Update via SCCM failing

I am running Windows Server 2012 R2 and SCCM 2012 R2 (v5.0.7958.1000) and am trying to deploy updates to a Windows 8.1 client but am not having any joy, I keep getting errors within the WindowsUpdate.log.
Can deploy updates to Windows 7 machines okay but not Windows 8.1.
Here is an extract from the log file:

we utilize sccm for all software updates and deployments. is there something we can package or script out for firefox to disable the auto update feature in firefox. I have tested the below but am coming up short:
I have the .exe and configuration.ini file containing the below:
MaintenanceService=false
// disable updater
lockPref("app.update.enabled", false);
// make absolutely sure it is really off
lockPref("app.update.auto", false)'
lockPref("app.update.mode", 0)'
lockPref("app.update.service.enabled", false);
I then have an install.bat that points to the .exe with Firefox Setup 35.0.exe /INI=configuration.ini
or perhaps there are switches I can add manually in the command line install like the -ms
thanks

i think we are ok with deploying the regular ff. i was just looking for a way to disable the auto update during deployment. perhaps i will keep digging. appreciate ur help.

  • Silent install of Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM fails

    Hi all, hoping someone can help. I'm trying to push out deployment of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 via SCCM. From Adobe's site I found details on adding an XML file to preconfigure various default settings and perform a silent install.  I can push out
    the package to my test PC's cache folder no problem, but the advertisement fails with "Failed (bad environment)" message ID 10003. The system cannot find the file specified."
    However, I can install the program manually, running the same code from the command line. So, on my test PC, if I go to c:\windows\system32\cache\(package) from the command line, I can type the following "start /wait Setup.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx"
    (as per Adobe's instructions) and Photoshop Elements 10 will silently install just fine.
    I've read elsewhere that SCCM can have issues with server paths and making use of the %~dp0 variable but I'm unsure if that applies here. In SCCM, in the program properties for PE10, the drive mode is set to "Runs with UNC name." I tried changing to 'requires
    drive letter" but it still failed. I'm guessing I'm dealing with some sort of environment issue but I'm stuck as to how to fix. Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sir_Timbit

    I used "start /wait" as that was what was listed on Adobe's silent install instructions at http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/silent-install-instructions-photoshop-elements-1.html
    Again, it installs fine manually, *if* I point a command prompt to c:\windows\system32\ccm\cache\(cache folder)\ and run the start /wait setup.exe line below. But through SCCM, the advertisement report shows:
    Message ID:10003. Failed (bad environment)
    An error occurred while preparing to run the program for advertisement "ABC20074" ("ABC00041" - "Install Photoshop Elements 10"). The operating system reported error -2147024894: The system cannot find the file specified. Additional program properties: Command
    line: start /wait Setup.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx" Working directory: Drive letter (? = any): Possible cause: This message most commonly occurs when the program's command-line executable file could not be found, when a required
    drive letter connection to a distribution point could not be established, or when the program is configured to use the SMS Software Installation Account but the account is not specified, could not be found, or does not have the appropriate permissions. Solution:
    Check each of the items listed above.
    Execmgr.log on the client shows the following:

  • Forefront Endpoint Protection Definitions Not Updated via SCCM (SCCM 2012 SP1)

    Hi All
    We have an issue of FEP definitions not updating correctly.
    1. Clients getting definitions updates from the internet, not SCCM. Any solution?
    2. Currently, we have around 20 workstations installed with FEP but having more than 7 different definitions versions within those. Waited for a couple of days but still not updating.. kind of random.
    Any advice where to check or what is to be done?
    Regards,
    Xavier

    (Assuming you are using ConfigMgr 2012)
    Part of the Antimalware policy is the tab Definition Updates, in this tab you can define the update location(s). Also, in the normal client settings you can disable the client from going online for their initial definitions.
    Make sure you are deploying the latest updates via ConfigMgr (either via an ADR, or a custom Software Update Group).

  • MS SQL Server 2012 Updates via SCCM 2012 R2

    I'm trying to determine if SCCM 2012 R2 can manage and deploy Hotfixes, Updates and Service packs for SQL Server 2012. Can someone please confirm that SCCM can manage this, how to download SQL Server Hotfixes, Updates and Service Packs into SCCM and where
    I can find instructions on setting up my MS SQL Server computers to receive SQL updates from SCCM.
    Thanks.

