Update to RoboHelp Dropping all Files/Content

My colleague has now encountered the same problem as I described here:

Here is the content of her report:
"A similar problem that happened earlier to Derek is now happening to me. I was generating the WebHelp output for our merged project (the merged project is a container for all the sub-projects and we generate them all one by one to create the online help output). When I opened the last sub-project on the list (we have 15 sub-projects at the moment), I suddenly had two instances of the RoboHelp project running – one looked like the normal project and the other one had no content, it was just a template project with some default files. And then RoboHelp crashed. All I could see was an error message saying that RH has encountered a problem and is closing.
When I opened the project again, all the project files were missing. See the attachment for an example of the empty project.
All the correct project files were still in the project folder in SVN but now there were also all these additional files which were not there before. When I did an SVN commit on the project folder, I got a long list of files that were added and also a few of the real project files were marked as updated. See a  list of these files in the attached screenshots.
To solve this problem I had to do a fresh checkout of the Documentation folder in SVN. After the fresh checkout, the problem project opened normally with all the files in it and I was able to generate a Web Help output normally.
We are wondering if this could be a network issue (connection to SVN) rather than a problem with RoboHelp? RoboHelp works fine 99% of the time, and then suddenly, with a random project, this issue occurs. Could RoboHelp lose the connection to the files in SVN for some reason and this is why it crashes and loses all the project files?
We are using RoboHelp 10 with SVN (TortoiseSVN 1.7.7, Build 22907 - 64 Bit) and the operating system is Windows 7."
Addendum: I switched machines + new RH install, in an effort to rule out a HW issue. However it occurred again on the new machine.

As requested the thread has been moved to RoboHelp HTML. Sorry I missed your earlier request.
I am not a source control user but  I cannot see how a project that has crashed can check files in. A crashed project cannot do anything. Maybe you will need to contact Tech Support on this one.
What if you check everything out and remove the source control link?

    When I upgrade a file to RoboHelp 8, the file does transfer over; however, the contents within that file does not come with it.  RoboHelp will show the Icon with the name of the file.  So, there is no table of contents.

    Perhaps try reinstalling RoboHelp? Sounds like something got
    clobbered somewhere along the way. Also, from what you have
    reported you were formerly working on a network resource? If so,
    ouch - not good - always better to work locally! From what you have
    described it would almost seem that your RoboHelp project has
    somehow managed to be created using absolute references for the
    topics. That would seem odd because RoboHelp normally creates
    relative things. However, we have seen all sorts of weirdness when
    you work off a network. That's just one of the reasons we advise
    against it.

  • Updating to IOS7 caused all files on iPad to disappear and restore from iTunes does not work

    I recently updated my iPad to IOS7. Before doing so, I backed up the contents to iTunes.  After completing the update, I found that the iPad has been completely cleared out of all files. .It is now completely empty and prompts for a new setup when I turn it on. 
    So naturally I tried to restore from iTunes. However, although the restore process appears to have completed, nothing changes at all on the iPad.  It remains a blank slate.
    Can someone please advise how I can recover my files?  There are a lot of important photos I want to preserve. Perhaps I am missing some obvious step.

  • I updated my iPhone 4S and my iPad 4 to iOS 7 now they both drop all my contents all my notes go missing I keep having to turn it off and on sometimes several times to make a phone call and the scroll rarely works is there anything I can do?

    I updated my iPhone 4S to iOS 7 now my phone constantly deletes all my contacts and takes days to download them from my iCloud again, constantly needs to be turned off and on sometimes several times to make a phone call, the scroll rarely works, is there anything I can do, the apple tech told me it was something I'd just have to get used to, my phone worked perfectly before the update.

