Update to iOS 5 Signal Problems?
hi, i was wondering if anyone experienced some signal problems after ios 5 update? I did and when i was using the beta, it gave me full bars and never dropped calls but after i updated to the final version, my calls started to drop and text messages wouldn't send or recieve. Just wondering if anyone else notices this? I think that the iOS 5 Beta 7 is better then this final version..
I didn't notice any signal problems until today. Today my phone (iPhone 4 AT&T) has become virtually unusable. I upgraded on Wednesday and post upgrade didn't have any major problems other than the occasional application crash. Today my phone will not hold onto a signal for more than 30 seconds. Even if I'm sitting still, the signal drops and the phone goes into searching, no signal and finally reacquires and the cycle starts again. Battery drain is rapid, I'm guessing because it's constantly having to go into signal search mode. Twice the phone has had a hard lockup today where only the home-top button press would resolve.
At this point, I would recommend people not upgrade their iPhone 4 to the new OS. Stability is an issue in many apps and now this signal problem is making my smartphone feel quite stupid.

Logic Remote issues after updating to iOS 8, problem solved!
Has anyone else has been experiencing connectivity issues with Logic Remote after updating to iOS 8?
After updating to iOS 8 I could no longer connect so I sent a feedback report to Apple and got a response that cleared up my problem immediately:
Navigate to the following directory on your desktop system running GarageBand:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
You can quickly navigate there using the “Go” menu in Finder -> Go To Folder (shift-command-G), then copy this path:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.garageband10/Data/Library/Preferences/
In the Preferences folder should be a file named "com.apple.garageband10.cs”.
Make sure GarageBand is not running and delete the "com.apple.garageband10.cs” file.
Relaunch GarageBand and see if you should now be able to connect.
The same can be done for Logic by navigating to:
~/Library/Preferences/
And deleting "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" and restarting Logic.
Note that doing this will fix Logic Remote connectivity issues (and possibly other problems with latency and mixer functionality) but will also delete any other Controller settings that you've configured with Logic, if you happen to be using another controller of some sort.Note: Removing the CS (Controller Surface) plist is a part of the basic troubleshooting procedures for Logic Pro (and GB)

Hello, I have a question regarding the new update to iOS 5.
I have an iPod touch 4th gen, purchased in Novenber last year. I've updated it to a clean 4.3.5, to update to iOS 5. I've tried DFU mode, iREB, recovery mode, and 2 different computers, a Mac OS X Snow Leopard 32-bit and a Windows 7 64-bit, but it will NOT update! One of the most common error codes I get are 200x and 3491. Could someone please help me out? It bugs me...- To update to iOS 5 you need iTunes 10.5 or laetr. The current version is 10.6.

IPhone 3GS update to IOS 6 problem
I recently received an iPhone 3GS (32gb) from a friend, and updated it to IOS 6.1, after the update, i tried to turned it on and went through the setup, but when it got to the activation part it couldn't activate, i got this message "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to active it, or try again in a couple of minutes" when i connect it to iTunes i get this message "We are unable to continue with your activation at this time" any help would be grateful, Thanks.
The behavior you're describing would occur with a jailbroken or hacked iPhone. If it was ever jailbroken or hacked, it is now permanently "bricked".

I am having similar problems on my new iPhone 4S
My mac gets good wifi connection in the same location. I measured the signal strength -- something like -77db signal vs. -90db noise.
But my iPhone WiFi keeps cutting in and out. In fact, I left my phone on last night to update various apps over WiFi. When I checked it this a.m. I had received several warning messages from AT&T that I was nearing my 3G data limit. I looked at my phone and it had consumed nearly 100mb of cellular data overnight, when it should have been connected over WiFi.
Needless to say, it's taken some of the thrill away from my new iPhone... -
Problems with Wifi on iphone 4 after updating ot iOS 5.1
After I update to iOS 5.1 is started having problems with my home wifi.
After the update every thing seems to be running alright after after a day my connection was lost.
When I tried to reconnect I got the message "unable to join the network".
I tried the following things:
- Forget network, reconnect: This did not help
- restart iPhone: did not help.
- Reset network settings: did not help.
The next step I tried was to restart my router.
This solved the problem, but after 1 day I have the same issue.
When I go to work there is no problem when I get back home same thing over again.
This is going on ever since I update to iOS 5.1
Before the update I had no problems.
Does anyone have more perment solution.I have the same issue with my iPhone4 running ios5.1. I have tried everything you mentioned above as well as updating the firmware on my router, setting my router to broadcast on 2.4GHZ or 5GHZ exclusively, assigning my iPhone a static address as well as a multitude of other mentioned fixes. I have determined this is NOT an issue with my WiFi Network, or Router. All other wireless devices in my home do not have this issue; except for my partner's iPhone4S also running ios5.1. It's WiFi issues are identical to mine. Our other Smartphone, an HTC running Android, has no WiFi issues whatever.
When I attempt to use WiFi on other networks with my iPhone4, I encounter the same issues: Intermittent connectivity,reporting that it is "Unable to Join Network", showing a strong WiFi signal on screen and yet having no WiFi connectivity, showing WiFi connectivity on screen and strong signal strength, and having no IP Address(etc) under WiFi Networks Settings. After spending a great deal of time online looking for solutions I have determined the following:
This is clearly an Apple Hardware or Software issue. I hope Apple eventually addresses this issue because it is extremely frustrating! -
Has anyone else had issues with phone network being unavailable on iPhone 4 since updating to iOS 5.0.1? My iPhone 4 is continually searching for a network and does not find AT&T, my provider. I swapped SIM cards with another iPhone 4 running ios 4 and established this is a device problem, not a SIM card problem.
Does the device get any signal?
Sounds like the device may have had a hardware failure. If it is out of warranty, the only option is the Out of Warranty replacement.
AppleCare is only an option if it is still under the original warranty. -
Wi-fi and data signal problems after upgrade to ios 8.0.2
Hi all,
I have an iphone 6 and updated to ios 8.0.2 two days ago (skipping the ill-fated ios 8.0.1). However, since the update my wi-fi signal is even worse and keeps dropping out, as does me 3G/4G signal.
Is anyone else having this problem? Should I (can I?) roll back to ios 8?