    ConfigMgr absolutely can deploy updates and service packs for SQL. You just need to choose the versions you want in Software Update Point Products and Classifications. It's no different than deploying any other Microsoft updates.
    http://www.gerryhampsoncm.blogspot.ie/2013/04/sccm-2012-sp1-step-by-step-guide-part.html
    Is it a good idea? I don't think so. I think SQL updates should be part of a carefully planned (and tested) manual upgrade.

  • Thinkpad T440s BIOS update via PXE fails with "invalid system disk"

    Hi,
    I'm trying to boot via PXE to the BIOS 2.24 update ISO image because the T440s comes without a DVD drive. The Thinkpads are running RHEL 6.5 workstation installed. I'm using syslinux 6.02 and the following menu entry:
    label lenovo_t440s
        menu label Lenovo Thinkpad T440s BIOS 2.24 Update
        kernel memdisk
        append initrd=lenovo/t440s/gjuj11us.iso iso
    The ISO gets loaded via TFTP and seems to boot, but then an error message appears:
    Loading boot sector... booting...
    Lenovo Group Limited
    Invalid system disk
    Replace the disk, and then press any key.
    The Thinkpads come with the following SSD drive: SAMSUNG MZ7TD256HAFV-000L9.
    Anyone had luck with updating BIOS via PXE boot?
    We also have Thinkpads T430s. There the BIOS update ISO image loads, displays the menu, but when one presses "update firmware" then it freezes.
    Regards,
    Bernd

    Same behaviour when I try without PXE and load memdisk and ISO file directly via GRUB using this entry in /boot/grub/grub.conf:
    title ThinkPad BIOS Update
    root (hd0,1)
    kernel /memdisk iso
    initrd /gjuj11us.iso

  • "perfboost.exe" error during Office 365 Pro Plus Patch Update (via SCCM)

    When deploying a newer version of Office 365 Pro Plus to a client machine a pop-up appears with a error message as shown below:
    Things I've done to rectify include:
    Re-downloading Office & Redistributing before retry
    Re-imaged computer to ensure a fresh build.
    The installation continues until completion.  After checking the Office i can see it is updated to the newer build version.
    However as this is to be used in the corporate environment i cannot have this error message appear.  I'm sure i cannot be the only one to experience this.
    Any advice is appreciated!

    Hi,
    Appvisvsubsystems32.dll is a type of DLL file associated with Microsoft Application Virtualization.
    This might happen due to invalid or corrupt  Appvisvsubsystems32.dll registry entry or another program overwriting the version or uninstalling the Dll file.
    Mostly such issues can be rectified by manually registering the Appvisvsubsystems32.dll using the Regsvr32 tool.
    I did follow a weblink to resolve this issue, which might help you aswell.
    Try it...

  • Flash Update via SCUP Problem

    Hello,
    I am deploying Updates via SCUP and SCCM to hundreds of Computers.
    Fortunately Adobe provides an SCCM Update Catalog for both Adobe Flash ActiveX and Adobe Flash Plugin.
    But now my Problem:
    After publishing the Update via SCCM, the client is not supposed to be interfered with the Update Progress (which is working)
    I figured the Updater works like this:
    First SCCM checks if a Update needs to be deployed, if this is the case, The Flash Updater begins.
    First the old Flash Version is beeing uninstalled.
    But now: if the Client has a Browser Window (IE, or Firefox) open, the Updater is not able to install the new Flash Version and quits with an Error.
    This leaves the Client PC without any Flash (because its being uninstalled before)
    How can I prevent Flash being uninstalled due to the Update progress not working while a Browser window is open?
    Thank you very much!
    Sincerely Martin

  • Windows 8 IE and Flash updates through SCCM

    Hi
    I know Internet Explorer in Windows 8 has Flash Player integrated, but I wonder if the updates for Flash are included with the Internet Explorer updates (I deploy Microsoft Updates via SCCM) or do I have to add the updates to SCCM?
    In what classification are these updates (I deploy critical and Security updates)?
    Regards
    Tony

    Hi
    Thank you this helped me a lot!
    Until now I have only deployed updates (security etc) with Bulletin ID.
    I noticed that these IE/Flash updates does not have any Bulletin ID.
    I also saw that there where about 400 other updates without bulletin ID, but I haven't deployed any of them.
    I have a monthly deployment rule "Patch Tuesday" and monthly packages for older updates.
    Should I also include all updates without Bulletin ID in the rule or should I try to filter out only the flash updates in this case and deploy separately?(I don't want to deploy "unneccessary" updates.

