Update triggers firmware change, locks bitlocker. Any hope?

We have a computer that is running 8.1 pro x64.
Yesterday morning it rebooted for updates as planned. However the user reported seeing a "updating firmware" window as it came back up. This strikes me as odd. We have not configured anything that is pushing out firmware updates, and as I understand
it, windows updates does not push firmware.
This update triggered the TPM to lock, and unfortunately the stored key is not working. As this is a domain computer, there is no recovery key attached to a Microsoft account. Is there some other location where bitlocker stores keys? Some way we can
get it out of the TPM chip, or otherwise contact Microsoft. Is there a company that we can hire to brute force the key? I recognize this is grasping at straws, but any advice would be appreciated.

Do you mean the firmware destroys the TPM? Generally, for Non-Microsoft software updates, such as computer manufacturer firmware updates, we need to set the bitlocker suspend, or the encrypted drive might be broken, as Ronald mentioned, there should be a
bitlocker recovery key, and your members or admin should know where he stored the recovery key.

Updating firmware on locked E61

I recently got an E61 as an Xmas gift and spent some time playing with various features. By the time I'd finished I'd setup wireless browsing/email via our home LAN and also sync'd all my contacts and calendar entries courtesy of Zyb.com from my previous handset. I also changed the default lock/security code to something I thought was more secure and configured the lock option on receipt of a particular SMS. I finally switched it off in the small hours and went to get some sleep. The next day, disaster! It wouldn't accept what I thought was the correct security/lock code. The PIN code was no problem, but without the lock code I was stuffed. After some googling I resigned myself to getting the firmware updated and took it in to a Nokia Service Centre. Now I'm no expert, but I'd think that updating the firmware should be pretty straightforward, especially for a service centre with the right equiment/tools etc. Imagine my surprise then when after checking back with the service centre, they told me that they'd been unable to update the firmware and needed to send the handset to their central repair facility. Is updating the firmware on a phone that's security locked really that challenging or are the service centre in question just being a bit dim?

Yes it sounds like you have a corrupted preference file.
The setting you make in individual programs get saved to a Preference file in your Users/Library/Preferences folder.
All you have to do is drag out the old file to the desktop, reboot and load the program and the preference file gets rebuilt without your preferences which you reset.
For your case I beleive the preference file is
com.apple.desktop.plist

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.

Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!

I have not had any experience in getting any devices repaired so I'm not sure which store to resort to. An official Apple store should more than likely get you what you need, but I'm guessing it's probably more expensive. (if any cost for your situation)

it sounds like your work changed something on their network. Try asking your IT people if they recently blocked any ports related to remote management or changed their firewall settings to block incoming connections.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

I don't know if this update involved rewwriting the entire operating system whereby you essentially transferred the software from one system to another, but if so, then you need to uninstall and reinstall the software and reactivate it using your serial number.
