, once these Masters are on-line, to correct the time of the Masters?
I considered using "Write IPTC metadata to Masters", but the time is (afaik) in the EXIF and not in the IPTC data set.
I suppose I could push the time back one more hour for all of these, including their Masters, and then pull it forward one hour, not including their Masters, but that is prone to user error -- and this user is _especially_ prone to binary reversals (were we to travel together by car, you would want me to navigate while you steered ).
Thanks in advance.

Hello Kirby,
I suppose I could push the time back one more hour for all of these, including their Masters, and then pull it forward one hour, not including their Masters,
That is what I have been doing, to correct the master files, after "apply to master file" was possible again.
But I think you can do it less complicated - it should suffice to adjust the time of the versions by one second - with "Apply to masters" enabled. The masters will be tagged with exactly the same time as the versions, not incrementally adjusted to their old time -afaik.
You may change the second back, if your clocks are very exact, but I usually do not bother to do that ...
Cheers
Léonie

Can I update iPhoto from version 8.1.2 to 9 or higher versionfor free?

Is your profile signature "Mac OS X (10.6.8)" still current? With that MacOS X version you can upgrade to iPhoto 9.2.x. Only, the iPhoto version 9.5.1 currently sold at the AppStore requires MacOS X 10.9.x. If you you are not running Mavericks, you could try to buy a boxed retail version of iLife '11. That will have a compatible early iPhoto 9.x version.

  • I was updating Firefox from version 6 to version 7, after updating I tried to open Firefox and the message I got is this: This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found. How can I fix this?

I was updating Firefox to the newest version 7.0.1 from version 6.0.2 I think it was, I clicked the restart Firefox button that always comes up after updating. It started updating and then Firefox never restarted like it was supposed to after it was done updating. I then tried to open Firefox and it told me "This application has failed to start because xul.dll was not found." I did have Firefox crash on maybe about 30 minutes or so earlier which bothered me because I have been using Firefox for years and never had it crash on me before but I didn't think much of it at the time it happened because I was able to go back onto Firefox and finish what I had been working on. A while later I checked for updates and updated. The first time I tried to update it didn't work though so I had to shutdown Firefox and reopen Firefox and start the update a second time. It was after the second time that when I tried to open Firefox I got that message about failing to start because xul.dll can't be found. I filed a crash report when my Firefox crashed. This would have been around 1am-2am in the morning that Firefox first crashed and then wouldn't allow me to open it after updating. I have a DELL laptop running the Windows XP operating system but the laptop is probably at least 6 or 7 years old. The laptop will no longer charge so I always have to have it plugged into an outlet. Both my laptop hard drive and my external hard drive give me messages that I am running out of disk space on my hard drive. I bought this laptop 6 or 7 years ago second hand so it could be even older. In short it's a piece of crap and it gives me all kinds of issues but I currently can't afford a new one, but I have never had any problems with Firefox and I use Firefox more than any other aspect of my laptop so it's really really bothering me. May you please help me fix it?

Unfortunately I tried that and it didn't work. Thanks for the help though. I tried to uninstall and it said I couldn't because the file is corrupt or something, but I think I finally got it uninstalled and/or deleted or whatever, but now I try to reinstall/download it again from the beginning and I can't. No matter what I do I can not get Firefox working again. No matter how many times I try to redownload it. Any other suggestions?

How do I update from safari 5.1

What version of OS X are you using ?
If it's 10.6.8 Snow Leopard : Safari 5.1.10 is the latest available.
Lion & Mountain Lion : Safari 6.1.1 should be available from software update, if you don't already have it.

  • Can't update Aperture from version 3.4.5 to 3.5 without paying full price.

I read about the new Aperture update to version 3.5 but it does not appear in regular software updates. When I found it in the App Store it is listed at $79.99. I already own Aperture and currently have version 3.4.5. I understood this to be a free update.

It is a free update, most users are getting it without a problem however some users seem to be having difficulty.
First thing the update is only for system running Mavericks. HA=ave you upgraded the OS yet?
If you have is Aperture installed in the systems Applications folder and named Aperture. These two points are important for Software Update to do its thing.
Have you tun Software Update and update from the Mac App Store. In my case it did not show up in the App Store until I had updated from 3.4.5 to 3.5.
Some users have had success getting the upgrade by uninstalling Aperture, reinstalling from their original media and then running Software Update. Remember if you try this you will need your serial numbers for Aperture so make sure you have them before trying it.

  • Software update not updating iweb from version 1.0 to version 1.01

I have an ibook G4 running 10.3.9 and recently updated from ilife 05 to ilife 06. Last night Software Update contained a whole slew of updates. I succesfully ran through them all (Garageband, QT, IDVD, Security etc) - apart from Iweb. Iweb downloaded but didn't update to the new version. Software Update prompted again and I downloaded again but still no joy. Iweb remains firmly stuck at version 1.0 and Software Update is asking me to download again.
    Anyone else experience this?
    ibook 1,2 ghz G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Hi QuickTimeKirk.
    Thanks for that.
I downloaded from the link and initially it wouldn't install. I got a message saying something like: "This software can't be installed on this computer".
I tried a second time (from the dmg file) and it did eventually install. Either my laptop has a problem or the v1.01 installer is a bit buggy and hit and miss (particular to OSX10.3.9?). I downloaded twice through software update and it's taken two attempts via the http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/iweb101.html link for the update to succesfully install.

