Update to Bridge CS6 not recognized as applicable

Hello friends,
I am using Windows 7 professional, 64 bit.
I am running Indesign CS6, which appears to work fine... however I'm still not able to open Bridge.
I found (and still find) Bridge CS2 to be very useful and would like to be able to use the updated version.
I have located the following update;
Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.1.1 Update (64-bit)
which I have downloaded  and opened with 7zip. I have attempted to apply this patch, but get the following screen;
I appreciate the fact that an attempt has been made to patch Bridge CS6, but this one doesn't appear to work...should I just wait for another patch to come from Adobe, or are there some installation subtleties I've missed perhaps?
I'm offering this comment mostly as feedback in case anyone else has a similar problem and can learn from it, but if there are options open to me that anyone more experienced is aware of I would be grateful to hear.
Many thanks,
lambert

Thanks for your help!
I have followed your advice and found the following error codes (for Indesign CS6);

I have been using  "cpsid_83574"  http://http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-exit-6-exit-7.html  But unfortunately I am unable to identify the neccessary folder (PSE10STIInstaller)  on my system. I may have misunderstood exactly where I need to verify my file pemissions?

  • Bridge CS6 not recognizing CR2 files

I currently use CS6.  My camera is a Canon SX50 HS which is supported and generates CR2 files.  I use macs.  Previously I was able to view the thumbnails for these files in Bridge but that has changed.  Now I can't view them when on my mac pro but can still see them on my macbook air.  I do not know what has changed or what the difference between to two are.  Everything is updated on both machines.  I am at a loss - any help would be greatly appreciated.  Oh, by the way, I have no problem seeing these files in Lightroom 5.

  • Bridge CS6 not generating correct thumbnails for RAW files

I'm running Bridge CS6 (the latest version, 5.0.2.4) on a 2013 MacBook Pro (OSX 10.9.1) and suddenly as of today Bridge is no longer updating the thumbnails for my RAW files. All other image and video file formats are having thumbnails generated but not my Nikon NEF raw files including those which I have previously worked on in ACR. I have tried purging the entire cache, restarting Bridge and even rebooting my computer and still the raw thumbnails are not being generated.
Any advice would be appreciated thank you.
    Eric
Actually I've just noticed that thumbnails for jpegs are not being generated either. A thumbnail is only generated if I work on a file in Photoshop and then save it.

Check you cache disk free space.  You should have at least 15%.  For a 700g drive that that 100g free.
Have you reset preferences?  Hold down option key and start bridge.  You will get a reset window.

  • Bridge CS6 not starring properly anymore

    Running Mavericks 10.9.2
Apple pushed out a camera raw update and ever since, Bridge CS6  has not been the same.
If I open a set of rated .CR2 raws into BR the stars don't carry over unless I manually select and apply the stars in Camera Raw.
And when I batch-save said files, the stars don't get applied to the JPEGs.
Lastly, in some albums, previously starred RAW photos no longer have their stars. But the JPEG's do
    It's really weird.
I've reset the workspace, but that didn't help.
I have 2000 photos to process and I rely on those stars to sort the photos for publishing.
    Please advise.

    I'm on ACR 8.4...
But that's when all the problems started, I tried to launch a set of photos I had starred and Bridge crashed... it's never been the same since.

  • Is there a solution to Adobe Bridge CS6 not being able to read raw files from the 5D Mk lll

I like to use Bridge as my overall file organizer.  I operate on a Mac version OSX version 10.8.3 and cannot read my raw files in bridge cs6.  Does anyone have a solution for this.
Also is Canon putting any pressure on Adobe to fix this?

Not bridge but camera raw. You'll need to update your camera RAW.
You can either do it directly in Photoshop, or you can download it here: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2011/03/keeping-photoshop-up-to-date.html
At the bottom, there is a link to download Camera Raw 7.4 for Mac and WIndows. Adobe hides there link from their main site to force people to update via Photoshop update feature.

  • Adobe Bridge CS6 Not Opening

I recently installed the trial version for Photoshop CS6.  Prior to this, I have had Photoshop CS2 installed on my computer.  Before installing CS6, I uninstalled CS2.
Now, Bridge CS6 will not launch when I click on it.  The cursor will show that it's working, but then it will stop and nothing will happen.  I did some research and found that this error occurs whenever Bridge CS2 has been previously installed.  I tried what was suggested (create an empty folder in C:\Users\[user name]\App Data\Roaming\Adobe\), but that did not work for me from this topic:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4522770
Also, my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit).
    Can anyone please help?

Do you have CS5 installed? If so Bridge is probably running in the background.  Open Task Manager and look in Processes Tab for Bridge.exe and close.

  • OS 10.2.0 Update after reinstall: "selector not recognized"

I received an iMac G3 400MHz running OS 10.2.x (I don't remember which exactly, but probably 10.2.8), but noticed that certain things were missing in Utilities, like Terminal, System Profiler, Disk Utility, etc. Ran the Software Update, which applied, as I remember, a security update. But the Utilities things were still missing, so I reinstalled the OS using an original OS 10.2 (Jaguar) installation disk set. That did an "Archive and Install", so the old OS is in "Previous System".
But now I can't apply any of the Combo Updates to 10.2: I've downloaded and tried 10.2.1, 10.2.2, 10.2.4, 10.2.6, and 10.2.8. All fail, with a message in the Console which says:
    Mac OS X Version 10.2 (Build 6C115)
    Installer[493] * +[IFGlobals isRunningOSInstall]: selector not recognized
I notice that the usual suggestion is to go back to an earlier update, but, as I said, I've tried them all.
I've also run the disk utility and repaired permissions. Also tried running this from another admin
    account.
    Can anyone suggest something?
    Thanks,
    Frank Huddleston

    Frank,
Also check to see if, the Firmware Update was ever upgraded.
This is a requirement, before OS X can be successfully installed.
If one is required, you must start the computer from a Mac OS 8 or Mac OS 9 System Folder on the computer's hard disk, not from a CD, in order to install it.
If it was updated, in System Profiler, the Boot ROM Version should be 4.1.9
If it was never installed, you can call Apple Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the serial number and specifications of the iMac, and for a fee, order a set of the original system discs.
If you do an Erase & Install of the original OS, you can then update the Firmware.

  • Bridge CS6 not reading file metadata

    Bridge CS6 5.0.2.4, Mac OS X 10.9.2, Photoshop 13.0.6 x64.
In Bridge, only the File Properties info appears. Data for other categories such as IPTC Core and Camera Data (Exif) no not appear although checked in Preferences, but after opening a file in Photoshop the info is all there in the File Info window. If I try to append or replace data using a template, the choice is grayed out. Keywords I have created in the past appear in the metadata window, but none are checked for saved files. Thumbnails are also very slow to build. Even reading old files from a CD in Bridge fails to show data like EXIF.
I've tried deleting and rebuilding the cache, trashing prefs, no help.
Maybe this is caused by a problem with OS X 10.9.2? I don't believe I had this problem before thatchange a few weeks ago.
    Thanks for any help, Ross

For legacy files, which seem to be pre-2007, the metadata fields seem to be read-only, I can't enter or change a field such as description, for example. Even newer folders have spotty reliability, some files show metadata and others don't.
I restored my cache from a backup and that helped some, but didn't really solve the problem. Next I guess I'll try to restore my boot drive. The CS6 installation (not CC) was via a download, so I'm not sure how to reinstall that, and I don't want to lose all my customized windows, keywords, etc.

  • Why is Bridge CS6 not opening images in PS CS6?

Recently, Bridge has stopped opening pictures in Photoshop CS6. Each time I try the screen signals that Photoshop has to close down. However, I can open the pictures in ACR 7.4, but again, those images will not open in Photoshop. If I use the Mini Bridge in Photoshop, everything works fine, It seems there is a problem in the link from Bridge CS6 to Photoshop CS6.Any thoughts?

Hi there, because the forum you originally posted in is for beginners trying to learn the basics of Photoshop, I moved your question to the Photoshop General Discussion forum, where you'll get more specialized help.

