Update video drives from nvidia website

Is it possible to update my video drives from the nvidia website-are there any dangers or problems with doing so?
I am running XP Pro

You can upgrade the Windows drivers but not the OS X drivers. Do not update the GPU's firmware except with an updater from Apple. Same for the OS X video drivers.

Can you update Video Drivers from Nvidia?

Hello,
I have an iMac 27-inch, late 2012 model with a built in Nvidia GTX - 660M 512 MB video card. Is it possible to use the Nvidia driver update for this build in card or should I only use Apple's video driver update? I'm sure there have been updates from Nvidia, but I haven't had a Apple update for at lease six months. I'm not having any problems, but like to keep current on drivers.

In OS X, Apple provides GPU driver updates with every OS X update, so you don't have to worry about the driver. If you have Windows installed with Boot Camp, then you can install the most recent NVIDIA driver from the NVIDIA site > http://www.nvidia.com
Note that GPU drivers don't come as individual drivers, but they come with OS X updates. For example, updates like 10.8.5 or Mavericks may come with updated drivers

Qosmio X300 (PQX31E) - New display driver from nVidia

Good news!
The Nvidia website has a fully compatible new driver for certain X300 models (those with short model no.-PQX31E,nvidia chipsets i believe).
Its driver 186.81 released about a month ago-so finally we can move on from the woefully outdated driver on Toshiba's site.
The new driver has increased SLI support for more recent games and enables PhysX acceleration from the GPU.
It also seemed to reduce my graphics card temperatures by at least 5c-it seems the fans work harder as i can hear them more.
One word of warning-dont follow the standard install procedure that Nvidia recommends-i.e. let the new driver uninstall your old driver and then automatically install its self.
I did this at first but had some problems with Dawn of war 2 crashing on startup.
So what you should do is the following....
1.Download Drivesweeper from Guru3D website.
2.Uninstall your old graphics driver using add/remove-its also worth uninstalling any PhysX driver as well.
3.Reboot into safe mode and run drivesweeper to remove remnants of the old graphics driver and Physx driver if applicable.
4.Install Nvidia mobile graphics driver 186.81 from Nvidia website and enjoy better performance in your games!!!

Al-ex-you misunderstand....a number of qosmio x300 models have hybrid SLI graphics so why that should sound strange to you in this forum is beyond me...
Also the driver i mentioned is more than generic if you read the release notes it states that it supports Qosmio x300 models but only lists 2 american model numbers-further research lead me to conclude that driver 186.81 is fully compatible with x300s that have nvidia not intel chipsets(nothing to do with GPU) and thus have model no. PQX31E-my Qosmio is oficially listed as x300-13w and with the 31E model no.
This driver is not unofficial like Doxs drivers on Laptopvideotogo website and doesn't require any special modification to work....its just that Nvidias uninstaller is inefficient and its a good idea to run drivesweeper before installing 186.81.
I'm enjoying better in game rendering and i can play red faction Guerilla without crashes and the laptop runs cooler...!!!!!

Anyone else getting a notice from FF to update video driver?

I've gotten, a couple of times, what appears to be a notice from Firefox to upgrade my video driver by downloading and running a file. I don't like to download anything unless I can guarantee where it came from. Is this really from Firefox?

If you get a pop-up message asking to update Firefox or plugins then such a message is likely a scam and you should never respond to such an alert to avoid getting infected with malware.
*Only update Firefox via "Help > About" or by downloading and installing Firefox from the Mozilla server and never via a pop-up or link on a web page.
*Plugins should only be updated via the plugin itself or by visiting the home page of the plugin.

Can I update Quadro FX 2700m from Nividia Website? I havent seen an update from lenovo in 2 years, has anybody tried the new update from Nividia has it been stable?

Personal opinion, if I had to choose, I'd stay with Snow Leopard over Lion. I used it for less than a week before reverting. Mountain Lion, Mavericks (no longer available) and Yosemite are okay.

I have read your post on how you are looking to update the graphics drivers on your notebook computer, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
You can automatically update any out-of-date drivers by following this document on Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 7) or for (Windows 8).
To find out if there is a hardware incompatibility with the game you are playing and your computer, also suggest running this diagnostic tool: Can You RUN It?
If your system is still performing in a slow manner, I recommend following this document on Improving System Performance without Adding Memory (Windows 7) as well as (Windows 8). This should help improve the speed and efficiency of your system.