  • Cannot update software from version 1.0 after factory reset

Just did a factory reset on my first generation, year old, perfectly working AppleTV. Then wanted to update the software from ver. 1.0 to current. For two day now, when choosing "update software' the response is that newer software is available but the download spins and spins with nothing happening. Seems like the network connection must be good or there wouldn't be knowledge that newer version exist. Eventually a message states that the software is not available now try late. As I said, I have been trying for 2 days. What's up with this?

Self-repaired! It was appear that the quality of reception of the ATV is problem because it cannot hold a connection long enough to download the software. I took an 11n airport express which extends my airport network and plugged the ATV to in by Ethernet. Result. ATV showed up on iTunes. Upgrade to 2.2 downloaded. And since I only stream, the system seems faster and more solid, so far. Amazing.

  • Update numbers from version 2.1, App Store shows no update

    Hi!
I have numbers '09 version 2.1 installed on my macbook. Now I would like to get an update in order to use it within the icloud. I tried to buy it using the MacAppStore, but I alway get the message : You habe numbers installed, use the Update in the MacAppStore. But there are no possibilities shown to update the program.
Any Ideas what can be done.
    Thanks!

    H,
Have you run "Software Update" from the Apple menu? It would be quite odd for the Mac App Store to find your copy of Numbers and for Software Update not to find it. Software Update should download the update itself or invoke the updater in the Mac App Store. One way or the other, the program should update to version 2.2 and the update should be free.

  • Trying to update iPhoto from version 2, missing versions on Apple site

I am trying to move up to the most current version of iPhoto that I am allowed. You can see the versions of the related software that is dependent for this update in my details.
The earlist version that can find is 4.0.3 but when I download this and try to install it, the installation fails and I am warned that the install cannot find either version 4.0 or 4.0.1 of iPhoto.
There are apparently no versions below version 4.0.3 so I am stuck despite the fact that I am owed versions up to 5 or 6.
Any help would be greatly appreciatted.

Garrett: Apple does not pretend that iLife is free, nor is it included when you buy an Apple operating system. iLife is included with the purchase of some new Macs, but any subsequent upgrades must be paid for, just as upgrades to any other commercial software must be paid for. (I received the full version of Photoshop 2.5 bundled with a $1200 scanner about 12 years ago, but you'd better believe Adobe doesn't think that entitles me to free upgrades of Photoshop for life.)
You apparently got iPhoto 2 free, no strings attached. Apple isn't forcing you to upgrade it. It's not a professional tool, and never pretended to be one. There are equal or better alternatives available quite inexpensively for many of the purposes that iPhoto serves. The same is true of iCal and the Address Book. People who like iLife like it because it integrates many functions well. Those who don't care about that integration or about some of those functions often see iLife as a bundle of less-than-professional apps in which capabilities that are of no interest inflate the cost of those that are useful. Is the glass half full or half empty? You have to decide for yourself, and it sounds as though you have. But Apple hasn't been dishonest with you: the fact that you needed to buy iPhoto 4,5, or 6 if you wanted to upgrade to 4.x, 5.x or 6.x was right there in the System Requirements for each of the updaters, and of course you are perfectly free to go on using the software you got for free without upgrading it.

  • Updating iTunes from version 9.0.3

I have recently updated my 2007 Macbook to OS X 10.6.8, and have been updating my software, but remain unable to update iTunes.  I have downloaded, and run the installer, and it says the says the software has been successfully installed, but when I open iTunes, it is still the old version.  Do I need to uninstall the old version before updating?  I didn't think this was necessary, so I am confused.
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thank you.

i believe if you upgrade to 10.4.11 (use the combo updater http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_4_11_Combo_Update__Intel), you will be able to install the current Safari and use the new version of iTunes.

  • Problems when updating WLC from Version 4.1 to 4.2

    Hi,
we have a Problem when upgrading a WLC 4400.
When booting the device with the 4.2 Software, there are errors in some lines like "Starting Virtual AP Services: Parse error at line 244:
    not well-formed (invalid token)"
    and the config gets deleted.
What could be the problem? Is there a possibility to save the config and view it in clear text?
    Thanks a lot and regards.

    I see a similar message while booting a WLC-4402-25 running 5.0.148.0:
    Starting Management Services:
    Parse error at line 3
    not well-formed (invalid token)
    Web Server: ok
Looking at line 3 of the XML config file reveals:
Unless line 3 refers to a line 3 of a subset of the XML config file, I'm guessing the WLC code generating the XML config file is out of sync with the WLC code interpreting the XML config file during boot, or vice versa.
In my case the config is retained on the WLC.
    Trond.

  • Why didn't you warn me that updating from version 34 to 35 would delete ALL of my saved passwords?!?

Just update Firefox from version 34 to version 35. Deleted ALL of my stored passwords. Thank you very little.
Did it on two machines. Makes me want to not use Firefox any more.

hello disgruntle, sorry about that - could you go to the firefox ''menu ≡ > help ? > troubleshooting information'', copy the contents of that page and paste them here into a reply on the forum? this might give us a clue what is going on and how to resolve things...
