Update v460 switchable graphics drivers

I've tried to update the graphics drivers from nvidia and that completely screws up the switchable graphics functioning and pretty much the resolution goes to crap and I have to do a system revert to fix it. Does anybody know if lenovo has released updated switchable graphics drivers for the v460? because in many programs (games) it says to update the graphics drivers and the screen flickers and the computer becomes generally unusable.
thanks!

try to perform clean windows installation by pressing one key recover first.
then check if you have any issue with your graphic card, if not avoid updating drivers, if you do, just try to update drivers from the link below.

  • Is it safe to update the nVidia graphics drivers for WinXP on Bootcamp?

    Hello again,
Is it safe to update the nVidia graphics drivers for WinXP on Bootcamp?

YES we are both stating the same thing however in different terms. You will be fine with the updates that you are talking about. Just ensure that the drivers that you are updating match the make/model of your graphics adapter.
If something doesn't work out then you can always revert back to the previous driver.

  • How do I update my Nvidia graphics drivers on Bootcamp using Windows 8.1

    Hey all,
I have been running bootcamp with my MacBook Pro with retina display, mid 2013 model for quite some time, but only recently did the windows 8.1 update from windows 8. I have been prompted by some games, namely Fifa 15, to update to the latest Nvidia graphics driver. Now, i know that just downloading the driver from the website is bad as bootcamp needs to run on the drivers anyway, so how do I update these drivers? and what is the latest set of apple support drivers for my model, because I keep seeing different ones everywhere. also i would rather not wait for an update on the part of apple support drivers.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks,
    Sam

Please see Huge lag in games on bootcamp as a reference. The linked thread is for a GT750m.
Since there are no mid-2013 Retina models (as per Apple - Support - Technical Specifications), assuming this is your Mac - MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013) - Technical Specifications - the same should work for you.

  • Can I update my switchable graphics driver? (T500 2082)

Hello everyone, hope there is no such topic yet here.
I want to update my driver since I experience some problem (like 10.1 flash gpu accel is not really working, DXVA won't really turn on, dual display problems sometimes). (I dont have the fetish of the latest is the greatest, but this time it would really help me out.)
So I've got Radeon HD3650 (mobility) and an Intel MHD4500. I'm using the usual (using the usual eek) setting in the bios, switchable. Installed the "latest" (so a bit old) drivers for it from Lenovo System Update.
A person on superuser.com helped me out with a link. ATI writes that my gpu (ATI) is supported and they ship with Intel drivers. However, if I click on the Download button, I get a 2mb file , it upnacks, runs , and tell me that my hardware is not supported.
Any way to fix this? To update it?
    Thanks everyone in advance.

  • Unable to update Intel HD graphics drivers on my new computer

    Hi,
I just recently bought a desktop HP Pavilion PC with Windows 8 64-bit which includes an Intel HD Graphics card but when I try to download the latest driver for my graphics (version 15.33.18.64.3496) on Intel's site it says I need to download it from PC manufacturer.
When I search for this update either on HPs site or using HP Support Assistant, it is not appearing so I cannot download it. This is causing me to run games in 'fair' graphics to lower the framerate and the games all say i need to update my video card.
    Please help, growing frustrated!!
P.S. i've now upgraded to Windows 8.1 but still not resolved the issue.
    Thanks,
    Admurphy85

Thank you for the additional information.
I normally recommend a PSU with at least 500W.  However, 600W is better for future upgrades.  Here is a Corsair PSU that will do a good job.  Corsair makes enthusiast quality products for a good price.  It is best to measure the existing PSU to assure that the new one will fit.
As for video cards, I like XFX, EVGA, Sapphire and PNY in that order.  I came to these preferences from being on many enthusiast/gamer forums over the years.  You should pick a video card and get the measurements.  Then, make a template the same size and to see if it will fit into the space provided.  You should add at least one inch if the card has extra power connector/s.  Normally, a card in the range of 9" to 9.5" will work fine.  Newegg is a good place to shop for cards.  Their specifications are more complete than other etailers.  It would be good if you find a card.  Post a link and I will review it for you.

  • Can't update to latest graphics drivers on X240?

Lenovo's website says that the latest version of the Intel HD Graphics 4400 is 10.18.10.3496 released on 21 July 2014.  However, Intel's website disagrees.  It says that 10.18.10.3621 is the latest version.  But when I download it and try to install it, the following box pops up:
Error.  The driver being installed is not validated for this computer.  Please obtian the appropriate driver from the         computer manufacturer.  Setup will exit.
Setup then exits and the driver does not install.
Is it possible to force it to install?  Is Lenovo refusing it, kind of like the BIOS whitelist that makes it impossible to use certain hardware?
Seems ridiculous that I have to wait to install the latest drivers until Lenovo has approved them....  Is Lenovo turning into Apple?  Seems there is a ridiculous amount of hand holding and restrictions these days.