    Even if it is a hardware problem they should fix it regardless of warranty. If you buy a car and after 1.5 years the doors fall off due to a failure in their design and construction, do you think the car manufacturer could pull off what Apple is trying to do? Yes the car still delivers its primary objective of driving from A to B, but significant functionality has been lost due to their fault.
    It is the same with this iPhone wifi problem. Apple are a disgrace, I have had significant Apple Hardware failures with my MacBook Pro and iPhone within 2 years of purchase. Pathetic quality.

  • RoboHelp 8 - All Files Unrecognized

    I upgraded a RoboHelp 6 project to RoboHelp 8. It worked okay
    for awhile (very slow and many style issues), but okay.
    Now, any topic that I try and open, RoboHelp tries to open a
    new project and then I get the following messgae:
    The file "xxxx.htm" is not a recognized Help Project file and
    cannot be opened.
    This happens whether on the local directory or network.
    I moved this project to local to try and improve the slow
    performance and then this happened.
    Any suggestions?
    I tried deleting the .cpd, but then the project opened with
    all broken links (1,000s of topics).

  • All Files Error after Update Pages, Numbers and Keynote, Why ?

    Dear Apple Lovers,
    I am using ipad 2 Wifi + 3G 64 GB, I had updated my ipad from ios 4.1.3 to ios 7.1.1 two week ago.
    After that All aplication and all file can be opened properly well. 
    The problem came after I updated Keynote, Pages & Numbers, all files could not be opened & all file name is change from alphabetical to numerical. All file content 2 type of file, 1 BuildVersionHistory and the other one is index.
    if i open the file ... spreadsheet can't be imported... the file format is invalid
    or in Pages...
    document can't be imported... the file format is invalid...
    If I want to share that document via icloud ... Can't Send Spreadsheet.. To send this spreadsheet, open it in Numbers for iOS first.
    In other case... I create a new file in Pages, Numbers or Keynote..  but all the new files can't view in Tab Apps when my ipad is connected to my mac pro via iTunes.  If I create a file using other aplication (example using DocToGo), a new file that is created can be seen directly in iTunes Tab Apps DocToGo.
    in this morning when i open Numbers all my files are disappear including new file without the reason at all, please give me the  best solution. I need your help very very urgent.... since my working datas is very very important.

    I'm having the same problem with Numbers files.  The open on my iPad, but not on my Mac running Mavericks.

  • Communication Channel marked all files as being read on FTP

    The Mailbox FTP has all the files flagged as being read when a single file is read through a communication channel.  I manually unflagged the status field so all files had a status of N so none were pulled.  I had 14 files for this test flagged as N.   I turned off all our CCu2019s.  I activated one that was pulling the last file in the list based on the Service Ref# which is unique file name.  I refreshed the dir of the FTP several times as the CC was running.  One by one as the flag was changed to Y (file read) from top to bottom.  It only took a second for each one until it got to three very large files and the status stopped while it was reading the file.  After a minute it continued to change the flag until it read the last one.   All 14 files on the ftp now had the status flag changed to Y.  It appears it actually read the file content one by one and set the flag until it was done.  Do you have any ideas why it would do this?  From a dos prompt I donu2019t have any of these issues so Iu2019m guessing itu2019s something unique in the SAP FTP adapter that is doing it?
    From a dos prompt I can successfully do a get 003520827870964903 c:data.txt and it will only update that ST flag for that one file as being read.  I can also do a get %EDT39A22%W_Z1JI4960 c:data.txt  and it will only flag the four files as being read that have that Mailbox/APRF value.  Now I'm trying to get my CC to do the same but no matter what I try it marks all six files as being read.   I have in my source directory %EDT39A22%W_Z1JI4960 and * for a file name and this will mark all files as being read when activated.   I have entered 003520827870964903 for a file name to further qualify and it still marks all files as being read.  It seems to be getting the file I want cause when I view the communication channel monitor it shows the right data in the payload but it always refers to another file for the archive / delete / test option from the processing tab.  There are no problems having a CC write a file out using similar parms for Mailbox/APRF, but trying to read a single file using the Service Ref # or a collection of files using a Mailbox/APRF mask seem to update the status for all files as being read.  Any suggestions are welcome.

