Update to iOS 4.2.1 failed
i own an ipod touch 2g, 16gb and i tried to update but happened an error... after that the option update wasn't available anymore, only restore... so i selected restore but it does not complete, it's 95% and it does not finish the restoring process.
and now, i tried rebooting and all these steps but none of them worked out...
what should i do?

This is what worked for me: Double tap your home button to bring up the programs running in the back ground, press and hold so they show the red close option and close all programs. After that shut your iphone down and power back on. Immediately go to General>Software Update and it should work. Good Luck

Is your iPad currently running an iOS lower than iOS 5? Did you get an error message with a #?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.0.1. For the iPad Mini the iOS is 6.0.2. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

Have you checked on your PC for locally created backups? I also remember that iTunes has the bad habit of overwriting backups from time to time, so maybe check

Maybe if you find a backup containing all of the apps you could at least get the data. Best.
In the iTunes app go to Preferences/Devices and check how many different backups are there and the dates. Perhaps you missed being offered which backup to use to restore your iPhone.

Updating to ios 6.0.1, failed, wants me to restore.
I've tried turning my iphone on and off but it just shows the image of the cord with an arrow towards itunes. When I plug it in it says it's in recovery mode, that it's unamed (I had named it), capacity is n/a and so is software version and serial number. Should I do what it says and restore it? It doesn't give a "restore from backup" option, just to factory settings. And would I be able to get my photos (camera roll) back if I restored to factory settings, then from a backup?
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything...
To minimise loss... Connect to iTunes on the computer you Usually Sync with and Restore from the most recent Backup...

my new iphone 5 is frozen, with the cord to computer symbol on the screen after failing to finish updating to ios 7. iTunes no longer sees the phone. I've tried rebooting the computer, rebooting the iPhone, but iTunes still doesn't see the iPhone.
If your computer doesn't see the phone when you plug it in, you may have to take it to an Apple Store.

I have updated my iPad, my wife's iPad, but both our iPhones (5S) and (5C), give the following error every time we try.
"Unable to verify update. iOs 8.0.1 failed verification because you are no longer connected to the internet."
We are obviously connected to the internet because the updated downloaded on all 4 devices, but the iPhones will not go the next step.

Restart your computer
While your computer is restarting, clear all of the applications from the background on your iPhone. You can do this by pushing the home button twice and swiping the programs off the screen by pushing them upwards.
After you are done doing that, restart your phone.
Wait about 10 seconds or so and turn your phone back on. By the time you get your phone back on your computer should be completly restarted and ready to go.
When your phone is back on, plug it into your computer. This should automatically bring up your Itunes, you may get another pop up that says autoplay, you can close that out. That's it. I hope it helps and good luck -
IPad fails to connect to WiFi after OTA update to iOS 6
After the OTA update to iOS 6 my new iPad fails to connect to my WiFi network at home. My LANCOM router reports the following issue:

It has worked flawlessly in the past with iOS 5 on my new iPad and iPhone 4. At the moment I hestitate to update my iPhone too.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

When I updated to iOS 8.1 on my iPad 2 it failed when installing it's in recovery mode and when I go to iTunes to restore it downloads the update to about 900 Mbps then gives me error 9006
