Update to 10.0 failed.  iTunes does not see my iPhone.

I removed iTunes from my computer and downloaded the update, but my phone is showing that I need to connect to iTunes. Does anyone know what may have gone wrong?  Thank you!

Your profile says you are using OS X 10.6.3, which is a version of Snow Leopard.  Snow Leopard was first released nearly six years ago.
The current version of iTunes, 12.0.1, is needed to interface to an iPhone 6.  OS X 10.6.3 is too old to run this version.
So you must update/upgrade your operating system to obtain the latest version of iTunes.  The current version of OS X is 10.10.1 (Yosemite).

    I have a new Iphone 3G and am trying to sync up my Outlook Address Book, however my computer is a US Army Laptop that has the USB disabled. The XP operating system recognizes the device as a camera but ITunes does not see the Iphone. Any suggestions or am I out of luck?

    You will have to use a different computer that isn't from DoD. As you know they have disabled USB ports except for mice/keyboards because of various world wide issues, they are being very strict about this and I don't see them enabling it for an iPhone when they wouldn't let me use them for 5 minutes to get some data from an old dying machine.

    There is only one fix now. The message on the screen means that you have to restore the iOS software on the iPad now. Read the part at the very end about using recovery mode.

    I have reset my iphone and made sure all updates have been done on my macbook pro and iphone. It was after updating my macpro that I plugged in my phone and went to itunes to backup phone and can't see the device anywhere!     There is no way to consolidate iTunes accounts.
    Setting up an iPhone has never required creation of a new Apple ID.
    You've apparently purchased content with both Apple ID's.  Sign into the device with the correct Apple ID and sync the content.

    I purchased an iPod shuffle for my girlfriend. Loaded about 40 songs then repacked and gift wrapped it before giving it to her. She has iTunes on her computer and it is updated.     Are you running the most recent version of iTunes for Windows on your PC?  You may be running an older version that is incompatible with the 4s.