    Have you installed any apps that auto display the emails when they come in? If so the auto read feature may be triggering this, I had a app at one time that showed my emails in the preview window and it made the emails be listed as read... I would check your apps and make sure you are not using something like this unknowingly.

  • New firmware update doen't allow me to see all files in iPod library...

    I have a 5G/ 60GB iPod, updated to the new firmware, and I have found that now there is no way to see a "Library" style depiction of all the files on my iPod, ala the iTunes "Library" category. I have podcasts that I manage manually which do not display as "Podcasts", and the easiest way to add and delete them (sometimes I duplicate them by mistake when adding from my other computer at work)was from the "Library" style view when the iPod device name was selected. Now those podcasts do not appear in the "Music", "Movies", "TV Shows", or "Audiobooks" categories. I CAN view them by date in the "Recently Added" playlist, but duplicates cannot be deleted from this playlist. I there a "View all Files" sort of option I am unaware of, or any other solution (3rd Party) to access/ edit/ remove these files?

    The checking and unchecking of songs is done in iTunes, not on the shuffle.  And that may affect what is loaded in the shuffle during automatic syncing.  So first check what is actually loaded on the shuffle.
    If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is not visible, from the iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
    In the sidebar, find your shuffle under DEVICES.  Click the small trianle to the left of the shuffle name to drop down its content list (indented below the shuffle).  Click on Music there.  The list of songs currently on the shuffle is shown to the right.  Are the songs that do not play on that list, or not on that list?

  • Latest Adobe Reader update deleted all files from my desktop - help please!

    Dear all!
    Yesterday I opened up a .pdf document with Adobe Reader. I clicked the Help | Check for Updates option. The reader informed me that there was an update available. I then disabled my antivirus (as is recommended). I selected the available update by checking the box next to it. I then clicked the Download option.
    The update began to download. At that moment I noticed that the .pdf document was still open (i.e. Adobe Reader was still running). Knowing that the installation, when it begins, tends to notify me that it must close Adobe Reader in order for the installation to continue, I decided to close Adobe Reader myself before being prompted to do so. All was fine until that moment, as the update download and install runs in a completely separate process from the Reader, it was not affected.
    After I closed the Reader, with the update still running I noticed that all files I had on my desktop were gone. None of the folders were missing, just the single files and most of my shortcuts. I checked to see if the files were just invisible or phisically missing. It was the latter. Windows Explorer showed that all files I had on my desktop were gone (deleted/overwritten I guess). A search of my computer for the file names came up empty, even though I was searching with the "search hidden and system files" options enabled!
    I tried a number of deleted file restoration softwares but none have identified the desktop files I was missing.
    Be so kind as to spare me from the "did you check the power cord" category of "answers", as I am not a complete idiot. The Acrobat Update, or something associated with it has to be at the root of this problem, as the antivirus software I have installed came up empty when I searched the computer for virurses, worms and the likes...
    All help on this matter would be appreciated. Needless to say, most of my current work was stored on the desktop...

    Please ignore the previous unrelated reply - I will deal with it separately.
    I must first say that this is a very puzzling problem, and that I have never heard of anything like it.  Apart from the missing desktop content, it also puzzles me that you state your Adobe Reader version as 9.34, when the latest Reader version is actually 9.3.2.
    Anyway, how to solve it?  Can I assume that you do not have a very recent backup, from where you can simply restore all the lost content?
    I do not know if your desktop content is really gone (deleted), or if it is somehow just not visible.  There are a few things we can try, but I strongly suggest that you make a full backup of your system before you try anything!
    Since I have never seen this before, I cannot make any definitive recommendations, but just suggest what I would do if that happened on my computer.  Again, not before making a full backup.
    Uninstall Adobe Reader.
    System Restore to a time before the problem started.
    Check the following registry keys, if they have a value 'NoDesktop', and what it is set to
    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer
    If you are on XP Pro, you can use gpedit.msc to check these settings (Configuration | Administrative Templates | Desktop ["Hide and disable all items on the desktop"]).