As stated by gdgmacguy you may need to do a full reset/restore, but this may be overkill. Before putting your iPhone back to factory defaults, you should try doing a full power down cycle (press and hold the power button, slide the off switch on screen). Wait a few seconds before powering back up. Put your password in to unlock the iPhone and wait to see if your wifi/cellular signal improves. If this does not work, then you need to see if there is something else messing with the handset. The way to do this is to backup all your stuff first and then do a full factory reset. DO NOT RESTORE your iPhone yet. Let it start up as a new handset. If your wifi/cellular signal does not improve, then there is likely to be a hardware issue and you should take the handset back to your point of purchase. If your signal does improve without any apps etc, then it could well be that you have some apps using background services. Turn off background services and switch off cellular data and see if this helps with the wifi stuff. If so, then you need to go through the list of apps trying out which combination works.
iOS 8 is - in this shark's opinion - a bit of a bugfest and still has a number of issues for Apple and Developers alike. I expect to see 8.0.3 and 8.0.4 or maybe even 8.1 before too long.

Why do I lose signal since updating to iOS 5.1?

Since I updated my iOS from 5.0.1 to 5.1, my iPhone:
1) Takes a lot more time finding the network when I turn it on.
2) Frequently loses reception and searches for network for 10-30 seconds before going back on the network full strength. The weird thing is that when this happens, I'm usually at the same place, so it does not make sense that I go from five bars of signal to nothing.
3) Also, when I lose signal, there is a prompt telling me that I lost signal. This prompt is annoying, is there a way to make it not appear?
Sifting through forums, I realized that I was not the only one having this issue. Is Apple aware of that problem? Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue?
Thank youThe signal on iPhone has been broken since the 5.0.1 update, some people got it as early as 5.0.1 while others have now seen it manifest itself with the later 5.1 update. So far Apple has not taken on it's resposibility to fix it, and will not likely look into it while the media keep quiet. There have been plenty of threads created on this support site but it looks like everything falls on deaf ears, sorry to inform you of this.
You will now also find that text messages may arrive very late, some will not arrive unless you power down the phone and turn it back on again... even if you did have a signal when the other person sent you that text message. -
Iphone 4 bluetooth connectivity problems since updating to ios 5.01
My wife and I both have an Iphone 4 through verizon. I updated my ios to 5.01. Hers is still 4.3.10. Since updating mine the bluetooth feature have gone crazy. When I get in my truck (2008 Nissan Frontier) it just continually connects and disconnects with the built in blue tooth system in that vehicle. I cannot make or take a call on the system it just keeps dropping the connection then re-connecting. Funny thing is my wife's phone doesn't have this problem. It connects and functions normally.
I wanted to just roll back ios 5.0.1 but I've found out you aren't allowed to do that. Nissan has no updates for their bluetooth system either.
I have gone the extreme of completely wiping out my iphone and re-installing everything fresh and that has done nothing. I have also tried completely deleting all the phone saved in the truck's system and re-setting them up and that too has done nothing to fix the problem.
Anyone have a suggestion? I have to think that there is something in ios 5.0.1 that is messed up with bluetooth.Interesting discussion. I too am having connection issues with an original iPad. I have an olde' linksys wrt54gs router with a Linksys RE1000 wireless extender (repeater). I can connect to the router just fine when I'm in range but can't use the repeater signal on this iPad only. Even when I'm right on top of it. One thing that may have helped is changing from WPA2 to simple WPA encryption in the routers settings. So far (crosses fingers), it's working ok.

my 3gs has no service after updating from ios 5 tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings and restoring from back up on itunes.
telus cant find any network problems and apple is difficult to deal with.please help 3 weeks with no phone and $70 a month not happy.I have been having a similar problem for the last few days.Without warning the signal will just completely duck out leaving the device searching for several minutes before settling on a no signal message.
Sometimes restarting the device, toggling data and 3g settings or toggling Airplane Mode will set things right. However, a lot of the time I've been left without a working phone.
I don't believe this is a SIM issue, as I had to change my SIM only one month ago for another signal related problem. Again any help would be appreciated here as well. -

i have problem with SMS on my iPhone 5S. After update to iOS 7, sometimes SMS messages cannot be sent. I tested sending SMS to various contacts, none of them does not work. Mobile signal from mobile operator is good, imessages are working, telephone is working. Situation will improves itself in one hour after this. One possible solution is restart iPhone. Please help. Thank you!I made it. I tried to restore, reset network settings, etc... no change. Whats your opinion on reclamation od iPhone, its possible in this case? I am new to this community even though I have been a Apple user for years, so please forgive me if this question is not in the right section.
Has anyone encountered drastic shorter battery life both on iphone 5 and ipad since updating to iOS 6.1.2? I've always been happy with these two products until the update - now the battery life is considerably shorter which is extremely frustrating.
How can this problem be solved? Is there any way to go back to the previous version?
Thanks for your help.If you update using iTunes the phone is first wiped clean, then the new OS is installed, and finally the backup is restored. After this finishes if you sync your music should be restored. Music is not in the backup, because it is already on your computer and duplicating it would use up a lot of hard disk space.
An OTA update just patches what has changed; it does not disturb content.
