Update to IOS 6 and Voice Memos are now gone.

My daughter has an old iPhone 3GS without a phone plan that she uses as an iPod. Tonight, she updated it to IOS 6 without telling me, which means it wasn't backed up prior to the update. Now, all her Voice Memos are gone, and she hasn't synced it with iTunes since last summer - assuming that the Voice Memos were going to iCloud.
A quick Google search tells me that Voice Memos aren't backed up to iCloud. Is it possible that these Voice Memos exist somewhere on the phone that we can recover?
If not, she has learned a hard lesson about doing major updates like this. I haven't updated my phone yet because I want to be sure everything is backed up first.

I am having the same issue. Updated to ios6 via the phone (iphone 4) and now all of my voice memos are missing. I have the majority backed up somewhat recently to itunes, but I'm baffled as to why all of them would go away on the phone after the update?

I bought my iphone 4s from canada about less than a month ago. It worked perfectly fine, until i recently discovered that the mic on speaker mode stopped working. That means, when i speak to someone on speaker during a call, they are unable to hear me.However Siri and voice memos are working fine. I could initially face-time but now i cant. As i am based out of india, I contacted apple in India, they refused to touch the phone as it was purchased in Canada and the warranty is apparently applicable only in the country of purchase. I can in no way go back to canada to get the phone replaced. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can resolve this? Shouldnt apple be able to get this sorted since its a brand new phone under warranty?

i like to record concerts i go to a listen to them and the voice memos are how i record them

If you still have the 'pointers' to them in iTunes then I think that it assumes that you still have them on your computer so it won't re-download them or let you copy them from your iPod - try deleting the iTunes entry for one of them and then re-try re-downloading or, with your iPod connected, File > Transfer Purchases. If it works for that one then do the same for the others.

IOS 5 and voice memos won't sync

Hi,
so, like everyone else, I update to iOS 5 and now my voice memo won't sync. I would like to NOT have to delete them to restore as they have all my lectures from school on it. But, if I have to restore, is there anyway of backing it up before restoring? or is there another solution to my problem?? is there anyway of reverting back to the old iOS?

I'm also having issues with voice memos. I have an iPhone 3GS and the memos sync to iTunes ok, but won't transfer to my iPad 1 running iOS 5. They are shown in iTunes as being on the iPad, but the 'sync' icon remains to the left of the file and they are never actually copied across. I've posted on several sites but have had no replied.

I have a 5th generation Ipod and when I am doing a sync, my voice memos and some of my playlists are not transfering from my computer to my Ipod. They are checked but just not transfering...I'm sooooo frustrated. Any suggestions?

The voice memos, in particular, are important as they contain several conversations I had with my, now decieced, grandmother. I was under the mistaken impression that everything was being backed up nightly when I was connected to wi-fi at home and plugged in to a charger.

You could try restoring the backup again. Sometimes people have more success the second time.

Updated to IOS 5 and my apps are gone and I cant manually put them back on

i updated my 4th gen iPod touch to IOS 5 and it wiped most of the apps from my ipod. On itunes it shows that they are they but they won't show on my ipod. I tried to manually add them back on with the app store and it says that it is already installed??? Help????

i had the same problem and i had to completely restart my ipod. when you plug it into the computer go on itunes and click on your ipod icon. THe ipod menu should be there (summary) click on the restore button. it worked for me, all the best i hope it works for you.

Hi, I would like my voice memos to be under music in my ipod so that I can do other things while listening e.g. writing notes. When im connected to itunes it shows that my voice memos are now under music in my ipod but in the ipod itself theyre not there.

How can I have voice memos in music (in ipod)?

You can try syncing them to your computer. Then copy/move to a reular play list and then go to the Get Info for the memo and then to Options and chang the Media kind for Voice Memo to Music or another option depending upon where you want the old memos to go.

Updated to iOS 6 and reoccurring meetings are extended to multiple hours...

We are a Google Apps environemnt and all of the re-occurring meetings have been extended to 40 or so hours instead of 1 hour after updating iOS to 6.

I upgraded last night and now some of my app icons are missing. If I do a spotlight search and find the app I can then launch the app from there but I would like to have the icon back to use rather than a workaround.

After the IOIS 5.0 update my apps weren't showing on my device until I tabbed thru several screens on the phone. The only other issue was when I did a "restore" to new , not from backup because I was issues with the update (Bugs) Did a update and my apps didn't show until I did a " File" ................Transfer Purchases from Iphone.....with the device connected to ITunes...........then Sync................ Firefox recently updated itself, and all bookmarks are now gone. how do I get them back.

no content needed. As I stated previously, all bookmarks are gone after firefox did an auto update.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

IPhone 5 and voice memos

I moved my iTunes library over to another hard drive, and had to resync my playlists. My voice memos are now all on my computer and showing up in iTunes but they're not on my iPhone 5. I'm running Windows and iTunes 11 (latest version). I keep checking sync voice memos and choosing that playlist called voice memos but they never show up on my phone. They're all in my iTunes library. Please help!

Never mind. I found out how to fix this by editing the get info as someone had suggested.....

Voice memos, once correctly synced, will appear under your Music Library. Can you go through your music library to check?