  • I have an iphone 4 (ios 4.3.1). I want to update to the latest ios, but it wouldn't load onto my iphone, I got error message code 3014. I tried again and it said I would lose all the contents on my iphone if I continued - help!

    I have an iPhone 4 (IOS 4.3.1) and it was synced and backed up today.
    I wanted to upgrade to the latest ios on iTunes (today's date is 3rd Jan 2013), it seemed to download ok (it took about 30 minutes or so), but when it tried to update onto the iPhone (I think this was what it was doing!) I got an error message that had code 3014 in it. Nowhere on Apple's website can I find a way to resolve this error code.
    I then thought I would just try again from the beginning, but I then got an error message saying that if I continued I would lose all the contents on my iPhone so I cancelled it as I don't want to lose everything on my phone.
    Can anyone help me as I am not very good at technical things and I really want to upgrade the ios on my iPhone without losing all the data I have on there already. An idiots guide would be great.

    Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3014, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
    Update to the latest version of iTunes.
    Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
    Check that your security or firewall software is not interfering with ports 80 or 443, or with the server gs.apple.com.
    Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
    An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (see "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
    Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you are using a proxy, try without using one.
    Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.

  • Latest Update 10.5.3.3 Deletes All my Content When I Shut Down ITunes

    Is anyone else having problems with the latest update 10.5.3.3 for Windows?
    After I completed the required re-start of my computer and opened ITunes, it showed up as if I had just downloaded ITunes for the first time. All my music, playlists, apps, and books were gone.
    The first time I re-downloaded all my content from my ICloud account which took about an hour. I shut down my computer for the day, and when I opened ITunes the next day all of my content was GONE AGAIN! And there are ITunes database files in my Recycle Bin, and I did not put anything there.
    This second time I used "Find MP3 & ACC files in my Home Folder instead of downloading everything again (I didn't realize I could do this, I am not software/hardware inner-workings savvy) which only took about 5 minutes and the only problem wasn't really a problem... for some reason certain songs I'd purchased from the ITunes store came over in multiples, there were doubles of some songs and triples of others.
    And AGAIN when I shut down my computer, and opened ITunes this morning and everything is gone again. I attempted to use ITunes support but for some dumb reason they want a serial number for one of my products (which is not an issue here, ITunes is the problem, and considering it's a free download I dont think it has a serial number) and wants me to pay a fee to talk to Apple Support.
    Can someone with some tech smarts please tell me why this is happening? Or I would at least like to know that I am not the only one, and that Apple might be working to fix this glitch!

    Consider your iMac is almost dead. My first iMac was a G5 and it did not took to long till the fans got louder and louder. It was still in warranty and I took it to Apple Service. They replaced the mainboard.

  • All files vanished after update!!!!

    i erased all my contents after syncing my phone, then updated it and went to sync it again and all my stuff (more importantly hundreds of songs) have vanished!!!!  And its saying my brothers iphone on the computer when its connected instead of mines!!!!!  What do i do apart from cry?  I cloud has somehow decided to forget most of me too!!!!

    Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

    Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • When I go to my downloads folder on my dock and click the file all the content shows up but as soon as I go to open it in the finder, I get a blank window. Has anyone else had this problem, if so, How do you fix it.

    I am having the same issue here in September.  How did yor situation get resolved.  My iPad Siri works great.  My iPhone 5 Siri has been out of comission (OOC) for almost a month and I am beginning to get a little frustrated since Siri works so well in July....ANY assistance would be highly appreciated...     My ITunes got corrupted and I kept getting a message when updating iTunes64msi missing so I uninstalled all files and I thought I removed all registry values but  when reinstalling I get an older version is installed and cannot be removed. I need a solution.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
