Update to OS 10.6.5 causing video problems with FCP

I stupidly updated to 10.6.5 this morning and ever since all video displayed in FCP appears to be underexposed by 5 or more stops. To give you an idea, it looks as if I applied 3-way color corrector and crushed the blacks 1/2 to 3/4 of the way down. This happens to all video in both the canvas and viewer window no matter what project I have opened. At first I thought maybe it was a problem with my graphics card but all of my qt files play fine. And if I go to the clips I am referencing in FCP they are fine when viewed through quicktime. I have tried the following:
move media to a different location and reference from there
install the combo version of OS 10.6.5
trashing my preferences in FCP
completely reinstalling FCP
none of these have worked.
I assume the other idea would be to reinstall my OS back to 10.6.4 but then I would have to wipe my hard drive right?
Very frustrating because I am in them middle of a project and now I can't work.

Someone will say "Restore your backup, the backup you made before you upgraded to 10.6.5." Just warning you.
I'm also using 10.6.5 but I've not seen what you're describing. Maybe something is that more specific to your setup is causing it. If you export a QuickTime movie is it also fine or is your video output fine? If it is then you can keep working, because you know that the problem isn't affecting your output.
Going back to 10.6.4 may be the thing to do, and yes you'll need to wipe your drive. So back up your system as it is now just in case the 10.6.4 reinstall fails spectacularly.

Assuming that the HP software is up-to-date, but still not working, have you tried Image Capture in the Applications folder. Does that work?

Could Bad RAM Cause Video Problems in 1st Gen 24" iMac

I have been having video problems with my 1st Gen 24" iMac over the past 6 months, but recently the machine wouldn't turn on at all. I left it at my local Apple Store to be diagnosed and they said that it was just a bad stick of RAM (not a big deal, its cheap these days). But what I forgot to ask them was, could that bad RAM be causing the video problems I've been having or is it the video card also?

Are you still having video problems since the ram was replaced? If the problem went away then it was the cause, it not then something else is.

According to the instructions given on the Norton Community forum under "Other Norton Products/Comcast-Customers - Norton Toolbar Problem in Firefox 10", I have done everything necessary. And I do have a Norton toolbar (Safe Web and Identity Safe) when I open Firefox 10. As was mentioned in the previous posts here, you need to run manual LiveUpdate then reboot until you have version 5.2.0.13. Then reboot and run manual LiveUpdate again and reboot once more. One thing that I noticed is that Norton never told me that it had updated the patch for Firefox 10, so I didn't know. I guess if you have the toolbar when you run Firefox 10, then you have done it all.

Firefox 6.0.1 causes extreme problems with ATI Catalyst 10.x drivers on a Win7 x64 system. Took me quite awhile to identify, but when I roll back to Firefox 6.0, no problems. Once Firefox recognizes this and reinstalls the 6.0.1 update then severe display driver problems occur causing very erratic display behavior and ultimately rendering the system inoperative. The problem appears to occur within a minute or two after Firefox has been opened and it occurs even if Firefox has been subsequently closed prior to the actual event taking place. I have attempted this 6 times just to ensure that the problem was associated with the 6.0.1 update.

Try assigning Queen as the Album Artist on the compilations in iTunes on your computer.

New WIN7 System, FFox gives error "Could not initialize the application's security component. The most likely cause is problems with files in your application's profile directory" - will not go to any site.

New Windows 7 computer. After installing Firefox, every time I bring it up I get the following message:

In Mac OS X v10.7, the $HOME/Library folder is a hidden folder.
Open Finder and use one of these:
* Go > Go To Folder (Shift-Command-G) and in the dialog type: ~/Library

You can also use this command in a Terminal window to remove the hidden flag.
* Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Terminal

To map the drive on your computer click on Start - RUN - type "\\192.168.1.1" and click ok... When prompted for Username and Password type "admin" and click ok... Now you will be able to see the folder which you have shared on your router, right click on it and select "Map network drive" and click on finish.
Now it will map the drive on your computer and you should be able to transfer the file from your computer to the USB drive.
