iTunes update 11.0.2. (loaded automatically in the background and signaled in the App Store symbol is delivering failure 103 if I try to install it - any experience how to fix it?
Try just downloading and installing from the Support site - http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1614 - instead of the Mac App Store.

Hello All,
Here's a problem that is making me insane.
If you use dot1x authentication at your site and your users store their password in their keychain and the password changes (via helpdesk, one-time password, or whatever) the next time the client attempts to connect and the authentication fails, the supplicant in 10.4-5 doesn't offer any dialog for the user to enter a new password and update the entry in the keychain.
On 10.4: Manually clear out the keychain entry for the SSID in question.
On 10.5: The key doesn't appear in the keychain (dumb) and you have to deactivate/reactivate the interface and hope it clears out the saved password.
Does anyone know if there are any tweaks that can be done via command line for the eapolclient to work properly instead of just leaving users in the enterprise dead or confused?
--tkActually I have your book already! Thanks so much for taking the time to write it. I'm a long time Oracle DBA, but I had a hard time with JDeveloper before your book came along. I'm working through it as we speak. Congrats to all at Oracle...for all the hard work on Fusion and ADF. What incredible power in these products and your book started me off and gave me a giant head-start. Great Book!!! Thanks again, Don

I am currently using Windows Update PowerShell Module to updates several machines. I notice that on identically configured windows 2003 and windows 2008 servers some nodes do not reboot on their own and wait for a user confirmation. This keeps them from finishing their update cycle and requires manual intervention. This happens even if no user is logged on.
Is there a way to get reliable reboots upon reaching conclusion of a patch cycle? I notice that on windows 8 and windows 2012 there is additional support to force reboot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2835627/en-usBut we have a lot of older platforms (thousands) and I am frustrated that I can't determine why some nodes do not complete their patch cycle by rebooting on their own while other identically built nodes do so.
Thanks.
Gautamsome nodes do not reboot on their own and wait for a user confirmation.
This happens even if no user is logged on.
This is technologically impossible, so we need to find out what else is going on in this scenario. For starters, you'll need to show us the WindowsUpdate.log entries where this update was installed and the system restarted.

Performed the update today.....failure!!!
Well, actually I "tried" to perform the update today and now my phone is frozen. During the update the phone froze, I let it sit for a couple hours, nothing happened.
I pulled the battery, let it sit....rebooted, stuck on white HTC screen. Next I pulled the sim card along with the battery, let it sit a few minutes, rebooted again, same thing, stuck on white HTC screen.
After that, i did the "power button, volume down" boot, tried to do the factory reset, but it just freezes, I have tried everything i could think of, anyone else experience this? Also tried the "recovery" option, that didnt work either.Well after taking time off work to take my phone to a Verizon store, I found out my phone was 1 month out of warrenty, and that there was nothing Verizon could do. The "tech" who was helping me suggested I file a claim with Asurion and say the phone is physically damaged and that they would send me a new one. When I told her that my phone was bricked by a software update from Verizon, she simply just shrugged her shoulders and said that it wasn't Verizon's fault. I told her that filing an insurance claim saying that my phone was "physically" damaged when it really isn't is insurance fraud. After that, I was too p*ssed and frustrated and I left.
Called Verizon when I got to work, told the CSA on the phone what the Verizon tech. at the store said, and she said that it is insurance fraud and to disregard her "stupid" suggestion. Although I am sure the csa on the phone tried her hardest, she could not help me either. So here I was, stuck with a brand new looking phone that was bricked by a software update, and 1 month out of warranty......I wont say what i did next lol...........but it did involve a hammer. -
I have a Bold 9900 and using Blackberry Desktop Software on Mac.
How do I deal with this problem?
Thank you.I tried this method already. The problem is that there is no such thing as 'BlackBerryDesktop' but instead I just have 'BlackBerry'. And also, there are no 'Logs' either.