  • GE70 - Can't update to latest graphics drivers.

    Hello!
I've browsed through this forum and noticed others that have similar problems, but nonetheless i haven't really found an answer to my problem!
So! I just bought this new MSI GE70 2OE Laptop, and it works perfectly except for the fact that i can't upgrade to the latest driver for the Geforce GTX 765m graphics card. When i try to download it from nvidias website it just says it can't find a matching hardware or something and then aborts the installation, eventhough i checked it is the correct driver.
It would be really great if someone here could lend me a helping hand with this problem. Thanks!

This is absolutely normal for most (may be all...) laptop vendors: their dedicated and integrated GPUs, only works with the laptop vendor "flavour" of the Graphic Card's manufacturer drivers (AMD, Nvidia).
As well as you can get the last driver for some other peripherals (touchpad, soundcard, wlans...) directly from the manufacturers site (Elantech, Realtek...), this doesn't work for the GPU's: you must always wait for your laptop vendor GPU driver release.
You can get an extended and well explained answer and reasons for this fact doing a little "googleing"

  • Will there ever be an updated Switchable Graphics driver for W500 (Vista)?

Well the current driver is quite old and I failed in modding the current Switchable Graphics driver to include new drivers.
So, will there ever be an update for Switchable Graphics in Vista for the W500?

I don't think there will be for Vista; it doesn't support heterogeneous adapters, and the Vista package uses an AMD proprietary driver wrapper which I doubt will see further update.
For us on Windows 7, we're able to apply the latest Catalyst drivers with good results. (11.4 is FAST.)

  • Update for Graphics Drivers

I have a HP Envy m6 Notebook with
    Product No. : D9H73PA
    BIOS: F.26 - 05/14/2014
Graphics card: Intel HD Graphics 4000 and AMD RADEON HD 7670 M
    Processor: Intel core i7-3632QM
    Ram: 8Gb
    OS: Windows 8.1 64 bit
The problem i am facing is that i cant find update to the graphics drivers for my notebook on the HP website. The latest updates that i can find in the driver section for my norebook on HP website is dated back to 2012. Has HP released any updates to my graphics driver after that?
I have tried to manually download graphics drivers from Intel website and AMD website. But if i install the driver from Intel website for Intel HD Graphics my AMD card cant detect it and gets non-functional. Also if i remove the driver originally provided by HP for my Radeon Graphics Card and try installing new drivers from the AMD website then it cant detect my Radeon Graphics Card.
It is a huge problem as most of the games like Max Payne 3, Tomb Raider 2013, Skyrim 5 and many other is not getting supported by the AMD Graphics Card because of the outdated drivers. I will be highly grateful if you can give me links for updated versions of the drivers supported by my HP notebook and tell the process about how to get it installed.

    Hi @abhirup
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having trouble with finding updated drivers for your device. Unfortunately from what I found the unit you have was, never released in a windows 8.1 configuration so there are no drivers posted for it. So for now windows 8 is the supported operating system for that notebook. That may change, but currently Windows 8 drivers are the only ones available.

