Update values on an Adobe Interactive Form

My question refers to the thread posted back in 2004 which remains unanswered...

With ECC 6.00 (SP10) , assuming that the Webdynpro and Adobe Interactive Forms has been correctly setup, can values on an Adobe Form be updated after retrieval from the back-end database?
Updating of UI elements NOT on the Adobe Form has always worked; but, there it is unclear if the problem to update values inside the Adobe Form has been resolved.
Can anyone address this issue with a detailed explanation or example code?

Can you please, open a customer message in the BC-SRV-FP queue and please, provide your landscape component info, i.e., ECC 6.00(SPS10), AS Java SPS?. Please also, provide a WTS connection and information on how to replicate the problem. If it is possible also, upload the webdynpro project in question.

Note: dont forget to link the context attribute to search help. ie. in the context properties of the attributes select the input help mode as dictionary search help and specify the name of the search help present in data dictionary.

F4 Value Help on Adobe Interactive Form with Web Dynpro ABAP

Hello,
I have created an Interactive Form with ZCI type.
I placed a text field MATNR on the form.
Then I placed a Native WD UI element 'Value Help' as mentioned in the below link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/42/fb2fe500553ee4e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm
This form was then embeded into Web Dynpro ABAP view.
The problem is that when I click on the F4 button, nothing happens.
Is anything else needs to be done?

Hi Amol,
After binding the Context variable in the view, and in the Adobe Layout Designer from the Library go to WebDynpro Native Tab and drag and drop the Value Help and for this automatically JavaScript is being generated, go that script and edit the line
Var fieldname = "yourfieldname";
Note: Don't forget to link the context attribute to search help. ie. in the context properties of the attributes select the input help mode as dictionary search help and specify the name of the search help present in data dictionary.
And now go to Utilities and click on u201CInsert Web Dynpro Scriptu201D.
Also make sure that you specify the Layout as ZCI Layout in the Propertioes of the Adobe Form.

Value Help in online Adobe Interactive Form

Hi All,
One of our clients needs value help in Adobe Interactive form for Java Webdynpro.
But I got a problem in value help. For the first time when I click the button its working fine but the next time itu2019s not working.
The whole screen is locked and no event is triggered for the next time.
I am using Adobe Lifecycle Designer 8.0, Netweaver Studio 7.13 and the display type is ZCI(native).

Search Help on Adobe Interactive Form with Web Dynpro ABAP

Hi All,
I have created Adobe Interactive Form with ZCI type and XML based interface type using Webdynpro ABAP.
I placed a text field USER_NAME on the form ( data element is linked to search help USER_COMP ).
Added Native WD UI element 'Value Help' to form to search for users and changed script
*var fieldName = "INSERT_NAME_HERE*"; to var fieldName = "USER_NAME";
The problem is that when I click on the value help button, nothing happens.
Is any more additional steps required ?

Update table after filling an adobe interactive form inside a workflow

I have the following workflow problem:
I made a webdynpro application that incudes an adobe interactive form. An user fill this form. After filling the form he will press the submit button. The data will be introduced in the custom table and a workflow will be started.
Inside the workflow, I attached the form filled by the user. After attaching it I introduce a user decision step in order to see the content of the pdf attachment, modify it and send again. So, the person that will execute the workitem has to open that pdf and fill some additional fields. The information should be updated in the table and then send to other persons. I don't know how to update the table with the new values that are inserted in the form in that decisional step and send the updated form to the other users.

You cannot do that through decision step with attachment. You have to do with task registation in t-code SWFVISU. so the work item will come to UWL once the approver clicks the work item it opens and entered his comments, You have to caputer the comments and pass these comments to the workflow container element from there you update to your custom table.

ADOBE Interactive Form in webdynpro not allowing to enter value

Hi,
I have developed a Adobe interactive form in SFP and then i developed webdynpro component , then integrated into webdynpro. while running the webdynpro application which is showing the adobeform but the input fields are not allowed to enter value.
The same adobe form can be allowed to enter values while running from the report. i dunno how to set the value of the importing parameter fillable = 'X' in webdynpro.

The above mentioned setting are all active like Zc...Layout, enabled check box etc.. but when i make it to Activex which is not displaying form in the portal while running the application instead it shows red color X mark.. is there any setting required to run adobe with webdynpro ..
1.) any notes or patches ???
2.) is activex mandatory for running interactive form in webdunpro? if yes what are system setting required....