Application Manager - update blocked by Genuine Software validation failure
Anybody explain why that is?
Could you provide some details on how are you trying to the software. Did you download it from the Creative Cloud website via the Adobe Application Manager?
This error was reported in in past, due to a certificate revocation. That was a long time ago though, and so am not sure if thats the reason in your case. Just to be sure though, coudl you run through the instructions in the following document so that we can remove this as a probable cause. See http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/digital-certificate-revoked-aam.html
In general, this error indicates that the file may not be the exact file that was sent from the Adobe servers. The check is done to ensure that any malware has not been injected into the file by unscrouplous entities. This error could also possibly be due to a corrupt download. It may happen due a spotty or slow internet connections. If you're downloading again, use a wired connection rather than a wireless connection. -
Error while Updating "Failure configuring Windows updates - Reverting changes"
I've recently formatted my HP ENVY 15t-3200 CTO Notebook PC.
When I'm updating the PC the Error of "Failure configuring Windows updates - Reverting changes - Do not turn off your computer" triggers on screen when the PC restarts after installing the Updates.
It takes hours to revert the changes.........
Pls. help me out as I can't update my PC to Windows 8.1 from Windows 8 Pro.
I've also tried to resolve the issue by searching on the vrious websites but the issue has not been resolved yet.
ThanksHi,
Try the following.
Open an Elevated Command Prompt.
Type in ( or just copy and paste ) the following command ( including spaces ) and hit enter.
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
This will take a while to complete, but when it’s finished, restart the notebook.
Let windows fully load, then once again, open an elevated command prompt, then enter the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Restart the notebook then try upgrading to 8.1 again.

DP-K

PlayReady failure with specific OS version of Windows 8.1 Update
Hello,
I'm observing a failure in my app during Smooth Streaming video playback using PlayReady DRM. The app is a WinJS Universal App solution for Windows Store and Windows Phone, using the latest updates for Visual Studio 2013, Update 4.
So far, the failure is limited to one specific version of the Windows 8.1 Update. I have two identical devices, both retail versions of the phone, that demonstrate this issue. Note, these same phones that fail with PlayReady can successfully
stream unprotected Smooth Streaming content.
My other five Windows Phone devices, with different OS version numbers, do not demonstrate the failure with the identical app installed. Therefore, I suspect the OS version may be the cause.
Failure description:
When I attempt to stream PlayReady protected Smooth Streaming video, the player initializes the media player and the MediaProtectionManager, but then displays the error state (The video failed to play. Try again.) immediately, and the following message is
displayed in Visual Studio:
MEDIA12899: AUDIO/VIDEO: Unknown MIME type.

8.10.12397.895, untested
8.10.12400.899, NOKIA Lumia 530, streams successfully
Note, one of OS versions I've tested fails to stream the PlayReady protected Smooth Streaming content, and five other OS versions I've tested successfully stream the same video content.
Is this a known issue with a specific version(s) of Windows Phone 8.1?
Regards,
AndrewHello,
0x887A0004 equates to DXGI_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED. This error is usually generated when you are trying to use Direct3D features that are not supported. Different devices support different D3D features since they contain different video hardware. It is possible
that a hardware feature that is required by the license is not supported in the hardware / driver of the device. I would recommend that you check the license and make sure that it does not contain any hardware specific requirements such as HDCP.
In other words try playing content with the least restrictive license and see if it works for you.
I hope this helps,
James

Download failure on free purchases of Pages and OS update
I tried to download Pages, listed as free, and you automatically get the Mavericks update. After notice of "download failure" I went back to th App store and deleted the free purchases of the OS update and Pages. Now, when I go back to tha App store to try again, it shows Pages at $19.99. This is a brand new MacBook Air. How can I get the free Pages download?
Using your link, I downloaded the new version. When I dragged the Firefox icon into the applications folder, it asked if I wanted the new version to replace the existing one, and I said yes. I was then told that it couldn't be done because I had insufficient privileges for some items. Is the reason for this that I didn't trash the old version BEFORE dragging the new one into the applications folder (under the assumption that "replace" meant that the old version was trashed as the new one was installed)? If not, it appears that I am back to the same problem I've had before.
Since I'll be replacing this computer soon, it seems too troublesome to bother with this update. I'd just like the update reminders to go away! -