  • Windows 8 Consumer Preview: AMD Switchable Graphics - Unswitchable

    Hello everyone,
I have a HP Pavillion dv6-6004tx notebook computer, and I recently upgraded it to the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250). I would like some troubleshooting from those who have/are experiencing this and may have found a way around it.
As far as the specs of my computer goes:
    Intel Core i7-2720QM
    6 GB DDR3 RAM
    64-Bit OS
    AMD Radeon HD 6700M
    Intel Graphics Family
The problem lies within my display drivers. Some of you may also have a Switchable Graphics feature installed in your computers. But for those who don't, basically what it is is a feature that allows one to switch their display adaptor from a Power-Saving GPU to a High-Performance GPU, and vice versa.
In my case, as you can see above, the High-Performance GPU is the Radeon 6700M, while the Power-saving GPU is the integrated Intel one. My problem deals with not being able to switch back and forth between them, like I was able to back on Windows 7. As this is a feature of AMD Catalyst Control Center, I have searched their website and they actually have a supported driver version for Windows 8 CP, albeit it still being a beta and sometimes glitchy.
    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/Windows8ConsumerPreviewDrivers.aspx
(As you can see, my model: AMD Radeon HD 6000M Series is listed)
After installing the Control Center, I restarted and a pop-up notifcation tells me that:
"The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your AMD graphics driver, or enable your AMD adapter using the Displays Manager."
I found this odd at first, as my model clearly was listed. But after some inferencing, I realized that my computer must be running on the integrated Intel graphics by default. This was further reinforced when I tried playing some games and other applications (It would be slightly choppy - as experienced before when I had forgotten to switch back onto High-Performance GPU).
The AMD Radeon card used to have an error (The device won't start. Code: 10) under device manager, but with a fresh install of the driver obtained from AMD, it seems to be working fine. However, my computer is still using the Intel card by default, and I have no way of switching to the other GPU as Catalyst will not start.
Has anyone found a way around this?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I'll give you a two way to make it work!!!!  There is so much incompatibilities with the FIRST METHOD listed, you won't get use a Intel (less power consuming card) GPU to work after the changes! you've got to wait till HP let's it work properly or deal with power hungry AMD GPU even in battery mode .
THE SECOND METHOD listed works without any problem with compatibility in any apps BUT IT IS Require pace and order ( may be exhaustive  for newbie's, no worries listed below got all the info you need to make it work)
    SO the first option:
NOTE:THIS WILL TRIGER THE OUTCONTROL EVENTS SO PRECAUTION METHODS I WILL ADVISE FURTHER AS WE GO STEP BY STEP _ DOWNLOAD CHROME IF YOU RUNNING INTERNET EXPLORER ( GRAPHIC CARD WILL WORK WITH GAMES BUT NOT WITH METRO APPS THEY WILL NOT CRASH JUST NOT LAUNCH
ALL THE METHODS BELOW TESTED BY MYSELF AND GET WORKED YET MANY INCOMPATIBILIES STILL WILL REMAIN USE IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
as i can tell all the games working properly yet battlefield 3 won't launch
    1.      AT first make sure that windows UPDATE IS SWITCH OFF or let you choose to download and instal (not automaticly or it will update ur device (at device manager) without ur permision and all eforts are gone!
2.uninstall AMD Catalyst from "program and components" at control panel, then uninstal all the devices Intel and AMD at device manager at the control panel  (check unistal driver at intel HD driver)
3.reboot! after reboot download this http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/win8/amd_catalyst_win8_consumer_preview_[rc10].exe
    and this
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53025.exe       -      300mb
    4. instal sp53025.exe at windows 7 compatibility mode (it'll unpack by default in C:/SWsetup)
then start the istalation make sure u choose a "custom" , THIS IS CRUCIAL - uncheck the CATALYST (check all the rest intell driver amd driver ect.) after the instalation do not reboot
    5.      Next start the instalation of the windows 8 consumer preview driver from AMD.
uncheck all the rest ( after the sp53025 there will be only AMD driver (check/uncheck) and the catalyst (check/uncheck) box available) uncheck the AMD driver and install only the CATALYST driver!!!!
Reboot! Enjoy !!! There will be no CATALYST(only the intel preference and settings where the CATALYST should've be) at the right mouse click but switchable graphic is now awailable LIKE THIS
Unfortunately you'll won't be available to choose between the INTEL and AMD ! AMD is now working by default
All the .exe will now recognize 6770m
AND METRO APPS WON"T WORK!!!!!!! AS internet explorer will crash as you'll open it
SECOND METHOD IF THE FIRST FAILS (WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE IF HANDS ARE STRAIGHT MORE OR LESS)
    FURTHER IS TESTED!
THIS METHOD EXCLUDE THE METRO APPS CRASH AND ALL THE REST INCOMPATIBILITIES WITH EVERY EXECUTABLE PROGRAMS AND GAMES!!!!
Note: Requires knowledge to sign your own drivers, disable signing enforcement at boot and modding some inf files.
I am not responsible for any damage that may arise. This guide is not exhaustive.
    Requirements:
.NET Framework 3.5 -- Can be enabled within Windows 8, in "Turn Windows features on or off"
Windows Driver Kit (WDK) -- Can be downloaded from here
Configure Windows Update to only "Download updates but let me choose wether to install them", and hide both Intel and AMD updates. This is to prevent our driver be updated by Windows.
1.Download the latest switchable graphics drivers from this site: leshcat blog IT Tips & Tricks: Catalyst 12.3 Pre-WHQL UnifL for Switchable Graphics
    2. Run the installer that will extract the contents of the file, by default it will ask you to disable "Signing enforcement of Windows", you will know that it is working after rebooting because a "Test Mode" watermark is added to the desktop, above "Windows 8 Consumer Preview".
    3. At this moment, do not run the AMD installer yet. We need to modify some files. By default, the driver will be extracted to "C:\Drivers\Catalyst 12.3 Pre-WHQL UnifL".
    4. Go to this directory, and open the following file "Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\C7133662.inf"
    Do the following changes:
    In the section [Version] add:
    Code:
    [Version]
    CatalogFile=C7133662.CAT
There is a section that has the listing of all the supported cards. Rename it from "[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1]" to "[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.2]"
    It should look like this:
    Code:
    [Manufacturer]
    %ATI% = ATI.Mfg, NTamd64.6.1, NTamd64.6.2
    [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.2]
    "%AMD68F2.1%" = ati2mtag_VancouverC_PXAI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68F2
    "%AMD9519.1%" = ati2mtag_VancouverC_PXAI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9519
    5. Follow this guide to Test-Sign a Driver Package. (This guide is generic)
    6. After the previous step, you should have a Catalog file and the inf file we modified previously.
    7. Now proceed to run the AMD installer in "Win 7" Compatibility Mode. It is most likely that the driver install will fail at this stage, but the rest of Catalyst software will be installed.
    8. Now install the driver using the "Have disk" method in device manager and your modified INF for both Intel and AMD cards.
9.If you did the test-signing process correctly, the installation will succeed for both cards.
    10. Reboot and enjoy your switchable graphics under Win 8.
I still have to figure out how to make brightness controls to work.
BTW sorry for any grammar mistake, I am not a native English speaker.
    Known issues:
    - Sometimes switching may not work, resulting in BSOD.
    - When AMD gpu is active, Intel driver context menu options are still available.
    Features:
AMD gpu can be turned off, so battery will last longer.

