Update to 10.4.6 results in unrepairable error on harddrive

Responding to the software update notice, I tried to update from 10.4.5 to 10.4.6. I got a message that the installation failed. Performance started to deteriorate to the point where I could not even get Systems Preferences. I tried a restart and only got to the gray apple and spinning gear before everything stopped. I to run a repair from Disk Utility from a installation disk, but got the message: "checking HFS Plus vol -- Invalid B-tree node size -- Volume check failed --- 1 HFS volume could not be repaired because of an error". Also an Archive and Install attempt from the installation disk failed.
I was able to boot up and access a duplicate a external firewire drive. Hence, this posting.
Can I restore the duplicate file back onto my hd and continue with my update -- or no update? Or do I have a damaged hd that needs to be repaired/replaced?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

That worked, but restoring w/ Carbon Copy Cloner was more complex and time-consuming than I anticipated. It took a few tries and changes (who would have thought that to restore using CCC you would have to make the Mac HD privacy shield from Spotlight? What is the point of Spotlight if you can't search your hd?) Anyway, I'm up and running and updated to 10.4.6. Thanks

Hi,
I got requirements to count number of people who sold the same product category in the same region.
I'm not sure if query could fullfill the following requirements or not.
<b>Example data in the ODS:</b>
for Period: 06/2005
People-A (region-M1) sold product category-C1.
People-A (region-M1) sold product category-C2.
People-B (region-M1) sold product category-C1.
People-B (region-M1) sold product category-C3.
People-C (region-M1) sold product category-C3.
People-D (region-M2) sold product category-C3.
In a report,
- user filter: Month/Year
- user filter: only one People at a time
- it should display all product categories.
I'm thinking to count number of people through an update rule and store the result directly in the ODS. I'm not quite sure whether this is a good idea or not.
Any suggestion would be sincerely appreciated.

Hi Wachira,
We usually fulfill the "counting" reqts by adding a Counter KF to the InfoProvider (supply a constant of 1 in the transfer rules). Then in the query you can use exception aggregation for calculating different Count By...this is a more flexible approach.

VoLTE update....unexpected results

I installed the update. VoLTE isnt rolling out to me until Sept 19. This update was told to me by VZW to be a prep update. Part 1 of 2. The option is not there for me in Tethering and Networks to enable VoLTE. Also the VuTalk uninstall remained and the weather app disappeared though the widget is still there and the process is running.

It's rumored by VZW that a Sept 19, 2014 update will fix the growing number of issues presented after the Sept 11, 2014 24A to 25B update. My list of issues is growing. Pop up text window auto exits before text can be entered after keyboard pops up, screen stays on, YouTube opens with screen off, proximity sensor does not allow screen to turn off during call, volume set to silent randomly reverts to lound, weather app missing (though they said the update deleted it and is not included in the update) the com.google.process.gapps has stopped error persists as does the Google Location reporting feature error where settings are reverted to "Off." I was offered a replacement G2, but was told that if I kept my present phone it would never work correctly until LG released a fix and also that the next update could cause further issues. this is my 2nd replacement G2 thus far. I did have another option though. I could take advantage of a special early upgrade promo and get anything from a Moto-X for $400 to an S5 or G3 for $500!!!!!!! This is with me having $100 deductible with Asurion at $8 a month. VZW said it was up to LG to deem the replacement of the device with a different model from a different manufacturer. I dont quite understand that, and switching carriers (out of spite or even with ETF buyouts) is just silly considering all manufacturers and carriers have issues. I had a couple small issues with my first G2. I had serious issues after the KitKat update. Now this update has further issues not resolved from previous updates, and there is still another update on the way for VoLTE, the 2nd part of the Sept 11 update due near or on Sept 19. then....LOL, another update for Android L sometime in the next 6 months!!! HT1212 I am unable to get our of a continuous cycle when trying to update or restore my iPad 2. Plug in to iTunes 12.0.1 (latest version). Click update, told can't update, have to restore. Restore fails with error 9. Any help appreciated.

Notes: I just upgraded to OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 on my iMac (27-inch, Mid 2011) in the last week. It’s the first time I’m tried to backup/update my iPad since the iMac update.
I swapped out the USB cable to a new cable and get the same results.
I also unplugged all other USB devices from the iMac and security on my iPad and still get the same results.
I find it strange that it shows no Serial number for my my iPad 2 when plugged in. It shows “Serial Number: n/a on the screen when it displays: “iPad Recovery Mode To update your iPad without erasing its contents, click Update. To restore your iPad to its factory settings, click Restore iPad.
I prefer to update my iPad, but it displays “Your iPad can’t be updated, you must restore it to factory settings. If you previously backed up the iPad, click Restore Backup after the restore process completes.”
It’s a continuous loop. I get the display on my iPad to plug in the iPad to iTunes, plug it in which ends after going through the above procedure saying an error occurred (9).
So now I cannot use my iPad. When I turn it on I get the display showing me to plug it into iTunes with the cable. Since this is the only option I have I plug it in and the loop begins.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

Creating new record in Results Table giving Error

Hi All,
On update page there is a Results Table with Add button to create a new row.
While creating a new record on Results Table gives error
Attribute set for AccessId in view object XXLCUpdVariablesVO1 failed
I have checked EO and VO attributes, everything seems to be right.
Also Updatable is set to 'Always'.
Still don't know why this error is coming up.
Plz help to resolve this error.

Error: The percentage of requests that resulted in internal errors

I am using grid control with a 10.2 database and I keep getting this error with my http server.
Currently the error says:
The percentage of requests that resulted in internal errors is 55.1%
The metrics are set as warning = 1% and critical =1.5% so obviously this is a little over what we expect.
I have done some searching and cannot find any info about this metric or the resulting error. I guess I am looking for any help in understanding what this error means and if there is a way to fix it. Any info about how this percentage is calculated would be of help as well.

I've raised an SR on this, asking for more information on the following two Oracle HTTP Server metric alerts:
The percentage of requests that resulted in failures is 69.09%
The percentage of requests that resulted in internal errors is 409.09%
I have found a reoccurring error in my apache logs:
File does not exist: /app/ora/product/EM10GR2/oms10g/Apache/Apache/htdocs/favicon.ico
This seems to be something to do with IE 5, so not sure its related.
I will keep you chaps updated with what oracle come back with.

I'm sure I will be calling AppleCare, but the problem is, they charge for the phone calls don't they? Because I don't have money to be spending to be on the phone with a support service.
In other things, it seemed like the only time my MacBook was working was when I had Snow Leopard without the 10.6.8 update download that was supposed to be done to prepare for OS X Lion.
When I look at the information of my HD it says that I have 10.6.8 but that was the install that it claimed to have failed and caused me to restart resulting in all of the repeated problems.
Also, because my computer is currently down, and I've lost all files how would that effect the use of my iPhone? Because if it doesn't get fixed by the time OS 5 is released, how would I be able to upgrade?!

I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -
