  • Firefox urges me to update my Flash Player to one with system requirements that exceed my five year old laptop's. What can I do, short of buying a new laptop?

    Hi!
Today's Firefox update urges me to update my Flash Player to a version with system requirements that exceed my five year old laptop's (Intel Core Duo, 1.66 GHz, 667 MHz with Intel Integrated GM Accelerator 950 GM).
I am already considering dropping back to Flash Player 9 because of the system requirement issue (and seeing blank image boxes at bhg.com). Is Firefox 6.0.2 compatible with Flash Player 9?
What else can I do, short of buying a new laptop? Surely others have the same issue?

For ringtones, iTunes > Preferences > General >Import Settings... button > choose Import using AAC encoder to enable Create AAC version from .m4a and mp3 files.

  • Latest Mozilla onboard & registered Adobe Systems user, so why asked to update Adobe Flash Player everytime to see u-tube video?

On needing and trying to do medical research, I am directed to university videos that are on u-tube.
Have latest version of Mozilla Firefox compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate original registered operating system onboard. All critical MS downloads shown, all hot fixes done. No download failures per Belarc PC Summary, MS security in place.
Have Windows 7 Ultimate (x64) Service Pack build 7601, on an HP pavilion dv6 Notebook PC.
Registered with Adobe Systems Inc.: A Version 2.7, Reader version: 10.1.8.24, Reader and Acrobat Mgr. Version: 1.7.4.0, Adobe Flash Player Update Service Version: 12.0.0.44 and Adobe Systems Inc. Shock Ware Flash Version: 11,9,900,170.
Yet every time I go to U-tube for above needs, it is as though I am being blocked with a small message dead center of screen that reads: "This plugin is vulnerable and needs to be updated-Active Adobe Flash".
What do I do now--this is not only frustrating, it is time-consuming?
My computer is not linked to my iPhone 4S, which I use it for calls and texts--do mountain rescue, teach illiterates to read in English as a long-time volunteer, make pastoral care and medical outreach calls as requested, in person--in addition to working.
    Thank you,

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the [https://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/ Plugin Check site].
Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions.
If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow ''Update'' button or a red ''Update now'' button, please update these immediately.
To do so, please click each yellow or red button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

  • Flash player popping up on taskbar, youtube video playing on desktop

I can not stop this problem, I have tried everything for 2 weeks. I have uninstalled re installed flash player the new version.
The Flash Player plugin application pops up as a tab on task bar on windows 7, and the youtube video pops up in the top left hand corner of my desktop and doesnt play in the browser.
I include screenshot, when I hover over the flash player plugin on the taskbar with the aero thing, it shows 3 windows, one blank 2 video windows.
There is nothing in windows logs. It does this randomly and started when I changed nothing one day it didnt do it the next day it did.
    I have windows 7 X64 sp1, Firefox 22, adobe flash 11.8.800.94.
Please help and tell me how to stop this happening once and for all because it happens randomly and only on youtube and a few other flash video sites, most of them work ok like Liveleak.

Update to this, I uninstalled the latest flash player, and installed 11.1.12.55 64 bit and have no problem with either Firefox OR Internet Explorer 10 64 bit whatsoever with any video sites at all.
I could not remember the previous version I updated from to 11.8.800.94 so I had to choose an older version from the list on the older versions page.
This problem kept happening with the latest flash player all the time I could not stop it.
This version works perfectly fine on everything although Firefox gives me a warning its vulnerable and should be updated, I turned that of because of course there is nothing wrong with it at all.
I just hope it gets fixed before my version im using becomes unusable on sites.

  • Crashes after updating last Flash Player version :(

I've updated  my Acer 7720G with Nvidia GeForce 9300m G and W7 64 bit  (Firefox) with last Flash Player's version: when i closed video (played with Flash), Flash Player and video card's drivers, both, crashed. Till I don't use command bottons it works perfectly, but if I use a botton like "pause", or "rewind", or "close all the windows", etc. they crash.  Then the only solution is reinstalling Windows because it's like Flash Player modifies basic impostation of video card: infact also the bios screen doesn't work with notebook's display, but only with an external screen (even if I try to do the things you suggested in the forum). If I reinstall W7 the  video card works on the notebook's display too, but the problem  reappears just reinstall Flash Player (after playing a video like I said before). What should I do? May you help me, please? Thank You

    Chris,
I removed all of the remaining files from the directories mentioned in your clean install instructions. There was nothing left that I can tell, but the update must have added / removed / changed a system file or registry entry for me not to be able to get this working properly again. As I mentioned, I did a controlled test to see if the upgrade would make the site fail, and it did, I just can't reverse the upgrade. I can still access my Flash Website properly from my Android Phone.
    My website is http://deltastorm.org/
The Introduction loads fine, but as soon as you click on the "Home Page", I get a Black Screen in FireFox and Explorer, and in Chrome the site just freezes.
If you have an older version Flash Player still installed on one of your systems (not downgraded - does not work) you will be able to see the site functioning properly the way it has for several years.
    George

  • How to update adobe flash player with os10.6.8

how to update adobe flash player with os10.6.8

You can check here what version of Flash player you actually have installed:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
After installing, reboot your Mac and relaunch Safari, then in Safari Preferences/Security enable ‘Allow Plugins’. If you are running 10.6.8 or later:
When you have installed the latest version of Flash, relaunch Safari and test.
If you're getting a "blocked plug-in" error, then in System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
click Check Now. Quit and relaunch your browser, but check this also:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5655?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US  which also covers ‘blocked plug-in’.

The latest automatic update (in March) was accompanied by "You should update Adobe Flash Player right now". Having done this a few days ago a new Firefox update arrived (today 7. March) with the same "request". Why does this happen and what can I do to stop it? Firefox 3.6.15 and Adobe flash player 10.1.82.76 are currently installed.

Shockwave Flash 10.1 r82 is not the latest version of Flash. '''r152''' is the latest.

  • Problem updating Adobe Flash Player with Safari

    Hello!
I'm trying to update Adobe Flash Player using Safari on a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.10.1 but every time I download the update the file looks like this:
and when I try to start the installation this window appears:
I tried several different download links but non of them worked. I also uninstalled the Adobe Flash Player and tried to reinstall it but then I have the same problem. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? Thank you!

For some reason that I have yet to determine, people with Matlab installed start getting .mdlp extensions appended to their downloaded files.  That's what happened here.  Rename the file to remove .mdlp (so that it ends in .dmg), then double-click the file and it should work.

i can't update my flash player and i might have a virus help me out with any advice on getting my mac on track ?

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Why ship Google Chrome with security updates to Flash Player

I do not want it, I will not install it, it wastes time downloading. Stop sending it to me.

I remember the European Competition authorities made a judgement against Microsoft for only shipping Internet Explorer with Windows. How can you only ship the Chrome option with Adobe updates, why do you not give users the option to download other browsers?

  • Update to Flash Player 10.3

I have just updated my flash player from 10.2 to 10.3 (explorer version) and ever since the videos or media that use flash ALL appear at the top left of the screen, flicker for a while then disappear. Even the adobe flash test page to tell me what version I have does this.
I have reinstalled and still no better. Is anyone else having this problem.
I use Chrome so isn't really a big deal but just want to make sure the error isn't my end.
    Thanks

For those running into problems with Internet Explorer 9 and Flash Player 10.3, we have just released a test version that we're hoping resolves the problems you're encountering.
"A pre-release Flash Player to address this issue is now available for testing. We are very interested in hearing you feedback concerning this possible fix. If you should encounter any new issues please report these through our Adobe Flash Player Bug Management System. Please review the instructions on this page for details on generating the information we’ll need for further investigation.
    Download Flash Player 10.3.181.15 Update
Important: Please note that this build is for testing and feedback purposes only and is not a full Flash Player release. By installing this binary you accept the terms of the Adobe Software License Agreement."
After installing the new version, please re-enable your hardware acceleration in IE9 if you had previously disabled it.  We'd like to know if this solves the problem for you, after trying it out please let us know.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Firefox 37 keeps crashing, Plugin-hang...aplication error message, & won't let me update Adobe Flash player

Ever since I updated to Firefox 37 my Firefox has been crashing. It started only doing it periodically, then it got so that if I scrolled down a page it would close. Then it got to the point where as soon as I opened Firefox it would immediately crash every time. I ran antivirus and Super AntiSpyware and rebooted, but it only let me into Firefox, nothing would load up. They only way I am able to be on right now is through my computer's "safe mode".
I have tried repeatedly to update Adobe Shockwave Flash Player, but when I click "run" the box disappears and nothing happens from there. It just won't update.
I am on a Windows XP computer which, as we know, is no longer supported by Microsoft, but am I really this SOL?
All scans say I am clean, BTW.
I am afraid to reset Firefox because if I can't update the flash player now, who can promise me I will be able to get anything back if I reset Firefox?
I am moments away from getting my hammer and having a meeting with my computer in the backyard, if you know what I mean. Please help.

Thank you so much for responding. I appreciate your help very much. There are TONS of these reports without "BP" in front of them. Most all reports are without a "BP" in front of them. They take forever to load from Archives and once I do get one loaded I can't locate a "submit" tab anywhere.