  • Sp54471 - Does not meet minimum requirements (Trying to get switchable graphics back)

I accidentally lost my switchable graphics by trying to update using drivers directly from AMD.  I do not have the HP restore manager anymore.  I tried downloading sp54471.exe from HP, but whenever I try to install it, it says I do not meet the minimum requirements.  I have tried useing the Support Assistant tool as well, but it also gives the same error.  When trying to just use the tool to find updates, it does not include anything for the graphics.

Hi: You need to use this driver... This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp55092.exe You will never be able to update the switchable graphics driver, so after you get things working again with this driver you will have to leave well enough alone.

  • Intel graphics drivers performance improvement

Just a heads up for people looking to get a little more performance from the Intel on CPU graphics...
I noticed that Lenovo has updated the Intel graphics drivers to version 8.15.10.2418: http://download.lenovo.com/lenovo/content/ddfm/MIGR-77280.html
My i5 X220 Win 7 x64 machine had 8.15.10.2342 installed, and I decided to go ahead and install the recent update.
After installing this and rebooting, I re-ran the Windows Experience Index assessment and noticed that the Graphics subscore has moved to 6.3 from the prior 5.9. The Gaming graphics subscore remains the same as before at 6.3. I haven't noticed any day to day difference yet, but perhaps others will.
Note that this update isn't showing up in Lenovo System Update (at least not for me anyway). But you can manually download and install from the link above.

I'm not sure why they would be so different... Are you running on battery? Mine is powered via 65W adapter through UltraSeries 3 base. Mine is a 4286 CTO with i5-2520M (2.5 GHz). I am using UEFI instead of legacy BIOS.
I don't think it should make a difference, but just in case it does, here is more info on my laptop: extra DIMM (3rd party) installed bringing RAM to 8 GB. BIOS 1.20. mSATA SSD (MyDigitalSSD 64 GB) is startup disk, but ProgramData and Users are on 320 GB drive. Both drives use BitLocker drive encryption (via TPM). The system takes a long time to post (at power on and with reboot) due to Lenovo's problems in the firmware. OS is Win 7 x64 Ultimate. The X220 lid is closed. The laptop is connected to a 1920x1200 display via DisplayPort-DVI adapter
After the computer rebooted I waited a few minutes for Windows services to settle down before starting the WEI assessments.

  • Updated Drivers / Proper OpenGL Support for T400/T500 Models with Switchable Graphics

    Dear Lenovo, Dear interested users,
when will an updated switchable graphics driver for Windows Vista (and also Win7, they are both quite outdated) finally be available? The drivers are completely outdated!
With the current driver for Windows Vista (Version 8.563.2.1-090401a-079160C) only a fraction of OpenGL extensions are supported:
The internal Intel GMA 4500MHD can only Handle OpenGL 1.1 (instead of OpenGL 2.1 it is certified for). Therefore most applications needing OpenGL won't run.
The dedicated ATI Radeon 3470 only supports OpenGL 2.1 (instead of OpenGL 3.1 it is certified for).
You can verify this behavior with the utility "OpenGL Extensions Viewer".
I hope Lenovo didn't close the chapter switchable graphics for T400/T500 systems. It would be a shame for a company claiming to be a leader in business computing to deliver such poor driver-support.
In hopeful expectance of updated drivers,
    Patrick