  • Bridge CS6 not showing Camera Raw adjustments

I am wanting the adjustments I've made in Camera Raw to show on the thumbnailed images in Bridge CS6, but after I've made the adjustments in CR, it still shows the original/uncorrected image in Bridge.  Help?
Also, I am wanting to copy+paste the adjustments I've made in Camera Raw from one image to the next, but "Develope Settings ---> Copy Settings" is not highlited in the Bridge menu for me to do so.  Neither is it showing any option to do so when I right click  on the images.
    Thanks!

The thumbails are not embedded, and the raw images are highlighted.
Embedded thumbnails are included in the raw file from cameras.  Question, as Curt Y wrote in reply #1, is whether you are viewing these embedded from-camera thumbnails or viewing bridge-generated hi quality thumbnails.
What thumbnail quality have you selected in the 'Options For Thumbnail Quality And Preview Generation' button in the Adobe Bridge application bar?  Should be Always High Quality (or possibly High Quality On Demand).  If the selection is set to 'Prefer Embedded (Faster)' you will not see the camera raw changes in the Bridge Content thumbnail images.  Check this selection in your laptop and see if it is same as in your desktop.

  • Bridge CS6 not displaying complete metadata

I have CS5 and am playing around with CS6.  So far so good, impressed overall.
I like to have Bridge set up to display the Metadata for each image, and when I view the metadata, it is not as complete as what I see in the CS5 version of Bridge.
Specifically, I like to be able to see the Subject Distance, which is recorded for the camera/lens combination I'm using.  In Bridge CS5, the Subject Distance displays just fine, but it is completely absent in CS6.  I have confirmed this to be the case with my Canon 1D Mark IV, and my wife's Canon 7D.
Also, I like to see the ISO as well.  In Bridge CS5, it shows nicely as "ISO Speed Ratings" while in Bridge CS6, it shows as "(ISO) Photographic Sensitivity" - kind of excessive.  If I only check the "ISO Speed" - nothing shows up.
To verify this, I made sure *all* metadata options in the Preferences menu were selected to display, but despite this, the Subject Distance is not being displayed (and the ISO labeling is a bit wordy for my taste).
Also, I posted this in the PS General Forum, and received a reply from one user that for some of his old NEF files, Bridge in CS5 and CS6 displayed the subject distance properly, while for some newer NEF files, it showed in CS5, but not CS6.
I assume this is a bug, where Bridge is having trouble reading the metadata fields for different raw files, but I welcome any advice on how to get it to display Subject Distance, which is contained in the metadata.  And hopefully pointing out this bug will lead to its getting fixed sometime down the road.
    Thanks.

    Curt,
I posted here, since it's a Bridge Function, not really Camera Raw.  Bridge is where the metadata is being displayed, where the Preferences identify the particular metadata fields, etc.
And while I understand the need to do my share of sleuthing in tracking down a problem, to better define it, I think the cause here will be sporadic, rather than systemic.  As you saw with your own files, some old NEF files displayed fine, newer ones didn't.
Some cameras store Subject Distance in the MakerNote fields, others don't.  Some lenses provide the data for Subject Distance in cameras that do record this information, while others don't.  So there is a myriad of factors involved here, and any additional sleuthing would just identify particular instances where Adobe's routines aren't correctly identifying and reading the MakerNote data.
I've identified 2 current cameras, which clearly demonstrate the problem.  Adobe can examine their routines for these cameras and fix them.  And if/when others come forward having discovered their cameras also show this problem, those can be corrected as well.
As I said, I think this is more likely to represent particular quirks in their routines as they're implemented for specific camera models, rather than a systemic, universal problem.
I spent a few hours looking for another program that will find that information, and was amazed to see how difficult it is.  Even Canon's own Digital Photo Professional does not provide Subject Distance, which shocked me.  I tried PIE, Opanda, iEXIF, Irfan, Faststone, and a few others - none of them correctly found/displayed Subject Distance.
The only one I found was ExifTool, using the mod with the GUI.  This displays it in the "MakerNotes" fields, and interestingly shows 2 data points: FocusDistanceUpper and FocusDistanceLower, both in meters.  The single datum displayed by CS5 Bridge is inbetween these 2 values - not quite the mean, but close.  And as documented above, CS6 Bridge displays none of these.