Blank value added to dropdown list in Adobe Interactive forms

Hi,
I see blank value being added to the value list by default to dropdown lists in adobe interactive forms. The real issue is it's being added sometimes as the first value or last value in the drop down list of values which is inconsistent and resulting in Errors sometimes.
Is there a way by which we can control the position of the blank value added by default(SAP or Adobe) to the drop down lists in adobe interactive forms .? Secondly , Is this a SAP or Adobe upgrade issue since we observed this issue only after recent upgrades ...?
I am using HCM processes and forms and I am not adding blank value (space) explicitly in my coding of dropdown list values .

The Web Dynpro framework generates a blank entry to the value set of the dropdown listbox if the Context attribute bound to the dropdown listbox is "nullable" (see properties of the Context attribute).
The dropdown listboxes of interactive forms will be populated with exactly the same data (value sets) as the "native" Web Dynpro dropdown lisboxes.
For SAP NetWeaver 7 EhP2, there's a Web Dynpro test application (WDR_TEST_ADOBE_ZCI) available, which demonstrates this: Start it and see the dropdown listboxes labeled "Datatype" and "Datatype (nullable)": Both are bound to Context attributes which are of type DATATYPE_D. The only difference is that one of the attributes is "nullable". The dropdown listbox bound to the nullable attribute contains the additional blank entry.
Watch the native Web Dynpro dropdown listboxes below the interactive form: They are bound to the same Context attributes and contain the same value sets as the dropdown listboxes of the interactive form!

Filtering Drop-down Values Adobe Interactive Form

I am working on adobe interactive form, in which I have a normal drop-down. Now the requirement is, depending on the value of another field (country) , I need to display only the states pertaining to the country being displayed. In my drop-down I get a list of all states irrespective of the country.
I have created an Interactive Adobe form using WebDynpro ABAP. I have populated the view context in my business logic and I am using this context to populate my drop-down. I have a root node named as NODE_ROOT which is of cardinality 1:1 and a child node named as NODE_STATE of cardinality 0:n with State, State_Desc and CountryID as its attributes.
In my drop-down list I have mapped the Item to $record.NODE_STATE.DATA[*], Item_text to the attribute State and Item_Value to the Attribute State_Desc. I have also enabled the "Show Dynamic Binding" option from Tools->Options->Data Binding.
The Drop-down is working fine. I would like to filter these values based on country by making use of CountryID in my form. Is it possible through scripting? If so, how do I do it?
Sample code would be of great help.

Read values from Adobe Interactive Form inside the webdynpro

I have problems to read the values of the fields inside de adobe. I read an article on saptechincal that told:
You can see the Adobe form that we have designed, enter the data as shown below and press the submit button. (As I said earlier an activex control will be installed on to the client machine, you can see the activex control in the internet explore go to the menu: ToolsàInternet optionsàgo to the programs tab àPress button Manage add-ons.
You can see an activex control named u2018SAP ACFu2019, if you donu2019t have this control you will not see this page: Note you need to have adobe acrobat reader 7.1 installed, I have used version 9, the activex control was not working properly so down graded my adobe reader to 7.1)
This is true ??? I have the Acrobat reader 9.3 and i saw that also have the SAP ACF installed.
The value of the property displaytype on adobe interactive form on webdynpro is activeX or native.

I change the value of the attribute but again i can read anything from the adobe form. So let me explain what i'm doing.

Objective: I have to create one webdynpro with an adobe interactive form for create new clients on r/3 system.

1. I create de the view with 2 elements an interactive form and one submit button.

2. Create the context of the view with the following tree:

> context (node)

 > ADOBE_DATA (node)

 > Clients (from KNA1 table) (node)

 > KUNNR

 > LAND1

 > NAME1

 > ORTO1

 > TELF1

>PDF_SOURCE

3. Complementing the properties of the interactive form:
datasource = clients node of the context
displaytype = native
pdf_source = pdf_source attribute of the context
templatesource = name of the form

4. Create the form, and add the data source to the interface of the form

5. On the form bulider i add and subform on the hierarchy tab and the all the fields of the interface to the form and
automatically the value of the fields are binding.

6.Add a submit button from web dynpro native and add the event click to the button. Then i change the value of the layout type and save e activate the form and the interface

7. The next step is create an action for the button submit for the event "onSubmit". So i create the function and start coding this code:

DATA: adobe_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,

 client_node TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_node,

 client_element TYPE REF TO if_wd_context_element,

 client TYPE if_create_client=>element_clients.

*Get reference to the adobe_data node from the context

adobe_node = wd_context->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_adobe_data ).

*Get reference to the clients node from the context

client_node = adobe_node->get_child_node( name = wd_this->wdctx_clients ).

