Update to PSE 13

A couple of days ago I received an update to my PSE 13 - I use it for digital scrapbooking. Ever since I applied the update, whenever I drag a paper onto my layered template, it goes to a different layer than the one that I have highlighted in the layers palette. What the heck is going on? This is super frustrating

Can you please try resetting preferences:
Hold down the (Alt + Ctrl + Shift) keys on Win ( Opt + Cmd + Shift on Mac) as you click on the icon to open Elements. When asked if you want to delete the settings file, say yes.
Launch Editor.
If resetting preferences does not work ,I would need some more details to isolate the issue:
1. What`s your platforms(Win/Mac)?
2. Has your PSE successfully updated to 13.1(Check in Help>About Photoshop Elements)

I have been updating my PSE since 10. Recently I purchased PSE13 as I didn't see an update for my 12. I was changing to a new laptop as my old laptop had been patched and worked and was showing signs of giving out. It was a Window's 7OS. My new one is a Windows 8 OS so I bought the 13 and downloaded it on the new laptop. Our desktop had died so I downloaded the 13 on the new  desk computer also. Not thinking I downloaded 13 on my old laptop as I hope to get it patched up enough to be a backup for my photography. When I tried to activate it I realized that I had downloaded it too often. I didn't know you could only use it on two computers. Learn something new every day.. Any way I removed it and now my PSE 12 does not seem to be working. Now it could be something that I did or something that is an issue with the laptop. this laptop has all the previous editions on board as I always tried to update, except for the year I got a really good deal on Black Friday. I also notice that the new laptop has a copy of PSE 12 in the program list. To my knowledge I have never deactivated any of my PSE's except the extra 13 downloaded. Bottom line, do I need to go in and deactivate previous PSE versions and removed them from my computer? I could certainly use the space and secondly, can I deactivate the PSE 12 and then go back and reacitivate it and install it again on the old laptop or the desktop, whichever I deside would be the most appropriate place for the newer program. For the PSE 12 since it is an updater for 11, does the 11   still need to be on the laptop? thanks for anyone who can understand what I am trying to say and can advise me as to my next move. Thank you very much.

Why start a new and very similar thread to your other one which you have not responded to (have you read the replies?)
I suggest that no response is made to this duplicate thread.

  • ACR 6.6 update for PSE 9

    To quote the Adobe readme:
    "Adobe® Photoshop® Camera Raw 6.6 Read Me
    Installation
This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Photoshop CS5, Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9."
I have PSE 9.0.3 with ACR 6.5.0.216 but I am looking to buy one of the cameras newly supported by ACR 6.6. From the Adobe readme, the ACR 6.6 is also for PSE 9.
I tried the update in PSE and it informed me there were no updates available. However, from the Adobe site, ACR 6.6 was also for PSE 9. I followed the instructions for manual installation and downloaded the zip file (for Windows - have Win 7 Pro fully updated).
The installer told me that "update not applicable".
    Simple question:
Is the new version of ACR (6.6) available for PSE 9 or not?
    Thanks.

Adobe certainly aren't making themselves trying to force people to move to PSE 10. OK if they want to play that with PSE 12 but not with PSE 9!
I'm not sure I understand your version 12 vs. 9 comment.
Regardless, in order to stay in business of COURSE they want to develop business practices to encourage people to purchase their newer versions of software!
You want to pay money to buy new camera technology but somehow you think you should not have to pay money to buy new software technology?  Why not?

I found ... the manual work around.
As you appear to have found out, Adobe does provide everyone a (less convenient/integrated) free solution to allow you to continue to use your older software with newer cameras, via the DNG Converter application, the latest version of which you can freely download.
For what it's worth, I always buy the upgrades to the latest versions of Photoshop, but I once thought as you do - before I discovered Adobe's free DNG solution.
    Happy raw converting!

  • How do I install raw update in PSE 10?

I have PSE10 and Win 8.1 and want to try editing raw files. I have tried to install both
Camera Raw 6.6 update for Elements 10 and
Camera Raw 6.5 update for Elements 10
but the install fails with the following error message
    Elements Camera Raw 6.5 Updates
    Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7
    How can I solve this?
    Many thanks
    Anna H

If in the pse 10 editor you go to Help>About Plug-In and click on the words Camera Raw, which version does it say?
The latest camera raw update for pse 10 is 6.7, so try this installer for camera raw 6.7
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7 update for Elements 10

  • Updated from pse 6 to 8

I just updated from pse 6 to pse8.  When I "converted" the catalog it seemd to go quite quickly which tells me it only converts the catalog but uses the previous picture files (I have a zillion.) is that correct?  it seems to be working fine.
also, it put the catalog on my C drive and I have my pictures on an external drive.  Is that OK?

Yes, that sounds right.  The catalog only contains links to your photos, not the actual photos themselves.  So when you convert a catalog from an old version of PSE to a new one, the conversion goes pretty quickly.   Keeping the catalog in the default location on the C drive is fine (and will generally give the fastest performance).

