Update to os5

I noticed that I was missing some photos from ipad (they are in iphoto). I could not get them to transfer and I was asked to update to os5 which I did and regret. Now in photos, the pics are not shown with key photos from iphoto as they were before and in iMac. I have 23,000 pics and don't know what is in any of the events. Key photos were chosen to jog my memory, now it is the 1st photo from every event that is on ipad. HATE IT!!
Itunes library is in a different view and not the way my itunes library is displayed on iMac. Will live with it if I had to.
Safari used to be displayed with as many as 9 open pages and all could be viewed on safari field. Now it is done in folders, so all you can see is the name at the top of folders as to which page you want to open, except if 2 pages of same site is open, you can not see which page you want.
This has done the unthinkable...it made an Apple product perform like "windows" . It has "windowized" the Apple platform. Having folders instead of visual seeing all open pages is what windows would do. I used windows OS for 25yr and just came back to Mac. Atleast with "windows" changes, they would give you an option to use classic or new view. Or could restore to former date to go back to former ipad os4. I have called all my ipad friends telling them to not update if they like the way their ipad is performing!! REALLY HATE THIS FEATURE.
I don't think this os was well thought out before it suggested an update because it stinks.
Any one have any help to go back to former os for ipad?

I've tried for 2days myself with no luck- it's completely frustrating! I called apple & finally got through and they said that so many people are trying to update that the system is "busy" and try it again in a few days =/ suxs! This happened with the iphone 3 update too

I think a few have.
Try the standard fixes:
- Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

Apps are only tied to one account... You can set up two iTunes accounts on your computer, however, and let his iPad sync to his account. If he has never backed up his apps to a computer, however, he will have to redownload all the apps. Afterwards, he can backup to iCloud instead of your computer.

You're not talking to a team of Apple employees poised to jump on your question. We're all just users here, and we might be doing something else...
You cannot delete the App store App. It is somewhere on your Home screens, or you have dragged it into a folder. Any folder. If all else fails Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

Then you can open the movies, keep tapping on them and choose Open in Flex:Player.

Cant update to OS5?

i have the 8520. In the "about" menu in options, it says i have v4.6.1.259 the blackberry site says i can update to os5. however, when i try to do that, my device manager says i have the most current version....yet it still says v4.6. help!

After I updated to OS5, my company's emaile doesn't download using 3G, only WiFi...anyone has experienced the same? All other applications and e-mails work fine with 3G

At the next day from the second glitch or kernel panic my computer had a new one. The beep is a triple beep, followed by a pause and then again another three beeps. I remembered that, the same day I had the first kernel panic (it seems to me that´s what it is) I had installed an AOL tool bar for the Firefox browser and then, the problems started.
So what I did (I read it on another article) was, I uninstalled the Firefox browser altogether with the plugins, add-ons and extensions. Then, I disconnected everything, placed the computer on the bed (on its screen side) and removed the memory slots lid. I switched the memory cards and then, I plugged everything back on and...it seems that solved the problem: it´s been already four days and it hasn´t failed.
Apparently, it could have been an incompatibility with the Firefox AOL toolbar plug-in or also, something to do with the memory cards.
Anyway, I hope this helps other people.

I'm encountering the same problem as the original poster. In my case, I'm using FCP 10.1 (running on OS 10.9.1). My source file is DV video imported via FireWire from a DV camcorder. The clip's audio is fine when playing inside of Final Cut Pro 10.1, but when I share the project the audio track is just white noise. My share settings are to Apple 720p devices (the subseqent dialog boxes indicate the software has figured out it's really 640x480 video).
Here's what the QuickTime Inspector says about the source file:

The rather dated version of Compressor I have (v3.5.3) was able to encode the clip to H.264 640x480 and the results are fine. However, it took way longer than FCP 10.1 (I think it's too old to be taking advantage of the GPU).

Well, first off...the 8520 is not a Storm, it's a Curve. The 9520 (which you put in your profile here) is a Storm.
So, if your question is about the 9520, then the answer is never. The Storm line is EOL, and as far as I understand, development stopped on the OS in the 5.0 range, and will never move beyond.

If you connect your iPad to your computer's iTunes you should be able to copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases - that should copy apps, ibooks and iTunes media purchases. Other epub books or PDFs that are in the iBooks app should also copy over. eBooks that you have in other ebook apps should be backed up in the app's own store (e.g. Kindle books purchased from Amazon are on your Amazon account).
Before starting the update you should also backup the device (right-click the iPad 'device' and select 'back up'), and copy off any important documents, files, notes etc (e.g. by email, the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab in iTunes, wifi, whatever the apps that you use support) - the update process should backup and restore the content but it's best to be safe.

same thing happenned to me.
IOS5 installed fine, but the restore failed.
Eventually, I just logged in as if it was a new phone. iTunes remembered my apps, but all the data is still gone.
And then it backed up on me.
I'm on a winxp box, and I had gone into C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer
and I copied it to another location. So perhaps, if they get this fixed, I can recover the items from this old location.
but, to be honest, I have lost a whole day messing with this, and I am very annoyed.

Hello... I updated my iPad to os5 and now only some of my apps sound programs work. Some have no sound and I cannot figure out why. Thoughts?

First check the side switch on the side of the iPad above the volume control. Try flipping the switch the other way. If you see the speaker icon when you flip that switch it was set to mute system sounds.
If that switch locked the screen, then do this. Double tap the home button to bring up the task bar at the bottom. Swipe all the way to the right in the task bar. Look all the way on the left side and see if there is a speaker icon there. If so, tap it and see if the system sounds come on again.
You can set the side switch to either mute system sounds or to lock the screen. Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Lock Rotation or Mute. Whichever function you choose for the side switch, the other function will be available in the task bar.

Also go to Settings >General >Sounds > and make sure that you have all the sounds turned on and that the volume slider bar is adjusted to at least the halfway point
Finally - make sure that that the volume is turned up on the volume control on the right side of the iPad (when held in portrait mode). I know that seems obvious but you never know!
