Update to latest version of iTunes causes a problem
I am using a windows 8 laptop and iPhone 5 and now iTunes fails to recognise the iPhone but it will recognise my iPod Classic.
I am unable to revert to a previous version of iTunes as the library has become attached to the new version.
This seems to be a regular occurance when Apple updates iTunes.
I have tried reinstalling the new version of iTunes but that doesn't help, I think the update must be missing a .dll file which was the problem once before.
How can I resolve the problem and get the computer to recognise the iPhone again?
Any Suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

The iPod is brand new, sent to me by Apple as part of the 1st gen replacement programme. I've been using the cable that came with the 1st gen iPod (I bought the first gen second hand) It always worked on my computer with the 1st gen iPod. So I was wondering, do you think I need to replace my cable in order for my PC to recognize my iPod or is it something else?

When attempting to update to latest version of iTunes on my PC (11.1.4) I received an error message: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime error as well as: AppleSync Notifier.exe - entry point not found, the procedure entry point sqlite_wal_checkpoint cound not be located in the dynamic link library SQLite3.dll.
I unistalled iTunes, then attempted to reinstall. I get to a point where I receive the following response: Service (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." just updated to the latest version of itunes for windows. i can't stream any of my radio stations and when i try to connect to the itunes store i get an error -3212 message saying i'm not connect to the internet, yet my browser works and my wireless status is ok.

Your response addressed how to fix this issue with earlier windows operating systems, but not for windows 8, so what ended up working for me was your advice applied a little differently. For anyone running windows 8 needing to know how to resolve this issue by repairing the Apple Application Support program, try following these simple steps - what a relief it was to have itunes working again after applying b noir's answer to the windows 8 operating system!
1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Control Panel.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.)
2. Click the Programs and Features icon.
3. In the list of programs and features, find the Apple Application Support feature and click to select it.
4. In the gray title bar above it, click Repair.
5. Approve the window prompts that follow until the repair has been completed.
6. Relaunch iTunes.

Since updating to latest version of ITunes it won't share with Apple TV
Updated to the latest version of Itunes and now it will not share with Apple TV even though home sharing is turned on. Apple TV does everything but allow me to play from ITunes on my PC. I can use airplay on my IPhone 5 no problem. I can use all other Apple TV features except home sharing. Apple TV is saying basically that my ITunes does not have home sharing turned on? HELP!!!!!

Home sharing is turned on within ITunes yet apple TV says on the computer icon that: To access your ITunes library on Apple TV turn on home sharing in ITunes on your computer using (my email address)
It is turned on?
I have so far restored Apple TV to its factory settings
Uninstalled ITunes and reinstalled it
Tried to install an earlier version of ITunes however even that says cannot use library due to being created by a later version of ITunes.
Really not sure what to do next?

Problem since updating to latest version of iTunes (11.3)
Since I updated to the latest version of iTunes (11.3) a couple of weeks ago I cannot sync my iPod (Classic). ITunes does not detect the device! Anyone have any ideas??
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Suggestions for updating to latest version of itunes?
My vista windows laptop will no longer update to the latest version of itunes even though it keeps prompting me to update. When I got into itunes it won't sync anylonger with my ipdad it just won't recognize the device. I have tried to uninstall itunes and windows installer won't uninstall the program. Any suggestions on how to fix and get latest version of itunes so I can get itunes to recognize and sync with the ipad?

Since updating the iOS in iTunes is the only approved way, why do you think it might ruin or jailbreak the phone??
Updating the iOS doesn't normally delete anything from the phone but it's always best to sync and backup the phone in case something goes wrong.

When attempting to download the latest version of iTunes I receive a message that there is no installation package found (iTunes.msi). Searching my computer, I cannot locate a file with the msi designation. Tried to use the .exe file unsuccessfully. I am unable to remove the current version for the same reason. I have a large library of music that I cannot download on my iPhone4 for the same reason.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
I my macbook pro will not recognize my iphone. I had the AppleStore, re-install my original software a month or two ago, but since they did this, my computer cannot recognize my Iphone it is telling me that I also need to download the new version of Itunes, but keeps telling me my system isn't running the correct software.