  • Strange happenings after recent update to PSE 7

The other day, I downloaded and installed an update to PSE 7. When I go to open an art file that came as an attachment to an email, the resolution in Outlook immediately seems to switch to 640 x 400 and then it takes PSE forever to open. Once it does open, things seem to go back to normal. However, when I clicked on "Help" and selected one of the topics, the screen resolution switch again and then PSE stopped responding. Before the update download, everything has been working fine through all the versions of PSE that I have owned. I am running Windows XP on this computer.
    Thank you.

<br />The Backup and Synchronization Update, Required for the reliable backup and synchronization of files with photoshop.com. Just appeared in my Adobe Updater yesterday:

    <br />
<br />I cant find any description of it at Adobe.com, nor is it listed in the Downloads/Updates section of the site.
    <br />
<br />It changes, but does not fix, the bugs with handling of dates/times with unknown fields. It doesnt fix the bug with the handling of dates/times of photos that appear in more than one album, nor the bug that fails to sync changes in album ordering.

  • Update for PSE 12?

When will we see an update for PSE 12 recognizing Nikon's D610 which has been launched almost 2 months ago?

Its included in the 8.3 release candidate at Adobe Labs so should be fairly soon.
If you can't wait you could convert your NEFs to DNG by downloading the DNG 8.3RC Converter

  • Problems loading updates for PSE/PRE 9 after re-installation

    Hi
After having upgraded  Windows 8.1 to 64 bit (earlier 32 bit) I re-installed both PSE 9 and PRE 9 and registered both of them
Next step was to download PSE/PRE updates (packages available for both products) but that ends with error messages
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0.3 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
    Photoshop Camera Raw 6.5 Update
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
    Premiere Elements 9.0.1 Updater
There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
I quit and came back later - several times - yesterday and today - but no chance to load the updates.
I really need the updates at least for Camera Raw 6.5 which refuses to open CR2 files from a Canon EOS 60D
My guess was that it could have to do with missing deactivation of my previous installation (meanwhile fixed, by booting into 32bit Windows 8.1 - still available on another partition, deactivating and removing both PRE and PSE).
So I was in contact with Adobe Support via chat in case my serials had to be unlocked but they just replied that I would have received another error message and that I shall contact the forum for older products like PSE9
But they also stated that the updates are available @Adobe, no known system problems.
I hope you have a better answer.
    Thank you for helping!

    PS:
System Config: i5 3.2 GHz, 12 GB RAM, Windows 8.1 x64 t (new installed), NVidia  GeForce GT520, latest driver
Main Adobe products in use: Lightroom 5.6 (x64), PSE 9 & PRE 9
Internet Connection: Fibre 100 Mbits up/down (this cannot be the reason )

It's an issue on adobes side.
The easiest thing to do is download and install the updates from here:
    photoshop elements 9
Adobe - Photoshop Elements : For Windows
    premiere elements 9

    Hi,

  • Update for PSE 9.0.3 fails repeatedly

My new Dell Inspiron Laptop came with Printshop Elements 9 preinstalled. I registered the product and now I am trying to update the software. The download was initially large. I keep getting a Patch Cannot be applied  message indicating I should "Contact Support".  Online Support required Installation of Support Advisor. I installed it and now get the message: Could not identify any problems. I am very frustrated. Anone have any suggestions or solutions???
    GARY

Try to download the updates manually for your PSE 9 according to your OS from the below link and then install it.
Make sure you close all the adobe applications while any updates are being installed.

  • Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 9.0.3 fails

I have been trying to update either manually or with the update function the camera raw plugin for Photoshop Elements 9 to the newest version. It keeps saying that the update has failed. I know I don't have the newest version because I can't open my .CR2 files in photoshop. Which the newest version is able to do. Please, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated! I can't update anything in PSE 9.

DagoEmerson I would recommend posting your inquiry into the Photoshop Elements forum.  This forum is designed to assist users with product specific issues such as applying updates and updating the Camera RAW plug-in.

  • Installing Update in PSE

How do I install the PSE update from 9.0.1 to 9.0.3 when message says that patch cannot be applied in Windows 7?

Uninstall PSE completely, reinstall, then only apply the 9.0.3 update. Updates are cummulative and include any previous updates, so there's no need to install any inbetween steps.

  • Disable Updates in PSE 11

I need to disable update notifications in PSE11.  When I access the update Preferences, un-check all the boxes, and click OK and then re-enter via Preferences all the boxes are again checked.
This is on a PC with a locked-down configuration to prevent user changes and it reverts to the original configuration on every reboot.  This means that the users are continually notified of the available updates.
    Thanks for any help...

Yes, an icon appears in the Windows 7 notiifcation area that Adobe Application Manager has updates available.  It doesn't specify the app but PSE is the only Adobe app installed on the PC (besides Reader).
When I open PSE and navigate to <Help> <Updates> <Preferences>, clear all the checkboxes, exit, then come right back, all the boxes are checked just like they were before I started.
PSE is starting in the Editor.
    Thanks...