*Get element node

client_element = client_node->get_element( ).

*Get the values from the form

client_element->get_static_attributes(

 IMPORTING

 static_attributes = client ).

8. Then for finalize i add the view to the window and crate a web dynpro application and put one break point on the submit function event.

9. Activate and test the application and when the program try to add a reference to the element node always returning a null reference and the application dumped.

So please help with this situation i can't understand what is the mistake.

PS: Now i have installed the acrobat reader 7.0.8

Updation of Ztable clicking on submit button in adobe interactive forms

Hi, I'm afraid I think there is no place where you can "catch" click on button in interactive form in sapgui, but you can:
use http submit button and send data to your web service, which receive dataa and update your ztable,
or you can create webdynpro, where you can catch click on submit button a in this event you can update yout ztable (my previous post).

Generate Adobe Interactive Form in background and setpdfSource value.

Hi,
Is there any way to create Adobe Interactive Form in the background assigning R/3 data (without displaying) and assign pdfSource binary information in context attribute and later, display Adobe Interactive Form using pdfSource context attribute in a new window?
if Adobe Interactive Form is in Visible state, I'm also able to display Adobe Interactive Form in a new window using pdfSource binary context attribute, .
But, unable to create Adobe Interactive form in the background when Adobe Interactive Form Visibility is NONE and unable to assign binary data to pdfSource attribute in context and hence unable to display Adobe Interactive Form in a new window. Kindly help me if this process is possible.

This is certainly possible. First populate the dataSource context node with the data (e.g. coming from R/3). Then use <a href="http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/wd/com/sap/tc/webdynpro/clientserver/adobe/api/WDInteractiveFormHelper.html">WDInteractiveFormHelper.getContextDataAsStream</a> to obtain the data.xml as a byte[] by calling toByteArray() on the ByteArrayOutputStream. The next step is to obtain the xdp template as a byte[] (I don't know exactly how to do this, but it's certainly possible using some API, just as you would read other resources deployed within your Web Dynpro). When you have both the template and the data, you can use the <a href="http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/wd/com/sap/tc/webdynpro/clientserver/adobe/pdfdocument/api/package-summary.html">PDFDocument</a> API to render a PDF, something as WDPDFDocumentFactory.getDocumentHandler().getDocumentContext().getDocumentCreationContext(); set the data and the template and other options like interactive, call execute and retrieve the pdf byte[] from the returned object. Eventually you can assign the pdf byte[] to the pdfSource context attribute. In case you use NW04, you must use the <a href="http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/current/wd/com/sap/tc/webdynpro/pdfobject/api/package-summary.html">PDFObject</a> instead.
Besides, why would you want to create the PDF before displaying it?

There are couple of ways to integrate MDM with SAP Interactive Forms.
1. WebDynpro Java and MDM API (requires Portal)
2. MDM WebService (Portal not required)
Updating data in MDM using WebDynpro Java :
1. In Component Controller -> Fetch data from MDM using API and populate appropriate context structure
2. Map the View Controller and Comp Controller context.
3. Place Interactive Form UI element in view.(Keep the UI element in UpdatePDF mode, this can be done in properties window. Also increase the height and width property value)
4. The Interactive Form UI element is editable in Adobe Form Designer (7.1 / 8.0)
5. Design the form and bind the UI (TextFields/ Dropdowns) with the Context of View Controller.(Done in Binding tab of Object window)
6. Deploy and run the application.
The rendered application will contain an Adobe Interactive Form populated with MDM data.

Error message while clicking PDF Preview of a ADOBE interactive form

Hi -
I am creating an ADOBE interactive form having Tables, few text fields and E-mail submit button. The scripting language used is FormCalc.
Whenever I am clicking on PDF Preview to see the form layout and to check other functionality, I am getting an error message:
Error message -
Error: syntax error near token '|' on line 1, column 14.
Script failed (language is formcalc; context is xfa[0].form[0].data[0].Mainpage[0].Subform3[0].Table2[0].Row1[0].RATING[0])

I checked my scripts and there is no syntax error in that. My form is also working absolutely fine except getting this error message pop up whenever I try previewing my form.
Can you please tell me, what can be the possible reason.

I tried everything, but couldn't figure out the reason for error. I wrote the script again, but the error is still coming.
Here is a part of my script. I have written this script on Email submit button in preSubmit event, to check if the RATING field value is less than or equal to 3. depending upon this condition, I am making the COMMENT field as mandatory. The same script is repeated for all the RATING & COMMENT fields.