Update Printer Driver from a Command Line

Hello,
I have printers that are being deployed through GP. When the drivers are changed on the print server, they must naturally be changed on each workstation. When I go to a computer, and right click on the printer, I have the option "Update
Driver". Is there a way using a command line to update the driver on these computers? I use rundll32 Printui for other printer installs, but I do not see a command to update a driver. I cannot delete the printer and re-add it because
it is being deployed through GP.

These did not work for me. The printer is already installed using GP. The driver is sitting somewhere on the print server. When I right click on the printer, I see the command "Update Driver". I am trying to find out how
to kick off that "Update driver" from a command line.

Hp 700-214 Can't update video driver

I have an HP 700-214 with a Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600 card. I can't update the video driver through Intel (It tell me there's a custom driver installed by the manufacturer) and when I try to update it through HP, it gives me an error 9996 "Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements."
I'd rather uninstall HP's factory driver and get one that is going to be updated regularly but how do I do that? And if that's no pheasible, how do I update the darn thing?
It's refusing to run some pretty rudimentary programs and the ones that it does run are choppy.

Playing video content from external websites

I'm posting under QuickTime though I'm not 100% sure that this is the appropriate place. Please let me know if not.
I was trying to watch a short video clip from a news site but when I clicked on Play Video the QuickTime icon appeared with a question mark watermarked in it. I have QuickTime installed so I don't know what this is trying to tell me.
On a related issue, some external sites require RealPlayer to play videos. Although I also have RealPlayer installed and although sometimes these videos play, I do get a message from various sites saying something along the lines that the site has content with MIME and that I don't have the plug-in and therefore it can't play. On some of these sites it then says to download RealPlayer.
I'm not really up to speed on videos etc and so would welcome any advice. I always thought that my Mac would play most things.

These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer from http://uk.real.com/player/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
Perian from http://perian.org/
Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

Cannot update Video Driver on Satellite L675

Hi all!
I have problem i bought 675 like 7 months ago for 1099. Since it was the top "gaming" laptop and as time pass i updated my Bios. Since then everything going wrong and i updated my Bios like half year ago after 1 month when i bought laptop.
Like i sayed, as the time passed i start geting like lag spikes if i watch videos, playing games, lisening music.
It put like frezze noise, like pc frezes for 2sec and squiks realy anoying.
Don't know how to fix.
I guess its problem of procesor i5 or cuz bios.
Then when i tryed to updated my Display driver there is no freaking way to updated its just mission impossible.
Toshiba didn't care a bit to make updated drivers for costumers even if i tryed to download it from AMD official site.
It says cannot updated driver since its not suported and it says that i go to toshiba website for new drivers and there are no new drivers for my pc.
So i stucked and new games need new drivers like few games dont wana start cuz i dont have updated my drivers.
Its ridicules.
I hope that u will be able to help me up with my drivers to update. If not... oh well altest i know why not to buy another toshiba laptop if they dont care about costumers.

Satellite A500/01M - Cannot install driver from nVidia page

So I bought an A500/01M around a month or two ago, and the drivers for nvidia are not up to date.
I went through the nvidia site to download the new drivers, however they wouldn't install.
It said the driver wasn't compatible and I had to get the update from my manafacturer.
I went to the toshiba site, but I couldn't find my model number on there.. I searched it and everything.
So my current drivers are like 186. something, and the latest I think is 195.62
How do I get it installed on my laptop?

In my opinion the first question is, why you need new drivers? Are you not satisfied with your current drivers or whats your reason to try and search for new drivers?
First of all: Never touch a running system ;)
Second: The Toshiba website shows always the newest and tested drivers. That means that other drivers from the manufacture (nVidia) directly are not pretested. Maybe they are not compatible (with your notebook) or not bug-free. Who knows?! So theoretically this could be one reason why the Toshiba website shows still the older driver version.
From my own experience I can also say that not always the newest version is the best. Sometimes older versions runs better or lets say more stable.
So either you follow MasterG for installing the nVidia driver or you wait from an update from Toshiba.