  • Adobe Reader 11.0.04 SCUP update causing SCCM 2007 SP2 R3 client to crash

    When we started deploying the 11.0.0.4 update for Adobe Reader provided for System Center Updates Publisher (SCUP), we started having failures with our Operating System Deployments. When the 11.0.0.4 update installs during the Install Software Updates (via WSUS) step, it stops the SCCM client, causing the SCCM client to crash and uninstall. When the SCCM client uninstalls, it breaks the OSD process and the image process fails. Our current .wim file has Adobe Reader 11.x patched to the 11.0.0.3 level. We are using SCUP 2011. Everything was working ok until this update came out. We even tried creating an SCCM software distribution package to deploy the update and it still crashes the SCCM client when installed that way. Has anyone seen similar issues in their SCCM environments? Does Adobe have a support number available to get help with these types of issues? Thanks.

    I am new to Patchng through SCCM just 7 months of experience.
    I deploy the patches regular month basis as microsoft release the patches every month. till now the patch deployment was happening smoothly, but from last month i am facing issue like the SCCM failed to push the patches with in the provided maintenance window.
    even if the maintenance window over client will not get install.
    i have checked the enforcement status report for the same collection which i deployed, the status is always downloading updtaes.
    We have collection called Workstation and servers, both the collections compliance is less like 20% or lesser than that.
    Arround 800 Workstations deployed and given deadline 10 days. with suppressed reboot.
    Arround 70 Servers deployed with with automatic reboot via Maintenance window.
    deadline to install is 1 hour ahead of maintenance window.
    It would be great if any one suggest the solution to make software update deployment through SCCM  with in the maintenance window.

    Vista is not a supported OS for Acrobat XI Pro.

  • Display level suppressed when installing Office 365 ProPlus via SCCM even though XML says Display Level="Full"

    As the title says the display level is suppressed when installing Office 365 ProPlus via SCCM even though XML says Display Level="Full"
    I would like to install Office ProPlus with the display level visible to the user.  Not all users are local admins so I've installed Office within the admin context.  Does this happen because SCCM installs under system context and as such suppresses
    pop ups to the end user?
    Has anyone been able to get this to work or am i doing something wrong?  If someone can offer me some guidance please.  Here is my XML:
    <Configuration>
    <Add OfficeClientEdition="32" >
        <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
          <Language ID="en-us" />
        <ExcludeApp ID="Access" />
          <ExcludeApp ID="InfoPath" />
          <ExcludeApp ID="Groove" />
          <ExcludeApp ID="Project" />
          <ExcludeApp ID="SharePointDesigner" />
          <ExcludeApp ID="Visio" />
        <ExcludeApp ID="OneNote" />
          <ExcludeApp ID="Publisher" />
        </Product>
      </Add>  -->
    <Updates Enabled="True" />
    <Display Level="Full" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
    <Property Name="FORCEAPPSHUTDOWN" Value="1" />
    <Logging Name="OfficeSetup.txt" Path="%temp%" />
      <!--  <Property Name="AUTOACTIVATE" Value="1" />  -->
    </Configuration>

    When i install Office 365 ProPlus manually (independently of SCCM) I see the prompts (same SCCM Package and configuration.xml file).  This suggests it is suppressed when ran in the system context via SCCM.
    How does Microsoft expect you to maintain the build versions (running setup.exe /configure XML) if users are unable to view the prompts? This is significant if the user is already in an Office program they'd get prompted with a message to close the app else
    it automatically closes OR fails depending on if you include the ForceAppShutdown switch in the configuration.xml file.
    The users in the environment are not all local admins which is why i cannot run the deployment in the user context.
    I really need some help, anyone?
